oh, the last sentence is.... (* anything that's objective, its merely a very strong subjective viewpoint *)

what we perceive as an objective reality, is merely a widely shared and generalized subjective reality ( to a certain extent )
for example, if we look at the phone now, it is something that all of us are familiar with to an extent that its close to an objective reality for most of us, but for people who live in primitive tribes, its something that breaks their own objective reality which is to us is a subjective reality....

so basically this idea applies to the whole perception and the world of knowledge
if you come up with a hypothesis in the begining ( your own version of reality " your subjective reality " ) and tell it to other people, you can transform and change the widely shared reality, in other words, what is perceived to be the objective reality....

for instance i can change how people address water with the word "water" and start saying that its ( mboo ) and if i have the right influence, and a lot of people listening to me, and they start to use it, it will change now, and voila, a change in objective reality, and then after that i start saying that drinking water is a bad thing that isn't good ( my hypothesis ) || which is basically the thing that goes against common sense.... ||

if my hypothesis is strong it will win in this world, and become an objective reality to a certain extent, if it's weak, and gets challenged by other hypotheses, it will lose its ground and crumble

#

hope its good?

@frail wolf Supposing you put a phone before some cavemen, they will surely try to investigate its structure and function. If they succeed in putting the phone to some use, say as a digging tool, they will most probably look upon the phone and any other phone that you might put before them thereafter as just digging tools. I mean, from a POV of objective truth, an object like a phone can have multiple purposes, like searching the Web and digging, that make up its objectivity (just think of the problem of universals). The true identity, the definite measure of an object cannot be evaluated from the purpose(s) it serves. Regarding the water example, to remotely convert your hypothesis into any reality, you need to universally prove it before the eye; not by just poisoning some poor soul's drinking water once and making him die. But that doesn't concern objective truth. Objective truth concerns the identities and measures of objects, as said before. After all, you cannot hope anything objective to serve multiple purposes of subjective beings, so to speak. And one thing more, you cannot change something subjective into something objective through popular support. It refers to a logically informal fallacy (effectively) called argumentum ad populum, and what isn't even logically permissible... well, what remains there to say?

I'm somewhat of an essay guy myself.

#

same, but i get lazy because i don't like to type too much

#

especially when they hit you with that "i ain't reading allat" after you finish

#

I remember this one man I fought, wasn't really anything violent, but just a mere discussion over political perspectives, and he was incredible. He never fell short of words, and always posted 18+ lines.

#

I quickly took notice how his rebuttal to my point was seemingly longer, so I realized that he was fighting for length, not debate.

#

was he insulting you?

#

wdym by 18+ lines?

#

I struck back with longer paragraphs. The server had limited people to certain walls of text such as not exceeding 25+ something lines.

#

He was muted for walls of text, we continued in DMs.

Mind you, this was in a Roblox Discord server. You'll rarely find anyone who'll write so respectfully to you in a Roblox community.

thorny steeple
#

I was a punk back then, I learned to get better, and used my trash-talking to speak properly.

thorny steeple
#

Trash-talking back then helped me find words faster, insults faster. I used this same ability to make the so called, 'Comebacks,' in arguments. Got to know more how I was basically an idiot to waste this potential on trash-talking, and then decided to join in debates.

#

Now I can make full fledged arguments that are respectful.

#

used the trash talking as practice

thorny steeple
#

I was a high-tempered person, still am, but with more control.

thorny steeple
# thorny steeple used the trash talking as practice

Just know, in-case you plan to get better at building your paragraphs, you need to research more about a certain topic. I had a guy who was super interested in the Russo-Ukrainian war. He posted about an incident that the Russians almost struck a British Airliner, or Cargo plane [Can not recall what it was] due to miscommunication between the Pilot, and the Commander. I posted that the United States took notice of this leaked document, and decided to ignore Russian claims over the Black Sea. I made an assumption that America is trying to provoke Russia into war with NATO. He was wondering why I would assume that. But it's a reasonable assumption that they want such a war. This isn't the first time the U.S. would try to do something like this. Operation Northwood was also a proposal that was declined, so it's definitely possible the U.S. is being more direct on their approach.

#

so i need to research the russo-ukrainian war?

#

i don't think that's the best way to improve chief

#

Nay?

#

I meant that, whenever you're trying to debate, always have more information about the topic.

#

The Russo-Ukrainian war was just an example.

#

i see, well that would be obvious, i'd avoid debating something i know little about

#

i'd just look like a fool

thorny steeple
thorny steeple
#

i listen to what the person has to say, then do my own research

thorny steeple
#

You just have to know about the bit you're talking about.

#

In this case, the example I gave was exactly like that. We briefly stayed on one topic, 'An airliner was almost shot down,' and then proceeded to, 'Does the U.S. want war with Russia?' from the topic of the airliner.

#

When they were talking about the Wagner, I remained quiet. Simply because I have 0 knowledge of what is going on with the Wagner group other than knowing about the attempted coup, and their arrival in Belarus.

#

yeah, discussing that one specific part and staying on it, i've come to realize that it is quite tricky to do

thorny steeple
#

Become strict if they are going off the topic.

