Hi, everyone! My team developed this Chrome Extension helps translate, summarize, and deeply understand another languages while you surf the Internet and reading online content. 53 languages supported, and it can be wildly using in learning a complex topic, reading doctor's message, law documents, news, Reddit posts, and anywhere you would like to interpret within Chrome. It's easy to use, simply select the text with your mouse and click the icon, you' ll get your answers. We would like you to try it out and give some feedback to us. We are looking for some feedback to improve the features. We really want to make a tool to help people have a smooth reading and understanding experience in another language ❤️ . DM me if you have any questions or suggestions 🙂

"The 4000 an Essential English words for A1-B2 level telled by stories" looks dreadful in this channel
Why?
nearly half of the words are incorrectly used
Okay, so which pack of English words from A1-C1 do you recommend on YouTube?
none. there are no acceptable English wordlists specifically after B2.
apart from the Oxford 3000/5000, but that isn't YouTube enough.
plus, I'm talking about how you committed to grammar mistakes.
I don't know, which from I can learn a correct vocabulary.
I don't know, which from I can learn a correct vocabulary.
?
Let me know, which source is reliable and verified for learning vocabulary A1-B2? I would prefer some YouTube channels.
I have not an idea.
@lethal current i think it's not a good idea to spread resources if you're not fluent or a teacher in english
you could negatively influence some people that are starting to learn
What do you mean?
I did not know, that sharing education materials is not allowed here by users at lower levels.
the dude would be right: we aren't even sure if you know them.
and if the sender cannot be trusted, who can?
🌟 Hey everyone! I've just released a new video on my channel that I think it could really help anyone looking to expand their English vocabulary in a fun and innovative way! 📚✨
🎥 In this video, I explore the word "resilience" in 50 seconds. It's designed to make learning not only effective but also enjoyable!
👀 I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts! Your feedback will help me improve and make even more helpful content!
📺 Watch it here: https://youtu.be/p-tuacmb36E?si=6KisbAACQwfOv5Ue
💬 Feel free to share any feedback or questions you might have either here or in the video comments!
🔔 And if you find this video helpful, consider subscribing to my channel for more engaging and educational content like this. It's a great way to stay updated and ensure you don't miss out on any new videos!
Thank you all for your support! 🙏
😆 A note: "fish" (plural) and "fishes" mean exactly the same thing. They are interchangeable as the plural of "fish"
"Two fish, three fish, fish", "two fishes, three fishes, fishes", or "two fishes, three fishes, fish" would all be equally correct, although for consistency's sake, I would encourage not mixing forms. Pick one or the other
its not about permission (yet, until the mods change that), its about common sense i think
🌷🌷🌷Recommend me an free app on Google Store for grammar exercises and explanation. I prefer an app without ads.🌷🌷🌷
its hard, maybe impossible, a good free app without ads, but duolingo is fine, and it has less ads than free apps in general
is there a better app than duo lingo?
chat gpt 4o
made the stocks tumble
of duolingo lmao
but in chat gpt you have to know what you're looking for
duolingo has kind of a methodology

Yeah, there are too many apps better than Duolingo
Duolingo has mistakes.
Yes
I know
Hey everyone! 😊 I just uploaded a new video and I'd love for you all to check it out.
The title is "Compassion, Magic Word of the Day".
Let me know what you think or if you have any questions! Thank you! 🙏
@proud needle here
Where exactly?
Thanks
theyre grouped by what theyre about
Oh i see
is there any lessons for beginers
You can find many of them
Also Duolingo isn't good for grammar
Download the book English Grammar in Use (you can find it for free) but if you want an app, just type "BritishCouncil grammar" or type "English Grammar" on Play Store and make your choice
One thing that helped a lot was using chatgpt for writing and asking it to correct me
You can see my grammar isn't perfect (far from that tbh) but I strived so much by following these steps
the grammar here is perfect, but the puntuaction is pretty out of order, though
That's my writing style, I can use dots and commas correctly
yeah, i believe so. its amazing, no worries
Tbh the best way to improve your grammar is by reading more. it doesn't need to be books, just open a newsletter and find out what's happening outside of your country). Also, read about various things, not only what is within your range of interests
the more contexts you read about the better it is. Books are amazing, even though yeah theyre tough sometimes. Some authors have sadistic tendencies lmao
Yeah of course they are, I like Orwell's writing style though I've only read one book from him
Homage to Catalonia seems pretty nice Imma try when I find enough time for it
why is everything here, apart from that "thumbs up" or "make matters worse", unintuitive 😭
Because the inventors of english would have really liked you to suffer
I would too. Please suffer a lot
Hey! Just wanted to share a cool tool I've built (😅) where you can learn just what you want, not what you offered.
Just add a Flashcard (Entry) with anything you want to learn, recall, practice, and we'll immediately help you understand and practice that!
It's completely free!
Check out the link: https://geeken.app
Very nice. Spreading the gospel of suffering
Grammar in use books are fantastic
I have the pdfs for free, can I send thats books here?

