with absolutely 0 additional info on genres/what you like, sure. Domestic Girlfriend.
Hey, you didn't say "give me a good recommendation"
Coil
Cool
I'll search that up
How many eps i need to prepare myself for a full night watch
@topaz linden tell ek
Tell meee
Theres ss2 now?
Well, the butt suppository episode is episode 1, but if you're going to dedicate a full night to what was clearly a bad recommendation meant to get you to be more specific about what you're looking for, it's 12 episodes.
👀
Ideally when you ask for recommendations, you should clarify what you're looking for tone/genre/type-wise. Otherwise, you might as well just ask for people's MAL pages lol
No i just ask for anime recommendations
Cause why not
I hate myself and i have too much time to burn
Welp, I aint putting effort towards that then lol
Feel free to look through my spreadsheet tho
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1shb5sL0aFKrWi4KrSQeeNzy_pg60907abVI7ZyE_Nws/edit#gid=0
Since domestic girlfriend looks so boring
Like nothing interesting to me at all
Time to
Rewatch the entirety of re zero
Domestic Girlfriend is literally hot garbage lol
that time i got reincarnated as a slime
what do you guys think of In search of the lost future?
the anime one
Remake our life is kinda interesting
Was planning on checking out the first episode of that today. Seems like a nice premise
Who's excited of Chainsaw Man?
Not the #1 thing im hyped for (a few others beat it out for me), but it looks like itll be pretty good 👀
So im fairly excited for it
Gotcha
yo i read 1st chapter of chainsaw man, and damn it was good
Lol this is like the 4th time you asked here LMFAO
WHY NOTTTT
Did you watch all the anime I rec?
Some yes
Hell yea
Ugh, the Spider anime ending is both decent and frustrating...
Yeh, just aired today
Like... it wraps up the Spider side of things nicely...
But literally nothing is resolved with the human bit. Making me wonder wtf the point of all that was, since that was the worst part 😅
Also just how much Aoi Yuuki was carrying the show lol
I'm really doubting it'll get one...
I don't see Blu ray sales for this one doing that well with how shit the production was, and thats usually what determines if a sequel gets made (that and manga sales... but its a monthly manga, it aint selling a ton of volumes lol)
well... it aint spider isekai... but Aoi Yuuki did a great job in the Slime-killing Witch isekai 👀
same kinda vibe there tbh (character personality wise)
Oh, you havent finished it?
The last 2-3ish episodes of the Killing slime anime were really good
Especially Episode 10
||was not expecting feels in my isekai||
I mean, its just vibes lol, not episode deets
but yeh. Ep 10 is my personal favorite (tho the last episode is the best kind of fan service. Classy, but very service-y)
this isn’t the right chat jean lol
...
..
OH
NO
KLEEEEE
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Klee blew up the fish....
😩 ...
lmao
Kemeno Jihen is just your average run of the mill shounen. Nothing too special really, just a MHA but not even as good (and I din't even like MHA much). Both the plot and their powers are meh.
Favorite MAPPA animes for me:
-Banana Fish
-Dorohedoro
-Shingeki no Bahamut
I'm also excited to see this new anime coming soon called "Takt Op. Destiny"
Bokutachi no Remake is good
what's a MAPPA?
it's an animation studio
is that the one released the first ep today?
I think I'm about to watch it
i see
For the past 4+ seasons, Saturdays have always been stacked
It has the Re Life meets Shirobako vibes
Speaking of Shirobako I was pretty disappointed in the movie and s1 ending ;c
I agree the movie has a lack of charm compared to the anime series
It's sad cause I enjoyed the anime series. Then the movie comes in and tells us that after ||5 years, basically everyone just separated and now the girl is on her own||. It just doesn't feel right.
Also about Bokutachi no Remake it feels like major ReLife vibes plus Shirobako but it's like about games so adding New Game elements too LOL
I'm liking it though
I highly recommend Shirobako and New Game
I forgot what anime I said I’d watch this season, but I think I got one or two more
Oh Dragon Maid and Aquatope
Finally finished all the anime that aired today c;
I liked Shadows House, I hope it gets a second season
Kumo Desu ga apologized for their production issues and everything only to come back with the same low quality CGI 👍
Tokyo Revengers Steins;Gate 2.0
and the new releases aren't bad
Yeah I had a friend who liked New Game too
Just finished Nagatoro. Man, what a stark contrast to the way the anime opened.
Time to watch the WEP OVA. I actually quite liked the main series - although I think sometimes it got a bit preachy for my liking or had themes I flat out disagreed with. It seems quite a few people here quite dislike the series; hopefully the OVA doesn't tarnish it.
Aha
Yeah for me the animation was the only prominent thing it had going at first
but even from time to time I didn't give a damn afterwards
story tried to be thought provoking but it felt so forced and I wasn't feeling it that much
only to choke on its own structure after that recap episode
and themes you flat out disagreed with?
I would definitely raise an eyebrow when the writer literally thinks "guys commit suicide because they're pressured and girls commit suicide because they're emotional and male society couldn't grasp that" in an interview regarding impusivity as a theme
that's what it said?
where I watched there was a different translation
Nah it was an interview quote
oh
I'll send the full quote
I just basically summarized what Nojima said
[Interviewer] And the work touches on the theme of "impulsivity", too, right. And that's tied into the reason why all the ones who come out of the eggs are young women.
