Yes,it cannot disappear
this force varies inversely with the square of the distance, which weakens significantly over large distances
this does not mean that this force can cause movement
for example, if you apply force to move a cabinet, then you need to overcome the force of friction in order for the cabinet to start moving
it is also a force, but a very small one
I can't speak to that, as it's well outside my wheelhouse.
hello
I don't think this is a good solution
yes, I can organize this, I think everyone will be interested
well think more and talk less
be the observer
If you trust only your heart, which means that you rely on your emotions, then this is not entirely reasonable.
you must understand what you are doing and what it can lead to. It's also bad because you don't benefit from it. You are making the same mistake by wasting your time
so I think that "following your heart" is not entirely correct
well follow your mind emotions have no power over you think like a stoic
well then what do you think is the right one
I think a balance of the two, appropriate to the situation, is a good approach.
Some moments call more for emotions, while others are more cerebral in nature.
nice
Yeah.
As long as they're appropriate, obviously. 😆
Interesting title; it's piqued my interesting, for sure.
I'm listening. Give me a moment to listen and consider it.
is he a european?
He's British.
Specifically, it sounds like he's from England.
interesting OSM what do you think he is teaching
*frantically types counterargument*
He poses the question, "why are those words considered to be advanced English? Why is 'detrimental' more advanced [than bad]?
Oh dear. His conclusion is that they're advanced simply because they're "used with less frequency". I will absolutely push back on this!
My stance:
Words are more advanced because they are more nuanced, more complicated, are more specific to a use-case (e.g., philosophy), and, perhaps, the pronunciation of the word is harder (e.g., hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia). The frequency at which a word is said holds no relevance to the complexity of a word's meaning(s).
Not yet.
interesting!
OSM are you a history man
To rephrase: I posit that a word is advanced because it is more complex and more nuanced.
'bad' = very simple, with a general meaning. There is some colloquial use of it (e.g., 'badass'), but it's essentially a basic general-purpose word.
'detrimental' = much more nuance! If something is detrimental, it implies that it's damaging in some way (e.g., to one's health) and adds emphasis to the 'bad'-nature of it.
Example:
"My morality is bad."
This indicates the person's morality is simply not in alignment with what is good. It doesn't indicate damage; it's simply 'bad'.
"My morality is detrimental."
Much more nuance! Now this person is implying that his or her morality is so bad that it's detrimental — that is to say — damaging in some way, such as to his or her health or lifestyle, or perhaps even other people. There's much more nuance.
what do you think about morality and ethics OSM
A lot of things, but that's a huge can of worms to open that I don't really have the energy for at the moment. 😆 Maybe another time, though.
ok osm what brought you to discord
I wanted to help people with their English, basically.
It just so happened to evolve into a place I could also talk about philosophy, which was a nice happenstance. 🙂
nice
you are a man of determination
So, this guy in the video does raise a good point, which I'll paraphrase and fill out with my own words:
Essentially, while using more nuanced, 'advanced' words is at times very useful (e.g., in a field of study), it's true that a lot of people don't know or sufficiently understand the more advanced words you might use. Furthermore, it's possible that, due to the accuracy of the word connected to the thought or feeling, there's more room to get it wrong, leading to miscommunication and perhaps even arguments (the bad kind).
Actually, you can find evidence of this during debate, when it's a good idea to avoid definitional issues by clearly defining the word together, such that everyone knows what they're referring to. Have you ever had a heated discussion with somebody, only to find out you two had a totally different idea of what a word meant?
As an analogy, you can think of it like this:
You and your fellow students are in class. Your tutor is at the front, and there's a whiteboard next to her. She writes huge words on it with a broad-stroked marker.
Welcome to class.
You all understand, because the words are clear and easier to see, due to the clarity of the edges of the individual letters.
Now, the tutor writes in teeny-tiny writing, using a more accurate, but thin, marker.
Welcome to class.
Few can see the words. People have to squint. Some can understand, most can't. Some guess, most guess wrong, some are close. There's a general sense of confusion in the room.
While the small letters were fine and more detailed, they were much harder to see and read.
Lol, that reminds me of a very funny video I watched once.
it was titled something like "stop using Hi and Hello, use these words instead", and one of the so-called "advanced words" was literally "Bika Boo".
I mean, imagine yourself meeting someone and instead of casually saying "Hi", or "Hello", you say, "Bika Boo". 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I genuinely encourage people to be skeptical about from whom are they learning English.
I am ABSOLUTELY saying that next time.
"I genuinely encourage people to be skeptical about from whom are they learning English."
I think this is a great attitude to have, provided it doesn't lead to: "I'm skeptical! ...well, screw college, these teachers are liars, I'm just gonna [illegal thing] all day!"
I think scepticism is very healthy. I've lived my life as a sceptic. I think there's a negative connotation with the word 'sceptic', as though we're all nasty basement-dwelling fiends of the night. A sceptic is simply a person who holds back the addition of new knowledge into their brain, until satisfactorily compelling evidence or 'proof' is given or found.
Sorry, I've just realised I've been ranting for a while. 😆
nah, I think it's totally okay, you're really clearing some misconceptions. greatly appreciated. 🤍
its fine mate
The only thing which comes to mind, is to set yourself a challenge to learn and use at least 1 word every day. Even if you're just telling someone "Today, I learned the word [word], which means [meaning]." But, if you can, try to naturally include it into your speech.
If you've got any friends who're learning English, perhaps you could quiz each other on some advanced words and their definitions. You could come up with a point system and make a game of it.
you are like a wise man osm
Thank you. I'm only as wise as knowing I'm not that wise.
well but your wiseness is indeed a sign of a person that has the motivation to change
I'm almost 40, so I've gone through several changes in my life. I've always been big on self-learning and self-improvement, so perhaps that plays a part in it.
well you remind me of bernard alberstone in his famous video an old mans advice
I really appreciate that.

