this should help as environmentz changed how temperature worked which caused it to not act normally, when putting these in, temp should be fine again along with a handy thermometer to tell you the exact moment when you are getting too cold or hot. The the advice for dealing with temp in pins will be as per normal.

ricochet shouldn't be going towards the user, might be ideal to not be near the mobs as you are still using a ranged weapon. Also if you are killing yourself with ricochet, I highly advise that you get deflect III enchant which you should have and get luck to 50 for the evasion chance

Oh and as an fyi or for further investigation for people struggling with hot environments/the nether, currently protection against heat added by the Icepack, this is the effect where you have a lingering protection that reduces the felt affect of temperature after holding the item, continually builds up but never settles back down to 0. Consequently because of the root cause of that bug, it also does not reduce the temperature gained per tick other than its normal offset from cooling per tick.

You can test it out with the "/info protection PLAYER" command while holding an icepack a few times, then repeating with it out of hand