[Nojima]Some of them even hold hands and jump off together! It's not quite the same as holding hands and going to the bathroom together, but I think it's a sensation that male society really can't grasp. When men commit suicide, it's because they're really suffering under bullying, for instance, or they're crushed under debt...... I think it's mostly due to logical reasons like that. But girls, well, it's strange to call it "emotional", but I was thinking about how that motivates them, and the uncertain feeling I got from that is what made me start working on this story.
tbh I don't know how to feel about this lmfao
ayo 7 anime studios collabing with Star Wars
and of course Trigger stole Lio's character design from Promare kappa
many interesting animes have come out this season Im looking forward to
Remake our life, Kanojo mo Kanojo and the new isekai Realist hero
I might take a look into Remake soon but not now
Tanmoshi is gonna air in 5 hours and there's some anticipation going around, cuz first episode should be pretty interesting considering the synopsis
ENGI productions giving me some qualms on god and highkey having doubts with the overall direction
but I can always be wrong
Ah yes tanmoshi is also an interesting one
Yeah right now this season I only watched Sonny Boy and Kanojo mo Kanojo
Former is pog, latter is so bad it's good
Time for a review

The review tonight is Josee the Tiger and Fish
Lets go
This movie is interesting
It's a romantic drama
It has an interesting concept
Sometimes it feels like any romantic love story
But it does a good job cramming something that's usually 13 episodes or 24 episodes into 90 minutes
There's just one problem that pisses me off
It pisses me off on principal
I do think had they not done this one thing... I would have given it a much higher opinion/regard
That said, I think most people will like the movie and it's well crafted
There's like 6 characters in the movie that get decent screen time
I think if you're a romantic drama fan like 5cm per second, your name, weathering with you, Please Eat my pancreas, and Your Lie in April.... this one is worth watching
It's just.... there's something really annoying that happens that makes me go crazy that I can't personally say it's an anime that I'd recommend over the above
But if you love romantic dramas, this anime is worth watching when you run out of things to watch.
Did you enjoy it overall?
Now this one thing I won't spoil even with spoiler tags, but if you watch it, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about if you interact with me enough
I did enjoy it. It was good. Even with the pet peeve that makes me crazy
It's an underrated movie cause it's new
And I haven't seen much chatter about it
But the reason why I watched it was because it looked interesting
Ok
And it is interesting for the premise and concept
Add it to your if you're in the mood for some romantic drama
I also liked the art
Oh snap someone else seen Josse
Yes it is made by Bones
Great animation and art dtandard for the course for a theatrical anime film
I think its underrated
Hence why I'm reviewing it lol
I have to hype some shows up
🍿
ik a couple of us who watched it
I’ll let you know my quick thoughts now
Points added: Production and Eve bias, straightforward message, and a tad hitting at times
Points deducted: predictable and formulaic, even I predicted ||Mai confession|| and that shit pissed me off
I bet Bootlit knows what thing makes me crazy
Aww you didn't say it in spoiler brackets
I’d be surprised if it wasn’t ||Mai confession||
There's a certain thing that happens in a lot and I mean a lot of anime
A plot no jutsu
A meme
It happens so much its a meme
And its used for plot no jutu
||Truck-kun|| strikes again. That was my annoyance
That’s what I meant by formulaic
You know me more than Bootlit rofl
I thought Bootlit knew me too well
I mean at this point I cared more about that bullshit confession than a fucking Truck-kun
Cuz I really dislike Mari Okada’s stuff
Yes truck kun was predictable but that confession was my last straw
I mean that was just par for the course in a romantic drama
The art was amazing tho. Like their 180s and camera angle changes plus that whole scene where she was daydreaming as a mermaid.
It takes risks in some areas
But plays it very safe/generic in others
The meme keeps on giving
And for that... I was very angry
I’m pretty sure everyone else can predict truck-kun being your pet peeve Reyn but only real ones can see where I’m getting at with this
Cause if that one thing didn't happen, I would have had a much better opinion
I dunno
Sometimes predictability is good
It's not like Your Name was original
But it was executed very well
I mean Your Lie in April had some memes too
Your Name was one of Shitkai’s multiple attempts to make a grossing film
It had all of his tropes
Running
Rain
More rain
Star crossed lovers
It's still his best work for me
It’s best for a lot
5cm per second and the Shoe One are very close behind
Pancreas is the most recent romantic drama I watched and it was amazing
Garden of Words is the Shoe one?
Yeah we definitely have different tastes
To be fair Pancreas is best romantic movie for me and I even read the novel for it beforehand
Gave it an 8
Romantic dramas are about execution for me
It's just... plot no jutus are a big no-no
I swear ||truck-kun|| is used so much it ain't funny
I seen too much anime for that crap
Worse than the ||tentacle|| meme
Worse than someone eating toast in their mouth running to school
I hate ||truck-kun||
Bruh at this point if I can overlook ||truck kun|| and worry about other things with a romantic drama
Then lmfao
I guess that's fair
Everyone has that one thing that makes it ruined for them
Mine just happens to be the biggest meme of anime
No like seriously I bet you anyone who’s watched the movie would’ve said ||truck-kun|| being the “ah too predicatable”
Cuz they would’ve known some anime memes already
But my mind is too focused on character drama
I get that
But for me, the execution of Josse was done well
Plot point after plot point kept me interested
As in I was paying attention and interested in what happens the entire time even if it was generic/predictable
It was generally straightforward and ofc production and Eve so I gave pity points as usual cuz those parts I enjoyed
Definitely one of the best drama films for me
Kind of. But redemption is more the main focus of it. Theres hints of romance, but its not a main theme at all
Yeah redemption is definitely a huge message in this
There's a lot of anime in the drama category
Romantic drama isn’t the main catch
Dat Anohana tho
tbh, Your Name would be a mediocre af film if it didnt have such incredible fucking animation
^
Idk why I left Anohana at a 5 I should lower it some more
I'm not consistent in my anime opinions
I really love gag anime
Most folks don't
But there's those serious compex anime that I also like
And its fun seeing them juxtaposed next to each other
Which is why I guess scores are useless in a sense
But no l loved Anohana
Gave that an 8/10
Damn lmao
But the thing is... I gave Your Lie in April an 8
I gave Koe no Katachi an 8
I gave Garden of Words an 8
And in this theme... I dropped Your Lie in April 😅
5 cm per second an 8
Etc
Josse got a 6
If it didn't have the meme, I'd maybe give it a 7
Your anime opinions are inconsistent yea LMAO
Remember, reviews/opinions are about enjoyment first
I feel like im at least somewhat consistent...
Unless there's a particularly cute tsundere/chuuni.