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be managed to find one. You can create your own using Microsoft Access, but It's going to take loads of time and creating data entry forms won't help you with saving your time either.
Your best bet would be to practice and learn the words you encounter here.
I suggest you check out the Cambridge Dictionary API website; you can request a free plan with a limit of about 3000 tokens from Cambridge Dictionary
@radiant oracle The pdf version of the concepts brought up so far as well as the next ones. (Just don't be alarmed😆 )
I don't think it's really necessary but if you want to check back some names, sure. It can be helpful.
it's not a question about english btw

Hello there! 👋
I just published a new video all about the word "savor" - I think you're really going to enjoy it. 😊 Take a moment to slow down and savor the little things in life. 🍵

Hi. I struggle with speaking in English. So, I am looking for a native speaker who will be able to help me. Maybe someone is interested in being some sort of mentor🙂 ?
Hello, Everyone.
My name is Jack and I am from the US but my English is not so good since I am originally from Malaysia.
Now I am looking for someone who has a native English level for a collaboration.
If you are interested, please DM me.
Thanks.
🌟 Hello, Language Enthusiasts! 🌟
Today, I'd like to share something a bit unique from my side. I’ve recently released a new video on my YouTube channel that, although not a traditional English lesson, resonates deeply with themes of personal growth and the transformative power of language.
This video serves as a heartfelt introduction to the ethos of my channel—highlighting how language learning is not just about acquiring English, but also about connecting cultures and breaking down barriers.
🌍 To ensure inclusivity, I've added subtitles in 145 different languages, so everyone can experience the message, regardless of their native tongue.
I believe the themes discussed could be incredibly inspiring for anyone passionate about languages, and while the video also promotes my channel, the core message is about much more than that. It's about how each of us can make a difference in the world through our language learning and cultural exchanges.
You can view the video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABi_hqDejdQ I would love to hear your thoughts and how it resonates with your experiences in learning and using English.
Thank you for allowing me to share this with you, and for your continued passion for language learning!
Best regards,
Cheryl

🌷🌷🌷Hello. I haven't found an app, which would be free and without ads for reading on Android. I need free and without ads app to improve my reading skills and grammar. I also prefer apps with texts, because I can traslate texts and simple words.🌷🌷🌷
What are the best books/resources for IELTS preparation? I need to reach a C1 level. Thanks!
How do you reach a B2? Some advices which was useful for you?
Certainly the best one. CUP approved.👍
For those of you who are interested in richer vocabulary, here’s a non-exhaustive list. There are multiple benefits that come with widening your vocabulary.
To name a few: it improves comprehension when reading and listening to complex materials. That’s a big plus, especially because my classes are going to include a lot of reading exercises.
It helps you understand English-speaking culture and aid your familiarity with cultural specific terms and idiomatic expressions.
Another example would be how helpful it can be in academic and professional settings, including job interviews in the workforce where professionalism and sophisticated language skills are a must.
It also helps boost your confidence in speaking and writing.
And last of all (but certainly not least) the most obvious benefit: it may help in elevating your language proficiency level too!
So there you have it, plenty of reasons to widen your vocabulary. Why not give it a go and see how many you can remember?🤗
Once I start teaching classes, I’m aiming to provide a lot more support with not only providing lists of richer vocabulary but helping learners boost skills in many other areas of English learning too! Here’s the link to my thread: https://discord.com/channels/801609515391778826/1256646172865593404

