Can you guys judge my accent? All comments are welcome, really
The song is After Hours by The Velvet Underground
You can point out anything that make me sound weird or difficult to understand.
I'm not confident about my vowels and I actually have difficulty hearing the correct pronunciation
hey, im working on a documentary for a speedrunning history of Super Mario 64 DS. Although, I'm brazilian, and im afraid of dubbing the video in english, due to heavy brazilian ascent. May i send my recordings here? also, would u rather a ascent-heavy dub or just a subtitled video dubbed in another language?
I want to make the video in english bc most of the community are non-portuguese speakers
its easier for me personally to give u feedback if u not sing. because when u sing the instrument kinda make me difficult to listen to ur pronounciation. and when u sing.

For for some itās hard to judge your accent. Itās quite easy to judge if you are a native speaker. You have a very good voice and itās easy to understand. Well done

Thanks@river lance it's because I think what I should say next

I could say it faster but then i slur many words
That's why I keep it at a slower pace

my cousin (this time) eng isn't his first lang BUT DAMN
How to pronounce the "t" sound in words such as "but", "right", "that", and so on?
I heard someone saying that you have to hold your tongue and stop breathing for a moment, but I'm not sure if I get it properly.
It depends. Some people say the "t" sound strongly but not others
yes it can help, or you can just don't say the "t" sound. Like in the word "butt"
hey guys! could you please judge my accent? i know it's super bad and i really wanna improve, i just don't know how and i'm really shy! thanks a lot!
also don't be rude hahah https://voca.ro/1kpt64b5RTgk š
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Not Bad, I could understand it !
that's wrong ! you should place your tongue between your upper and lower
there are two ways to pronounce it.
I just saw this, so I apologize for any lateness.
To properly pronounce "t" in those terms, you put your tongue to the roof of your mouth (right before your front teeth) and then blowing it lightly to make a clicking noise. Attached is my own pronunciation of the terms - I purposely emphasized each sound to make it easier for you to mimic.
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Your accent isn't bad. It can be worked on, of course, but you are, for the most part, understandable. To improve your pronunciation, I can only suggest listening to someone read a book to you (i.e. audiobook) while you read the text, or by talking with other speakers and learners every so often.
I understand your stress and rage, though. It's definitely annoying to have an accent from your first language transfer to your second (it's that way with my own second language). However, it isn't harming your English accent much.
You're doing really well. Feel free to join the English voice chats here whenever you want!
Are there Americans out here ?
I have an American accent, if that's preferred. What's up?
Thatās cool me too, Iād like to improve my fluency, because Iām slow and sometimes I think automatically in French
I am American, a key thing to keep in mind is that Americans have different accents and also say somethings differently depending on the region. But practice helps, and sometimes either u can go in the vc with someone, maybe watch some movies, or listen to an audio-book.
Vc you mean vocal?
yea voice chat
To me itās better to have an American accent than a foreign accent⦠but itās my opinion. A regional accent is good for meā¦
I think my American accent is already great, I just lack practice
Anybody wanna vc
Yes