Rikka is the main reason Chuunibyou is a 9 for me.
And Yamada Elf brought Eromanga sensei up a ton for me
Highkey I would understand cuz the character drama was pretty whatever and the comedy was so ass for me
But that last episode spoke so much to me so I had to give it pity
In a sense any anime that gets even a 6/10 or higher is something that I speak good about
Definitely a 10/10 episode while the others are like decent 6
After all a 6/10 is above average
Yeah cuz the execution had some solid moments
But Your Lie in April is to me the Romatic Drama
You have to watch it if you like the genre
And in a sense 5cm per second is my favorite bitter romantic drama
It really hit me in the feels
5cm per second took some time to grow out of
For me ofc
Like before it was like “ay that’s pretty solid” but then you realize “oh this is supposed to make a high schooler cry” LMAO
Pancreas really surprised me after I've first seen it
I love these super late chats lol
But Pancreas is pretty solid I really love it
Nah we have a lot to talk about I’m sorry 😂
Someone who lives in East coast is gonna be nearly 4 AM lol
Yea
It's almost 3 AM where I'm at
9:40am here, just woke up lol
Naturally, anime is the first thing my waking brain does
But anime is my passion lol
ReynTime what did you give Nana?
If we was talking about Genshin I'd be sleeping lol
Its a way of life
I gave it a 6/10
Beuh
Im surprised that the girl did not || die bcs of illness|| trope
Fair enough considering we talked about this
it threw me off guard
This ain’t a Jun Maeda anime bruv
LMAO
That is the first anime movie Ive watched so I didnt know
(||Blessed name by the way. Welcome to the Cult of Roxy||)
Yes
Bro that The Day I Became A God work he made
He hyped it up only for it to flop and he literally dipped afterwards
I heard a lot of hype around that, and then it just kinda went off the radar mid season lol
How the fuck you make like “3/4 of your anime boring SOL” and then work the plot after cuz that’s what I heard
Yeah I heard he went missing during the last episode
It seems he is all good now
But he was so embarrassed by his most recent anime he dipped and went MIA
That’s what we’re thinking
Cause he did a weekly talk show with a seiyu talking about his thoughts before each episode
He didn't do it for the final episode
His formula is too obsolete for the medium.
Sorry man, can’t do a baseball episode every time you make a series
Illness? Too predictable
Yeah its why I don't like Clannad
he also made charlotte and angel beats right?
It took way too long for me to like it
Yep
I loved Angel Beats though
Angel Beats was his last good series
I heard Little Busters was good
It was simple and fun characters drove enjoyment
Never watched it
I heard normal good praises for it
One more topic before I sleep lol
Charlotte would’ve been ok if the last few episodes weren’t rushed but I think we all know that
charlotte was so rushed
Only Okada series that had lots of OG praise
So I’m assuming it should be fine for most
Cuz I haven’t watched
But pretty tropey characters innit
Ugh
If you like Anohana you should like Toradora kappa
And you got Reyn's angry anime list
Still need to force myself through the last three episodes of Golden Time
I want to mark it completed
But it frustrates me 😅
I hate the above three shows
sakurasou had some cringe moments but I actually liked it
With a passion
maybe for guilty pleasure
If you hate Bunny Girl you should hate Sakurasou kappa
That all depends on whether you like Taiga.
I HATE Toradora
I hate Bunny Girl... but for different reasons lol
Taiga is textbook tsundere but then again a lot of Okada series are filled with textbook tsunderes, only Taiga is a bible
I'll gladly say I hate Sakura sou
And I'll gladly say I hate Toadora and Golden Time
And those are technically romantic dramas lol
So Josse>>>>>> the trash three lol
Plastic Memories didn’t make me cry and everyone around me told me I’ll cry so that’s why I’m like eh it’s ok didn’t cry tho
Toradora had some great emotional beats, but at the same time, it has a long-ass runtime that takes a lot of commitment if you're just middling on the series. I didn't care for the side characters much. At the end of the day, if you don't like Taiga, you will hate Toradora.
Been predictable since the beginning for me lmao
I mean there are a lot of reasons to hate it
But the fact that it doesn’t take itself seriously with the banters makes it so entertaining
What’s yours?
I'm gonna sleep, but here's why and I'll give you a chance to react ||knock off Haruhi and Monogatari||
I sleep
Except S2 Haruhi turned into an absolute dumpster fire.
Isn’t that the one with the Endless Eight episodes
I heard many mixed opinions on it, like literally 50/50
The Endless Eight is honestly such a ballsy "fuck you" that I cant even be mad at it lol
Yea it depends
Im sure it was frustrating as hell live. But now that I can skip it, its just a hilarious bit of history to me 😅
Man every day I keep finding ways to rework my anime list
I can talk so much smack for an anime and still give it a nice rating
Lol typo
Its the opposite for me.
Theres anime that bug me, but I try not to let my initial reaction bias my score, so I give higher ratings.
...only to come back months later and be like "No wait, that still bugs me. Bottom of the list you go"
Bro that was literally me like 2 years ago
Like all I give are 8s, 9s and 10s
Now I’m trynna go for a better score spread
Meanwhile, im debating intentionally watching trash so I can pad out my 1-5 range lol
Only got like 3 there atm
And who knows, maybe there'll be a gem or two. Eromanga sensei was supposedly in the "trash" category, but I ended up really liking that one
Heh
Imma doze off to bed. Good talk, would be down to continue this when I wake up or sum!
I watched the endless eight all the way through, and that wasn't the worst part of the series. No, (spoiler and trigger warning for sensitive subjects regarding the end of the S2 of Haruhi Suzumiya) they torched the series ||when Haruhi drugged Mikuru and tried to get Itsuki to sexually assault her, and when she's called out for it, she tells them they're her toys and never apologizes for zip or says she was wrong.|| It distorts Haruhi's character for not only the rest of the series, but it reshapes her interactions in all preceding encounters. I can recognize the brilliance of the Disappearance, but from a personal perspective, I have nothing but disdain for the series.
