It pretty much operates off of the temperature tags that people apply to their modded biomes, or that are applied to the vanilla. I'm going to assume that the biome has a lower temperature amount making it snow rather than rain

Well, with that little ram in your computer and that, you probably won't have the best of time on the forge packs on here. At the minimum, they recommend 6gb, which you should not do with only 8gb. Always leave 3gb at least for the OS. You can try the fabric versions of these packs to see if you get better performance, they recommend 5gb at least and have overall better performance for most

IF you are getting "Error encoding packet java.lang.NullPointerException: null" after randomly crashing/getting kicked remove the Restored Earth mod

There's a folder called XaeroWorldMap in the instance folder. Within that folder are folders for each server/save you have. Just copy that and put it somewhere safe before upgrading. I also copy my options.txt so it doesn't clear all my keymaps and video settings.

Alright, it's possible C is conflicting with Optifine's zoom keybind since that is C if I remember right, see if deleting your options.txt fixes it, you'll have to rebind everything and change your settings again, or if you want to edit it directly, you can go through and clear the specific keybind itself, I just don't have the time atm to go and find it, gotta run some errands now before a snow storm hits

First suggestion is confirm you have at least 6gb of ram allocated through the launcher's settings, then make sure you have magnesium in the pack as that improves performance and is only needed to be removed if you add in optifine.

Optifine increases load time by a decent bit, best to not touch anything while it's loading. I'm assuming you are talking about the loading prior to entering the main menu

For some reason, the hitboxes of slimes and baby animals are incorrect. A baby slime can hit me from the range of a fully grown slime, but I can only deal damage to it if I hit the hitbox of a baby slime. This is also the case for magma cubes. Any idea what to do about this?

The crocs make early gameplay basically an impossible death loop in survival

I’m currently in V2 which is for 1.17 (or 1.16.5?)

If you open up curse forge, there should be a way to update the modpack to the latest version. But your world won’t automatically transfer. Which shouldn’t be a problem if you only just started

1.18.1 has 3 versions, v1, v2 and v3. 1.18 has 4, v1, v2, v3, v4. and 1.17 has up to v11.5. They are listed in the order of 1.18.1 first, 1.18 second, 1.17.1 third so the first v3 that's shown is probably 1.18.1

When i try loading up the modpack it freezes on constructing mods and says not responding in task manager

First, make sure you have at least 6gb of ram allocated, maybe 5 if you only got 8gb ram total. Second, don't touch anything while it's loading. That means no alt-tabbing or clicking out of MC. Leave it to load. Third, did it pop up with some error or just a flat crash with nothing?