i think that words cant be related to any of English level , cuz you can even compare that situation with you mother tongue, for example there is the words “Дифференциация» and “разделение» in russian , tbf i didn’t even know the first one cuz it’s not popular and no one use that . therefore there are no “advanced words” there are popular and unpopular words
i’d like to say that i tried to learn these “advanced words” , too, but it didn’t make any sense cuz native speakers speak the way they want to and most often they use avverage words, why should they spend their energy to say a difficult word like “idiosyncratic” insteada “unique”. it doesn’t make any sence for em
Hi, I need to do an english proyect for tonight, and I was searching for someone to help me with it, it's a simple conversation (about 7 minutes long)
What kind of project is it?
just an english project to show our skills with another english speaker
any topic really
Oh, okay. I would be glad to help as an English native.
no, afraid not, know anyone who can have a voice call?
Oh, sorry no ☹️. Just for extra personal security, I don't talk to people online with voice. Sorry
If there's anything else though that wouldn't require talking on voice call, I'd be more than happy to help.
thanks

Hello everyone how are you doing this is kamal from iran
@tough gull hey! Sorry for tagging you, but can you change my name in the server please?
hello
you can do this in discord settings
Sadly, I don't have nitro to do that
no, you don't need nitro for this
Oh, I meant only on the server! Not in general
I know
Hm? I'm sorry I don't think I understand you then
Your argument seems to be:
- Words cannot be related to any English level.
- The classroom situation applies to other languages.
- Therefore, there are no advanced words.
The first premise (1) is false, because words can be and frequently are related to an English level; this is commonplace in academics. Paraphrasing your conclusion within a premise doesn't necessarily make your argument more compelling.
The second premise (2) is true. I assume you're referring to the classroom situation and not another situation. However, I made no claim that this wasn't true; in-fact, I had assumed this was a given. While the situation I described used English to illustrate the contrast between the big and small writing, the scenario itself was not specifying the English language, but "words".
The conclusion then brings me right back around to the earlier points I made, thus I find your argument unconvincing. Have I misunderstood you? If so, I apologise.
👋 What's the tea?
From a learner's perspective, I can appreciate the lack of a desire to learn more nuanced and complicated words. I certainly don't wish to learn a long list of such German words.
However, when you hear the many advanced words which some do speak, you'll have a limited understanding of what the speaker wishes to express.
as the saying goes always listen before you act
That depends on the person, but I have many friends from old schools and learn how to be social with all ages, all the way from baby's to seniors I learn lots of social skills from my friends at the church, but it all really comes down to your personality, I'm sorry if this offends you but I'm just trying to explain, it is hard for someone from physical school to understand homeschooling without an adjustment phase, we research a lot of things before starting formal homeschool.
Again sorry if this offends you, just trying to defend myself.

