Everyone's experience has been different. While lots of people have experienced crashes and can't complete quests, I have personally not had any issues like that. I have had the inability to change settings, laggy esc menu, but everything else has been okay. I would say try it, and if it's frustrating, then step away.

Generally it is recommended to not run on top of your laptop or monitor. I believe it decreases your performance as a runner as well as your laptop's functionality, but I'm not a doctor or anything

I did the winterlights quest just fine, and didn't get any villagers bugged out. Try accepting the quest in the morning or during the day, I read people theorizing you cant ask Reth to light a candle because when you accept the quest he is in the underground. But I don't know. Only thing thats laggy for me is the esc menu, actually

You said valley sunrise stuff. That furniture set is from Zeki's coin machine. But it's just a random chance of them. You could get ammo, seeds, worms, fireworks, plushies, etc. Or something from that set.

There are some things you shouldn’t be able to craft at all and that aren’t furniture items for the player like the string lights and then there are also things you can craft that are from the zeki machine, you shouldn’t be able to craft any of it bc it’s a bug so I’ve been ignoring it

I think the wooden and stone dividers are bugged into the game early, but valid recipes because it's 20 stone/wood while the Valley Sunrise line is 1 stone. also they have a name like Garden Variety or something so they may just be stand-ins for the actual line of furniture. Playing with friends two of us were crashing every 20 mins and the other two had not a single crash the whole time. The only thing I’ve noticed is the esc button which can be annoying but if you are switching between monitors pulling up your inventory and moving your cursor to the other screen has been helpful.

Someone suggested being physically on your plot at either 6am or 6 pm in game to trigger the letter. Have you tried that?

There is an issue with the quest completing early when you light 8 candles, or if you go home before finishing the quest afaik.

You should be able to craft everything the villagers would gift you, but if you want to see specific dialogue you’ll want to finish the quest before heading home.

That's not a decision to be taken lightly. If you've never had an elderly animal before, it takes a LOT of work to keep them as healthy as possible and comfortable. Add in special needs and that care is compounded. If you have had an elderly animal before and you know the sacrifices you are about to make, only YOU can decide if this is a path you can take. Love alone will not care for any animal.

I don't know if this will help or not, it helped me I had to change the settings from DX12 or DX11 and that fixed all the crashing for me. I've heard others mention doing that too and it helped them.

Usually they would be able to fix it but if not then it may be deeper into the laptop, I had to buy a new one because fedex dumped mine in a lake and then only paid me back for half the value 💀 but I’d definitely try fixing it before purchasing another

There’s a ravenwood (?) furniture item that only uses iron - candelabra I think.
My recent grind has been mining iron and catching the centipedes for silk, and then using my iron just for that one furniture item. While keeping up with cooking (steak dinner iirc) to maintain focus.
Have been able to level furniture pretty fast this way, with the bonus of bug skill/silk and starstones to sell.

Palia makes my computer randomly turn into an airplane. Like straight up AFK in my home area and the computer fans try to launch it into orbit. All the processors check out normal when it happens so I just assumed a 30% CPU occasionally is normal. I dunno why it does it tho

One way to avoid crashing is to NOT adjust graphics in game. It doesn’t save and it crashes your game as it toggles back to where it was.

There's a drop down menu at the top of your screen when you press "H" on your plot, next to that drop down is a Cog Wheel for your plot settings. You can set who's a vistor and who can edit things on your plot or you can close your plot off for visitors entirely! Other than that, there is no other plot security - I hope this helps!

Press H, then the ⚙️ icon for settings, choose whether friends on your list can visit, which will only happen if you’re physically there, or if only NPC’s can visit. If you really trust someone you can give editing permission which allows them to move things around.