I'm a native, and I can't even pronounce my ths....
it's tricky y'know
dw too much ab it :)
hi, I am a native Korean speaker practicing my American English accent. i know my accent is quite off sometimes, but can't explicitly verbalize what's wrong with it. any feedback would be greatly helpful!! š¤ (feel free to destroy me lol)
audio: https://voca.ro/1fB39wn8bcMF
text: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/baTWMegR42PAsH9qJ/generalizing-from-one-example
nice accent
vowel sound in **did **sounds a bit off in my opinion
š
Your voice is very clear and understandable. Maybe the things that sound a little bit off is either some D or T sounds being kinda strong sometimes and some of the vowel sounds are off
Your accent is brilliant but I think you are trying to pronounce the words fast sometimes and it makes you turn back to your native accent. In the beginning It was hard to find mistakes but when you continue to read the text in the 'r' and 's' i heard some mistakes (also my opinion btw). Maybe you can stop and continue to read after the sentences or the words. 'a' word was really good btw. You are at very good level and I hope you get well too.
Hello guys! I'm practicing english pronunciation. I'm not that good as of now, could you judge my accent for me to know what are the things I should improve? The passage I read is from the book "Essays that will change your life" Here's my record https://voca.ro/1e6bp3a4oG3B
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Idk what my accent like BTW I'm not that good at English
accent sounds familiar š¤
here are some words to work on:
assume - sounded like [shum] should be [soom] or [syoom]
influx
vulnerable
/th/ in they
you got this
just out of curiosity, were you a lil nervous while reading?
I only listened up to a certain part. I mean the first few min is enough to know you read quite nicely.
The only parts I didn't quite get were parts where you tripped over your words.
I don't read the accompanying text while listening the first time. Then, I check parts I didn't quite get afterwards, listening again to make sure it's that part.
"who among other achievements" --> I think you were gonna say "who among others achieve" and then self-corrected
My suggestions when you have to correct yourself in speech
- Accept that it's ok to make corrections as you speak
- Correct yourself with confidence and move on š
- Correct the part that was wrong starting from a logical section.
Here, the mistake wasn't just achievement but from "others". And would make sense to start from "who among...". It would sound like this:
The debate was resolved by Francis Galton, a fascinating man who among others achieve... who among other achievements
You can even start as far back as a fascinating man if you like
" doubts the evidence" --> you said doubts the existence
This has less to do with English ability and more a tendency to predict what's gonna come next (it's normal lol)
y'know what 's trippy for me
saying words ending in /fth/ and /fths/ like in Saks Fifth and four-fifths. I'd try it on my phone's google assistant and sometimes it would pick up what I'm saying, sometimes it'd show me all sorts of different results
Hi im studying for my IELTS exam, id appreciate it if anyone gave me any feedback on my accent thank you.
We know that human language is far more complex than that of even our nearest and most intelligent relatives like chimpanzees. We can express complex thoughts, convey subtle emotions and communicate about abstract concepts such as past and future. And we do this following a set of structural rules, known as grammar. Do only humans use an innate system of rules to govern the order of words? Perhaps not, as some research may suggest dolphins share this capability because they are able to recognise when these rules are broken.
hello, I think it's great. š You sound a little bit British. Just a little š¤
are you working on a specific accent tho?
Yes British English, how is my accent?
sorry i didnt look at your roles.
it's beautiful. May be you could speak a bit clearer (?). š But may be it's just me. (Idk much about accents but I'm quite familiar with the British).
Good job! š
Ok I will try that, thank you so much!

Check this one "No one can escape the absolute necessity of technology in our daily lives. Each of us is so heavily dependent on technology that we cannot do anything easily without it.
Technology is important because it is used in all areas of life. When you contemplate your daily routine and count all the technology gadgets you consume in just one day, you will realize how important technology is when you use mobile, watch TV, drive a car, and use a computer or any electrical machine.
In fact, day after day is increasing depending on technology whether during communication or transportation or search for any information or even entertainment.
Humans have also reached the moon with the revolution in space"
It's good! Really good, honestly. (Are you Russian or some slavic native?) The only thing are some of your vowels are not quite where they should be yet, but it didn't make it impossible to understand. Listen back to how you say the u in 'consume'. And pay attention to stressed syllables! Listen to how you said the word computer in the sentence 'use a computer or any electrical machine', you almost omitted the 'p'
No I'm Egyptian
Thnx for your notes, I will try to improve my myself and focus on vowels
well I was completely off š but I guess that's a good thing, no?
Indeed
It's totally fine
I didn't practice so often and I didn't concentrate on vowels, that's why so I guess I get 7.8 or 8 @late sorrel
Its amazingly beautiful
Its so clear
Btw can i borrow this text for the same purpose or you do have a problem with it?
Go ahead and thanks for your kind reply
listened without reading as usual and I understood every sentence despite some words not sounding accurate
Word stress (it sounded like all syllables had equal stress. stress should be on the 2nd syllable):
necessity
dependent
depending
/p/ maybe too soft:
computer sounded a bit like commuter
ur 'consumer' i'd think English UK, but ur mobile was English US. prolly doesnt matter. mine's a mix too if i don't think about it. but something to note if ud like to be consistent throughout
also, "technology gadgets" " day after day is increasing depending on technology" "revolution in space"
feels a lil off
i think i'd just say gadgets or tech (technological) gadgets
maybe like,
Day after day we are increasingly becoming dependent on technology whether for communication, transportation, searching for information or even entertainment.
Also, humans have reached the moon during the Space Race
Thx salah
Your accent so cool
Thnx for your informative and helpful response
No problem
You are welcome
Thnx very much
I just use this text to record my own's speech. Tq so much
Np anytime
About listening to audiobook, do you mean listen first, read second, correct the different one with the speaker?

