In Act 5 of the Sumeru archon quest, I thought Rukkhadevata still existed & only the people's memories would change. But with the interlude quest, from what I understood, it appears that Scaramouche really was erased? Because his previous actions were done by different people instead. I think what confused people is that canonically I think the trip to Inazuma during this quest took a few days at least, which people don't get. When we encounter Wanderer in the bazaar, it feels like it was instantly after Scara altered irminsul.
Actually it was a few days after and during that time Scara found himself in the wild, with his new false memories, where he encouraged the merchant that took him the sumeru city.

i think to answer most of that we must know what created the archon war in the first place
since celestia was there before it happened
and i cant imagine the simple reason to fight for the role of archon to be the only reason

we know they lived in somewhat alright peace
and cooperation
and most gods didnt even WANT to become rules
plus, tho "get the 7 divine seats" doesnt mean much because they arent even in celestia to being with
my only theory is that celestia was built as a source and connection to all the gods and their souls, or rather, their "divine seats" are and the one that was ruling threatened to destory the seats of the weak ones
and without the seats, they basically lose their soul
but that theory also doesnt make sense since we KNOW some only fought to defend their territory
and some didnt fight at all
