Probably you're feeling guilty or remorseful for wasting time,

It might feel that way, but you're just 17, you could do anything from now on, if only you can plan it precisely.

I mean forget about the lost opportunities or whatever the mistakes you have done, atleast try to get better from now on, gradually.

So I think your core problem is not being able to study well?!

I'm at the same boat, but it's okay.

Why are you not able to study well? Are you a procrastinator? Do you suffer with ADHD? Or the subjects are boring? Hard to understand and grasp? Or etc

If possible, try to know the reason.

Unless the subject is not interesting, you could try pomodoro technique, it helps. As we study only for 25 mins and take break of 5 mins.
Try this and do as many pomodoros as you can.

In order to study, first try to learn, like treat the academic books/subjects they have some interesting topics, I mean think of them like random new information you're just knowing or learning, without burdening yourself with remembering them or memorising them perfectly.

Like first if you know it and understand it, (you could automatically remember it, if not, study it again and repeat it until you could remember it, but first try to just learn it casually, like don't think about the outcome, just read like, you're knowing new interesting things. ((Just like watching a YouTube video about random interesting facts))

And if possible try to get a study partner or a study group.
It helps a bit as they'll pull you from the habit of procrastinating.

If you don't understand the subject or the way your teachers are teaching - try to find better study videos about that same subject/topic from YouTube.

If the subject is really too much to cover - first try to Google the topic, you'll get an idea and then you can study it in detail later.(I do this when I have long essays to study and I have no time, I just google things, get to know them and write things on my own)

Try to limit out your distractions.

If the subject is interesting for you! Uhm i don't know, try to bear it or try to get atleast minimum marks in that and balance it out with getting excellent marks in subjects which you're naturally good at.

If possible try to know your learning style.
For example if your learning style is through experiencing things, you could try practical sessions or etc or if it's visual, drawing diagrams, like creating graphs etc would be helpful.

But remember you're just 17, teenager! Your feelings are valid, but don't think it's end of the world, things will get better, in facts it's a good thing that you're worrying about studying, you could use that worry as a positive propelling force, instead of letting it wreck everything.

And I really wish that you'll attain the success you want.

Like if being mindful of your mistakes is just making your life more miserable and depressed.

I think in that situation it's better to leave off those memories.

Because one's mental health is more important than the mistakes they had made.

But yeah being mindful of one's mistakes is ideal too so we don't repeat them again and we learn something from them. (Unless those memories are just killing you, which in case, letting go is better.)