Hi everyone
Hi
Yes
You sound really good, but I can't figure out what accent you're trying to do.
Thanks, I don't really know what accent I'm trying to do haha, it's just how my accent has become over the years

Hello people, please let me know how it sounds
your accent is understandeable enough and its good, just try not to stress your vowels for too long
Ok thank you
Hello. Learning eng. by watching British (dr. who, the witcher) series for 1-2 months.
"In electronics, the Gilbert cell is a type of mixer. It produces output signals that are proportional to the product of two input signals. Such circuits are widely used for frequency conversion in radio systems.[1] The advantage of this circuit is the output current is an accurate multiplication of the (differential) base currents of both inputs. As a mixer, its balanced operation cancels out many unwanted mixing products, resulting in a "cleaner" output."
i finally did a recording haha
so i was raised bilingual, with English being one of the languages, but I'm not from those countries you'd usually associate with English speaking, so I wonder how I'd sound like to you guys
I'm not trying to do any accent. this is just how I speak
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
thought I'd talk about a chosen topic so you get a better idea how I'd normally talk about something and how I organize my thoughts
maybe I'll do another recording where I'm reading stuff
and here's me reading the first few paragraphs of Neil Gaiman's Coraline
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
"CORALINE DISCOVERED THE DOOR a little while after they moved into the house. It was a very old houseāit had an attic under the roof and a cellar under the ground and an overgrown garden with huge old trees in it.
Coralineās family didnāt own all of the houseāit was too big for that. Instead they owned part of it. There were other people who lived in the old house.
Miss Spink and Miss Forcible lived in the flat below Coralineās, on the ground floor. They were both old and round, and they lived in their flat with a number of ageing Highland terriers who had names like Hamish and Andrew and Jock. Once upon a time Miss Spink and Miss Forcible had been actresses, as Miss Spink told Coraline the first time she met her.
āYou see, Caroline,ā Miss Spink said, getting Coralineās name wrong, āboth myself and Miss Forcible were famous actresses, in our time. We trod the boards, luvvy. Oh, donāt let Hamish eat the fruitcake, or heāll be up all night with his tummy.ā
āItās Coraline. Not Caroline. Coraline,ā said Coraline."
"In the flat above Coralineās, under the roof, was a crazy old man with a big mustache. He told Coraline that he was training a mouse circus. He wouldnāt let anyone see it.
āOne day, little Caroline, when they are all ready, everyone in the whole world will see the wonders of my mouse circus. You ask me why you cannot see it now. Is that what you asked me?ā
āNo,ā said Coraline quietly, āI asked you not to call me Caroline. Itās Coraline.ā
āThe reason you cannot see the mouse circus,ā said the man upstairs, āis that the mice are not yet ready and rehearsed. Also, they refuse to play the songs I have written for them. All the songs I have written for the mice to play go oompah oompah. But the white mice will only play toodle oodle, like that. I am thinking of trying them on different types of cheese.ā
Coraline didnāt think there really was a mouse circus. She thought the old man was probably making it up."
bo oh o' wo'ah
love that movie
the book's fun too haha
i recommend just choosing a topic and saying a few things about it. but you can also read stuff. a paragraph from a book, an article online, a random Wikipedia page
Hello everyone, I'm new to discord and this server.
Could you please tell-
How can I improve my english speaking?
Do you guys have a regular conversation on a random topic to improve speaking?
What is this channel about?
You can refer to #š¹ļ½information and feel free to ping me up if you have any doubts. Have fun learning
Okay, thank you :)
Can anyone tell me how is it? I was reading the first chapter of a book.
that was scary like voiceover in horror movies
It was like 2AM when I recorded it no way HAHA my voice was really raspy
No wonder I've had quite a few people tell me I have a male voice lmao
lmaooo
I can hear clearly that it's woman's voice
So no worries š
how is my accent guys??????????????????????????
Recently got braces and people have been telling me my accent sounds strange now.
What do you think my accent sounds like? Any specific region?
Thanks in advance
Exert I read:
"It was on their first day at the house that Rosie saw the stranger child. Standing at the sink,
her hands deep in suds, Rosie was overwhelmed by the tasks that lay ahead of her. Tired
after the long drive from London the evening before, she gazed vaguely at the sunlit,
overgrown garden where Sam and Cara were playing.
The sash window had old glass that blunted the image, wavering the straightness of fence
and washing line, pulling things out of shape. Sam was kneeling beside the patch of earth
that Rosie had cleared for him, making hills and valleys for his matchbox cars "
Hi
Good accent
i think you did a pretty good job!
"The ground is full of magnetic elements. Iron, nickel, cobalt.
The ocean's floor is [lying with/lined with] them too."
I'm practicing my listening skill. Which of the two is the right one that actually was said? Both make sense in the sentence. Someone goes for the first, but another person for the second. It's confusing.
I'd go with the second one. To be fair, I've never heard lying with in such a context so it wouldn't sound right to me
Thank you so much for answering.
I think second :p I've never heard of lying with b4
oop answered
so ye ^
Thanks š I hope I improve my accent in the future yet
mhm your doing great! also thereās no need to put āyetā at the end of your sentence (just letting you know)
Welcome new