What is the best book to upgrade essay writing skills?
I have a question about vocabulary. How to memorize vocabulary efficiently?
Look up what SRS is. And what Anki is. This is software that's based on an algorithm that spaces out your learning material across many weeks, months
you add your notes yourself, you set how many new notes you want to see everyday
and the algorithm is gonna be showing your notes few days later. Later, few weeks later. After that, if you keep on clicking that you know this note, it will show it after months
So it allows you to study huge numbers of notes rather efficiently. You will not remember 100%, that's not possible, but you'll remember a lot of it
This thing is used by medical students in the US, and it is used to memorise difficult terms in medicine. You can use this for anything you want, because you add the notes by yourself
it is free of charge, and does not contain any ads
Oh!Thank you sir!You typed a lot of information for me
.I have downloaded Anki.Let me try how to use this software.
may look a bit confusing at first, but after 3 years of using it, I navigate it with no problems anymore lmao
I used Quizlet before.I need to transfer my previously recorded words.
I will try this software.
Good podcasts to listen to were posted there, if anybody's lookin for somethin to improve their listening with

Hello!
I am learning English and I am very interested in the British culture, history and dialect. I want an accent and speak similar to British dialect, what YouTube channels, books and websites can you recommend?
the biggest difficulty of yours would be that the UK has a ton of different accents
but
I can recommend something, otherwise I wouldn't respond
this is not going to be easy lmao. The main host of the podcast has some kind of a British accent that I find difficult to understand, but that's surely a British accent
I'm learning modern RP accent because its easy for beginners like me (that's how my teacher calls , because this accent is given in our books standartly) Maybe I should have made it clear in my question that I wanted to improve this accent
oh
then this show's host feels as if he had the RP accent
they're talking about, well, the title speaks for itself
This one also sounds close to the RP
thank you so much for your advices
I've noticed that I have a mixture of American, Australian and British accents, but I want to speak clearly, and the easiest and most attractive variant for me is British
i would say it's a waste of time to sound perfectly, but that's just my opinion, pursue what feels the best for you
may I ask what your native language is. It doesn't matter but am curious
there is one small problem, I am bilingual, I speak Kazakh and Russian from birth, but more often I speak Russian, but because I speak Kazakh, I find English phonetics very easy, but I'm Kazakh
I'm sorry , I probably confused you 🙏
am polish and I used to know few Kazakhs before so I may even have some idea of what you sound like. Idk. Doesn't matter. Good luck on your journey
thanks a lot 🙏
Sometimes there are natives who read the #🗒|pronunciation channel, so if you ever wanna post something then feel free. Sometimes people read it

Hi, this is Adrian. I want to learn English and I'm looking for an English teacher who can teach me for at least an hour each day. I'm okay with a paid plan.
Is it okay if the teacher fakes the degree
Hello
Hello, I have a strong Polish accent, which I want to get rid of. And overall my British accent isn´t that good and people have trouble understanding me. Does anyone have any resources or instructions how to do that?
im not very sure though because in my opinion i think British accent seems to be more hard to learn than American accent so i cant help you becuz im more of an American-accent guy 😓 im not an expert in english so maybe my opinion is wrong so 🤷♂️
Oh that´s okay, thank you!
Personally I also think that American accent is easier, but my school mostly focuses on British. It´s not like other accents are excluded, but we use this most of the time and in the upcoming school year we´ll have a speaking test, which will make it even harder.
polish native here. managed to get rid of my polish accent to an extent, but there's always an area for some improvement. What helped me the most was getting rid of polish content, like YouTube, news websites, Spotify podcasts, anything else like this. I completely stopped listening to it, and replaced it all with only English content on various topics. My favorite thing I have ever found was "Rotten Mango", that's a podcast about true crime, a really interesting one. But yeah, that was what helped me, not listening to polish for years (I switched being 14, am a 19 year old right now)
switched meaning that I absolutely do not allow myself to watch any videos/podcasts in polish, unless I really need to for let's say school purposes
I also stopped reading books in polish. Completely. And started reading them in English. That's not gonna help to improve the accent, though, it may improve the way you think, read, and recall words
But yeah. Listening directly influenced the way I speak myself
Tysm! I´ll try this one out, especially podcasts
You can also try reading stuff (like online articles) aloud and recording yourself. Then make some AI read the text for you, they are usually good enough to not make pronunciation mistakes in English. Use it only to read for you, not to translate anything, cuz AI messes up things in translation. This way you can figure out which words are too difficult for you to pronounce, you can note them down, and later work on them specifically
diki.pl is the most reliable english-polish dictionary I've ever used, and the good thing is that it has pronunciation recordings attached to the words
so if you find words that are difficult to you, you will know how to say them accurately
oh good luck on the test 😅
I don't even know that what English accent my school is focusing on 😅 actually there are teachers from Ireland, Philippines, ... all around the world combined, so I started to feel a little dizzy with the accents and I started learning English accent from Spotify songs and a bonus English school, which i learn during the weekend
I am also kazakh
Who can give me some equivalent synonyms for crowded.