The talk never stops, so feel free lol
Gn
Yikes. Havent actually watched the series yet, but ive heard mixed things about it
Doesnt change that the Endless Eight from an outsider's perspective is still the most hilariously dumb thing an anime studio has done
Like, theres dumb decisions studios have done, but theres at least some world where you could make an argument for their choices.
The Endless Eight is just objectively stupid, even to a non-anime watcher 😅
Yeah . . . it sets up some context for the Disappearance well, but it should have been constrained to one episode, maybe two.
I understand the idea, and I think even three would be fine
I watched it on I think 3-3.5x speed to get through it tho.
But not 8 lol
Yeh. Imo, three would have done the trick.
One to set it up.
The second to be like "huh, that was weird"
Third to be "oh fuck" (ideally, with the loop being broken being the very end of the episode)
Quite apparently Reyn and I have differnt tastes in anime, lol.
Oof. Havent given any 1's for anime yet. only the DomeKano manga
lol, like I said, I really don't like the series
Yeh, thats a fitting 1 then
Imo 2-5 is for "Bad" shows.
In order for something to be a 1, it should actively frustrate/bug you, even long after the initial reactions have calmed down
Like, 2-5's are just "ill never recover the time I wasted watching this", while a 1 should be more of a "fuck you, and fuck you for making me read/watch this"
Thats at least how I approach it 🤷🏻♂️
(Backread a bit) My take on Your Name is that it's a simple story that's brilliantly executed. It's formulaic and doesn't try anything new or brilliant, but it takes the aspects of a known story and does with it just as well as nearly anyone can do imo, creating something that has its own personality and breath.
That's why I say that Koe no Katachi (a Silent Voice) is a better story, but Your Name (having the benefit of being an original work) is better executed. I gave the former a 9 and the latter an 8.
I mean, when I said mediocre, I was still meaning like ~a high 6, low 7.
But other shows have taken similar stories in a much more fleshed out way. Its saving grace imo is the 10/10 animation (both the overall quality of every scene, and the expressiveness/attention to detail in the characters that gives greater depth than even the acting can)
Still gave it a 9, but thats largely due to the sheer quality of its soundtrack and animation 👀
(Koe no Katachi was a 10 for me though. A simpler animation style, but a deeper story/character development)
tbh I only really liked your name bcs of music
Oh, yeah, I totally agree that there are way better romance stories out there than Kimi no Na wa. I just think that it didn't try to do much, but what it tried to do, it did it nearly flawlessly.
Kimi no Na wa spoilers: ||Although I think it's kinda stupid that Takagi never bothered to ask where the hell he was in Mitsuha's body and neither of them noticed on their fancy smartphones that they were living in two completely different years. ||
Planning to watch Shadow House. Vivy was incredible tho
I saw the MAL score rating and it was pretty big, maybe around 8,6
Yea i mean the story, the animation, and the others
Vivy and Odd Taxi were the easiest 10's I've given in a long time.
Animation: 9/10 (no over the top Sakuga, but the choreography was 100% top-tier)
Soundtrack: 9/10
Story: 10/10
Hope you like it. So far its one of my top shows this year 👀
Btw,how are you always in this channel
Irregular sleep schedule + a job and school life that have no "fixed" time
Im fairly active in #・lore-basement , but I avoid the rest like the plague
Yea,you always here when im asking about animes
what's OddTaxi all abt?
Basically 6-7ish independent stories (a comedy duo trying to make it big, an idol fan with a huge lottery, an old man trying to find love, an idol group preparing for their big debut, etc).
And all of these independent stories intersect through the nexus of the main character: Odakawa, the Taxi driver
So it's an idol anime
Not at all
Hmm
Thats only one of the 7ish stories, and the music isnt even the focus
Ohh interesting
Closest genre would probably be crime mystery, since the criminal story ends up being the dominant one towards the end (or at least, impacting all the others)
I thought it was like love live
The main stories:
- The taxi driver trying to avoid shady corrupt cops
- The taxi driver's friend trying to find love
- The idol group trying to make it big
- The idol fan who wants to support the idol group
- The crime gang planning a big heist
- A guy with the crime gang's gun on the loose
- A self-designated Youtuber vigilante after the crime gang
- A rakugo comedy duo trying to make it big
- And a handful of minor stories
The show finds a way to make all of these stories intersect, with characters from one regularly bumping into characters in the other, with the Taxi driver as the "hub"/"nexus" of these connections
All the stories are connected, and the ending the show builds up to impacts all of them.
Its honestly some S-tier writing lol
Not at all 😅 if anything, I'd say its closer to a Taratino film (got some major Pulp Fiction vibes)
I've decided to read kano mo kno manga
Holy sht im just 5 chapters in and Im laughing so hard
Saki's reactions are definitely gold
yusss
and the anime adaption (so far) has been perfect
Saki's VA captures her reactions so well
we all start somewhere
Q: Was this done in paint? 👀
(asking because it looks like those were the tools used, and any advice would be based on the program you're using)
You're right, its kinda bad than the version u intended to copy
drawing in Paint
I mean... its not ideal lol
but theres some that do it as a challenge (those people are masochists, but I digress)
oh yeh, speakin of art... I finished (well.. finished coloring) some Roxy art the other day 👀
let us see!
btw Whats with the 40min+ anime this season? Both detective and remake have that on their first episode
That's usually just "episode 1 and episode 2 merged into one" usually. Its a director's choice if they want a more dramatic/detailed start to their series (I believe Astra: Lost in Space did that for both its first and last episodes)
Honestly, that and a director that's willing to skip the OP/ED for important scenes is usually a sign of good directing imo. Havent seen a poorly directed show that used those
But yeh 👀 I color manga panels and ln illustrations as a hobby, so it was only inevitable that Roxy would end up getting included (Mushoku tensei has some really good LN illustrations)
Ok lets see what I missed
Holy shit that’s pretty fucked
@queen elbow @hollow otter Oddtaxi is a humanly driven mystery revolving around a taxi driver and a huge variety of unique characters with their own motives that drives the story and contributes to the mystery. The main premise is that a girl went missing and throughout the episodes you learn more about the characters and links to the mystery.