#

yep, the key is to be very aware and force them to be aware as well

thorny steeple
thorny steeple
#

or would you say don't notify them at all is best?

thorny steeple
thorny steeple
#

that's what i meant, when they go off topic, strike with your hammer

# potent iron Genuine question why dont you just print more money to get out of debt

Printing money is introducing debt. Money is not an asset. It's an object that represents a payment owed for service generated. Every unit of currency produced in the world is a unit spent to pay someone for doing some work. In the old days each $ you carried represented an amount of gold. You could go to your government and claim your gold. Now ( post early 20th century) it gets nothing. That's why they can print so much. Your piece of paper or coin will get you nothing if you went to the government to ask for it to be changed to gold. But then again what is gold? It's just a metal.

Debt in the bank for a person or a country is a negative number that represents owing so much service to other countries by it's people. Basically the higher the debt, the higher the service owing to other countries. This is basically to be seen as economic slavery. The USA or let's say a few zillionaire families control the government, print money and hand it to other countries or their own people (Americans are not rich, they are also slaves to this system, except for the few rich at the top who tell them they are free). This increases the level of service(slavery) that countries' peoples need to pay back to the zillionaire into the future. The people of the country give those $ to others that want that slavery performed for them now. That is why everyone works. They are required to because the the community as a whole is enslaved to other countries and ultimately to the few rich that own the debt. But you say, i own my own house and have $in bank. Yes, but you continue to pay taxes that go to the community to pay the debt the community owes. If a town goes bust, in theory you can lose your home also. You are still not free if the system.

More like polis than police. From the greek polis, meaning city.

#

Although police has the same etymological origin.

#

Ancient greek politics was completely focused on the city as a unit of government.

#

But that was very short lived.

#

Most of the reality of the history of governance afterwards was in the form of nation states, not single cities.

#

"Tyranny in ancient Greece refers to a period, particularly during the 7th and 6th centuries BCE, when cities were often ruled by a single leader known as a "tyrant." These rulers weren't necessarily despotic by our modern understanding; the Greek term "tyrannos" didn't have the negative connotations it carries today. Instead, it referred to an individual who seized power unconstitutionally, often with popular support, as opposed to inheriting it."

#

But yes, political assassination was common.

-> Population Problem

  • Population is in increase and that has no advantages but disadvantages, Most of things have reason and result , The reason of increase in Population is caused due to giving birth multiple times in each family, And the result of that is that the people won't find anything to eat in the future, most of products will be disappeared and people gonna die gradually, To solve this problem, every country should add a rule saying that each family can only give birth for one child , This idea gonna solve too many problems not decreasing number of people only, Most of people in the world are not aware about this coming danger, So we have to share this hashtag to make everyone aware about what is happening and what is coming .. #rule-says-each-family-give-birth-for-one-child-only

formal scaffold
# thorny steeple Hi i have a question what is literary theory criticism

Literary theory criticism, often simply referred to as literary theory, is the study of the principles and practices of interpreting and understanding literature. It encompasses various approaches and perspectives used to analyze literary works, ranging from classical methods to contemporary theories. Here's an overview of some key literary theories and criticism approaches:

Formalism: Formalism focuses on the literary text itself, examining its structure, style, language, and form without considering external factors like authorial intention or historical context.

Structuralism: Structuralism explores literature as a system of signs and symbols, emphasizing the relationships between elements within a text. It often involves analyzing binary oppositions and underlying structures.

Psychoanalytic Criticism: Psychoanalytic criticism, influenced by the theories of Sigmund Freud, examines the psychological elements within a literary work. It delves into characters' motivations, desires, and subconscious conflicts.

Marxist Criticism: Marxist criticism interprets literature through the lens of socioeconomic and class issues. It analyzes how literature reflects and reinforces social hierarchies, power dynamics, and economic disparities.

#

Feminist Criticism: Feminist criticism focuses on gender roles, patriarchy, and the representation of women in literature. It examines how gender influences character development, plotlines, and societal norms depicted in texts.

Postcolonial Criticism: Postcolonial criticism analyzes literature from regions formerly colonized by European powers. It explores themes of identity, cultural hybridity, and the effects of colonialism and imperialism on colonized societies.

Reader-Response Criticism: Reader-response criticism emphasizes the role of the reader in interpreting a literary text. It explores how individual readers' backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives shape their understanding of the work.

Deconstruction: Deconstruction, introduced by Jacques Derrida, challenges traditional notions of language and meaning. It examines the inherent contradictions and dualities present in texts, questioning stable meanings and interpretations.

Cultural Studies: Cultural studies approach literature as a product of cultural processes. It explores how literature reflects and shapes cultural values, ideologies, and social norms.

Queer Theory: Queer theory examines the representation of non-normative sexualities and challenges traditional assumptions about gender and sexual identity in literature.

These are just a few examples of the diverse approaches within literary theory and criticism. Scholars and critics often combine these theories, leading to interdisciplinary and nuanced analyses of literary works. Different theories can be applied to the same text, yielding multiple interpretations and enriching our understanding of literature.