Hi everyone. I just took a Toeic mock test and got 820 points. I took the test here (Test 1):
https://estudyme.com/en/test/toeic-test-simulation-test/
Any advice on how to increase Toeic score to >900?
My problem is I ran out of time on the reading part and left more than 10 questions unanswered, same to some questions from the listening test. I'm planning on taking the real test in the end of August. It would be a great help if someone with experience can give me advice about this. If possible, please recommend me with some useful studying resources too. Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the advice, this really boosted my confidence. I will try to revise grammar again and study new vocab.
Can anyone suggest me website where I can find articles about teaching English ?
https://tutor.afutai.com/ This website is great for all things learning
Welp from my exp and my friend's advice, you should try do the reading questions backwards. The questions are getting harder afterwards so why not try doing from the hardest to the easiest. I did it when I took the real test and it saved me some time. I did finish it on time and I got 980/990
good job tbh. I should take the advice too, cuz am not good at solving tests, my mind functions in very unusual ways
Hi team,
These days, my job requires me to deal with customers in the mechanical/factory field, and I think I lack sentence examples and vocabulary related to this area. Do you have any sources or ways to help me improve in this matter? My customers are from different countries (not English-speaking), so it is hard to learn on the job.
go to chatgpt and tell him what type of vocabulary do u need by giving him some context and tell him to give u like 30 words a day.
Oh, many thanks, Andrew. That is exactly what I have just done. Asking him to provide me with 30 words a day is a really good idea.
Np,keep going and wish U the fulfillment of ur objectives.

On call?
Hi everyone,
I'm an IELTS teacher looking to improve my teaching methods and provide better support for my students. I've been hearing a lot about AI tools that can help with various aspects of teaching, such as providing personalized feedback, tracking student progress, and simplifying complex assessment criteria.
I'm particularly interested in tools that can:
- Help students absorb information more efficiently
- Offer clear guidance on formal written language and assessment criteria
- Track and report on student progress effectively
Has anyone here used other AI tools for these purposes? If so, which ones would you recommend? I’m looking for something that’s easy to integrate into my existing teaching workflow and genuinely enhances the learning experience for my students. There is one to correct essays with detailed feedback I've found for your reference: https://www.cathoven.com/ielts-teachers-hard-to-give-useful-feedback/
Any suggestions or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I would also like to find someone to practice English with, if you're willing.

I'm planning to get an English certification, the thingy "ielts" aiming for either a C1 or C2 level. I would love to hear your recommendations for any good online courses that can help me prepare. I found a nearby city where I can take the exam, and it's recognized by Cambridge. Currently, I'm around a B1 or B2 level. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Since I wish afterwards to take an online course to be able to do English tutoring, such as private lessons online or other similar opportunities. Ideally, I want a course that provides a certification or something of value too once I complete it. ^^

Hi I'm C2, I have a TOEFL test next wednesday, does anyone have any resources or any important information I might need to know to get the highest possible score?
I don’t have any idea bro, sorry 🙏🏻 but if have found it could you please send it to me
you said you are C2. do not worry. just take the test.
Yeah ik but I really need to get above a 75 on this exam, 100-120 would be nice, 110-120 would be amazing
I'm using this score to apply to a government program in my country and I need a MINIMUM of 75 just to apply.
your claim of C2 expects you to get 110 or better.
you'll not drop below 95 - as long as you are confident.
Hopefully I get 110 or better

