Danganronpa 1 is straight up murder mystery ofc. It’s in form of both game and anime.

Danganronpa 2 is oso murder mystery but game only.

Danganronpa 3 is thriller stuff in form of anime with 2 seasons that u must watch side by side together

Then the side game, that is just shooting games in open world with pretty fucked up storyline.

Danganronpa V3 is not even related to the the whole series but it’s oso murder mystery

If u want more murder mystery from the franchise, just bing through their fan game. Mostly on AO3 or video format but some r rlly amazing to watch.

Some of the AO3 author oso wrote some crossover between different stories and stuff them into Danganronpa setting.

True! Danganronpa anime is literally only there to lead ppl to the fandom. Just straight up find the game itself to play is better.

Danganronpa the animation atmosphere build up can’t capture the game at all, it misses details. I have to literally play THH again despite having alr watched the anime. My recommendation is that if u r unsure, just watch the anime first and if that’s the type of murder mystery u r looking for, then play the games again. Danganronpa 2 is like the best of all btw.

Talking abt Danganronpa, your turn to die oso format in the exact same way as Danganronpa with a bunch of murder mystery just different death game system. Your turn to die is a game tho. It’s on steam but the English translation is kind of free on the web. U can search it up and click onto the web to play with $0 spent. Some ppl says it’s better than Danganronpa in terms of atmosphere. Still a murder mystery regardless.

danganronpa isn't really the type of series I like playing but I watched let's plays of it and I think it's super fun

granted it relies a lot on shock value so if you already know the twists it's nowhere near as effective

personally I also really love the 999 series

it's probably my favorite visual novel series (and I actually like the gameplay of this one too, it's escape room puzzles)

its writer is friends with the danganronpa guy and he's also kinda known for writing plots that get really crazy and weird

I wouldn't say most suck. There are plenty of perfectly good anime adaptations that may or may not perfectly follow the source material. That's why they're called adaptations in the first place, so they can iterate on the story of they need too in the different format. Sometimes they take that too liberally but other times it works fine.

To me, even if the anime adaptation is good, sometimes I cant accept that they cut out a few canon events. Some anime adaptation is literally just there to promote the original source or certain things, so they always cut stuff out when necessary

It’s somewhat disrespectful towards the OG work to got cut out like that. If u watch Oshi no Ko, they addressed this exact problem when the adaptation doesn’t do the OG work justice at all

My anime watching policy has been always look for the OG work if the anime managed to impressed me right on the 1st ep for a reason.

If not it may be a waste of time watching the worse version of the story.

some shounen anime out there like KNY, JJK or AOT doesn’t encounter this adaptation problem but if u look for those less popular series like TBHK, DR or even In/Spectre, oh hell man the anime can’t capture the amazing plot at all like it’s pissed me off

I get where you're coming from, but you can't expect an anime adaptation to follow the same rules as the manga, rather I like to treat them as separate works of art
in the case of Land of the Lustrous (may the suffering end) Studio Orange completely changed the plotline between Cinnabar and Phos to suit the limited time they had to cover the story, and I think it was a brilliant move
Ig I'm trying to say that it's okay if there are changes as long as they work within the context of the story, pacing, etc, in each given medium

I think the people who dub things are starting to learn that people like parody Dubs more than just traditional dubbing.

We like it more when the EN dub tries to spin it more towards our culture than keeping the JP specific references.

Honestly my biggest problem with most Dubs isn't that they're poor quality it's just that the voices don't match my preconceived notion of what the character should sound like.

Regressor Instruction Manual: Scumbag gets sent to death world, but he aint the regressor. Instead, he has an ability that can see peoples' titles, and spots someone with the regressor title. Story focuses on him scheming and plotting to keep himself as the righr hand man of the regressor. Hilarious comedy.

MC of the Regressor series also seems to consistently attract crazies to him unwillingly (this is later revealed to be ||due to a hidden trait that specifically attracts "dangerous people" to him ||)

Meanwhile, A Stepmother's Märchen's artwork is gorgeous

It's right up there with Her Summon for the manwha with the best art imo

i'll read a manhwa or manga if i think it's really good/has a nice premise

but nothing beats the addition of masterful musicians, singers, voice actors, etc

over giving everyone the same voice, no music, barely any sound effects, and struggling to understand pacing from pictures
