I use modded recipes sparingly if they're not easy to learn and/or understand
And you know... There's not a lot in MMC4 to use
Create is by far the number 1 provider or recipe types
And most of the custom recipes here only have 1 or 2 slots that I can utilize
So not really much I can do about it
Yeah, it won't be like a Create-recipe. But you can get pretty crazy with it still. Imagine a recipe that needs an item made through Ars Nouveau, one through Hephaestus forge, one item through Better End furnace/ritual, one item through Wizard's Reborn etc. 😂
I guess you could even make a recipe through the Dragon Forge that isn't dragon steel.
If only we could make custom items that bundle other items together
Doesn't muon's Medieval mod add the Wayfinder Medallion? So adding items would be possible then?
I mean, if you look at basically any tech pack ever, it'll introduce you to one resource, then have you grind it out to use in making other resources, which you then use together to start getting another resource when you then grind out and it repeats forever

The thing I like about complex recipes is that it's not a boring grind but instead makes you explore parts of the modpack you would normally have little reason to invest time or resources in.
True, except that right now there is little to no reason to visit any of the modded dimensions except maybe the Aether for it's relics
Hmm, true. Players might go to the Twilight Forest because it's pretty and has some useful items as well, but the Undergarden for example... I dunno why you'd go there.
Imagine if the Eyes of Ender were scattered throughout all the dimensions or required resources from multiple dimensions instead of just the Overworld and Nether (and I believe you can find enough from just the Overworld alone)
Or if the major gear sets and upgrades required materials from those dimensions.
Right now, except for a couple of utility items there is no reason to visit the other dimensions except for extra content.
Yep. In MMC1 the eyes were quest rewards from the Twilight Forest.

For the eyes it would be easy. If you wanted to make dimensions useful for all major gear sets though... I mean, definitely possible, I just wouldn't expect that much work from you.
Btw, do you know the Wizard Samurai mod (Iron's addon)? You'd have lots of fun with its 25 slots crafting table, haha.

I'm gonna change the Ancient Reforging Table to require a Dragon Forge now
Regular Reforging Table on one end, an Ancient Material on the other end (or just an Ancient Affix item if I want to preserve the ancient cost)
Ice and Fire II looks stunning! Especially the dragon caves are much more majestic.
Don't forget how the eggs are obtained now
it does make me wonder though, what's gonna happen with the cyclops eye, medusa head, hydra heart, and other special weapons

hi, i recently decided to play MMC again, and when I booted it up, I saw that there was an update for the modpack, from v30 to v36.5
when i played on v36.5 though, i noticed the skill tree no longer contains nodes for apotheosis gems? was this an intential change or has my game bugged and defaulted to a different layout?

Sounds fair. I don't know if I've just not been exploring enough, but I currently only have 82 bottles in storage. 15k aureal would be 429 bottles. As far as I remember they are mainly found in vanilla dungeons and Apotheosis dungeon rooms, right?

The thing is its not a crash so its not going to have a crash log
Im not too sure what is crash or not. I just know it kicks me out to the starter menu.

Yeah I noticed that a lot of people were rushing the Ancient Reforging table and then just using Ancient so I'm trying to spread it out so that it's not so dominant
It's not too bad, you just need to kill a bunch of dragons which shouldn't be a problem at that stage of the game

There are recipes in JEI that show you how to upgrade. Just look at uses for the Hephaestus Forge

One thing you might consider though is preventing souls from auto-leveling. I blacklisted them on my instance because they'd have so much HP that it'd take multiple minutes to harvest a single soul.

Either they're not counted as passive or it changed since. If you want I can enable leveling again and check how much HP they have.

Hover with the arrows over your Quiver in inventory and press rightclick

Simply equip the quiver and pick up arrows from the floor. It will show the number of arrows on the left side of your hotbar.
If you want to disable Survive you'll have to disable each module individually in the \config\Survive Configs folder.
Esoteric items are currently only dropped by lvl 180 bosses, which can only be summoned after you maxed out your skill tree (150 points). The chance for them to drop an Esoteric item is 0.3% + 0.1% per level of Looting (which can be improved with the affix "Additional Loot Rolls").

The modpack already includes a bunch of optimization mods. How much RAM does your server have for how many players?
There's only three of them: Maledictus, Ignis and the Ender Guardian.