Trying to improve my accent because I“ve always thought I speak like with a potato in my mouth
u sound better than me-
I don't like my accent and trust me it is way worse
weird
Hi
I need someone to talk to me on vc, i know u gonna say that, ( why don't you just go to the vc) . It feels really weird and not comfortable when u have to improve your language asap by talk to the strangers, who don't know how to act like kind and sophisticated plus they always makes fun of you and your religion.
Trust me I'll respect you. Please try to understand that i need to improve my fluency asap, cuz I've got an offer for a job. And theirs only requirement for this job is english fluency. Which i haven't fully mastered yet. Please! Help me i don't wanna lose this opportunity š„
Well I promise I will never make gun of your religion
Ping me when you are free
We can talk after school if u want :)
I need some speaking improvement too
@elder vapor what's your native language
So guys I'd appreciate your help and taking the time to judge my English Accent.. Thank you so much
oooh, your english is not that bad, you just need to keep using english a bit more. your accent, it's probably just me, but you do have a bit of a slavic accent, and a bit of an american accent. I'm not really good at determining an accent.
and here's mine. i need to know what accent that I'm using (since i mixed several accent whenever i talk)
here is the script if you need it
ah. You're finally awake. how do you feel?
I Know i know, you're probably wondering. Who am i? Where are we?
Let's just say, I'm nobody. but you can call me anything you like. But i do prefer being called Arthur
As for the second question, obviously we are deep within the forest.
Why are we here? you might be asking to yourself.
Well, I'm more or less the guardian of this place. As for you, I just found you lying down unconscious by the river. I Thought you passed out because of thirst and exhaustion.
but looking from the scratches on your arm and your face, that does not say anything about thirst nor exhaustion.
You are lucky that i found you.
For now, just take a rest. If you are hungry, i already prepared a soup right there beside you.
I advise to not wonder around the forest in the dark, as there are quite a lot of dangerous creatures roaming around at night. It is much safer to go during the day.
Well. I'm gonna go and find more people that might share the same fate as you. If you need anything, just wait for me.
damn man, sounds like an actual voice actor :DDD
frr
u sound amazing but you sound like you lack the cofidence
u r doing good
just speak motr
is this u :0
u r great
cheers, any idea for the accent that i'm actually using?
cheers
that's a thing of mine, also one of the reason why i asked about it in the first place
judge my accent
i didnt know what to say, so i just read the fast part in eminem's rap god
why did i do this š³
0.0 ur accent is fine but weird thing to read
lmao, this is cool
Iām quite impressed ( you kept in character for the majority of the time. I didnāt really hear you change your accent much. You kind of had a Pierce Brosnan sound. Uk āishā tone . Very mellow. When you were changing is where it gives away your accent if that makes sense
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Would be really nice to get some feedback, thanks guys
I think you are making a good effort. Keep practicing and you will get better. I know your goal is to make it sound like you are a native speaker but for me itās still easy for me to tell. But in my opinion when I head accent I think of the word acting. Like I can do and accents poorly but you would be able to tell that Iām not from that certain country if that makes sense
If you guys want I have a small amount of time to speak ( I just canāt be loud and I can explain more ) go to the lounge and I will explain what I mean
thanks for the advice, I will join
@pallid garnet Hey I am in lounge
Anyone else
@pallid garnet come
ā
ah cheers.
That's quite impressive
Thank you
Wait i wanna do this
you're native
yeh
For me you really sound like a native speaker. I don't have any advice coz I am myself not even fluent.
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Throw some good feedbacks on me