It is not a full out idol series LMAO
yee, went through a detailed (but to my best ability spoiler free) summary lol. Its a hard show to describe.
def not an idol series tho
I wrote like a small review note on the series on my AL I should cpaste and send it here in a while
Cuz after that talk regarding the studios and that audio drama along with that standalone theme song for Yano
Raised it to a fat 9/10
And yea your summation take is really pretty solid too
Didn’t think it’d reach to the 2 so I pinged them with mine lel
Pretty much sums it up.
I'm only about 3 episodes into Odd Taxi. I'm interested to see where they take the story. If they can keep the cast three dimensional and not fall into any tropes, it'll be a treat.
Have fun!
Regarding WEP: "I hope the OVA doesn't tarnish it".
Welp, that didn't happen, lol. Jeez, how to make a dumpster fire of a good series in ̶4̶0̶ 20 minutes.
LMAO
Who animated it again?
Wit studio
MAN I miss Wit for AoT
I thought so. Yeah, big names for that series. I believe it was the writer of Re:zero and the studio for AoT. Haven't seen it yet, but I have high hopes.
They must be did some research
The knife fight scene in particular was really incredible
Such good choreography
I still have that vid Jake sent of that knife fight saved LMFAO
Matsumoto is like a built different Wheatley
Fcking good
@shadow knot I've got a growing Sakuga folder lol. That's just one of many in my collection 👀
Vivy is underrated af in the Spring season don’t sleep on it
I would reccomend if you like sci fi or with some action
Yea very underrated
No one in my social media's feed talk about it
It’s your typical blockbuster-type beat vibe but done really well
Hm, idk. It has the stakes of one, but theres a few deeper themes in Vivy that put it a bit above a "blockbuster beat" imo.
Especially the sense of passed time and its impact.
Yeah the themes are pretty simple, can be driven depth
Like how each and everyone had a reason in living
And they fight for it
The ||episode where she's interacting with the kid from the beginning of their life to middle age|| lowkey gave me a mini existential crisis lol
and the last episode too
Lmfao took me a second to realize it’s Matsumoto
She clapped after vivy's final performance
Oh ya that last performance is pretty great
personally, I love how its only 12 episodes, but theres like... 4 or 5 versions of the OP lol
...Spoiler tags are recommended for spoilers 👀
Put || on both sides of what you want to spoiler
Yeah production pog
Yeh yeh
Well, got a surprise one lol (didnt even expect it myself)
I went into the first episode of The Realist Hero Rebuilds the Kingdom expecting "okay, a worldbuilding heavy story. I guess ill sit through meh visuals and low production if it means more l o r e.
But the first episode actually had some really nice production quality to it 👀 Especially the "summoning" part.
Ayo?
The king is annoying, but he basically fucks off and never becomes relevant again after the first episode lol
I know someone said the production is second rate but will give the benefit of the doubt for the later episodes
Guess Imma take a look somewhere today then 👁️
Yeah just the title itself fares my interest still
Lowkey wanna see his take on rebuilding the kingdom
Well, the actual plot is fairly typical isekai lol (just with an economics twist). Lots of "oh wow, modern knowledge in medival setting" shenanigans. But the SFX in particular caught my attention.
480p cause shitty internet, but SFX doesnt need high res lol
@shadow knot This bit in particular is what caught my attention
Exactly 😂
It reminds me of Mushoku Tensei flexing with that Sword practice opening
Not real 4K
Anime name : Mushoku Tensei
"Okay, so how should we open this episode?"
"Oh, well they just started learning self-defense, so we should probably show them training"
"Okay, and how much animation budget should we dedicate to this?"
"Idk, make it one of the best animated fights this season?"
"You said this is... just them training, right?"
"did I stutter?"
Lol if that’s one of the best fights here then I wonder how the others will look like
Bro what is she wearing 😂
Beast people dont give af lol
one of the running jokes is that she doesnt really give af about her appearance. "more muscle than brain"
It's an isekai isn't it 🤦♂️
not just any
it's the isekai
like... one of the very first
(And the inventor of truck-kun)
Alright then
You would really like the middle of the season highlight. Some really unique sfx
||https://youtu.be/9oZ0PnBuSRc||
Dosen't really sell me on the show since I hate those tropes
Ooh pretty lit
Well, that wasnt really the elevator pitch lol.
If I wanted to pitch the show:
Mushoku Tensei (the show/series) is basically an worthless shell of a person's attempt at a second chance in life.
While they might be reborn, they arent a whole new person, and still have many of the scummy traits that they had in their original life that led to them getting kicked out.
However, for all their faults, they do try and improve themselves, and as the series follows their life from literally birth to death, you get to see them grow and mature as a person. While yes, it does have the "isekai tropes", its a bit different, since this show literally invented them. So they're not the formulaic iterations you're used to.
S1 will have some very "yikes" moments, but thats largely the author's way of highlighting just how worthless of a person they were before they isekai'd, and are almost entirely limited to just first eight-ish episodes.
Also on top of that, for some reason Wit Studio decided to send its S-tier animators and production folks over to it, so it seriously has some god tier animation and effects lol
Back then people praise it as the “godfather” of isekai too.
Definitely not the first ever, but it’s one that became the first to be received widely
🤔
Like, no subtitles, but to show off the animation quality: the first time the MC uses a Water ball spell
https://youtu.be/7xfnWSY4I7U
Having read just the first volume of the series
That shit’s pretty insane
Like in the novel it’s just “oop water spell pretty cool”
But in the anime HOLY MOLY
Minor spoilers (Ep 5), but the Ghislane vs ||bandits|| fight was honestly incredible.
God tier sfx, and a really unique way of showing just how beyond them she was
||https://youtu.be/sOsFgGoFQRE||
Hows the story/writing? Characters? Worldbuilding?
Characters are all very flawed, but very well written.
World building is God tier.
