The fatui I’m pretty sure, is collecting the gnosis for the Tsaritsa so she can defeat the HP. In her mind, it’s good because of the shit they pulled that she felt was unjust.

So she thinks she’s doing the right thing. And many fatui members don’t even hold that much attachment to the faction.

Capitano didn’t even care about the gnosis. He wanted to help defend the Nation of Natlan as a promise he made 500 years ago. So he straight up ignored the order to retrieve the gnosis

Arlecchino was going to get the gnosis, but she stopped caring when she heard about the prophecy and about how many innocent people are about to be fucking killed. Including the children of Fontaine ( abd we know how hard she fights for them) and saved Fontaine, Childe as well.

Like she got the gnosis at the end as a gift but I don’t even think she cared bout that. And I’m tired of people saying she only saved the nation to get the gnosis, when that’s not at all yhe case. She was legit mad about the prophecy and Furina’s seemingly lack of care

I think the problem lies with the fatui as a whole

There are individuals who we can somewhat call our allies, like arlecchino and Childe, but the organization as a whole and the ways that different members have gone about doing things have been more or less questionable depending on the individual

Something like dottore, who is irredeemably evil and entirely an enemy to us. He's done unspeakable things and created horrors simply for the pleasure of it, watching people suffer through experiments

Then you have members like capitano who ended up doing seemingly no harm to anyone or anything that was deemed "good" by us after learning it'd be better to team up with the archon rather than to try and get to his goal by force. He'd been known to be chivalrous and level-headed. And, in the end, turned out to be a hero for innumerable souls and the entirety of natlan for the rest of time

But the organization, as a whole, we know has major plans and has done irrevocable harm to other regions

Like, the destruction of villages and the murders of innocent people

By various henchmen beneath various harbingers

Even though some have done good (the ones associated with capitano, for example) gave their lives for the greater good by the word of their harbinger leader

But many have gone and caused harm to civilians, children, regions as a whole, and have done so much to be banned from some (like liyue)

They're being painted as morally grey, because that's all they can be when the harbingers are doing their own thing with the power they have been given

Some will be terrible, others will be grey, and some will actually turn out to be good

The traveller is strong but not strong enough to beat Arle. Her going into her boss form whether to win or not matters not because she’s still stronger than him.