@fleet pawn
Great book to measure your progress. It's slow, very expressive, many big words, and not so many sentences that give away the meaning of the whole paragraph. So you have to pay attention to fully get it, but the key point is pronunciation.
You can use this book as one of the ways of marking checkpoints in the articulation part of your pronunciation learning. The easier you can read and understand this, you know some progress has been made.
It was like that for me, at least. I wasn't into reading out loud at first. This has helped me greatly.
You can listen to the audio version of many simpler books to grasp how well you should be able to articulate the characters and punctuation. Then, try to apply those things to this book. It's a classic - albeit very mechanic - way of learning your native language at school.
My highschool <language> teacher would tell us to read [a book] once for the sake of enjoying it, then again taking notes, and one more time to actively study it. That's still a stretch for me, though, I'd have to read way more than trice to fit this framework's timeline of events, but that's the thing: learn about how you learn.
And it's good to have some experience with everything. Being up to reading a book, but also up to an audiobook if it fits your time better, then try to read the book while mimicking the way you heard the narrator pronounce it on audio.
But don't force yourself to remember things. Let the audio play and go do whatever. Thing is: when you have a break to pay attention to the audio, even if for a minute, that's a minute more worth of a habit-building; of getting used to hearing things at a glance.
https://a.co/d/hSlcVXm
I used to listen to songs without ever paying attention to the lyrics. As I got used to the words during the day, I'd pay attention to a song for a an instant and hear a sentence perfectly. Then, my brain would connect the remaining phonemes I got so used to hearing for the the rest of the song, like liquid flowing down a web, until: "Oh! That's what the lyrics says!". And with little practice singing, all the pieces of rambling I could remember would turn into actual words, and the one's I didn't, would remain intelligible.
I also used to be very studying-phobic, because it was so painfully frustrating, even from a common sense pov, despite my learning difficulties at the time. I'd occasionally try something out of the fear of just stop learning things. Eventually, with no one to tell me how to study, I found out I could turn learning less-frustrating enough to make it not painful, only will-draining, which is an effect of the lack of habit, I reckon.
My point is, just try things out. Maybe you like to study, but been feeling ever so stressed because things are too still, so do the exact same thing, but standing up, or in a different room, or silent instead of out loud. Songs are nice, but you may notice you have perfect English when talking in rhythm, but awkward stuttering when explaining what you just sang in the normal flow of a conversation.
Well, then, you've learned (that personally) songs help with your articulation to speed ratio, as you build a rhythm during, let's say, an heated argument.
And books may help you improve your reading stamina, reading speed, punctuation understanding, word connecting, impersonation of other people's articulation, making up accents to enact a possible situation, remembering the words, and seeing what you can remember easier: the pronunciation, the meaning, or the reason why is sounds like it does. And so on, and so on.
TL;DR just do different things for the sake of finding out, you will learn what helps better and when
Hmm... I guess that was more of experience dump of a rant. Hope it made sense.

Hello
Hey, anyone here know LingQ? If so could you pls tell me if the texts and audio that are in American/British English... if its proper American and British, or just some knock offs with a hundred mistakes?
You guys share best resources wow
LingQ's text and audio are generally accurate, but like any language learning tool, it can have some minor inconsistencies. Users have noted that the text-to-speech (TTS) feature is fairly accurate for single words, but might struggle a bit with sentence-level pronunciation. Overall, it's a solid resource for language learners, but it's always good to cross-reference with proficient speakers and other reliable sources.
are there any other reliable apps or websites where i can listen to and read English at the same time? To have a second solid and trustworthy source😅 (preferably in american english)
That ''more trustworthy'' was a mistake from the translator, if you saw it
A reliable source that you can read and listen to English at the same time is the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. You can trust it for accurate information on American English without British influences.
Thanks! Is there also a website or app with full texts?
And Audio together
Yeah, FluentU is highly recommended for its interactive and engaging approach to learning English ❤️
if you’re just gonna use ai to answer questions, why not just send them the link to the bot or smth lmao

