Yeah, it seems like the icon state for all the "collection " achievements got reset but the data is intact. Just have to place in inventory again for it to reregister

Did the achievement complete though? Because bugs received as quest rewards do not count towards the achievement - you can receive the raspberry beetle or the duskwing butterfly in star quality as rewards (as well as some other ones)
So might be that you are still missing some if it didn't complete

Yes! The starred bugs I have all count towards the regular bug achievement, but the starred bug achievement didn’t fill in. I’ve been making sure to sell bugs/fish I get from NPCs to avoid confusion.

I think they are trying hard to make sure and if they didn’t think they could they would have said there was a delay. So yeah I do. Until I see information to say otherwise I prefer to think positive than be/think negative.

Then it might be that you are one of the few people that have the achievements completely bugged.
You could try to hunt down the starred bugs you get from quests again just to make sure you didn't miss one

For me it was just the visual bug and I completed the achievement while it was blacked out.

For the most part gifts don’t count (or shouldn’t) cause it ruins the point of the “collect”‘achievements.

depends on how deeply the issue is nested and likely will be how they fix it, you have to test that kind of patch very thoroughly when altering player data or you can end up wiping people unintentionally and having an adverse effect on newer profiles

Since they don't officially support controllers, it is hard to call anything involving controllers a bug. Unfortunately, controller configuration is a rapidly moving target, currently.
