i might just start stacking my own frames instead of live stacking
anything past 40 minutes looks fried
two other variations just for testing
todays sun
kinda curious, would it be possible to use external S2 Ha and O3 filters to get an actual SHO image?
the tadpoles
casper the friendly ghost, pretty happy with the details
Lookin pretty gud for an unprocessed image
comet k1 atlas
as sword said, more integration
but also a better bg extraction
mgc/msgr would help a lot
I tried but graxpert wasn't graxperting
What's that?
very poorly frames orion š
Anyone have a good 3d file for a bahtinov mask?
3i atlas and 240p neat
Quick process of my 40 hours of Caldwell 12 data with SAS pro still getting used to all the new updates
bodes starless
~60 hours, dont have much time today so veralux stretch is gonna have to do for now
A few images from last night, not too proud of the Triangulum Galaxy however still good
Do I need to be a certain level to upload photos in here or something?
im trying to get some feedback on my image process š
You have to have the protostar premium role
Do you have to talk to get that or do you obtain it through the roles channel
I donāt really know, I asked why I cant send photos and an admin gave me the role
Gotcha, I used to be able to but I guess they changed it
Iāve just processed one of my captures on Seestar using GraXpert and Siril for the first time using some tutorials so I just wanted to get some feedback on it
you can just drop a message in general and ask for the role
Question, can the s50 do mosaic and stack together? Aka if I wanted to get a wider FOV I could do multiple mosaics and put them together?
Please @ me
Also, is it worth buying the s50 or should I wait until the s70 comes out? My budget isn't exactly huge but, if the s50 is dated / won't get updates after s70????
You have a mosaic mode that s50 does everything for you, if you save each frame you can also stack it by yourself
And make bigger mosaic than in s50 (in s50 you can take a mosaic of up to 4 panels)
I would be surprised if anyone knew (and could share) any details on s70
But after releasing s30 then there were a lot new features added to s50 app (itās the same app for s30 and s50, and itās a variation of ASIAIR app)
I just sold my s50 a few days ago but I was super happy with mine and I donāt regret buying it
Never thought about a used s50.....
Is eq mode worth investing into?
I never used s50 in the eq mode, because I wanted sth that I can grab with me and start taking photos without any polar alignment. For eq mode I have other, more stationary, rigs. Though, I heard eq mode is quite an improvement for s50
Hmm, I don't have those other setups nor will I probably ever have them, chatGPT was saying to me that eq mode isn't worth chasing but... I'd love to hear thoughts on it from someone that has maybe done it already
eq is honestly great for me. Did my first session in alt az and got mad at the field rotation. Bought the th10 the next day.
For the mosaic, it seems like doing individual panels and then combining those is better than using the build-in mosaic mode. The default loses a lot of time and its algorithm isnt the best, so some parts get more coverage than others
this is the result i got from ~14 hours of multiple panels and mosaics i threw together. In the end i probably couldve saved quite a bit of time if i just planned a couple individual panels from the start
What eq mount ? I really don't want to spend a ton of $ on a eq mount....
Wow!!!
i use the TH10, but ive also heard good things about the Star Adventurer Latitude
theyre both ~$90
if you aren't sure, you can always get the eq mount later
Oh!
You donāt even need any eq mount, itās just enough to get an eq wedge or anything that could keep your s50 leaning in a particular angle
Is it worth buying the leveler as well as a th10? The leveler being the Core Tripod Leveler for seestar s50 ?
I don't use one, nor do I know anyone that does
I would say get it only after the trying the eq mount and if there are any problems
i updated seestar after a while and im pretty sure 2x drizzle (4k mode) is now on the stacked fits. cause i checked the fit size and the dimensions are doubled. not sure about individual sub shooting
Tried drizzling tonight through the app and it sucked (30% success rate)
5 seconds vs 10 second exposures both non drizzled
Whatās the best way to get a good capture of Jupiter with the S50
Like how long of raw video would yall think is good
I would say no more than a minute or two. I dont think the s50 has enough resolution to get much more detail after that
this is the best i could get after ~90 seconds
Yeah I got some 20-30 second videos last night and they were alright
I saw someone on the Seestar community page have a crazy shot, most likely done by further post processing
I also am not sure if my exposure settings are good as well, I think last night I tried both low exposure high gain and then both low gain low exposure
This is what I could do last night, I probably couldāve changed some settings/focus but idk, Iām not a planetary photographer š
that actually looks pretty good
what combination of exposure and gain is this?
I forgot but I think I was at 1-2 exposure and possibly 100 or less than 100 gain?
The 80-90% illum waxing gibbous probably didnāt help that much with the photo as well lol
I wanna capture Andromeda, itās a clear night, but the moon is at 100%
A narroband target would be better, but you can still use the narroband filters on galaxies if you want
like just turn on the LP filter?
Yea, thays the narroband filter i think
I tried reprocessing this for fun and it wouldāve worked out great if GraXpert exported correctly but the real png file is super blown out and white for some reason so I just screenshotted what I had in Siril š¤£
So the quality is trash but idc too much to fix it
Plus I think I just had bad data from the start
messy edit, but not too bad for my first try an SHO
How much storage on some sorta drive you need for a 3700x10 sec sub stack on like Siril
Would this be the expected image after 9-10 hr integration in a B7-8? I feel like I should get more of the galaxy but idk
I basically stacked two batches using DSS on Seestar and then stacked the batches on Siril
try stacking everything in siril. stacking batches loses a bit of data anyway, and dss does some "magic" so its not optimal
Iām afraid I donāt have enough storage for it. I tried it a few days ago and it like stopped working at the last moment because I ran out of storage lol
I can try using an external drive for it
I think I need 200gb and I have 125 iirc
how many frames?
The total sub count is 3703x10 I think, but I know some of the images are bad so I think it was like 3690 something
That doesn't sound right. That many images shouldn't use up for than 10gb. Try using the Naztronomy Smart Scope script in siril, it does all the complex stuff for you and minimizes storage
Thatās what I did and it took up like all of my storage š¤£
did you use drizzle or feathering?
I think 1x drizzle
i mean 1x drizzle takes up a bit more space but it shouldnt take up that much more, if you want I could stack the frames for you
Iām not sure how much it is needed, nor do I know what it exactly does, I just know people do it š¤£
Yeah Iād have to figure out how to send the frames but it shouldnāt be too bad
you can upload the zip to something like filebin or google drive
gotcha hol up
thousands of frames will absolutely use hundreds of GB of space during stacking
max batch is 2k frames and only 1x drizzle. When i stacked it for him, it used less than 50gb
what software? dss, siril, and pix all use large amounts of storage unless there is some new algorithm that deletes intermediate files
M82 & M82 with help from some people in possessing
Naztronomy Smart Scope script in siril
does anyone fancy putting all putting all our m81/m82 data together to see how good of a result we can get?
I have 1 hr of M81 data from when I went to Kitt Peak observatory that might be good
now thinking about it idk if I have the individual subs, I think I do
ok I don't have it on my PC, idk about my seestar either
Thatās a shame that you canāt find it
how much do you have? I have a bit over 800 20s frames
I have about 3000 10 second ones
Sounds like a good amount to me
Does anyone else have any?
I mustāve not saved the subs when I was taking the exposure, or just deleted the subs entirely to save storage without knowing I didnāt save them š
Hey guys, just wondering what the most recommended tripod is for a seestar?
Star adventurer tripod from skywatcher is popular