The reason they are super advanced is because they are involved in multiple trades with countries near them, and further away from them. They don't have too many problems in terms of waging wars, but economically they are fighting for the first place with the United States. Their population doesn't matter, their reputation, and trade matters. They are utilizing the population more. Why do you think India's so behind? Because India does not pay much to talent, or intelligence. Either you're a Doctor, or an Engineer. Poverty is one of the few branches of unemployment. Unemployment of someone's parents lead to the child being uneducated, which causes them to become an unemployed wanderer who would either pursue something that doesn't require a degree, or diploma, or just simply live their life homeless. Indian scientists are paid less too. The economy of the country is 3 Trillion Dollars. These Asian countries you talk about have a strict communal thinking that children need to become something in their own country. India has a very high number of people leaving the country simply because there is no opportunity there.

China's been through Civil Wars, famines, and dictatorships. Tyrannical crimes of the CCP. They came out victorious because they utilized the strength of their population. There was a turning point of this. India on the other hand never did so. Since their independence, they have been trying to progress. Like of course the United States started with no electricity too, but they went through 200+ years to get here, and India started fairly well. However, India hasn't learned to utilize their own citizens more.

As for me, I prefer psychoanalysis, imagery, and formalism.

#

Take Robert Frost's poem "Dust Of Snow" for example. It's short, pithy, and rhymes very well.

#

"The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued."
How would you analyse it?

#

If I were you, I'd analyse the metre first, then understand the imagery to compare it to my thoughts (placing me in the stead of the poet when he was writing it), before finally going for psychoanalysis.

# ornate siren As expected, but still...

I began recently to read one of the holy books (Quran) and analyze it, and is since it's considered the word of god, a miracle in linguistic and a challenge to that times Arabic potery, so my approach is:
**1- trying to read in its original language: **since its miracle is in its linguistic i'll miss a lot if I read the translation
2- I take into consideration the author: (believed to be god himself or also believed that it's a someone who read the ancients books and copied from them), try to judge his intelligence, the methods he uses to deliver his message,
3- I take into consideration the culture of the author or the audience:
4- **The time the book was released in: **time has a lot of importance, some values back then has changed now, so a lot of things will be different if you look at them from that time's perspective (example: "freeing a slave or feeding in a day of hunger" hunger isn't much common now and the book looks like it supports and allow slavery but in fact it's trying to get rid of it gradually).

#

5- I analyze the grammar part: I take into consideration the words used and picked carefully , phrases that may seems like linguistic errors, trying to figure out the language used might help me understand (example: "freeing a slave or feeding in a day of hunger" the order here is freeing slaves first or feeding in a day of hunger gives priority to freeing slaves more than feeding the hungry).
6- Reread: even if some text may seem obvious (example: "he made you into males and females" ) it might not be so obvious on a second read, either its sense or the reason it was written there, so I take screenshots of the stuff I Fail to understand or feel like there's more to them and discuss them with friends
7-
challenge it :
As I was reading and since the book is believed to be a word of god, I was inclined to find mistakes in it, even though I'm a believer myself
8- record: I take screen shots of my favorite lines, or stuff that impacted me

formal scaffold
# toxic plover I would like to discuss anger What causes you to be angry ? And why do you fee...

I rarely am angry, but when it happens it's extreme anger

I think it's because of the pile up of the negative emotions that I ignore (the powder) and the event that pushes me to explode (the ignite)

I feel angry because the pressure of those stuff which makes me wanna release them out, either by shouting, throwing stuff, using vulgar language.

I prevent that simply by getting rid of the negative emotions by exercising, overeating, crying, shouting in the highway while driving fast (during the night)

Blocking our feelings causes problems.

thorny steeple
#

anger is destructive that's why

#

it's okay to feel it

#

but it's hard to not act on it

lavish finch

Not having anger is not a solution. It’s a denial of reality. Like blocking sadness.

#

Feelings are our life energy. Important messages about our life.

#

Blocking such messages puts us in harms way.

toxic plover
#

I was specifically talking about anger because it can be the most Detrimental emotion out of all of them, simply because it can cause destruction

lavish finch

Would you propose only having the so called positive feelings, like happiness and blocking the so called negative feelings?

toxic plover

Wars, hate, murders, all originated from anger.

lavish finch

It’s natural and healthy to have our full range of feelings.

thorny steeple

i like how the stoics put it

#

it's okay to feel your emotions but don't let them dictate your actions

#

You seem to conflate feelings with actions

It's a messenger vs message issue.

#

Bad news may tell us that something horrible has happened. But getting rid of the message that something horrible has happened does not remove the reality of what happened.

#

Angry feelings can trigger angry actions. They can also fuel constructive actions that change the circumstances we are angry about.

thorny steeple

#

like someone insults you

lavish finch

all feelings happen on the spot. feelings are spontaneous.

and in the present.

thorny steeple

my point is that if a person insults you you're more likely gonna act violent than try to change the situation

If someone insults us it's natural to feel angry.

#

But I don't agree that you are more likely to act violently.

thorny steeple
thorny steeple

lavish finch

Again, that's natural. I call that the natural retaliatory impulse. When we believe we are being attacked, we want to attack back. But an impulse is not the same as doing it.
