yes, I think that is why I dont do it. Also if you have a secondary partition then you can put all your installs on that rather than cloggin up a smaller Windows partition, which happens when everything goes in PF

#

d:\Data\...
d:\Applications\...

#

Easier for backing up data and programs etc. sticking all program output in D:\Data\...

#

I'm only using C:\ in my examples above as I'm using a hand me down machine, that has all on C:

If i have only one flash disk, should I still separate it into multiple areas like CDE...?

pure copper

Do you mean removable drive, or internal Flash Memory Drive

plucky quiver

#

solid state drive? I guess so

#

Oh SSD

pure copper
#

Probably not that important to partition, unless you want to avoid some full partition destruction, but that probably no more risky than a balloon floating past your machine and injecting a static discharge that zeros the drive. A single drive gives full access to the drive to expand until full. Multiple partitions can end up filling and then you have hassles expanding or moving things around. But separate directories are always good for file management at least.

STTAIC DISCHARGE WARNING: On this topic folks, its often said use a ground strap on your wrists when installing cards etc into your computers. But an incident that happened to me a while back shows that static can potentially destroy your laptop even with it nicely sealed. I was carrying my laptop to a new seat out on the verandah. The seat was made of that nice nylon material. As I slide into the seat with my jeans (typically you may notice this effect getting into a car with cloth seats), I could feel the static as I slid on the seat. Next thing I noticed, the laptop in my hand was now frozen and on. had to pull the battery to even turn it off. A lucky escape, but it could have fried the chips worse. Watch out for static.

pure copper
#

But disk file structure could be considered to see if it helps your problem.

First, I will turn off the UAC

#

Then I install it in C:\Apps...

I will also check if there is any blockers running

pure copper
#

I don't know what your installer is, but one other thing I used to do long ago, was run the setup in the CMD shell as Admin, rather than double clicking the setup file from Windows file manager/off the Install media

am just wondering, are programming languages similar in terms of syntax? if a person who learns python, will he be able to learn other languages in a shorter time span?

pure copper

The C-family languages are similar in terms of programming paradigms and syntax. These include C#, Java, C++, C, JavaScript, and sometimes people also consider Python one of them.

pure copper
#

I would also

#

For you eyes only

shy glade
# pure copper I would also

It is kind of similar, although it uses indentation rather than the curly brackets for scopes and code blocks.
Python is great for what it does, which is streamlining the development of complicated software or AI models. These would be more difficult if written in lower-level languages.

pure copper
#

When python first came out, i read a few pages and saw the indentation as part of structure and rejected it. Any language that can be destroyed by a word processor does not deserve to exist.

#

If simple was required, there was basic, and that had a lot of je ne sais quoi, without adopting a pet project of mr python.

#

But hey, i watched my 70 videos on Python recently, i submit to the fact it's all that appears to be taught or at least assumed to be what needs to be learned.

shy glade
#

You seem very seasoned, not gonna lie. There are only few people who knows about this language, unless learned about it in college.

# low stump I'm looking for one category of more graphic programs to create something, only ...

The only good software programs I know for making decent animations would be Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, and Davinci Resolve, but I think they have somewhat of a steep learning curve, so they are not that beginner-friendly.
But if you would like to make motion graphics and animations using code, I highly recommend using Motion Canvas. It's an incredible project created by Jacob (known as aarthificial, and has a YouTube channel by the way). It supports 2D and 3D graphics, and it comes with a lot of awesome features out of the box, but if you need more features there are a large list of community plugins that cover a wide range of functionalities.

I treat these LLMs as junior devs. When I have an idea and know exactly what I want, I use them to generate a template for a prototype, which I then refine to suit my needs. # eternal sandal Yo, everyone. I have what I believe to be an interesting topic, it's been discus...

This article presents an interesting point I've actually mentioned some time ago in another channel, which is how AI's ability to fare properly deteriorate the broader the scope it's given.
That's actually because of how AI works. AI models are probabilistic and therefore can sometimes be unpredictable if the context is broad to a certain point.
We're currently enhancing the same model that existed since the beginning of our endeavor in this field, which is the ANI (Artificial Narrow Intelligence). This model can only be effective if used within a narrow scope, hence the name.
People nowadays like to believe we've achieved AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) since AI models seem to not abstain from engaging in general scopes. But the reality is that, AGI requires more than just a massive dataset and powerful processors. It's still purely theoretical to this day and none of our achievements in the field has indicated we're even close. The illusion of generality is only caused by ANI models simulating certain aspects of human cognition, it makes it feel like they are truly capable of human cognition and can handle broad scopes with limited context.