Hello everyone

OSM?
K
@thorny steeple cool where u from

whats the definition then mate
Philosophy typically asks the big questions. Who are we? How do we think? How do we communicate? What is the nature of existence? What does it mean? What is the nature of knowledge and can we really know something? What is reality and does it exist as we know it? What is the nature of being? What is religious belief and is there a god or gods? And so on it goes. Philosophy encompasses a lot of different views and studies, but I generally see it as asking the big questions and pondering them deeply.
A philosopher is one who studies these things, usually academically. Whether or not you could consider a non-academic person who philosophises on a regular basis a philosopher is probably a point of contention, but I'm inclined to believe they are, although I'm admittedly biased, due to my continued and now aggressive interest in philosophy.
Hello?
hi
hlo.
ok what do you think philosophy teaches in people
where you from
India wbu?
live in america
Ohkk.
lets talk in general chat
I am bit tired now. Maybe later.
ok
Primarily, I think it teaches us to ask questions and to think critically.
like thinking life doesn't give us the answers but sometimes we gotta look for the answers
Somewhat. Some people seem to float through life believing whatever they're told. Such people typically therefore don't challenge their own beliefs and knowledge, which can lead to continued ignorance, an unwillingness to learn, susceptibility to manipulation, and an inability to course-correct.
I think someone like that could benefit from philosophy. Granted, some people might have an interest in philosophy and still somehow manage to remain the same as described above.
yes like being true to yourself without losing your self in the process
Can you identify your true self? At what point do you become your true self? Keep in mind that we are ever-changing; who you are right now, will not be who you are tomorrow.
well isn't your lack of understanding what is your "self" in the first place what drives you to ask and look for answers to all the philosophical questions about it ?
sheesh what a tricky answer
And this is philosophy.
true or wouldn't it? OSM
well i overthink about it
I suppose you could say that you understand your self well enough to seek answers in philosophy, but this isn't a given at all. One could have largely lost their sense of self, their sense of identity, through a brain injury, but still find themselves conjuring up the meaning to life.
~🧐☕
philosophy is the process of knowing asking questions and believing right?
That sounds more like epistemology, which is a part of philosophy.
well the more you know whats epistemology?
while it's true that a sense of self can be challenged by various factors, including brain injuries, the pursuit of meaning in philosophy often transcends individual experiences. even in the face of identity challenges, the human curiosity to understand existence remains a powerful force. perhaps, the search for meaning serves as a compass, guiding us through the complexities of identity, even when that identity itself is in flux.
The study of knowledge and what it means to know.
One of Beatles famous song "let it be" tells about Mother Mary speaking words of wisdom. At that time no one could yet predict that English hub serious chat is gonna appear in the future
"the pursuit of meaning in philosophy often transcends individual experiences."
This is essentially what I was getting at when I said that someone with a brain injury could still find ways to philosophise despite a loss of a sense of identity.
philosophy can guide us, but do we shape our sense of self through the search for meaning, or is it a reflection of what we already understand? maybe it's the back-and-forth between seeking answers and evolving self that keeps us exploring the mystery of our existence.
yes, I am not debunking what you said, your statement is true.
Yeah, I understand it's just what ChatGPT suggested. It tends to repeat a lot, then go off on a tangent. 😆 Unless I'm mistaken. I'm assuming it's ChatGPT, because a) it looks very familiar and b) you've said you're a beginner in English on your profile, yet you've shown really, really good English here.
ok interesting
This is actually a really frustrating part of the world in which we live, with AI being so prevalent and accessible, you never quite know for sure whether someone is using AI, or whether someone is AI. I'm finding it progressively harder not to make assumptions like I did above.
then osm how did we come to develop philosophy
It's usually said that western philosophy began with Socrates (ancient Greek philosopher, around 300BCE, I think), and that he's the 'grandfather of western philosophy.' However, I'm not sure where it truly started, and I'm not sure anybody knows that for sure.
interesting
incorrect, although my profile indicates a "beginner" level on English, that role is randomly picked. Due to never assessing my English level through a test I can't really tell what my level is. But when it comes to philosophy and finding the "self" I do have some moderate knowledge from books and articles i've read, from Descartes, Kant, all the way to the Buddhists. So there is no need for me to rely on any AI for information, let it be ChatGPT or other alternatives.
Then again, you asked how we came to develop it, not necessarily how it came to be. So, I think it's correct to say that we developed philosophy through thousands of years of asking and tackling big questions. Plato built upon the work of Socrates, then Aristotle built upon the work of Plato, etc. We have built our philosophical understanding on the understanding of all those who came before.
how americans say "on a game of one person give a chocollate to another person but this person do not now who are you"?
I understand this, although it can be taken as an insult even when just inquiring about it.
Well, your use of English is excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if advanced or fluent would be appropriate.
Fair enough. Perhaps your role was what threw me off the most. If anything, it's a compliment to your English skills. 😛 But I do apologise if I offended, and I apologise for jumping to conclusions.
Buddhism sounds interesting. I know pretty much nothing about it. What is enlightenment, with regards to Buddhism?
Hahaha, thank you. although just the thought process of replying back to your message was funny enough, "how do I prove this was written by a human" was all over my head. we truly live in such a unique times.
I can only imagine. Were I not a particularly thoughtful human, I might've said "that's what an AI would say" ad infinitum.
Granted, that is what a sufficiently advanced and manipulative AI would say. 😛 I guess I'm not particularly thoughtful. Uh-oh.
*looks online for the latest version of JenahAI*
(I am joking, don't worry lol)
well, If I'm not mistaken, since you're native English you might be from the UK so you might know Alan Watts, although he's regarded as a pseudointellectual, his work however is such a good introduction to Buddhism and eastern philosophy. It's pretty interesting especially since it greatly differs from that of the west.
hahaha, it's just a matter of time before that happens >:)
wouldn't it be interesting if there was a service in the future, that allows people to make their own AI in the sense they choose what data to feed it in an attempt to shape it to what they want.
I looked him up on YouTube. I'll be checking out some related videos at some point. I've been meaning to explore something other than western philosophy. I feel like there's a huge area of philosophy that I'm missing out on.
And yes, I'm Bri'ish.
Videos are decent, but the books are where most the information is.
I recommend : Out of Your Mind: Tricksters, Interdependence and the Cosmic Game of Hide-and-Seek.
I can upload the PDF here too.
You could for example feed it as much data you have about a specific person from your life, so that after they pass away you get to still communicate with "something" that resembles them, the way they talk and so on.
Anyone with the means can create and feed data to an AI. It's so frighteningly accessible. As I understand it, ChatGPT (and perhaps other AIs) has an API which allows the user to change how it operates and interact with it in a number of interesting ways. So, pretty close, I think.
Oh, there's an episode of Black Mirror called Be Right Back which looks into this. It's really disturbing.
hahahaha that is such a great Tv show that reflects how technology can go badly.
To be honest, I'm not much of a book reader. I usually get my information from other sources. I'll read online, but that's as far as I tend to go. I struggle to focus on simply sitting down and reading a book; it's not stimulating enough for me.
Most of my philosophy is from the many philosophers and philosophical debates on YouTube (listened to them for a few years now), various presentations on YouTube, philosophical groups and chats online (e.g., here), some texts I've downloaded (e.g., Plato's Apology), various websites which go into some things (e.g., fallacies and cognitive biases), and even sometimes ChatGPT.
hmm, Alan had many short lectures that were recorded and later on uploaded online, they exist on Youtube. So if that's a method you're fine with then it's worth a try.
Alan Watts Lectures | Discipline of Zen
Thanks! I've got that loaded up, read and waiting.