The rule of thumb is 4 GB of RAM for 1 player and 1 GB of additional RAM for every additional player. If you host it on your own PC just make sure you have enough total RAM left for client and background processes.
im doing external server hosting so I cant change the ram, is there wa way to accomadate 4 players without it lagging? it seemed to lag with 3 as well
Hmm, if you can't change the amount of RAM then the only things you could do is things like lowering the server's render distance (the shorter the render distance the less chunks are loaded simultaneously) or just make sure that players are not exploring in different directions at the same time.
sorry just saw this, howw would I change the simulation distance from 10 -> 5?6? would that help? or is it the view distance
The view distance is what is affecting RAM the most, so you can lower that in the server.properties file from 10 to 5 or so. The simulation distance is less RAM-intensive, but it wouldn't hurt to lower it from 10 to 8 maybe (also in the server.properties).

What do you find the best arrow is to use?
I must admit I haven't tested that many arrows, I have vanilla arrows in my quiver. Since I hardly ever use my bow and rely on a range spell instead.

Well, you could use a bow without infinity until the quiver is empty. But that's not quite optimal.
Obsidian arrows seem to do more damage than dragon arrows

Really? I just tested them and they did around 2k for me - even less than vanilla for some reason. Maybe affixes and stuff have some weird effects.
honestly, no ttoo sure i have the most legit testing. i just draw back full with my bow and shoot the dummy

i am playing as elf race because it gives benefit to ranged weapons...but the valkrei with wings is pretty OP

Just enchantment books - And It never showed the rapir material or am i dumb?
Early game it is a bit cumbersome, but as soon as you get some speed affixes/gems you can deal with it fairly well. And the more undead mobs you kill without dying the less of an effect they have on you (until there is no speed debuff anymore at 500 kills).

I've seen that crash a couple of times before, so far no comment from the devs. The course of action has been to remove the mod Neruina (until you crash again). If it becomes too annoying, remove Neruina and we'll see where to go from there.

Yeah there is Jade. It's the mod that tells you what block you are looking at. This is a random guess, but you could try it without that mod and see if it's any different.

That's true for most mods, but some (like Optifine for example) only change how things are displayed on the client. Those don't need to be on the server.

There is actually one broken GUI, though not mis-aligned like the others. Both in MMC4 and MMC5, the furnace upgrade in backpacks is more or less invisible. I don't know if you want or can do anything about it: #medieval-mc-forge message
Just launched the pack to double check, and there's another GUI from Wizard's Reborn that is misaligned that I didn't think of, namely the furnace. The Arcane Workbench is fine though.

So I made some significant reductions to Cooldown Reduction and generic Spell Resistance cause they were really dominating
Hey all, I keep getting crashes when the Ender Dragon spawns in (this file) or entering the Twilight Forest. It hasn't happened for any other boss or dimension I have been to (Aether + Nether so far). I had this issue on v36 and just updated to 36.5 and still am having it.

Spell Resistance is really for the upcoming Nightwarden fight more than anything (and a combination of regular and Ender will still give a bunch of resistance when combined with everything else)
Cooldown though really needed to come down but there still enough sources that I can't change that there's plenty of cooldown still
You might just have to allocate more of your build towards it

Hopefully once we eventually get the adaptable affixes in I can add varying spell resistances based on the general school type
But yeah I reduced the orbs from +5% to 1.25%
I changed the gems from ×1.15 to +5% and unique
Significantly nerfed the spell resistance affix (which again once we get the above I'll remove entirely) but allowed it to go up to Esoteric (still barely a gain though)
Removed the armor cooldown affix (no more free +120%) and moved it to spell books where you can get +20% with Esoteric
But you still have +10-20% from various spellbooks, +15% from staffs (and those will eventually get cooldown reduction too) and 2 rings of +15% each
We do the math

~78.7% cooldown reduction
Tbh I don't even know how much I have. Gotta check tomorrow to see how much of an impact that would have.
That doesn't include the skills where you get cooldown based on various spell powers
But that shouldn't have too much of an effect

Transferring Your World
If you're playing Singleplayer and want to transfer your world to your server, simply go to your modpack files and navigate to the saves folder. Inside of this folder, you will see your world saves. If your world was hosted via world sharing, this process has to be done by the person who would click "Share World".
Fixing Lag
To resolve lag issues, simply run the !tps command in #bots and follow the directions provided.

When I have an axe and I chop a log the log just shrinks. If its the log of a house or structure and it isnt vertical orientation it never breaks and it causes logs around it to act silly.

What da heck is happening
If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.
To install ATL, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "Install". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Do the same with the XaerosMinimap folder, or the Journeymap folder, to transfer over any waypoints you've created.
Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.
I mean, I suppose that happens when you delete Better Combat? Though I swear I remember deleting it before and nothing similar to that happened ever before. Eh.

has anyone gotten the ignored.json file to work in loot integrations? Im trying to remove certain items from the vanilla loot table and they still continue to spawn
To fix the pink Siren overlay you can press Esc → Mods → search for "Iceandfire" → open the config and disable the Siren shaders.
Also, since you're the only player who experiences the weird bug of not being able to break blocks, I'd consider doing a fresh install on your client. You can move map, keybinds and everything to the new instance afterwards.