I'm a native speaker and I understood everything you said - most is said correctly with the right grammar.
Just 2 things however, you said "I have been learning English since 7 years" - The correct way is saying "I have been learning English for 7 years". Also, you said "I start speaking English last year" - you should say "I started speaking English last year"
Apart from that, pronunciation of words isn't too bad as I understood everything, good job!
Thx a lot and it really means so much for me
I will work on that area
no problem! keep it up
Hi
hey Mg
Thanks man, really appreciate it!
For you, I'd say try to not pause in between while speaking a sentence and you would sound much better, but other than that it was good!
Thx for the feedback bro

Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
He started to walk around the pool again. He had given Kandata a chance to get out of Hell, but Kandata showed that he was a truly bad person, and so Buddha had to send him right back to Hell. He seemed very sad at this. Meanwhile, the flowers in the pool continued to smell lovely. They continued to make their beautiful smell all throughout Heaven, and they did not think of Kandata. The green spider continued to make its golden thread, and it did not think of Kandata. It was a normal day in Heaven, and soon it would be noon. Once, there was a horrible king. He loved killing people. If someone bothered him, he said, āFight me!ā and made the person fight him.
How much Time need to fluent in English!? Like American native speakers
Person by person, might take longer or not so long for some people
Id say not to worry too much about progress, just keep learning
Personally, I hadnt even realized how advanced my level became through my years of learning - it was a gradual process for me
Dude, you're pretty fluent. You just have a bit of an accent. But that's what makes you unique
Keep up the good work man
I wanna do this but im too s c u r e d
Bro just try it first
Hey, guys! Would appreciate if you could rate my accent. Thank you
Here is the excerpt - "Century Casinos, Inc. is a gaming company based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The company operates ten casinos in Colorado, Missouri, West Virginia, and Alberta. It also operates casinos on four cruise ships for TUI Cruises.[3] It owns a 67 percent share in Casinos Poland, which owns and operates seven casinos in Poland.[4][5]"
iām not native but honestly i think itās beautiful
For the most part, the accents perfect imo
There was only a few points where an accent really stuck out, and that was on the pronunciation of "Casinos", "wikipedia", and "west virginia" and sometimes your words didnt blend together too well
Apart from that, in terms of the diction you're using - it sounds just like a british english speaker I think
Hello, can i ask someone who are native english speaker to mark my essay? I really need it since tomorrow is my English exam. If u r interest, i will pm u the essayšš
Thank you, gizemli
I really appreciate your feedback š
I'm not a native, but I might be able to help you, uyu
I'm sorry but someone already helped meš š
Why sorry? It's good to see that there are excess of people that wanna help š
Isn't that great!
In my opinion when it comes to grammar non native speakers are the way to go lol.... Native Speakers can relate lol
Yeah for sure, I've been living in the UK for the past 17 years, don't ask me any grammar questions
I just know what sounds right and what doesn't
I'm not native, but I understood everything completely, you're pretty fluent, but you should still practice to be more fluent. Keep up the good work, man!
Lol I do this too haha