This is a tip that people might find useful:
Open two MSEdge instances. Put them side by side.
On the one call up the English webpage. On the other call up the same webpage and then select for MSEdge to translate it into your own language and it will do it for you
all at once as long as it is text and not a picture it should translate it.
Yes I know my example calls up a Dutch Web page and converts it to English but it illustrates the point.
See below. I circled the icon at the top that you use to get this to happen.
Now if your open up the same HTML file in both windows you can convert the one into your native language.
....
Next, if you have an epub book for example you can use a piece of software called callibre to convert it to HTML.
Personally, I first convert the epub to a docx file, open it in MSWord and then save it as HTML.
Then you can open that HTML file on both sides and have MSEDGE translate the whole book for you in one shot.
If you want to go even further, you can open the books HTML file in MSEdge and ask it to read it aloud to you. There are many voices that you can choos from.
This is an example of it that I posted in a Learn Dutch discord. But you can use it for English as well.
If you use Microsoft Edge, you can use the Read Aloud feature to read web pages (html files). They have about 5 or so voices in Dutch to choose from including Belgian Dutch which is what I prefer and have shown in the example. You can also change the speed of reading. It is the best aloud reader I have found so far and wanted to share it with others.
Sorry that the example is not in English but I think it will give you the idea of how useful it can be.
Of course, you can record that and save it as an MP3 to listen to in your car back and forth to work or while you go for a leisurely walk.
I didn't know where to put these tips so I put them under resources.
Any good website to practice for international exams please?

Ohhh you know dutch
This is a pretty cool web site. It lets you type in a word or group of words in double quotes and it will find youtube videos for you where these are found in the closed captions.
Here I am looking up the word conflagration. It shows the first video of possibly several.

You can move forward with the next button below.
You can also choose which version of English. see above

Anyone who can share a good 10/10 fiction novel pdf😭😭
Just read an inspector calls
I have an exam on it tomorrow but it’s a good book
Exam?
Do you mean the reading in Miss Belle's class or an actual exam at school
Would be a cool coincidence if you have an exam about it when there's also a reading of it here
Anyway, it's not a novel, so doesn't really answer their question
You do GCSE?
I did Inspectors calls for my GCSE, it was good tbf and I also went to the theatre to see it
I read around a chapter of this one (I'm a pretty slow reader lol) and liked what I read. I'm in love with the old prose. It was written in 1719, so it's a hard read but a nice challenge if you're up for it. I can't tell you if it's good or not in terms of story, but if you're like me and are more interested in the older style than the actual story, then you might like it:

'Robinson Crusoe'
yeah it’s a mock exam and ik miss belle has a class on it I reminded her of the play lol
I was telling her of how stressed I am with mocks and she goes ‘what do you have next week’ and I said English lit and she asks ‘what topics’ or smth like that and I said an inspector calls and then she says ‘omg I remember doing that in year 11, we could do that next week etc.’
Why tytyty
Yes I’m doing mocks rn and I hate it😭
Ohh, nicee. I'll actually be playing Eric then so I'm pretty nervous 😭
I love AIC but I hate Macbeth and all the poems
Ohh Eric’s my favourite don’t let us down girl
No pressure 😻
I'll try my best
rooting for you!!
I wish I could join tbf but her classes are always on when I’m in school
And at 11am I’ll be in the exam hall
So that’s not gonna work 💀
aw, that quite sucks :(
Well, I wish you good luck on your exam
you'll do great
Aww tysm I hope I do great at least it’s not a boring text
yeah, it's a pretty fun play
Thanks, will read it for sure

