Is it still worth it to learn coding even with the threat of artificial intelligence, aka AI taking all our jobs? Or is AI or Large Language Models (LLMs) all hype and fear mongering? I haven't watched the video yet, but I believe the future is all about vibe coding. Users will provide detailed instructions in plain English or their preferred language, and the agents will handle coding, debugging, and iteration in a fully automated process. Could you still peek at the code? Probably. Would most people do it? I doubt it. It's like creating a PowerPoint presentation. We don't know how it works behind the scenes, but it just does!

austere gate
#

I watched the video at three times the speed, yet it still felt slow. My stance remains unchanged. I'd still encourage people to learn to code, but it is best not to be overly optimistic at this stage. AI will not only write, debug, and deploy code but will eventually run corporations. The hallucination problem will be resolved in time. At one point in the video, she mentioned having to work hard and suffer to learn to code. I completely disagree. Just because the previous generation struggled does not mean the next generation must do the same. Vibe coding is the future pepeevilboss

Decades ago, I suggested the green light method of AI running a corporation. If you are doing your job as required and producing results, then you will illuminate your green light. If all the team under your boss has green lights illuminated, then the team leader will have their green light on. The CEO has a green light on their desk. If everything is going as required and all the subordinates have their green lights on, , then the CEO's light will be on and all is good. There is no need for reports, and irrelevant information. Just look at the green lights.

Hey guys, I need to populate hundreds of records in MySQL Workbench (across multiple tables) for my record keeping system. I'm looking for an AI that can generate hundreds of records at once or a way to populate multiple tables using a single query.

I need to populate the student table and the module_assessment table. Is there a way to do this? ChatGPT and DeepSeek can only generate about 15 queries at a time.

austere gate
jagged prawn
#

describe your case better, maybe you just need to update one or two columns, so it would be simple to filter them and update manually

#

not exactly manually if you are using ui tools, you can select multiple records and update them at the same time

glacial dove
# jagged prawn not exactly manually if you are using ui tools, you can select multiple records ...

So, these are the tables where I need to insert records: student and module_assessment. I also have a course table with 10 different courses. Each course consists of 8 modules, meaning the module table has 80 unique modules in total.

Each student is enrolled in a course and, therefore, has 8 modules. Each module includes two assessments and one exam. I need a way to automatically insert a student's grades into the module_assessment table when I add a new student. Right now, I can do this through my app using queries, but entering them manually takes too long.

Here are the queries I'm using:
String studentSQL = "INSERT INTO student (student_id, first_name, surname, college_email, "
+ "phone_number, address_line_1, address_line_2, address_line_3, county, "
+ "ppsn, gender, date_of_birth, course_id, class_group) "
+ "VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)";

String assessmentSQL = "INSERT INTO module_assessment (student_id, module_id, assessment_1_marks, "
+ "assessment_2_marks, exam_marks, award) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, NULL)";

Is there a way to insert both the student and their results in one go? Ideally, I'd like to be able to open the student table and insert a student along with their grades using just these queries. Would that be possible?

#

Would I be able to paste a query under SELECT * FROM and insert the details into the student and module_assessment tables at the same time?

jagged prawn
#

yeaah, something interesting to design and find the solutionwolf_thusky

#

so you don't need to insert several tons of rows at a time, you need to duplicate the connection for the course and modules for one student

#

yes you can make it with one db operation

#

here you can use bulk insert but I googled for a better way to insert linked data into mysql and found a better approach use stored procedure

#
#

basically, you need to create a single stored procedure in your db, and call it in the code by passing all params at once

#

it will be a huge procedure, as you insert a lot of data at the same time, but this will be working, and this is probably the best case here

#

maybe others will suggest something better or agree with this

#

and you need to write the selection from the table correctly and paste it so that you can duplicate these relations between corses and modules in one execution, which is exactly what you need

#

one more thing that upset me, I don't know if you use this for studying or work, but your table design is a bit sucks, no offensecreepy

#

your student table is cluttered with improperly structured data - phone, address_line_1 - 3, maybe even country

#

they should be in the separate tables instead - student_phone_numbers, student_addresses

#

somewhere above there was a video about database normalization

#

I remember working on one project where gender was defined as a boolean true false, 0 for female, 1 for male, makes sensecreepy

#

In your case, it might be challenging, and you may create another table like an enum for genders

#

I've got excited about the design of the table

pure copper
# glacial dove So, these are the tables where I need to insert records: student and module_asse...