are humans born evil? @thorny steeple
I think this was shown to me yesterday, but I passed, because Chomsky decided to speak in French for ages, and I don't speak French. 😆 I might give it another go, at some point.
Although I've found myself interested in morality and ethics, I think it's fair to say my interest mainly lies in logic, religion, and various metaphysical things like extraterrestrials (all the implications and possibilities thereof) and the simulation hypothesis. But, because of these things, I tend to get into epistemology and language. It really just depends where my mind takes me and what my interest is at the time. Lately, I'm especially focused on logic.
In this debate Chomsky debates in English, Foucault still talks in French but there are captions.
they did talk about language as well, from the perspective of human nature, but I see you've got different interests. Have you ever got into Hegel ?
Nope, not that I know of. I've focused more on the concepts and conclusions, rather than the people behind them. My favorite philosopher may not even exist. 😆 Socrates, of course. That being said, I've found Aristotle and Nietzsche interesting, but I'm more interested in the conclusions. I realise how selfish that might sound. 😆
A problem I have with remembering the people, is that it's a lot to remember. I think I've forgotten most of what I learned about Aristotle. I often confuse the people, so I'll remember details about Nietzsche but it's actually stuff about Aristotle.
Except Socrates. I find him very interesting. I immediately found him fascinating after I was captivated by Plato's Apology.
hmm, as odd and different it sounds to me, i don't think it should be problematic, but idk.
Socrates is quite the individual, although I've only read The Republic, I do know about Plato's Apology, and it's in my list.
Do you drive?
a car ? no.
I am not familiar with it haha.
Basically, you use a phone. You enjoy the phone. You use the phone for all sorts and it's very helpful and can be very productive.
But, you don't know all the ins and outs of the people who led to the creation and development of the phone. You don't need to, because you have the phone. You can appreciate the origins, perhaps remember some names and some interesting details, but for the most part, you have the phone.
yes, that's a nice example, i've seen it being used when it comes to quantum physics.
Granted, there is a lot to learn from people's lives and how they concluded various things, such as Nietzsche's suffering and Socrates' will to remain true to himself.
So I do pick up the odd thing.
I just don't focus on it, at least not yet.
I find everything else too compelling and distracting. 😆
Most of my time, these days, is spent obsessing over logic.
Specifically, argumentation.
what are you delving into when it comes to logic ?
Inductive and deductive reasoning and arguments. The formulation of arguments via premises and the conclusion. Cognitive biases, like confirmation bias. Logical fallacies, like ad hominem and argumentum ad populum, argumentation techniques like sleight of hand, the classical laws of logic, principles like the principle of charity, and whatever else I'm surely forgetting.
Oh, and the Socratic Method, which I admittedly have a very limited understanding in, but what I have learned has been very valuable. Essentially, argumentation through dialogue; through questioning and getting to the crux of the issue in what I assume includes a charitable way.
I've been able to help others and myself by looking at how I think and how I conclude things.
hmmm, I think this goes not only for logic but also critical thinking, but have you also dived into rationality ?
Is critical thinking a category of philosophy? I assumed it was simply part of logic, by way of reasoning.
Not looked into rationality, is that a category of philosophy? I might have inadvertently touched on it, I'm not sure. What does it entail?
Damn, looking it up, it looks like I've been really interested in rationality for ages and not realised.
no, critical thinking is not a category within philosophy, but even though it is related to logic, they are not the same thing.
I wouldn't call rationality a category but rather it's one of the fundamental concepts in philosophy present through all it's areas.
yes, you do seem to be leaning towards it with what you've provided previously. Logic itself relies on rationality when it comes to evaluating arguments and so on.
I loaded up the video. It is the one I was referring to. Around 10 minutes, Chomsky starts speaking in French.
i didn't know he speaks french, can you link it ?

i see the confusion, that's Foucault talking in French not Chomsky.
Oooh. Lol No wonder you were confused. I guess I assumed the seemingly foreign guy must have the seemingly foreign name. Turns out they both have a seemingly foreign name, and I didn't notice the other guy's name.
The introduction was in Dutch, which I also can't speak.
If the introduction were German, I could maybe have understood.
hahaha yes, but Foucault is one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century for his work on power/knowledge, prison mindset, sexuality,..., and he was highly influenced by Nietzsche.
the debate took place on the Netherlands, so it's Dutch, but with all the different languages present on the debate, it's such a good one.
he kind of reminds me of what you said previously
when it comes to not looking much at the philosopher and instead just focusing on their ideas
Oooh, he was the same way?
he never answers personal questions, even in the debate it happened and the question was related to the topic he still refused to, his notion is " a philosophy without philosophers"
yeah, Foucault.
Oh, I thought you meant Chomsky.
he's quite the character, and his work is really great, sadly we couldn't get more of him since he died of HIV in his 50s
Dang.
no no, Chomsky is the American one, he is also one of the great thinkers of the 20th century, his work is mainly about language, human nature and brain structure.
and just for calirty, this is Foucault I'm talking about here.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up.
Foucault is the bald guy who died in his 50s of HIV, who, like me, preferred to focus on the conclusions and concepts rather than the personal lives of the philosophers.
Is that right?
yes, he wanted people to move away from focusing on individual philosophers and their biographies and instead focus on analyzing broader discourses, practices and institutions that contribute to the production of knowledge
Holy crap, Chomsky is still going at 94. Dang.
I'll have a look at his stuff, too. Hopefully I'll find plenty of English content about him.
hahah yes, thankfully he's still with us.
you'll find plenty, his work is present and in different languages.
Awesome.
You've been really helpful and given me plenty to consider and look into — I appreciate it.

hru OSM?
he advocated for what he called "libertarian socialism"
What does 'hru' mean?
Oh, I've heard of that, but no idea what it means.
I'll check out that video as well later. I've got lots of tabs open of stuff to consume. 😆
oh, it's not what you think.
were you when I explained what this means?
how are you*
Nope.
Oooh. I'm OK, thanks. 🙂 And you?
Well, that's a lie. I'm still sick with this flu/cold thing, and getting sick of it, but I'm otherwise OK.
Im great, thanks
get well!
Thanks. I'm working on it. 😆
The more I listen to this guy, the more I wonder about his life, contrary to what I said earlier. To be alive during WW1 and WW2 is baffling. To see all the insane racism. To see the rise of the technology we have today.
What a view he has.
I can't even properly imagine a world war, let alone living through two of them.
yes, and keep in mind, he was criticizing the US and it's systems at the heights of the cold war era, he also talked about protesting and civil disobedience, which he also did back in the Vietnam war.
Wow
by no means was he afraid to speak his mind.
Respectable.
That was an interesting video. He was asked what he'd like to be on his tombstone, to which he answered 'he tried his best'.
That's all we can ever do, really.
born in 1900 and lived through World War I and the Spanish Flu in 1928 The economy is doing well, I hope nothing negative occurs in the upcoming year. In 1929, for example, the stock market crashed, and in the early 1930s, people were barely able to afford food but were still thankful to be alive. 1939: World War II begins. I hope we stay out of this European conflict. On November 7, 1941, the Japanese strike Pearl Harbor. A few years after the United States enters the war and joins the army in 1945, the war ends.
A hell of a life.
suppose but those people sure endure it
Hey guys can anyone give me ideas for a short film that is about a discord/reddit mod
Maybe, about Discord polemics. Like the true about what they do with our information. Or about the dangerous people that have in this two social media. Or about strange and dangerous Discord servers, and about inappropriate things that happens in Discord and Reddit.
These are my ideas
Okay ty