Dude your English is pretty good, everything was understandable, and you practically sound almost like a native, but I'd say keep practicing so that your pauses aren't too long. Great work man, and keep it up!
Well the entire point is that theres no script-
I have to like form my sentences
Yeah ik ik, but don't pause too long man
Pretty good though
Lol yeah I get it man, that's why, keep practicing brotha
Iāll listen later in the day when I can, and Iāll get back to you, okay?
Okay, your voice is so soothing that I believe you should be an yt narratorš„° you really almost sound like a native boy
There were just some words where your accent appeared a little bit
But at your young age, you probably will be able to adjust that
With words such as ātookāand āRussiaā for example
(Your voice is still beautiful tho
)
Congrats

Excerpt from the book "The Story of My Life" by Helen Keller
- The morning after my teacher came she led me into her room and gave me a doll.
The little blind children at the Perkins Institution had sent it and Laura Bridgman had
dressed it; but I did not know this until afterward. When I had played with it a little
while, Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word "d-o-l-l." I was at once
interested in this finger play and tried to imitate it. When I finally succeeded in
making the letters correctly I was flushed with childish pleasure and pride. Running
downstairs to my mother I held up my hand and made the letters for doll. I did not
know that I was spelling a word or even that words existed; I was simply making my
fingers go in monkey-like imitation. In the days that followed I learned to spell in this
uncomprehending way a great many words, among them pin, hat, cup and a few verbs
like sit, stand and walk. But my teacher had been with me several weeks before I
understood that everything has a name.
One day, while I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan put my big rag doll into
my lap also, spelled "d-o-l-l" and tried to make me understand that "d-o-l-l" applied to
both. Earlier in the day we had had a tussle over the words "m-u-g" and "w-a-t-e-r."
Miss Sullivan had tried to impress it upon me that "m-u-g" is mug and that "w-a-t-e-r"
is water, but I persisted in confounding the two. In despair she had dropped the subject
for the time, only to renew it at the first opportunity. I became impatient at her
repeated attempts and, seizing the new doll, I dashed it upon the floor. I was keenly
delighted when I felt the fragments of the broken doll at my feet. Neither sorrow nor
regret followed my passionate outburst. I had not loved the doll. In the still, dark
world in which I lived there was no strong sentiment or tenderness. I felt my teacher
sweep the fragments to one side of the hearth, and I had a sense of satisfaction that the
cause of my discomfort was removed. She brought me my hat, and I knew I was going
out into the warm sunshine. This thought, if a wordless sensation may be called a
thought, made me hop and skip with pleasure

you sure english isn't your native language homie?
If u are this good in English, canāt even imagine ur French

Im sure :,)
I appreciate the sentiment though :D
Much more worse; I've been learning English for WAYYY longer than I've been learning French. More than that I've developed this problem with accents - When I see latin letters, I automatically default into a more English accent because I've associated the latin alphabet with English
And I have this same problem with other slavic languages, since I automatically default Cyrillic to Russian, being that it's my native.
Too convoluted, all this.
In total, I've been exposed to English for nearly all my life but I've only seriously learned it for like 5 - 6 years so
But I put all my time in learning it into grammar and accent, so I'd say that I'm still lacking in vocab
BUT THAT'S FINE
I wouldn't have joined this server if I thought myself to be perfect

Hmmm....
well read but if you are going for a "Native accent" you are getting there ( You had good runs with your accent but could tell you broke out of it a few times )
Its unfortunate when you ask "natives" they can almost instantly tell if someone is or isn't native within the first couple words

The moons and stars were hidden from sight, making that particular quiet night especially dark. The town guard had to carry torches to make their rounds; but the man who came to call at my chapel carried no light with him. I came to learn that Movarth Piquine could see in the dark almost as well as the light - an excellent talent, considering his interests were exclusively nocturnal.
One of my acolytes brought him to me, and from the look of him, I at first thought he was in need of healing. He was pale to the point of opalescence with a face that looked like it had once been very handsome before some unspeakable suffering. The dark circles under his eyes bespoke exhaustion, but the eyes themselves were alert, intense, almost insane.

