people are alse fundementally misunderstanding how developing video games works entirely. this is a game in open beta and it is the first ever event they are trying to implement, which means it was always the most likely to not launch smoothly, it's why they never gave us a hardline definitive start time, which people were so upset over. But it's not just a "free game" it is a game that is still actively in development, we as players are here specifically to test it out which means it's going to be broken and incomplete a lot of the time, live games are a mess and the first major ecent patch was almost guaranteed to need some maintenance, this is all incredibly normal I just wish people understood that instead of thinking about what they feel is about them, we're all beta testers here, we're playing to help the game be ready for its full launch

1. It's a new game studio, and new game. Games been out less than a month. They've done an incredible job. Dev's are literally busting their a**es to get you this update. Their first Major update nonetheless.

2. You're mad that the update is taking forever. But you would be even more mad if the update was released prematurely and was broken and unplayable. A few extra hours of waiting for something that works as intended is acceptable, rather than extra hours of playing a broken/non-working patch for hours. You can't rush these.

3. Grass exists, touch it. You might even have fun and enjoy the Vitamin D, and by the time you come back, the update may be finished.

No I totally agree with compensation too. I play a lot of gacha games that will compensate with some of the paid currency for gacha rolls after maintenance updates. 1. There's no reason to get angry that a patch didn't integrate as planned and they are having to extend its downtime. Sh** happens, especially in the world of patch content. They are in Beta afterall.

2. The toxicity from both sides is unecessary. People can be frustrated and people can be supportive but attacking each otheror the team, calling them names, mocking them (and on the other side refusing to acknowledge any mistakes from the team and attacking anyone who makes any kind of valid criticism)....we're supposedly adults yeah?

If you're annoyed it's taking longer than planned, that's valid but don't lump that into the game sucks and is unplayable. And if you want to support the team go for it but trying to flood the chat with THANK YOU isn't the way to do it.

Both sides: dropping clown emotes as a form of dissing other player's opinions, insulting them (no matter which camp they fall in), Acting like this is the End all for the game being good or not...it's NOT helping the Mods OR the dev team. We can love the game, support it /criticize it (in a mature and responsible manner) AND show basic human civility for one another. THAT is how we show the dev team support. Toxicity from either end does nothing but take away from the potential this game has.

They DO have a copy of the live server. Its called having multiple development environments. Live is production and they could have more like development and stable. Its possible they were testing on dev or stable. They are virtually the same, minus some differences if they're testing other things. A common issue can stem if there is manually configuring. Humans make errors. It just happens.

Sometimes code interacts in a way you cannot predict. Sometimes a simple string is missing a ";" or a letter in a passcode. The issues can be super simple or super complicated. But in the end, its an issue that happened and that they have to debug. And they've been working for 6 hours minimum - possibly even much longer if they were preparing for the update even earlier than that. Thats a long time to be working tirelessly.

Instead of saying "if I was the dev's lead - I would" - go and read development journals and diaries. Learn what its like to be in the position of these devs working HOURS to figure out a problem. You saying this shows you have no knowledge of what its like to be a developer and have even less empathy

I also work in development and a maintenance this long would mean someone needs to give some serious explanation for the revenue loss. But I work in market research. And people do have a good point in saying that this is a new studio and some leniency is offered. I feel like we should however be venting some frustration in a more positive and constructive way.
