It happens to me too sometimes, it's like the config stays the same and errors are bound to happen. I tried to update with CurseForge and GDLauncher back then and they always gave me problems, since that, it's always been a new instance per mod version release. The problem in particular was that, for some reason, the mods folders merged instead of being completely overwritten. I tried updating yesterday to v15.5 but I don't know if the bugs/incompatibilities are happening because of the modpack or because the config files and/or mods didn't get overwritten properly.

Are both pcs in the same network?

I added a MOTD on the server, but when I find my server w the external ip, it’s not showing anything up. Just a generic “Minecraft Server” with no MOTD

I just tried this recently, I don't think you can connect to a minecraft instance on your local network with your external IP. Assuming everything is port forwarded correctly, others would need to use the hosting computers external IP as shown by a website like whatsmyip, colon the port number (ex: 77.123.1.456:25565), but on your own network you would need the hosting computers local IP (ex: 192.168.1.XXX:25565)

or if its your own computer hosting just type 'localhost'

i don’t remember it’s been a while since I hosted a modded mc server but I think I might have used my external. But I’ll try it all out tomorrow when I get home

I would just use the external ip, I didn’t add the 25565 after, only when I do the local IP is when I add the :25565