I want to reach a near native accent to get good score on IELTS
You speak really well, well done! I understood everything. One pronunciation was wrong however, "quiet" is not pronounced the same as "quite". One more thing is "considering", you pronounced the s as z. Try to pronounce it with an s and it will sound better, but that is not a big deal. Everything else was very good, good job
Thank you very much! I will practice more by listening and checking the dictionary for the pronunciation, thanks, Seb š
Awesome, you're welcome!
āThe lightā (needs to be clearer ) (considering, interest needs to be stronger ) exhaustion (needs to be clearer ) @next ridge adding on to @ebon burrow (Sebs suggestions) I think you did really well. I however did catch some other parts of your speech you read. Keep up the good work

The Distances
This house, pitched now
The dark wide stretch
Of plains and ocean
To these hills over
The night-filled river,
Billows with night,
Swells with the rooms
Of sleeping children, pulls
Slowly from this bed,
Slowly returns, pulls and holds,
Is held where we
Lock all distances!
Ah, how the distances
Spiral from that
Secrecy:
Room,
Rooms, roof
Spun to the huge
Midnight, and into
The rings and rings of stars.

It sounds okay to me, but your accent would make some things hard to understand without the text though D:
Just a little tip for reading poems; sometimes you have to interpret where the end of a sentence isāespecially in more contemporary poems where punctuation is basically naught in the poemābut the general rule is if you see punctuation at the end of some lines and not others, you go into the next lines without a pause if there isn't a punctuation mark to say you should stop. Of course this isn't a set in stone rule, but it's good to keep in mind.
Excerpt from "Leech" By Hiron Ennes
The sight of this old train car saddens me, though I cannot quite articulate why. There is something unnamable about the rattling of the empty wooden seats, so like the pews of a deserted church, that puts me in a lonely humor. It is an unusual feeling, since I have never in my life been alone.
Jagged mountains rise and fall outside the window, dotted with white trees and the occasional lodge long since abandoned to the wild. It has been one hour and forty-two minutes since the last snow-shrouded sign of civilization crawled across the landscape, and it will be fifty-four minutes before the next appears. This is not accounting for delays, accidents, breakdowns, avalanches, or seismically-induced derailments.
The only other occupant of the car is a young boy, bundled so heavily he resembles a sphere more than a child. He sits alone because he failed to follow his mother off the train at the penultimate stop, but he does not appear distressed. The conductor promised to deposit him at the correct station on the return south, and he shrugged in reply, biting shyly at the forefinger of a well-chewed glove.
The train stops twice so workers can clear snow from the tracks, adding, according to my timepiece, forty-one minutes to the journey. It is not so deep into winter that such a delay will prove fatal, but I will arrive on the dangerous side of dusk. Perhaps that is for the better. The man I plan to meet at the station is not likely to be punctual, especially since he does not expect me. He may not even yet know of the death that brings me north.
The snow-laden firs bow their heads and shed motes of light as the sun slips between two western peaks. The boy squints out the window, drawing intricate outlines of mountains in his condensed breath and wiping them away with equal enthusiasm. I study him at play, noting his movement and development, his flushed cheeks, the herpetic sores at the corner of his mouth. He is a charming creature.

You sound like a native, however an interesting word you said was "export" - you pronounced it as "export", emphasising the "port". So you basically said "ex" quickly, then said "port" and dragged it out. Usually with words that can be both a noun and a verb, they have different pronunciations - for verbs, you emphasise the ending of the word (like you did), but for nouns you typically pronounce the beginning (Export).
E.g
"This car is an EXport"
"Just exPORT it"
u did sound native with that word too

anyone can rate this
This guy can rate i believe
If the rating needs to be on intelligibility, then about 8.5-10 (speech might become a bit confusing at times in quick everyday discourse, but it's 100% comprehensible and easy to understand.)
If purely from an accentation and dialectical point of view, 5-6 perhaps? It's a mix of an american and a british accent, but doesn't seem to be a trans atlantic. If you want to retain the foreigner vibe whilst being as intelligible as possible, or convey a certain message, such as me talking like in RP, nothing wrong with that, but if you would like to imitate a native, you should probably choose which kind and stick with it
Some words could be improved upon, such as new orleans and route, but speaking slowly might fix that as well.
You have a nice voice though š
im not familiat with american cities like new orleans
so i have a hard time pronouncing them
I see
you form SEA?