Hi can anyone practice English with me I am new please
👍🤩
can someone give me textbooks or any resource for IELTS preparation?
It does, singing tends to remove regional accents from words in a lot of cases, so it can be helpful for people who are still getting used to pronunciation.
hy anyone please help me learning english
It would be helpful for those who are already versed in the language. I believe singing tends to to remove regional accents only for a short duration, i.e., during someone's singing a song. When they sing a song, they strive to imitate the original voice. Were singing a good tool to enhance flawlessness, we would get to see a lot of accounts of everyone wanting to become a singer.
Singing or listening to a song is not a very good for learning a language either
At present, as we are dwellers of a modern life it's easier for one to get exposure to various things
Be it getting accustomed to hearing or speaking an accent, or anything
For non natives who are desirous of improving their speaking skills, spending the chief of their pastime with natives (by engaging in conversations) will help them
No @bold topaz singing is good for people who want to improve their English speaking for the reasons i said. In songs most accents don't show and you can learn good pronunciation of words. It's just one of the many things that can help people. You could benefit from it too because you regularly use outdated language that will not show up in 98% of songs. You seemed surprised that singing was helpful so i replied telling you how it is. Please don't just contradict what i said, you are not native and don't know this information so you should not be claiming that singing is not helpful for anyone.
Today I will be showing you my favourite exercise for expanding English vocabulary. It's fun, free and easy. Come with me as we learn new words and how to make them stick!

Hi,
Just call me Steven, and I am a senior full-stack developer based in Hong Kong.
While working as a full-stack developer on various freelancing platforms, I have encountered challenges due to regional preferences from clients. Many of my colleagues have successfully collaborated with EU or North/South America-based clients by registering their profiles within the EU/America, which has led me to explore similar opportunities.
I am seeking a reliable collaborator who can assist me with this. Specifically, I require access to an Upwork or Freelancer account and a small working space on your PC for sending proposals and communicating with clients. All development work will be handled exclusively on my laptop.
Your involvement would require minimal effort, primarily the initial creation of the account. In return, I am offering a percentage of my monthly income (10-20%). Alternatively, we can start with a fixed amount of $100 per month, which would increase to $300-$500 as our collaboration progresses. If everything goes smoothly, I am open to discussing a more flexible arrangement.
If you have an extra laptop that is not in use, that would be ideal. Even if you don't have extra laptop, it is alright. Otherwise, setting up a virtual machine as an alternative could work. By installing AnyDesk on the virtual machine, I would be able to access it remotely, ensuring that your main PC remains unaffected. Rest assured, I would have no access to your primary system or any personal data.
If you didn't register or use your Upwork account, my offer would be efficient use of it.
I am looking for a long-term collaboration and a strong partnership. If this opportunity is not suitable for you, I would greatly appreciate it if you could introduce me to someone—such as a relative, friend, or colleague—who might be interested.
I understand this may be an unusual request, so I am happy to address any questions or concerns and let's discuss details about possibility.
I believe this collaboration could be mutually beneficial, and I look forward to your DM/Add friend.
Steven
What is a good resource to improve analytical skills? Personally, I view my sentences as fairly structured, but I definitely struggle with linking sentences or describing language features, text structures and what not in the sources I'm analysing.
Hey,
regarding on how to have better flowing sentences, try searching for synonyms of linking devices you are already familiar with and using them in a sentence.
So, instead of always using "however", you could use "on the other hand" or "nevertheless".
Similarly when it comes to describing language features. Since there are so many, it is easy to overlook them within texts. Instead of painstakingly memorizing what each one does, I'd write a text passage that contains it. It's also more fun that way, just my humble opinion. 😅
Usually when describing one it goes like:
What is the language feature?
How was it used?
and, Why did the author use it?
Generally when writing analyses you want to cover the basic information first and then go into more detail as you get further in. Often it's good to annotate sections, in which you try to explain why the author specially wrote it in such a way.
Also, if you wish to be a more in depth there's also the "PEEL" approach.
P (Point): Start with a clear argument.
E (Evidence): Provide a citation, quote or example
E (Explanation): Explain how the chosen evidence supports your standpoint.
L (Link): Connect back to the main idea or a new argument.
This is just how I do it, hope this helps. Well, except for the "PEEL" method, it's a bit overkill for my purposes.
Of course, the most straightforward way of improving your English skills is just to read, but that's likely self-explanatory.
Although my answer wasn't quite a "resource" per-say, but it should still provide some value at the very least.

well yeah, it would be tough if you're not really on a high level yet. But anyway, good luck, your choice

I'd recommend Stephen King's books if you're into horrors, he taught me probably more than a thousand words
hi ,there was a teacher here who shared a book about common idioms , i was very well done and organanised , do anyone here have it ?
@junior relic I believe this discord has a word and idiom of the day to learn new words and phrases. I like to take these words and put into Speechful to generate exercises to help me practise saying those words. You can also use chatgpt if you like but I like the exercises Speechful generates.