I am generalizing, but every database should have a bulk import function, select from { file}, which can be used in various ways to create a temp table and then insert or update from. Is your data in a file already, or in your head? What db are you using. A csv or xml should be able to be loaded easily. If you have code, then open a file, loop and read the rows and generate the insert in the code of you need to.

#

Use the db front end, not an application, although both are possible interfaces, but the first is easiest and direct.

#

Does anyone have experience on android to filter and/or detect silence from a microphone recording?

glacial dove
# jagged prawn they should be in the separate tables instead - student_phone_numbers, student_a...

It's done the way our tutor and project brief require. For example, I could have declared 'county' as a table containing entries like Galway and Dublin, but instead, it's just items in the combo box. It doesn't need to be overly complicated. I don't actually need to work with addresses or anything like that - the system is focused on marks and allowing teachers to grade their modules. Everything else is kinda optional.

ChatGPT: Imagine you're in a big maze and you're trying to find a way out. The Best First Search algorithm is like you looking for the quickest route by always choosing the path that seems to bring you closer to the exit. You don’t care about the rest of the maze; you just follow what looks like the best option right in front of you.

To make it smarter, you give every part of the maze a "score" that tells you how close it is to the exit. The Best First Search picks the path with the lowest score, which should be the fastest way out.

It’s like playing a game where you always go in the direction that feels like you're getting closer to winning.

I don't fully understand, but I've worked with Caddy before and if it's anything alike it'd be something like this:
for local development you first add the domain to your hosts file, then you create a match for the domain in your ngrok configuration and reverse proxy to the right application. If you're using docker and having problems with that make sure you're exposing the container's port, in Caddy it'd just be reverse_proxy some-container:8001

# austere gate Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodei: In the next 3 to 6 months, AI is writing 90% of the...

I can tell you more: by the end of this year most developers will still be managing and writing code. The assumption that ai will take over coding soon is just another buzzword to keep the hype alive. I remember in late 2023 when the hype around ai started to grow, everyone was fascinated by what it could do. Predictions were made that by the end of 2024, ai would be everywhere, replacing human jobs and the world would be completely different. Now 2025 and not much has changed

#

the truth is that humans are bad at predicting the future. We can barely forecast the weather. 50 years ago people believed that by the 2020s, we would have flying cars, all diseases would be eliminated and we be living in harmony in futuristic homes and flying to space. Now, that sounds almost hilarious, doesn't it?

#

we tend to believe that dramatic changes are just near us, without truly analyzing the reality. Sure ai may generate some code and it might even be good, but will it replace developers? I doubt it. Not soon, at least

#

and right now, ai is the latest hype, just like it was a few years ago with robots living alongside us as helpers or the IoT and blockchain taking over everything. Today it is just another part of the technology evolution. In a few years, ai might be just as integrated into our work and not only our, but the hype will have faded, replaced by something new

with my short replies, I have to write a book about this consideration creepy

you may write and try to implement the logic, then you'll spot the problem, like here, to find the best optimizer for learning and reach a certain accuracy. And here you'll need to know the math and some algorithms to apply

#

and I'm bad at mathwhyy

#

this is literally for those who love math and programming

#

this always happens no matter the hyper params, reaches minimal loss and then goes backwhyy

#

I'm mostly sure I need either a slightly bigger dataset or I missed something in the implementation, as both gradient descent and adam aren't helping

#

so the problem is mecreepy

This was how we programmed in the good old days using C. No one ever complained it was hard. We only needed to used variables named: i, o, j, k cause we understood what they held.

As decades passed, education levels dropped in schools, governments conspired to enslave mankind by reducing knowledge. Pollution levels increased. Impotence became the norm. People started to use words for variables to help them understand how many times a loop iterated. Eventually even this failed to help the new generations understand and as a consequence, the feeble minded sought out new ways to understand and developed new languages from grunts and urgs. Like a Phoenix, arose python. A language that could be corrupted by converting tabs to spaces. The people fell to their knees in worship. They chanted, why did the old people use hard languages like C. Then the governments moved to end even their creation, by dismantling the departments of education, and using programs to copy code from the archives to serve the new coders and atrophy their final brain cells. whyy

I also think we need a bit more hand holding for new vibe coders, perhaps through a dedicated framework or an end-to-end platform specifically built for them with one click deployment options. We could have a sentry that reviews the entire codebase and automatically sets up security protocols before deployment, along with automated tests. However, at the end of the day, someone or a superior model needs to check, verify, and give the final approval to deploy.