You're welcome, when you launch it please. I want to see it
For all you know, I'm 500lbs and have a weak heart. You trying to kill me?! 😛
walk is good for you brother.
Yeah, I know. I love walking, but not when I'm ill. 😆

It's a cold or flu. Not 100% sure which. Been going for about a week, so far.
i know a way that can help with that
OK.
Well done for turning your life around.
I did the same thing years ago, and I'm in the process of doing it again.
Best of luck mate 🤞
It seems to get harder to do it the older you get, I've noticed.
before you go to bed boil some hot water and add this medicin in the hot water. then get a blanket and cover your head and the hot water. Then try to breath in and breath out but close your eye. its gonn be really sweaty but bear with it. once that done dont remove the blanket from your head and go to sleep. do no expose your self in cold once you do it
I used to go out jogging and walking for hours, but then I got Achilles Tendinitis, which stuck around for a couple of years. Could get quite painful and make walking hard. It still hasn't healed, years later, but it's not as bad as it was, as long as I don't aggravate it too much.
whats that
achilles tendinities
I do sometimes do that, but mainly just put it on my chest.
You'll have to look online for that.
i just did
cover your whole head and do some breath in and out
thar will be more effective
You're not supposed to put it too close to your eyes, apparently.
thats why you close it
I get a lot from it just putting it on my chest, as it's quite strong.
dont add too much
anyway have some rest.
Hello boyys
Yo

Hello
What’s up
I bet no one's gonna read them.

Decided to just do away with all that. Probably not the place for it, I guess. Vomiting words all over the screen did help me process, though. 😆
It's Discord bro, no one's gonna read that.
But yeah, you're right. Not the right place to write essays, try blogging instead or something, where ppl are willing to read em.

Hello beings of the highest light
Do you think that Total War with drugs policies of United States was succesful? İs Forbidding drugs without exception a good method to fight against addiction?
And if your answers are "No",is there any alternative strategy about solving drug problem according to you?
It just feels like a dead channel over there
I think this is right
why
It's hard to answer
Try
Drug restrictions are definitely more prevalent than before
So prohibition is the wisest choice
This is like the ionization equilibrium in chemistry
İ am not sure about that
Because if you decrease substance without decreasing petition, this circumstance will increase prices
And because of this more expert crimers will emter this because prices who increase will make this job more profitable
And prices that increase can not reduce petition because drug is a addiction
Once released, even those who haven't tried before will try
Addict humans can give everything to buy drug
Because of this we must follow Swizterland's policies, harm reduction
What's the point of having more drug users
İ am not defending that drugs must be free,ı am defendinf harm reduction
Humans who use drugs are poor humans in majority
Features of drug usage are discrimination and poverty
We must destory reasons
no
you are wrong
It was their drug use that made them poor
Poor people rarely come into contact with it
No,nobody use drug without reason
Poor neighborhoods are not being poor after drugs had come
They think it's cool or fashionable
Neighborhoods are being poor and after this situation drug addiction is coming
İ know this because there are a lpt of neighborhoods like this and I can see in first hand
Poor humans are hate their lives and they wan to escape from reality
Hello beings of the highest light
Hoi
howwdy
how you been lad
@thorny steeple did you there was a ship that survive two nuclear bombs
Wow, no, I've not heard about that. Where did that happen?
the uss nevada
you know bikini atoll
Nope, not heard of that.
the place where the kids cartoon is base off
that where the US did nuclear testing
The Israelis are using a much different weapon after the ceasefire. I see all the corpses exploding. Especially their heads explode.
I'm almost 40, so it was a long time ago since I watched kid's cartoons. I'll look it up.
This israel is so wild
Hello, anyone
hello mate
I agree with you
Yup
Where are you from
Why on Earth would you be an anti-Semite?
north america and you
I'm sorry, my Jewish friends, we defended you for years about the Nazi genocide, etc., but this is too much.
yea same why lad
Japan, Tokyo
have you been to osaka?
Yes
So, you're choosing your view of an entire group of people because of a select few bad actors? That's like me hating all Germans because Nazis. That's absurd.
They look like enemies of the Palestinian people, I am their enemy. is this a problem? I guess it is democracy.
Been there several times.
how is it
About 20% of the Israeli population is against the war. The rest demands blood.
Exactly, 20% of just Israel. That alone doesn't justify your hate for all Jews. Good Lord, man. Think it through.
true
Quite prosperous and beautiful.
Does being anti Semite necessarily mean destroying or killing them? I don't like them and I don't support them, I'm such an anti-Semite.
have you seen the chery trees?
A common definition is that one hates and has prejudice against the Jews.
hi mate
Yes, that's exactly who I am, but I have no intention of harming them. I just exclude it now.
well im more neutral on this conflict by no supporting each side
Because of cruelty.
I'm sorry. I don't see it
do you own a bonsai trre?
I have daffodils and cacti at home.
Are you Muslim?
how do you define cruelness?
We have many cherry blossoms here.
interesting are you a botanist?
yes that nice looking trees
remember that we have apathy
I do not limit by putting myself into a any category. I believe in all the prophets from Adam to Muhammad. This includes the prophets Jesus and Moses. So I believe in the common and one god and god's commandments.
But you are faced with a sect that sees all humanity as their slaves and thinks that 1.5 billion people will be enough for them.
interesting beliefs you have there!
nope this is zionism
I think you knew where I was going with this. So, I'll help you along. Let's say you are a Muslim. Should I now hate, shun, or otherwise no longer support you and all who believe as you, because some Muslims have done bad things? Obviously, the answer is no, because that would be ridiculous.
However, you've taken this approach against Jews.
how did you get these beliefs
i believe that the jews and the Palestinians could live together!
Okay, who will stop Israel? and a country formed by Jews. If they want to shed more blood and lands instead of stopping it. Do we want a big war for other countries to stop them? The only people who can stop them are the Jews. If they don't stop it, anti-Semitism will increase, it's that simple. Our best threat and weapon right now is anti-Semitism. When we don't use them, they will increase their brutality even more.
Yes they can
but israel have to stop terorism on palastinians
Before World War II, Jews were robbers.
if there wasn't Hamas that is and if the place where is isreal was joint government
Killing stone-throwing children is not self-defense.
they weren't, old stereotypes from the Europeans when they were more racist
That's what I'm saying, we used to defend them, but now I see that I'm ashamed of doing this.
If it weren't for Hamas, there would be no Palestine, there would be Israel.
its the people in power no the people people of israel
This isn't a discussion of who will stop Israel, it's about your faulty reasoning for hating or not supporting an entire people based on the actions of some.
"If they don't stop it, anti-Semitism will increase"
If people continue to develop such unchecked illogical views, yes. But this isn't the discussion.
"Our best threat and weapon right now is anti-Semitism."
Why? If I shoot my enemy, does it matter whether I hate him, or does it matter that my enemy is no longer a threat? It seems like you're just using this as an excuse to be prejudiced.
there is a difference in the two
Hitler would have exterminated them, and they would not have gone to Balestar.
So, back to the issue:
You are in a room with 100 people. You are American. 50 people are German. 50 people are American. 1 German kills an American. Should you now hate or no longer support all 50 Germans because of the action of 1 German?
@serene birch
you are thinking Realpolitik
It wasn't just a few Israelis who did this, all Jews did it.
a system of politics or principles based on practical rather than moral or ideological considerations.
They have committed so much terrorism that they can now easily shoot children on the street.
Realpolitik is the approach of conducting diplomatic or political policies based primarily on considerations of given circumstances and factors, rather than strictly following ideological, moral, or ethical premises. In this respect, it shares aspects of its philosophical approach with those of realism and pragmatism.
well they do carry guns on their backs but for dense purposes
The Jews had been eating well ever since the events in Gerasavo, and Hitler should have exterminated them all. They were defeated, and they wandered to Palestine.
it was the british who caused this mess in the border sense and jews living there
Moreover, the Jews also went to Palestine to rob other people's land. What is this if not a robber?
well sure thats the land of the palestine people but the jews been there longer for a time before the romans scatter them
I don't like Jews anymore. Everything was a lie and they were deceiving us.
And here we have it.
Yup
I have right to dont like someone if they dont like palastinians I have right to dont like jews.
DEMOCRACY
I give up. 😆
he has lost it
I tried.
same
like damn we humans sure have a knack for beliefs
You dont have too. Because I have the thought, capacity and knowledge to understand the situation.
well the situation is more complex
Not at all
well how has been your day!
More than 60% of Jews want to shed blood, kill and invade. We could consider it if it was below 50%, but it is dangerous if it is more than 60%.
Isn't this how democracy works?
no mate that's authoritarian government
Democracy is a system of government in which state power is vested in the people or the general population of a state. According to the United Nations, democracy "provides an environment that respects human rights and fundamental freedoms, and in which the freely expressed will of people is exercised."
So there is no democracy there and there is tyranny. Why USA supports so?
isn't it USA father of democracy?
Authoritarianism is a political system characterized by a controlling government and the rejection of democracy, human rights, and political plurality. It involves the use of strong central power to preserve the political status quo, and reductions in the rule of law, separation of powers, and democratic voting.
It is basic math
Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets, price systems, private property, property rights recognition, voluntary exchange, and wage labor.
If they're still fighting blood, This means that a large proportion of the public supports it. If the people do not want it but the government does it by force, this means tyranny and happens in places where there is no democracy. If there is tyranny, why doesn't America bring democracy there instead of send weapons? I think the American government is also trapped under Jewish tyranny.
It's very sad. For years, they made us fight the Nazis in games and movies, they made us hate, now they are acting like Nazis.
Everything we were made to believe was based on a lie.
Normally, when someone commits murder, we take them and put them in prison for years, and in some places they are even executed. But in Israel and Palastine, if you are an Israeli and you kill a Palestinian, you do not receive any punishment and you can roam the streets as freely. But if you throw stones at them to protect your home, mother your family, you will either be imprisoned for years or killed. There is tons of evidence and videos on the internet.
Not a few groups of people, but the whole country is almost like this.