My approach is pretty straightforward - read whatever catches my eye, from The Guardian and NYT to books. When I stumble upon unfamiliar words or phrases, I go to https://pickvocab.com/ to look them up and save them for later review. hey guys, its a page or something when u can find mock exams? for b2
hey Bjumps. On speechful ai I did full exam mode speaking tests twice already, on different days. And I got overall band score 8.0. How trustworthy is that website? I heard about it here and tried it out. I think it's being extremely generous to me and I should assume 6.5 or 7.0 instead of 8.0... What do you think?
Hey @crude moat I think currently they do not assess for grammar and lexical resource for part 1, so I’m guessing your pronunciation score must be good to get a high overall band score like 8.0! I have also contacted them about it and they said they will introduce assessment for those 2 aspects on speaking part 1 soon.
Do you think the pronunciation and fluency score accurately reflects your skills?
Thank you. I got like this in two full tests in exam mode. I'd say maybe 8 or 7 for my fluency and pronunciation but on the other hand, my grammar and lexical seems even lower than what I'd expect
For me, the grammar and lexical is as accurate as a person because even my teachers sometimes give me scores that differ by 1 band for similar performance. What I like is that there are the feedback to help me get to next band so that I can improve my answers for a better score. I like to use the individual mode and restart the part after I get feedback so that I can practice it immediately
where from did u take this test?
https://www.speechful.ai/ - It was suggested on this channel before. "Get your dream IELTS score with Speechful

@crude moat @amber parcel Seems like there is now writing assessment on Speechful. I've just tried it and its quite nice that I can just upload my handwriting 😆 Have you guys tried it or know other platforms for me to work on my IELTS writing?
britishcouncil?
Is it free? I thought we would need to pay for British council
can self study though, try to compare your writing with the samples there, and search other sites too.
I see. I’ve been following those sample answers too but it’s hard to see how to improve, so it’s cool that I can get specific feedback to improve my writing on Speechful 👍
yah, send to me
well, how about u try to write some tasks, then you can try to message some IELTS teachers in this server. if they are available for it.
Will do! 👍
can anyone suggest me a grammer book for highschool english?

It doesn't seem to go above 8.0 ever, might still be in active development. Feedback is also quite limited for now. I'd much prefer chatgpt 4o model I am using. For speaking that platform is ideal.
Yeah, I think band 8 and 9 are pretty close so it depends on examiners to give the score. Hope they will update it soon but I think you can treat it as band 9 if you consistently get band 8 already!
Does chatgpt 4o assess up to band 9?
I was actually using chatgpt 4o (specifically asked for 9 band essay) to submit essays there and even after taking feedback 2 times, it never gave me band 8.5 or 9. That's why I am saying the writing module seems to be off.
I see. I think you can leave a feedback for them on the platform and they probably will go address it. I think their assessment may be more on the stricter end, so if you do get 8, I’m sure you will achieve more than that in the real test! All the best on your upcoming test!
Hey everyone! I made a Notion dashboard to help students (like me) stay organized with their classes, assignments, and goals all in one clean layout. I’ve been using it all semester and finally decided to package it up as a template. It’s up for $5 right now with a bonus checklist for finals week. If that sounds helpful, feel free to DM me and I’ll send over a preview or the link ✌️
Hey, a bit off topic but wanted to share a Chrome extension I made to help with distractions. Hope it helps others too!

hi, i have booked my c1 exam, do you have any website where I can excercise?
I built a EPUB book reader with an integrated AI dictionary that helps understand difficult words and complex phrases based on context so that you don't need to switch between book and dictionary/google anymore.
The tool is available for free - explore the demo and test it out at: https://pickvocab.com/features/book-reader.
Which language? English right?

In that link you have several options

Try to use "daily dictation English" for listening, it's the best application Ive ever seen.

Hello, dear fellow members of this community.
May I have any recommendation on a free website to practice listening?
Wait
I think i should've said "of" instead of "on"
"For" would be the correct word to use there, but honestly saying "on" is what a lot of native speakers I know would say.
Hello hru
I'm good