The first part is the only part that needs work, aside from that, pretty good
It's an American accent, but I still believe that I could be of some assistance.
It sounds good; the places where you could improve is the accentation of each sentence i.e. whether it's going up or down at the end of each sentence.
Listening and repeating after audiobooks in your desired accent would help.
Another thing is some consonants, such as 'th'
It's a very difficult one, and will need practise.

if I compare the text with your recording, there are quite a lot of words that you may repeat or pronounce incorrectly.
Take notes of words that you find difficult or long to say, then figure out how to pronounce them. do it until smooth and uncomplicated on the tongue. If you have difficulty pronouncing a word that you feel has a similar tone or sound, give it a little pause so that the listener understands.
Hope it helps šš¼šš¼

The pronunciation of "Caramel" is wrong
Up to you..
write on google the word or open an online dictionary, hear the pronunciation and read the pronunciation correctly, imitate and try to record it. Immerse in thoughts and make new correct mentions
How do you pronounce it?

It can be ca-ra-mel(the way I say it)

Hello
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Me too, feel a little nervous when I speak to someone in the past. Communication is the means by which we build a relationship, and it is very important. It's better if you take seminars and training both offline and online on how to speak in public, and read material about knowledge of communication and apply it with the closest people. Maybe you are worried about a bad response from other people but remember, first try whatever results you get will be a valuable lesson.
And one day when you become a leader, it is communication that allows you to move them and lead the business and the work you run. šš¼šš¼
Cool, the human ear declines in function as we get older, this of course makes it difficult for us to catch what you are saying if you speak quickly. When we speak, of course, what we want is our message to be conveyed, therefore we need a tempo in speaking, especially when speaking to the elderly.
we talk to convey a message but if you can speak fast and pronounce it correctly maybe you are the rapper singer of the future XD š¤
I do understand what u say and If I have to be honest ur accent is great!
I completely understand everything you say and your accent is great, however when you say "Gibberish" that G is pronounced like a J, that's really the only mistake I can hear in this.
@wooden carbon Pretty
š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
Practise cutting off speaking along with any 'uhh' and 'uhms' when you are nervous. Replace that with absolute silence, as if you're thinking. It comes off as much more confident.
Also,
Speaker at a slower tempo in general; it will be easier to remember words that way.

Hi
hi

My biggest issue is the letter P. I feel like Im consuming too much energy to pronounce the letter since it doesn't exist in my mother tongue language.
new or-leens
pe kahn
agen
sir up
to say the letter P, it's kinda like making a popping sound
depending on the next letter
obviously don't make a pop, but the motion is similar
When I pronounced pecan I was thinking about bacon with a P (pecan is a new word for me)
Kinda disappointed I mispronounced something easy like again and syrup
Could you elaborate on this part please?
its not necessarily a complete difference, its just how its pronounced
my bad
like in potato, you stay in the P position longer than if you were to say something like please
does that make sense? if not then don't worry about it, just focus on pronunciation
it doesn't really matter
Is it like one of these if a vowel/constant comes after P rule?
this one
although not a lot of people say whom
and yea kinda like that i guess
but is it correct to use whom?
Yes it's correct to use whom
"im talking to her"
what about this
what do you do for a living
or
what do you do for living
which one is correct?
Heyah! It's me reading a text in English. I'm a native Russian speaker but I've been trying to improve my accent for quite a while. The first variant is me trying to speak with an American accent, in the second one I speak without putting any effort to the articulation process.
you speak more advanced english than most russian speakers that I have met insofar as you have, to a greater degree, the correct cadence and tone of an english speaker, putting emphasis on the right syllables and words 95% of the time.
with that in mind, some mispronounced words:
copy https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/copy
reproduce https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/reproduce
share https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/share
egg https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/egg
but as for the hard part of getting the macro-level rhythm down, you're doing well and should simply continue to practice listening and reading aloud as i presume you already are
Thanks for the analysis of my speech :)
Yeah, it still confuses me sometimes whether to use this or that sound in words, just a matter of practice I guess
And the hardest words for me to pronounce are the ones that we use in Russian as well
Like «copy»
oh really? is it a loanword?