How much RAM did you allocate?
We'll need some logs to help. If the client is crashing, the crash report from the client. If the server is crashing, the crash report from the server.

- For servers -> Open the folder containing your server files.
To find the „latest.log” file, navigate to the 'logs' folder.
To find the „hs_err_pid.log” file, simply look for the file name after opening the instance folder.
To find a crash report, navigate to the „crash-reports” folder and find the most recent file after your crash occurred.

Hello friends~. Me again, with a persistent "Disconnect" issue.
When I'm playing, I randomly get disconnected when playing on my friend's server with them. When I host from my own machine and they play with me, everything is fine. But when I play with them on their machine, or on their actual server, I get disconnected after like, 30ish minutes and Minecraft says the following;

Been struggling with this for about 5 days now, but I haven't had much time to get help cause I've been busy all week.
Whoever can help me fix my issues is an absolute legend.
It seems Apothic Compats is throwing a bunch of critical errors in the console. I checked for updates and there are none available for it or it's dependencies. Is it safe to remove Apothic Compats?

well idk if itll fix your disconnect issues but you should also update foolproof server side for the server getting stuck stopping
I don't have access to the server stuff, but I will let my friend know and cross my fingers in hope that it also fixes my issues. Haha

been messing with chunky as gfazo said at the beginning but no luck so i had to create a new world, load all initial chunks, then start moving to generate new chunks
It'll place a few blocks of the surface material and it'll change various properties like temperature (does water turn into ice) and mob spawns mainly
And then atmosphere
So you could do like Mushroom Island or Final Plateau which have no hostile mobs
a) Which version of MMC5 are you on?
b) How much total RAM does your PC have.
c) Sometimes it helps to limit FPS to, say, 80 instead of unlimited. That way it's less fluctuating.
latest v26, PC has a total of 16gb of ram, ill set fps limit to refresh rate then
I got mega torches (which are semi-effective). Might look for a biome with a nice atmosphere.

v26 supposedly improved world gen a lot, not sure why it's that bad for you. The only other thing I would check next time it halts or freezes is your task manager (right click on task bar) to see how much total RAM your PC is using. If it's more than 85%, lower the allocated RAM to 8 GB.

There's that one tree from Twilight Forest that changes a biome, that's a lot more than this.
Unless it's like this for their cave biomes cause they're rare y'know
minecraft makes my RAM stay at 86% utilization, a consistent 11gb of ram usage and consistent 98% CPU utilization when loading new chunks, this is with discord open so there is a little bit of room for error
Oh, hmm, perhaps. If they really want to prevent you from farming blocks or something. But since you need to find the biome to convert it into it, that's rather pointless.
interestingly enough, when not dealing with structures and just generating blank new chunks it goes pretty fast, but the moment it has to generate a structure, it starts slowing down to a crawl

i guess, cant really do anything about the cpu, since its a somewhat older intel i5 it has its own socket so there really arent many choices to upgrade to, only solution would be to get a new motherboard and new cpu but at that point its just better to get an entirely new pc

Sadly. And the modpack is pretty much optimized. MMC5 even has a mod for multi-threading, which should help significantly with chunk loading and terrain generation (since vanilla Minecraft does that on a single thread).

We don't have to use this, it would just be a fun additional way of creating custom recipes. Is it worth the trouble? Unless there's an easier way that we are missing rn, probably not.

That's true, and you can (and I think already have) include items from that biome in "normal" recipes, so there isn't much of an extra-effort here besides crafting the furnace.

hiya i just started on Medieval Minecraft Forge 1.20 - MMC4 im using curse forge first load in on my server and i was unable to pick my origin or classes so i reloaded and it let me pick my Origin but not my classes even after reloading again am i doing something wrong? also my wings are missing
So I managed to fix the server. Some mods needed updating, a few configs had typos and errors that needed fixing, and a few of the mods themselves had bugs in the code that needed to be fixed.,
Now my question, how do I disable that red X that floats on your screen whenever you die? I want it to show the map X but not on my screen as I play.
New world, just spawned in on top of this massive problem. Top is at world height limit. What happened
that structure overrode a village so it chose the only valid “safe” spawn which would be the roof
this would be in the journeymap settings, which are available from a button on the world map
there’s no separate class layer selection after origin selection, character build specialization is done through the skill tree