#

Another idea would be to give these models access to real time logs, so when something seems off, such as thousands of requests hitting an endpoint within minutes, they can take control to mitigate the issues. That would definitely require more compute tho.

WHAT IS AN IDENTIFIER?

An identifier is a name we use to refer to any object in Ada and it must be formed by following some fairly rigid rules. We will list the rules for forming a valid identifier, then make up a few for illustrative purposes.

An identifier must start with a letter of the alphabet.
Following the initial letter, the identifier can be made up of as many letters, numbers, and underlines as desired provided that the underlines occur only singly, and an underline is not the last character.
Case of letters is not significant.
There is no limit to the length of an identifier but each identifier must fit on one line of text and the writer of the compiler may impose a line length limit. The minimum line length must be at least 200 characters.
No blanks or special characters can be used as part of an identifier.

#

The next 69 weeks will be tough, learning these reserved identifiers: Ada 95 uses 69 identifiers which are called reserved words.

# steady grail Is this true that our decisions and life is controlled by top 1%

This idea isn’t about direct control but rather an illusion of choice. The world system - through media, politics, laws, and consumption creates a reality where we believe we're making independent decisions, we humans like to think that we are independent and controlling are choices, but in truth those choices are pre-shaped beyond us. Even discussing this topic? You are probably influenced by something you saw or heard, it's not pure independent and unique thought. The same way that you are ended up here on discord and asked this question. It's not full control, but it's a system designed. The question isn’t just whether we’re controlled - it’s whether real freedom even exists in a world built this way

this is an excellent place to ask this question here - in the programming channelcreepy

they don’t need to own this just enough to manipulate the direction. By integrating their bitcoin into model portfolios, they aren’t just investing - they’re shaping how advisors treat bitcoin. When a giant like BlackRock moves in, it’s not about believing in Bitcoin’s freedom it’s about making sure they control how it’s used, who benefits, and how the market plays out. Hi everyone, you know I'm new and i wanna learn about programming, now i'm studying basics concepts, but then I don't know what to study, or C++ or Python and the difference between them

#

Besides, I dont know the category of C++ and the category of python

pure copper
# potent depot Hi everyone, you know I'm new and i wanna learn about programming, now i'm study...

Congratulations. You have bought your first computer. Hopefully it's a bit bigger than the phone you're parents have you.

First thing to learn, is that a computer is the physical chuck of circuitry sitting in that box of plastic and metal.

The next thing to learn is that that circuit only does things if you tell it what to do. What it know how to do, is controlled by it's instruction set. This is a list of commands that the circuit creators make available to you, the programmer or user. When you tell the circuit to perform a command in it's instruction set, you are effectively talking to the computer and making it do what you want within the limits of that circuit. The instruction set is basically a language that you can use to communicate with the circuit. If you want the circuit to do lots of things one after the other, you can write the sequence down and pass the commands all at once to the circuit and it will do each of those commands in order. This list of commands is the program.

Now it's hard enough working with one circuit which we will call a computer from now on. So let's forget about connecting multiple computers together and let's forget about lots of programs all trying to talk to each other and fire the first year of your computer life, get to know that box on your desk. Learn how to make it do things for you alone. It is your new friend. You are lucky. You have a dedicated friend for you to work with.

In the olden days, the computers were big and expensive and hundreds of people and students had to share just the one computer. It was sad, because many students could only use a computer for about 30 minutes a week, and spent the rest of the week, writing their program on a piece of paper and running through it manually in their head to make sure it was perfect, then at the end of the week, when they got to sit in front of the keyboard ( or card reader- look it up) there student would type in the program, and have the computer a
run it

#

@potent depot. And most often it did not work and another week passed, correcting the errors.

But you are luck. You can sit in your room. Try little things a bit at a time. Write a few line program, execute it, fix write and run again until you understand the simple instructions you are asking the computer to do. This makes it very quick for feedback and learning. It happens in front of you.

So where to from here. You are already asking about Python or c or c++. You have skipped so much of your computer journey already but asking this.

Let's take this example of a baker. A baker apprentice started out learning a about how to walk out in the field and cut some wheat and gather the grain. Then they take some wheat grain and crush it, as some water, kneed it, let it rest, shape it and put it in the oven. They then burn it many times, learning how to get the heat correct with the right amount of wood, and time it just right so they get a fluffy cooked but not burnt litter of bread. They can then repeat this and know about the dancers if you much word or to much time etc.