Story is interesting, but not its main selling point (character relations and worldbuilding are the main selling point of it)
The story is essentially the MC trying to have a normal f-ing life, only for FMA:B Truth-wannabe popping in every now and then to go "oh hey, shits about to get fucked"
I can account for the world building
Reading LN/WN isn’t really my thing so it was a chore reading the first volume, but what kept me reading was the magic system
Just the fact that the MC has to learn the world's language, and that that becomes plot relevant later on is just
Its the little things
Does the story subvert any tropes? Is it groundbreaking? Or just generic?
I could let Jake answer this tbh lol
Bottom line from what I heard it founded the isekai tropes lol
But he can elaborate
brb
That's the thing tho. I freaking hate isekai solely because of those garbage tropes. Isekai has the most potential to tell incredible stories with interesting characters but nah let's just copy and paste the same overdone tropes
Of course there are exceptions like re zero
Hm, its harder to list subversions than it is to list tropes (in general lol), but if I had to think of subverted tropes:
Demons aint inherantly bad. Demon kings are often reasonable.
There's not always "my friends and family are good, my enemies are bad". The MC runs into quite a few situations where the people he's closest with are the people he has to stop.
Playing hero backfires on the MC. A lot. Some die and get injured because the MC wanted to show off.
Basically a lot of what usually works out fine in isekai doesnt here. MC doesnt get girls just because he looks in their general direction. His plans usually end up failing and he has to scavange a way out to make them succeed.
Regarding the last point, there's actually a fairly notable amount of overlap with Rezero in that sense. Except he doesnt have a do-over button.
If tropes are the concern, it founded them, but its not reliant on them. When it did them, they were still new, so they didnt just drop them and expect people to understand them just from general knowledge of tropes. The tropes they used had to be explained, justified and woven into the story because... well, they werent tropes then.
Hmmm
I mean, if ya dont want to watch it, dont watch it lol
But ill still recommend it cause its one of my favorite series 🤷♂️
and because Roxy is best girl
Nah I'll check it out
Roxy 👀
That's Roxy (coloring by me)
That's Eris, the tsundere
Not that different?
just a lighting thing
outside is more warm, inside its more blue
to be fair, I did base the colors more on the LN cover art tho
so its a bit higher saturation than the more realistic anime coloring
Did a bit more of a muted blue for the LN illustration
Lol yeah I think Jake did a great job justifying its greatness so you should definitely take a look
Ok finna take a look at Tanmoshi and Bocchan now that I’m fairly free
Oh screw off a double length episode
Actually that’s even better cuz the first episode of Tanmoshi is packed for sure
those new anime this season? or just ones from your "plan to watch" list?
New anime yea
Ah. Havent memorized the names of this season's shows yet lol
Hell, I just found out yesterday that a manga I am actively reading has an anime starting this season 😂 (Moonlit Fantasy)
Tanmoshi is short for
Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru
English is The Detective Is Already Dead
Title is obviously a spoiler itself lmao
But just under a minute in and they reel us in to the airplane scene
Which is where shit's about to go down
oh yeh, think I heard a vague summary of that one in one of the "upcoming anime" videos
its on my "plan to watch" list (tho not too high. Im isekai trash first and foremost)
As for Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid I'm watching it mainly because the wonky CGI reminded me of Hi Score Girl, and much to my surprise it's the same JC Staff team that did it
So basically it's a cute teasing anime like Takagi (or Nagatoro if it gets raunchy at times) but CGI graphics
LOL fair
Is slime the only big anime upcoming season or are there any other anime too?
You mean big anime in the season that's just starting?
Cause if so, Season 2 of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is arguably even bigger, and that's this season 👀
I haven't watched the first season, I'll do that then
Well, the first season is wholesome fun Kyoto Animations at its best. Its a classic 👀
Can very much recommend
Just finished tanmoshi ep 1
It feels like the whole story itself already lol
And Siesta is such a waifu
Now I cant wait for the week to pass
I’m on route to finishing Tanmoshi episode 1
I have some complaints with the direction regarding the ass pulls in the plane scene but the anime scrambled the events of the light novel
We were supposed to meet like 3 more individuals beforehand in terms of how the novel is written
In the first episode
Half is volume 1 content and half is volume 2 content apparently
This is definitely gonna be like the 86 of the season except no praise in production and all just “misguided direction” if it continues like this without any clear ups
Siesta is waifu but otherwise I’m watching “ass pulls” the anime
At least the production is better than like 3 of the whack stuff ENGI produced
Overall it’s pretty entertaining and I’d still watch till the end nonetheless lmfao
(To Your Eternity) What the hell? Not okay, anime.
Oh shieet you’re watching the end of Episode 1!
Finished it. What a great and terrible first episode. That defied many an expectation.
Great and terrible
Im not crying
You are
In all seriousness though this should be fine right
Itll get anime adaption when araki decides animating horses is easy

Easily the best part in all of JJBA
The man stuck to his morals even to the end
Even when he could have saved himself with love train
Indeed
Funny Valentine yea?
Ye
Gyro vs valentine
Valentine was a semi good person but he put others ahead of him
Which conflicts with johnny who just wanted to use the corpse for selfish reasons
Like all Jojo villains are bad argh you hate em
But Funny Valentine's motive is valid, just entirely opposite of Johnny's
Like one can pull a monke and argue that Johnny is the villain LMFAO
My favorite jojo villian is still diavolo since its clear he has mental damage
And its intesting to see basically an insane villian
Ah yeah that's fair
His insanity makes his presence worth watching
While leaving us readers/watchers fill with pain cuz he did my boi Polnareff dirty
Johnny fucked america
But at least he accidently created a sailor with 4 balls
Casually masters infinite spin thats invisible
I think Jojolion is ending soon? I still wanna know how they're gonna beat the antagonist cuz he's literally broken
Literally if you even think about him you're basically dead
Which kinda breaks all fundamentals of stand battles
Part 8 probably isn’t over till the tsurugi flash forward happens
I don’t how to spell jobins kids name
kek
Kinda find it interesting people still talk about jojo even though its been like 30 years since it started
Well
Lets exclude the reddit shit heads for a minute
That's particularly because DavidPro's adaptations boomed its popularity
Like sure there were old memes back in the day but they weren't groundbreaking compared to the good ol' to be continued... meme in the 2010s
And
HoW tHe fUcK dOeS kInG cRiMsOn wOrk
And i think kekka dake da also was but i can’t remember
Lmfao I recall that
Like is it that hard knowing his Stand ability? ||He erases time||, that's the dealio
If anything Funny Valentine's Stand reveal is actually fucking nuts and I bet the same people wouldn't be able to comprehend it. The whole setup of the scene is such a monkas moment
Wekapipo got backspaced from existence
kek
The manga was extremely confusing to people
Since the flow of time in manga isn’t a constant flow
There are some skips in it
When the ability is skipping it just feels like another pannel went by and not something super natural
Yo

Definitely in terms of manga Golden Wind's Diavolo do be confusing
But ain't the meme when the anime came out?
