with melee it is tricky. You can run to the side to avoid slam and then climb boxes to hit it as it is going up. If you have the proper enchants, you can tank the hit and hit it back a couple of times. Can climb up the right most set of boxes near it and camp that corner to try and get hits in. If going magic or ranged, very easy, just cast spells/shoot bow or crossbow

But of course, you need good damage

having at least one crit damage relic is ideal

There's also one that can spawn that really wants you to trade with it, can trade to ward off the hexblade invasion but I usually just kill them all.

Spellblades that drop in other dimensions are more powerful.

If the hexblades can't get to you, they will eventually go away. The magic effigy can be used to spawn Magus boss.

Yeah, the magic brew (enchanted) is pretty good. Although, I was overall underwhelmed by it and am curious of how exactly it is supposed to work. My max melee setup did not feel any stronger with it tbh so I'm wondering if the enchanted effect truly is not dealing true damage. This was similar to how Lich Bane from Marium's worked for a while. It dealt bonus magic damage but there was something in the code that was tagged incorrectly to where that magic damage wasn't true damage (ignoring armor). I believe this has been fixed in latest update with Marium's.

Yes, it's supposed to be like that. You can't craft these. Dungeon Difficulty mod encourages exploration for this reason.

Well, mc dungeons weapons used to show up too often so the bonus rolls with vanilla luck stat was reduced, meaning you wouldn't find them as often. There was no telling what the proper number to change to would be so this was the first change on it. But more stuff is in the works to be suggested, hopefully before v20 so don't worry about it too much.
