TL;DR: Fischl sus, and likely far more important to the story than her silly presentation implies. Her books have ended up being the first in-game source of a lot of information confirmed later on (Ex: The sin that Irmin did, how the HP handled the Abyss in the past, the fate of the moon sisters). Interestingly, the in-game books also contain a certain prophetic ending that implies book Fischl will be key to stopping the HP upon his return.

The amount of supposedly secret/forbidden lore snuck into these was always sus to me, but in the Witch's Homework quest for Fischl this version, we find out that ||not only was the Fischl books written by a Seelie, they were adaptions of stories given to them by Nicole. And as for those stories, Nicole has this to say:||