I wish everyone a good weekend. Hope you'all have a nice Saturday && Sunday. I hope all the stupid and nonsense wars in the world will end and murderers will disappear "poof" like a magic. I don't want to see dead bodies of children or babies, neither Jewish nor Muslims or christian or any. Because children have no religion, language, race, etc. And in this case, it's not a football match, not like take the flag of whichever side you support etc. To hell with all countries and ideologies. Long live the brother/sisterhood of peoples. This world is enough for all of us, stay in peace and safe. I'm out.

Because of the genocides of the state of Israel, we decided to be anti-semitic.

They threaten everyone. Elon Musk, Turkey, Ireland and Spain. They messed up Ireland a few days ago. They are wagging anti-Islamic propaganda and media war around the world.

Whoa.
Is it normal that I'm almost numb to the fact I'm losing money every week which should motivate me to work toward my goal ? I'm using the site StickK, I thought that could motivate me do the work I need to, but nothing.
hello
what do you think about this?
what reasons?
I wanted to motivate myself to achieve my goal, and I thought losing money every week for two months could have help, but nothing I'm still lazy AF, I'm wondering if there is something wrong with me, I mean losing money in a capitalist society is the worst case from my point of view.
OMG I totally agree with you
And I want to achieve my goal
Yeah capitalist society is the society of overconsumption
I read your bio and you are French too
Yes
Where city in France are you from ?
From Paris like every French person xD, I'm from Mulhouse.
Oh I don't know Mulhouse and I'm live in France lmao
I hate Paris
Where are you from ? (in France)

