Enchantment descriptions is not included, if you are on the 1.16.5 version, this jar file will work, just place it in the mods folder and scan through the enchantments in JEI, a description will show if the mod author for that enchantment included one, which most do but some don't sadly.

Rightio, I have no idea then, here's the way I went about it last time, I downloaded the JDK 17 from Oracle, installed it, uploaded the zip file of the modpack to CF, launched it and it had no issues. This time I didn't manually download JDK17 and let the launchers download it for me, worked again

Well, luckily for you, its really easy! Have you downloaded the modpack off of a launcher? Like Curseforge or GDLauncher?

Alrighty, curseforge should auto detect that, make sure you are in their minecraft section. They'll have a tab at the top right saying "Browse Modpacks". If you click on that, it'll bring you to the modpack search screen in which you can find all the modpacks upload to CF's database, including the packs in this server. Once you find one that seems interesting, click the install button on the right, and it will automatically install it for you. It has a search bar on top too in which you can search for a modpack specifically, like say you wanted to find better mc 1.16.5, you can type in "better" and it will be the first option.
After you have installed a modpack, you need to make sure you have allocated the correct ram amount for it, the modpack should say it on their description page which you can access by clicking on the modpack directly, for the case of Better mc 1.16.5 it is 6gb. In order to do that, you need to follow these instructions:
- Select the modpack on the My Modpacks screen, but don't press play.
- Hit the 3 dots (just left of the play button), select profile options (second category, towards the bottom of it)
- Under memory settings, uncheck the system memory settings option
- Change the slider to the required ram in mb, remeber 1024 mb per 1 gb. If you need 6gb, that is 6 * 1024 = 6144, so slide the slider in that general amount.
Important: Keep in mind your total ram in your computer, you should always keep at least 3gb unallocated for the OS, for example if I had 8gb total, I wouldn't allocate more than 5gb.

Most likely, I've seen plenty of people talk about issues with OF, and considering 1.18 is a fresh release, I'm sure there's plenty of issues since mod authors don't work around OF as a constraint

Yeah, OF is nice for having everything in one, but its downside is being closed source due to having some of Mojang's code I believe, so mod authors have to try their best to work around issues while others don't even bother.

Fabric has more people updating to 1.18 immediately compared to forge it seems, which makes sense, the general trend it seemed was always Fabric having more consistent updates to the post 1.16.5 versions compared to forge. Hopefully more forge mods move to 1.18 soon though.

Hey I tried this and it worked (forge ver 1.17, deleted twilight forest), but when i quit the game and launch it again it crashes with this error. I don't have magnesium in the mods folder and the only solution that's worked so far is completely re-isntalling the pack everytime i re-launch. any suggestions?

Wellll, BMC 1.16.5 has more content than 1.18, it's not a 100% identical pack atm, also 1.18 officially includes the world height changes and biome stuff changes so may have issues there
So overall, best to do a new world on 1.18 or stick to 1.16.5 for your current world

Well, the sad part about LAN and modpacks is that the issue can be hard to figure out, I don't quite know of what fix it it specifically talking about so I can't help there either.
The general rule of thumb is that larger modpacks will have LAN issues of some sort, in this case the more extreme variety

That's weird, it's still the same old mc launcher and mc account, so it should show, all curseforge does is essentially setup the profile for you

Before clicking the big play button on the launcher, go to the skins section at the top right, does that show your mc skin?
Also as a note, it's the same as when you launch from minecraft's .exe since it's the same launcher. If not, you might want to make sure mojang has the correct skin for your account

Hi, i'm trying to play better minecraft for the first time, but it wont open, i'm using 1.17.1 with optifine, and i removed the twilight forest mod, but it keeps crashing, i can't even open the loading screen, any ideas?

So i bought a server from empowered and i copy the mods to their mods folder but when i try to start the server there is an issue

They probably did something wrong, I haven't heard of one where you simply drag mods over and you have your server set up, considering configs and such are there too and specific versions of forge/fabric, it's why I told them to contact their server host support, easiest way to learn how to correctly install a modpack on a service

Well, to add in shader packs you need to install optifine and uninstall magnesium

Typically it's best to completely remove a mod instead of disabling, sometimes the system doesn't handle disabled stuff well and still uses it

Uhh sorry to but in, but since I see you guys active I was thinking it would be faster to ask instead of searching the previous messages. I'm trying to play the 1.18 versions (tried both Forge and Fabric, using gdlauncher) and they dont work, it crashes before it even starts the client.

Is this on the beta of gdl? Java 17 isn't automatically supported by gdl unless on the beta from what I remember

Hmmm it may not be the beta version then.

Also I remember an issue with GDL when it came to how it installs forge for 1.18 so you might have to use curseforge instead
I was able to get both packs working without issue on cf, but had issues on gdl for the forge 1.18 version. They messed up the handling of forge itself

For mine colonies? Yes, there should be an option for them to deconstruct so you can pick it up and move it to a new location at the same level.

I'm guessing you are trying to connect to a server? That pretty much means the client and server do not have the same mods
