ah yeah, that was hosted on our separate infra which we haven't ever gotten the time to release coz it involved custom setup. Do you just want a summary of how it's done or would you like the actual source code?

I'm actually building a whole application which should serve the same purpose of your infra and I was thinking that maybe we complete each other.
Of course I'll publish the source code on GitHub once it's ready
We can speak privately about it if you want. Also I think it could benefit you too as you may use it in your next event

yeah to be clear we're not keeping our infra secret or anything, it's just that we never got around to scraping the code of any keys 😛
a summary is we use Nomad as a scheduler and then every time a submission comes in we launch a nomad job that runs the google android docker container, the judge script, and the webapp within a custom isolated network interface

Basically I wrote a whole application that allows the player to interact with an Android device in a constrained environment. It has a series of toggable features which can be selected based on the type of challenge.
Of course you'd have to spin up multiple instances for each team/player and that's something that should be taken care in a different way but I think there are plenty of interesting features for a v0.1.0 release.
Let me know if you think that's interesting and how we can improve it!

My opinion of it is you choose whether to have fun with a challenge or not
Although it is true that in any competitive environment with any reward promised for the best competitors (material or reputation), some individuals will go to extreme lengths to up their chances of winning without any regards to "good spirit" or whatever.
At the same time, I think the design of a challenge has a lot to do with how much effort individuals are willing to put in a challenge.
Personally, any AI generated code instantly puts me off. The "idea" could be as human as you can argue without proof it is, I - as a challenger - am expected to end up digesting AI slop code for it, which I don't want to.
Similarly, challenges which aren't "deep"/"hard", but end up just being a case of "run and come back in seven hours" are stupid. Especially when the infra wasn't designed to support them (or when an arvitrary PoW is implemented for what seems to be a lazy fix to lazy design).