Good question
no way to predict, due to from variegated provenances, so, just follow the standard pronunciation
what is a varieagated provenance?
from different sources, tons of loaded words in English. ancient English, latin by Roman, vernacular German, etc.
a hybrid language
why ru talking about math
even Americans can't tell why Arkansas and Kansas pronounced differently
I think it's because each state talks differently
also its Kansas are pronounced*
an American high school English teacher taught me that, he said he can't figure out why the disparity
that was just a guess
also it kinda makes sense
if your argument true, then at least the Arkansas vernacular pronunciation about this word hold a huge sway on other states😆,and Kansas vernacular vise versa
also I live in the united states too (as an immigrant in high school)
also isn't vernacular a dead word used in the 1600s
nvm wrong definition
i am not there.almost suffer torments from a 3 years hellish Law School program there many years ago, but unfortunately dodged

Nah, I'm just a Llama from Malaysia. I know it's an animal from South America
why a Malaysian needs to practice English here
It's just a random name that I picked
Because...why not?
Where are you from Noone?
conversation has been killed

i envy Malaysians, most of them are polygots, dragomen
Alright, and you are not? I'm just bilingual, really.
i didn't live in an propitious environment like Malaysian had, me, just like Americans, they don't even possess a miniscule motive to learn a foreign language
Okay, and where are you from?
Your English is excellent.
And my English is just enough to survive. I seldom speak English with my family members.
Malay,or Singapore, a racial meltpot, just as medieval Istanbul, forced residents to learn several tongues
from Zone 51. kidding, keep my location secretive. We live in a hugh panopticon, for safe
Right.
i haven't watched any TV program from Malay.is there any internet censorship in your country?
There are a few series from Malaysia on Netflix.
Not sure about the internet censorship part.
my English far from exellence, British historians taught me so much by their books
Good for you.
if Netflix available, that means ideology competition is allowed in Malay, good to hear that
Hello beings of the highest light
This made the situation worse. Try a reward system.
Reward yourself every time you do something useful. For example, you may want to do the cleaning, but you are too lazy, then try to change the vector, promising yourself that if you do this, then you will eat something tasty etc.
if I am lazy to do something, then I severely punish myself. I can go a whole day or two days without eating until I realize I've made a mistake. Thus, I set myself up to work afraid, that next time I will be left without food again
not eating is also good for the body, so it will be easy for you to tune in
hellow my dear friend
hru?
anyone wants to talk about the history of Christianity internecine discords , i got many questions not yet answered
hello, could you share these questions?
I don't know, thanks for the answer.
I know, but what can I do ?
i want to be shared
Guys i wanna to ask. Maybe some people think its a deep talk but for me its maybe a deep. I just wanna to Know. How to come near to women?. Because the few times I tried, I think I've tried my best, even I've asked she to date. response got worse, I just thought, is there something wrong with me, is my way of communicating, or because I am too nervous? I didn't know, I was just thinking maybe no one women in my country love me? Or you guys have other tips maybe it's okay to give advice to me
deep pockets bring you the vigor women cherished
money for nothing, but women are NOT nothing
rent a Lamborghini for a day*
take it as an investment
I would like to know about them. (Just enthusiastic enough to know, altho I'm not knowledgeable enough to clarify or give back an answer to them.)
I don't think I'm eligible to answer this, but here I go anyway.
There's nothing wrong with you, but you just need little changes in the way you approach I guess.
Firstly understand what kind of women you're interested in and find out if you like someone, instead of just reaching randomly.
It's understandable that you're nervous, but if you like someone, try to reach out (i doesn't matter if it's gonna work out or not, but atleast you have to give it a try.) And women most times expect you to reach out first, so you gotta do that.
And try to built up confidence and self-esteem, I mean it attracts others to you easily.
But if you don't wanna change, you can be just the way you are, the right person will come eventually and will accept you just the way you are, but even for that person to come in to your life, I guess you need to initiate first, I'm not sure, I just think so tho.
Anyways good luck, just work on your communication skills and I hope it'll work out for you soon.
Nice. It's same like money cannot buy everything but everything need money
Its not a problem solve. Women are harder to understand than the calculus I understand
Thanks for the suggestion. But I'm very unsure of my communication skills towards such a good woman. What continues to haunt me is whether my communication skills with women have improved or worsened. I am very pessimistic about this.
You're welcome.
Oh! I don't know about that, maybe just get to know that yourself by talking to the girls you know.
I think you're good at communicating tho.
I don't think they are difficult to understand.
I can win the heart of any woman if I really need it
if you understand calculus, then that is the origin of your quagmire
unless you want to reach a female Newton or Leibniz
seriously, i not a human behaviors analyst, but i know from where a relation starts, be a middle class plus
focous on yourself g. thats what i would say.
I realized my communication was very bad when dealing directly with women. I don't know why I'm nervous and can't think clearly when talking to women
money gives man strong confidence, try to get some
I try but this problem make me difficult to Think clearly
when you earn some cash, girl not a problem anymore
Yes money can buy authority but money cannot buy love.
But its like you know a fake friend? It's pretty much same
no taxation no representation, no money no girl, not to mention love
I think this matter is too difficult for me to think about
Oh alright, is that a problem in real life or you face the same thing on online too?
an universal truth from all scources
because you have never experienced yourself in such conditions before
the only solution to this is practice.
if you do this often, you will worry less about how to behave around women
I agree, practice is the key.
The more you talk, the easier it gets.
So, I know how to seduce almost any woman because I know more about them than anyone else
I don't know Maybe my face is also influential. In addition to my way of speaking
Maybe it's the key but i very very Nervous to talk with a woman
act
@gray wind ,may I know what you need this for? do you want real love, or is it a physiological need?
Aw! That's true to some extent tho. But it's not everything.
You got this.
because earlier I considered the second option, sorry
It's okay.
I was too at first
Start little by little.
No worries, it takes time.
Just casually try to talk without worrying about the consequences.
@static pivot he has a lot of experience and can give advice