I thought the meme was pretty old
it just does.
The original source then got punched by GER: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0U6FAuuet9e
(somebody find the OP it's been half a decade and i wanna credit him)
Edit: I hate all of you!
Its from like 5 years ago
Finished jobless. I regret everything
Ooh
So it didn't hit that vibe check for ya innit
Cuz as said before I only read the first volume and stopped
@gritty surge gotoubun no hanayome
@gritty surge
If ur into short series
Watch
Grand blue (1szn)
Dr Stone (2szn)
Mushoku Tensei(1szn)
Fmab(64eps total)
Code Geass(somewhat 50eps)
Higehiro(anime ended it aired this year 1szn)
Vinland Saga (1szn)
Steins gate both szns :)
@gritty surge long series then start binging Fate I'll give the watchlist order
I finished Black clover in less than 3 days so fate shouldn't be a problem

Unless it has more episodes than black clover
Fate Zero
Fate Stay Night (2006)
Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works
Fate Stay Night Heavens Feels (3movies)
Nope
This is the canon order
Long... Pokemon
That's too long
Now there are more
Shin Chan
Tt
That one detective show. Case Closed
Ty*
It's a detective anime?
Hm interesting
Fate/Grand Order: First Order
Think of it as an introduction to the game, it covers the events of the Fuyuki Singularity
- Fate/Grand Order: Moonlight Lost Room
Its about a room for lost things or something I'm not really sure about this one
- F/GO: Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia
A fullblown series with 2 seasons, some of the most fluid action scenes, a super clean art style and of course, Ereshkigal, Ishtar and Quetzalcoatl.
Covering the events of the 7th Singularity, Babylonia.
Grand orders^
I'm into detective anime
Fate isn't that long
Fate zero is something you'll definitely like
C'mon ufotable made it
It's got hella waifus
Including the one in my pfp
I think Fate only matters for Fate Kaleid
||this||
Fate ubw is the only canon series I believe in
hmm
this is pretty cool
What genre tho
And how long are we talking
We need more Durarara
Been finished lol
More Baccano anime would be nice too tho, cuz we know there's more source material after the anime
lol Baccano was so weird idk what to think about it
did u watch all the seasons of Durarara?
Only first season cuz I don't feel like watching the rest rn
oh the first season was like the least interesting to me
Both are like good, Baccano had better flow in story movement and DRRR could take some time realizing how everyone else is literally connected out of convenience
Like damn the MC is suddenly the leader of The Dollars? lmfao
His friend is the leader of the Yellow Scarves? lmfao
Girl is some demonz?
....
lmfao
But very fun I still liked it quite
Obviously the previously mentioned series you should watch first then the optional imo:
-Apocrypha is a nice watch
-Last encore is dumb
-Illya is just like kinda yuri tbh and not that interesting
Are they all separate stories in the same universe?
Yeah lmao Durarara was likeeverything just somehow conveniently fit into place (s1) but still enjoyable, at least to me
well Zero, fate/stay night, UBW, and Heaven's feel are
the three optional ones I mentioned (I might be missing a few) are not canon/same universe
This is why if I ever get my hands on the VN I'm definitely gonna play that instead of watching
Or fuck it I'm just gonna go with the Tsukihime VN and not worry about Fate kekw
ooh I just saw this, you should read or watch Monster
it's pretty lenghty too
74 episodes
lol damn boutta stop reading manga ever and leave it like this cuz this is solid
Very late reply, but personally, I very much enjoyed The World God Only Knows. The manga in particular is one of my all-time favorites 👀
If you're a fan of the RomCom genre, its both a unique take on the premise, and a wonderful deconstruction of its tropes and flaws.
How is the world God only know 2
Is 1 &2 both related?
If no then which one is better?
tantei mou shindeiru looks really good so far
?
Pretty sure thats just a continuation of the first
As far as I know, all the anime are just continuations. Dont think they animated any spinoffs
Yeh, just checked.
TWGOK Seasons 1 and 2, then TWGOK:Goddesses is Season 3
Are they safe to watch on mobile?
Mobile isny usually the platform where "safety" is the issue lol
There's ads that can be a lil annoying on mobile, but they arent that persistent (I think 4anime lets you turn them off too iirc)
Man I'm about to go to sleep but I so wish someone posted a compilation of when girl's lose half their makeup in anime
I've seen too much of it and it makes me laugh so hard lmfao
...is that a common thing?
well not really but I've seen it enough times to make a compilation video
Peaceboy Riverside, highly recommended anime, its abit of an underdog but boi it doesnt hold back on the blood
Its Fantasy but its not your typical fantasy op dude with a mf harem
||Why did levi set zeke up perfectly for a suicide bomb😭||
Its a female mc thats a psychopath
Dunno, you watching the anime or reading the manga?
Im just now getting around to the last 3 episodes that came out
Morning guys, need some good isekai recommendations.
Any preferred type/tone? 👀
Oh yeah. Finished mushoku tensei yesterday. Not really my cup of tea. But I can see why people like it.