That's my two cents.

js may not suitable for big platforms since we can miss validations of some variables and there are more critical concerns than that

Thank Gott. A few years ago, i read a book on Java while relaxing on the beach during 2 weeks of summer. (Java - relax). Well it was interesting. A month or so ago i said i must dig that book out and read it, as I'm dedicating this next learning period to Android development. I grabbed the book off the shelf and it nearly ripped my weak arm off. Must be 4kg. 1600 pages. I thought geee, did i really read this? Well i grabbed it again tonight to read while watching a movie. Encryption is just scrambling a message using a particular formula or method. It's not just a single method that you learn and forget. There are thousands of ways to encrypt a message the hard part is finding out how it was done, so you can reverse the method or formula to get the original message again. If you want to do something for yourself to his a message from parents, then apply simple methods, such as a= 1, b=2,... If you need it for an application, the are libraries to give you public key encryption. If you just want it for your own purposes and want to learn, try rotating the buts in the bytes of a message Caesar style.

# digital bloom affine cipher decryption formula or something like that

Affine cipher is very simple. In this type of cipher, you're provided with two integer keys, a and b.
The function is (ax + b) mod m. In this case x is the plaintext, a is the first key, b is the second key. The m is the number of letters in the alphabet, in English would be 26.
Now you'll often hear people call a a multiplicative key, and b a shift key, but just disregard those terms if they confuse you.
The alphabetic letters are then mapped to numbers from 0 to m -1 (in English, this would mean 26 - 1, which equals 25). Now all you have to do is to apply the function to each letter in the plaintext, this will result in a series of numbers, now you can substitute each number with its mapped alphabetic letter and get the ciphered text.
This is obviously a very weak cipher as it falls under the monoalphabetic category, but it's good as an introduction to cryptography, but just know that it's not applicable in real life scenarios as it's very vulnerable.

#

Also, the decryption function for this cipher is a^-1 * (x - b) mod m.

shy glade
#

@digital bloom
You might as well want to look into the RSA algorithm. It's one of the strongest cryptosystems and is frequently used in the web.
It's an asymmetric algorithm, meaning that it uses two asymmetric keys, one is public and the other is private.
To understand how strong it is, consider this example: If I asked you to give me two numbers that if multiplied will result to 30, you'd probably say either 15 * 2, 10 * 3, or even 5 * 6. Now, if I asked you to give me two numbers that multiply to 35, you wouldn't find any two numbers other than 5 * 7 to result to that number. That's due to a mathematical rule called prime factorization theorem, which implies that the product of two prime numbers is only divisible by those two numbers. This rule is the foundation of RSA. The private key (or secret key) is a combination of two random prime numbers, and the public key is the product of those two numbers (i.e., multiplying them would give us the public key).

Now keep in mind that the public key is only used to encrypt the message, and cannot decrypt it. While the private key is the only key used for decryption. It works as follows, the receiver sends the sender the public key, in which it's used to encrypt a message and send it. In the case of a middle man, reaching the public key is fundamentally useless since it cannot decrypt the encrypted message, and therefore the hacker has no other choice but to search for all the possible combination of prime numbers, which could be nearly impossible to reach if those two prime numbers are large enough.
It's like sending your friend a box with the lock, but without the key to open the lock. Once something is put in the box, no one can open the lock except the holder of its key, which would be you. The lock would represent the public key, while the lock's key would represent the private/secret key, which is not shared with anyone.

Just a quick example to clarify more. Assuming a is 5, b 8 and x is 18, then the operation would be (5^-1 as a modular inverse would equal 21 as we've seen above) 21 * (18 - 8) would equal to 210. If we keep subtracting 26 until we reach the last positive number before the zero (kind of a stupid method, but I like it as it's simple for me), it would be 2. So, the result is 2.

#

Now of course this 2 would map to a specific letter in the alphabet, namely C... I guess.

#

I'm not a mathematics guy though. I just made a quick search to verify my knowledge.

#

It's admittedly confusing though. I've stared at the function for a minute before deciding to look into why is the function like that.

#

I'm sure i understand deep down

shy glade
# pure copper What is 5 for

Look, the plaintext in the previous example was one letter, which is F. F maps to 5.
I gave you the encrypted letter number, which was 23. The modular inverse of 23 would be 3. How did we get 3? We need to find the number from 1 to 26 that if multiplied with the current number (which would be 23) would give us a remainder of 1 after dividing it by 26 (that's the m). I personally try all the possible numbers until I reach the one I'm looking for.
Now that we got a^-1, all that is left is to apply the function as I did in the screenshot of the browser console above.

Hey @fickle isle. If you are going to learn C just start with c++. C++ is really just to extended C, so of you really need C, it's just a matter of learning what not to use, which is is not that difficult.