@gray wind , by the way, you can also ask the girls on this server what they like, what approach they approve of, etc.
good luck!
Does "Probably can" = "Probably a possibility"
or is "Probably can" = "Probably a likely possibility" more accurate
Hello
"probability" must be distinguished from "possibility". these are different things
?define probability
Definition 1 (noun): a measure of how likely it is that some event will occur; a number expressing the ratio of favorable cases to the whole number of cases possible
Definition 2 (noun): the quality of being probable; a probable event or the most probable event
?define possibility
Definition 1 (noun): a tentative insight into the natural world; a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena
Definition 2 (noun): capability of existing or happening or being true
Definition 3 (noun): a possible alternative
Other definitions can be found here
What if the "can" is used in the context where the "can" itself isn't necessarily a certainty. For example, does "You probably can win a high school race" = "You can win a high school race"
Or in other words, does "You can win a high school race" mean the speaker is assuming there is a 100% probability? I was under the assumption that in this case, "can" just infers a possibility that isn't quantified.
the first example is expressed in a relative nature. That is, this explains the extent to which you will win. (quantitatively)
the second example shows its essential direction. that is, what really exists
Ah I see
"quantitative" - the first
"essential" - the second
I'm still a little confused with the second example
no, this does not mean that you will win 100%.
because what would the probabiltiy of winning be in the second example then?
Does it just mean "Likely win"
or is it just an unknown % that's up to interpretation based on context.
probability indicates a greater degree of gain than possibility
right
but what about can itself.
without any probability mentioned.
is it just a possibility
that could be probable or could be improbable
I'm honestly more confused with "can" in this case
"can" depends on you
I see
Would you say the best fit for "can" universally would simply be "not impossible"
Maybe i wanna to get a real love just it
Also I didn't see #📚|english-questions , I would have asked this there had I seen it earleir
@echo flower
"can" depends on you, does not depend on the circumstances. E.g. You may or may not drink water.
“probability” in this case would mean that there may or may not be water there 50/50
"possibility" means that it is significant. That is, an expression of the state of what you are doing
Thanks guys. Thank you for helping ease the burden on my mind, thank you also for the suggestions. You are all the Thank you for helping ease the burden on my mind, thank you also for the suggestions. You are all the best.
"can" makes sense in this case. But what if it also depends on other factors.
Or does "can" must only depend on you?
"I can win the next game of football" depend only on if I choose to do so? What about how good the other players are?
"can" I looked at it in an isolated system. I did not take into account factors that may affect your action.
in practice these concepts are correlated
it depends, but I showed with an example the difference between these concepts
Yeah it somewhat helps me understand.
Thanks for the idea, I'm thinking of adding some concepts to my list
this
Reception: signalling a reaction to stimuli
Sensation: simulation of receptions
Memorisation: encoding of sensation into a memory
Remembrance: decoding of a memory into sensation
Perception: association of sensations
Association: identifying and thereby relating memories
Conceptualisation: consolidation of associations
Experiences: impressions of perceptions
Sentient: able to experience
Imagination: fabrication of perceptions
Ideas: concepts based on imaginations
Understanding: ideas about the implication of a function
Awareness: understanding of experiences
Thoughts: self-communication of ideas
Consciousness: awareness of thoughts
You can add (less/more) before using the word "likely" to replace the word "probably" to have more precision
Ah true
Think of 'can' (to be able to) as just giving you (or informing you of ) an option in your life. Winning is an option for you. It does not attach any probability or possibility. You are able to win the race. However with that option, there are many conditions that may affect your ability to win. This is the context of the conversation. For example i can say to you.. 'You can win the basketball game, but i find it unlikely as you have short legs'. Or ' you can win the race, but you will need to practice every day'. Parents just generally say to their kids.. 'You can win the race', but they know in their minds that there is a high likelihood that the are probably faster kids in the race' is just encouragement. You have to be in it to win it.
for the option it's easy
yes, he may decide that he really wants to win, but this also depends on external factors
That conversation reminded me this movie scene https://youtu.be/1kBAxsFui1w
One of the Best Movie which Touched My Heart.
I'm Ready to Watch it at Anytime and Anywhere.
thoughts on the ecpe exams from michigan language assessments? i got a c2 level certificate but i dont see a lot of people talking about it outside of greece
tell me more
about what?
Anyone preparing for IELTS?
very powerful movie.
mornin
i have a doubt
in here we have some 'knowledge division', but
How can we define what level we are at?
from A1 to C2
I really don't if this is the correct chat to ask these type of questions
it is difficult to really tell this, official exams like IELTS usually determine that
but you can think about some very visible things, like maybe someone reads books in english, and those books are written in native-targeted language, so then i would assume that person is likely to be anywhere from B2 to C2
what makes all of that complicated is probably that it doesnt have to be balanced, so someone might be a great reader with a very wide vocabulary, but they have anxiety while speaking, then thats difficult to judge
i understand
I believe this is my situation. Lol
anyway, tks for the information
is human life more important than right of private property?
Absouletely 🥲
I think human life is more important.
ı suppose ı agree
humanity and planet is more valueble than profits
Hello beings of the highest light
Yeah human life is more important but here's is the thing What if we had to fight our land to be free, not get killed or raped? We had to fight in this kind of situation
I mean not always the most important thing is human life
For Palestinans which one is important If they could protect their country They wouldn't get killed 🕊️
if someone comes to your home to kill you, then you will do everything possible so as not to be killed
you care about your life
You would kill them for ur life and loved ones that home as well
if me and my family are threatened in extreme form, then I will kill this bastard
True
I don't care about the law in this case
or laws
So, I try to mean I have to protect everything what I have for living My life, my family's life and the home
Exactly
It's up to the situation @thorny steeple
ı was not mentioning about self defence
ı was mentioning about money versus human life
Similar situation in my opinion
If u tried to kill me I would do my best and try to get rid of you
yes you can and you should however it was not my question's topic lol
I don’t think you would give your life or your loved ones’ lives for money, right?
right
self-defence? Anyways my bad
not problem
Money+ no more school? Count me in bruh
Is school a waste of time?
It’s boring
maybe, but it can't be skipped if you don't understand
school teaches you how to learn. it does not provide useful knowledge
It’s just a place for knowledge
so you should go there until you understand how to do it