It could be a unique art style, a unique plot, unique characters, few overused tropes or formulas. Something that just couldn't blend into the isekai genre if it tried. Whatever that means to you
Hm, Re:Creators might be something that interests you. It's technically a "reverse" isekai (anime characters coming to the real world), but its a nice reversal of the premise, and has a pretty good story imo (and a killer soundtrack)
Other than that... hm, from the ones I've seen:
Ascendance of the Bookworm: "Yay, modern day knowledge! Wait... oh, the average person doesn't actually instantly have the ability to bring modern day stuff to the medival world. Guess we'll have to trial and error this shit" (+ some top tier worldbuilding)
The Devil is a Part Timer: Another "reverse" isekai, but its a classic for a reason. Some really nice comedy.
GATE: Isekai, but a modern day military is what gets isekai'd. Fun if you ever wanted to see fighter jets fight dragons.
Alright then. Will check those out
Oh hey, speaking of isekai...
@elfin needle Can't speak to quality since the first episode literally airs today, but Spirit Chronicles seems interesting 👀
From my understanding, its basically isekai, but the new guy doesn't overwrite the person they "reincarnate into", so theres two personalities in the person's head.
seems like it might be an interesting one

What's the name of it? (can't read Japanese0
Kedamono akuma no dekiai otome
The premise seems interesting but it doesn't seem translated yet so I'm just looking for first-hand impressions before I buy it.
ah, if it isnt translated yet, then probably not many people on here even able to read it lol

gojo fortnite skin
Higurashi's a classic 👀
OP
's a banger too * https://youtu.be/XgWkIrFQQE0
Alta Calidad/High Quality:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgWkIrFQQE0&fmt=18
El titulo lo dice todo
The anime Another had pretty gruesome and even creative death scenes that could probably be wtf. It's one of the iconics back then but pretty decent to say the least
Junji Ito is a pretty iconic horror mangaka tbf
So his works like the Junji Ito collection and Uzumaki should be pretty neat
But those are manga
well the collection had an anime adaptation but there's a reason why it's lower rated than the manga
cuz it ain't scary nuff
Actually though
@olive rover you've seen Perfect Blue?
That's probably my best rec if you haven't seen
Yeah watch that instead
Thanks for rec👍
np
Easy
Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju
White Album 2
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (a lot of people should know that at least)
I don't give 9s and 10s easily
Oh gurren lagann is that good?
I actually have Sakamichi no Apollon at a 10 but I can tell it had problems
I have heard of it but never saw it make top spots
Yeah Gurren Lagann goes fucking hard
Nice what's it about?
It's about two boys embarking on the outside world with their mechas
Nice
Can't say any more cuz you'll understand when you watch
Sounds shounen
It ain't
Oh
But I can understand
Yeah
I'd argue it's better than 99% of shounen lmfao
Cuz the 1% are like older shit like Yu Yu Hakusho that slaps hard and actually ends on a good note
But yeah TTGL got mad charisma and exciting fights that kept me invested all 27 episodes
And the simple catchphrases and messages are hella motivating as hell
Believe In The You Who Believes In You
I like the look of a character ok it's poster
Reminds me of ban from Nanatsu No Taizai
Kamina?
Kamina yessir
Kamina is a cuss word in my lang
If there's a role model in anime I'd choose him
Lol will be fun to watch
Lmfao which lang
Hindi
Ah
If you do give it a watch feel free to lmk
@olive rover your turn bro what're your top 3 anime
Sure
For me it's tough lol
Ahaha I feel ya
Oh yuh those ones are icons
Naruto been a little part of my childhood so I'm familiar with the plots
Demon Slayer is pretty fun too
I liked sword art online a lot but it was just the first season
So prolly black clover
Exactly lol
Ooh SAO pretty cool too
Black Clover I heard it's slow but it ramps up lotta hype later on
And I haven't even seen fmab
It's pretty slow u heard right
Haven't seen FMAB myself too 🤝
Haha nice
Yeah I heard it's hella slow and Asta is kinda annoying in the beginning
I know his glow up goes pretty hard af
ooh 7ds
Usually you see only the protagonist take care of big baddies
I heard that one's fine too if not for the animation in that particular season
But escanor does it too
Animation can be fucked up a lot ngl
Like S1 and S2 animation is fine
Especially in few scenes when they seem like chibis lol
But later on wtf is going on 😂
Ikr lmao
OOHH you've watched Higurashi series? What'd u think of it??
Havent yet actually lol (was thinking of starting it this week tho)
Just heard very good things in a few different threads, and the OP caught my eye
Gimme a week lol
also 7ds was such a disappointment to me smh
Was literally just gonna start it tomorrow 👀 (not now tho. Too late at night for horror lol)
loll
I've heard similar comments. Which is a shame, cause yhe handful of clips ive seen of earlier stuff were pretty decent
yeah their animaation just got all stiff and stuff later on, it was sad to watch
They also hit us with those too fast to see fights with sword clashing SFX lul
Spirit Chronicles kicking it off pretty well. Though it kinda seems like a better version of Isekai wa Smartphone (on character designs alone) which is clouding my judgement a bit.
Plus it's a harem but we'll see
I’m on a roll with these anime movies
Watched Josse then watched Bakamono no Ko then watched Violet Evergarden movie
BRUH
I'm watching Bakamono no Ka as we speak
Miles better than a lot of the anime movies I've watched
and I'm only 30 minutes in
I really gotta watch more of Hosoda's stuff
Ooh. Looking forward to the hot takes
Escanor is if plot armor gains a physical form
Man ||train-kun|| has an isekai role now
Goddammit man that remaining 30 minutes was weak as hell. Perhaps predictable (despite the understandable setup), not shocking, but the sentiment still lies.
But it's been a minute since I enjoyed the rest for so much. Kyuuta/Ren and Kumatetsu dynamic always kept a smile in my face and seeing Kyuuta's growth kept me smiling even more.
Summer Wars was simply amusing every second, and Bakemono no Ko was even more
Yeah I'm with you on that