Most languages are the same these days. They all have easy bits and hard bits. You can generally program simple things with the starter statements, and as you become better, you can add the more complex stuff when you feel you want to use it. Therefore learn a language that will be useful for a long time, and is well foundedrather than one that will pass away after a couple of years, or is constantly changing from year to year to catch up with features. Bad move. You're talking to a Linux enthusiast. DogeHehe
Linux is better in every way. It's free, it's open-source, and many Distros are more beginner-friendly than Windows itself. The only issue with Linux nowadays is the proprietary software applications that refuse to support Linux. Although it's not Linux's problem, this is the only thing that might actually be valid in deterring anyone to switch to Linux. But we do have workarounds though, mainly Wine and other compatibility layers built on top of it. They are not perfect, but it's still not a Linux problem.

robust elk
#

I have used linux, and I know the problems. That's why I am still preferring windows for now. It is not just about proprietary drivers/softwares. Many native things to linux is also not great. Wayland is not there, last time I used it, I was unable to share my screen or do some recordings. I heard many things have been fixed, but still lacking many protocols implementation. Wine is great for nothing IMO. I am not bashing Linux, Linux has a great eco system. If only you have time to invest. 😉

shy glade
# robust elk I have used linux, and I know the problems. That's why I am still preferring win...

Nah, there is no major problem in Linux other than proprietary software programs that only run on Windows and sometimes MacOS.
Wayland does fully support screencasting/recording/sharing. It's Discord that never updated its electron version. Ironically, I mainly use Hyprland (which is a Wayland WM), and I've made many programming courses on Discord and other platforms - obviously shared my screen - and I have a YouTube channel where I post videos regularly, and of course I record my screen (using OBS Studio if that what you were referring to).
However, assuming Wayland doesn't natively support those (although it does), if you were introduced to Linux properly you'd know, Wayland is still a work in progress. It's pretty much expected to lack some features, although it's rapidly maturing. You can simply use X11. X11 gets more things right that even Windows doesn't (such as support for non-standard input devices), of course in addition to the amount of control you get with it as well compared to Windows.

Also, Linux would obviously be counter-intuitive if you're coming from a Microsoft background thinking that Linux would be identical. Linux has it's philosophy that is different from Windows', the only reason people are comfortable with Windows is due to using it for a long time given its popularity (mainly because it comes preinstalled on most PC and laptops). I bet if you give anyone half the time to use Linux would get comfortable with it much faster, and further, would like it way more than Windows.
That said, many Distros as I mentioned earlier are very beginner-friendly. Some of my friends have recently switched to Linux and used those beginner-friendly Distros and never reported anything negative; rather, they immediately fell in love with them.

When your collection of data is readily available in memory, or you don't need asynchronous operations to fetch or process each element you can use IEnumerable

#

and when you are dealing with asynchronous data sources or your application benefits from streaming data as it's retrieved, rather than waiting for the entire dataset to be loaded in memory you can use IAsyncEnumerable

@pure copper Hello! I hope you're doing fine! I had a question about creating a local VPS and its visualization.... do you have any background in this regard?

Actually one question may lead to several questions haha

so I don't promise to ask just one XD

We must fight against Microsoft's monopoly of proprietary software applications by switching to Linux. ✊
That way we'll pressure the companies behind those applications to finally offer a native Linux support as the Linux community grows! ✨

Own your personal computer, don't let Microsoft own it. wolf_thusky

I have tried it and it is a lot harder to use (except the basic things like browsing) than Windows, but it has some great advantages such as the privacy or the fact that it is an open-source system.

Windows could be hard if it's your first time using it.

Try starting off with something like EndeavourOS, it's easy to set up and use. Just make sure to select KDE Plasma as the desktop environment rather than Xfce. It's a bit more bloated but has way more functionalities and features, and it's incredibly customizable as well.

It's a web app. Can be accessed from any web browser.

Chrome has a button with all the Google apps.

Also, Brave is chromium-based. So, you can expect anything that works on Chrome to also work seamlessly on Brave.

If Brave had things like Brave Calc (it is an invented app name), that browser would compete strongly against Google.

Its name is Brave Software.

Brave Inc. is dedicated to the browser's development though. Google on the other hand is a very diverse company.

If you are affected by sanctions, then that means a lot of other countries would restrict youalso. You need to find the alter block of nations, perhaps india, or unfortunately russia

that's a good idea though! or China they have good relationship with the country!

also there is one possibility... if I have a friend or a relative in there, they can do the transactions and somehow I can work with them or simply find a way to pay them back. because it's right that with sanctions i cannot directly access those companies, but indirectly i surely can.

Those value mean nothing without your bandwidth and /or hit costs. They appear to be contrary to the usual shared is cheaper, so these two plans are hiding something critical.

Consider how well are you known, and how much traffic you are expecting. If you have one website and are the وزارت دفاع و پشتیبانی نیروهای مسلح,, then perhaps the vps is a better choice. But if you are
cyberbird.ir , then shared may be better. In this case, you probably get some nice support with your extra 5$, but if you can set up a Windows machine or Linux with some Internet service perhaps the cheaper vps is for you. Personally i don't think i got any hits on my website over the last 25 years apart from me seeing if it was still running every few years.
