I loaded up codeblocks last year, cause I had some issues doing plain c with vs. vs was ok for c++, but I won't say it was plain sailing. Some library issues almost sent my computer flying across the room.

I might recommend that you try learning c++ basics straight away, and then you get a bit of the best of oo programming which will be essential for almost all languages these days. You can't still write essentially c code with c++, but just need to have an extra set of {} for a class to wrap the main() . I may have a link to a simple video course pinned to this channel. I will see in a moment.