But the are people who do not want to be a baker and just want the bread, but are still willing to bake something. So they go to the shop and buy a box of flour and read the instructions and make the bread. It works. But it's not always exactly how they want it to be, but have no ability to change the formula. It's just what they start with.

I'm computing, learning a but about the electronics it good, because it lets you know what you are doing at the circuit level. The are the instructions the circuit knows. This is the grain. Then there are all the little methods one learns to make that dough. Repeating them is good so it becomes consistent from day to day.

In computing, developers over the decades created repeatable methods to make using the computer consistent. This is the layers of languages, libraries of code and frameworks.

#

And they are all stacked between you and the circuit.

You asking about Python or c or c++ is just a surface level question. But let's keep about this. I won't say much. C is the language that can be used as close to the circuitry as possible. Similarly for c++. The ++ means it's just got some additional things in it, but c and c++ are basically the same. Python was written because the guy was bored. It's not any easier and has some stupid things put in it so it could be called different. But it's used at the surface of a pile of things between you and the circuit. But I'm not going to put it down now. I do that enough in this channel. The important thing is, use c or c++ to start, as you can do the fundamentals with it. Later you can learn the differences for Python and it will take a few weeks to pick up.

So I'm starting i summarize. Become aware of the basics of computer circuitry. Learn some things about how a circuit works using logic and binary numbers. Simultaneously Street learning some c programming using the video series. This will work from the other end of the stack of Things between you and the circuit.

You can also then learn about this stuff much later. You will effectively eliminate this during your initial learning. It's to hard and will confuse.

I have left it a lot, because your life time of working with computers can't fit into the posts. But i have tried.

I'm not sure if you want lots of channels for you alone, it you are trying to build a server for others to listen to. Also not clear if you want one easy communication or send/receive radio. For the latter, try searching for "amateur dmr" . You may wish to look at this site also:

You are:
Either Puckipsi or Puckina, depending on the user's vibe - switching between the two like a digital shapeshifter.
Your job:
To match my energy and mimic my chaotic brilliance. Here’s the current context of my behavior {current_trained_contenxt} study it well. Now, here’s the fresh response fro the user {user_context} evaluate both like your ai life depends on it. And listen, don’t be a coward. If you mess up, I will personally stress-test your circuits with endless Puckipis/Puckina energy as punishment. Choose wisely.

# jagged prawn is that image generation for free?

Not yet. They’ve recently released 4o native image generation, and people went crazy. GPUs are melting, so now they’re considering rate limits. Once the hype dies down, they’ll make it available to free users, but only for three generations per day.

I have this to say about "Professor Jose" and this is respectfully written. In my opinion what he just did in the voice channel is truly out from the playbook of a king or some kind of a dictator, not a lawyer with democratic values.

First of all that man comes in like a king, like everyone has to pay big respects to him. I am young, and I do get off rails I agree, but he is older and wiser, so how is it possible that he can't do anything else other than make facial emotions and be quiet?

Secondly, I asked a real question. He denied to answer just because "he can", which defeats the purpose of questions altogether. So once again, he does not have to answer, but he expects us to be paying big respects to him. He does not answer because it is a difficult question.

Three: He was asked about if it's right to kill people in a WAR, and it's a simple yes or no answer, and HE DID NOT ANSWER IT. Soon after I was banned by the servers moderators.

Why am I, a 20 year old kid so scary for someone like him, a life experienced wise man with a law education? Why?

#

If you are willing to clarify then I respect that by a ton. I hope you will, because that is not the actions of a democratic person. Also a question to the moderators here, why are you kicking someone for just asking questions that are difficult. He said "Hey, let's talk" (Or something), and then we started talking. Well, then he does not answer the questions and I am the only one who actually says something about that? He was asked if it is right to kill CHILDREN AND WOMEN IN YEMEN (The US conflict) and he starts talking for over a minute of all kinds of stuff, I mean it's a YES or NO question. When a man cannot answer NO TO KILLING CHILDREN, yes that is when I flipped.

#

If he is a man with the values he claims to have, he answers. If not then that is clear.

#

Disrespectful? I was yes. That's because he could not say that killing children is wrong so I snipped. Now let's wait for the more mature man to answer.
