1.19.2 is here too and you cannot transfer worlds or anything, so you'll have to start again regardless

you have to be pretty specific

if you were playing 1.16.5, it's still also being updated. if you want to stay on this version you'll have to specify which modpack version of 1.16 you last played, or at least an estimate

otherwise there is the 1.18.2 and 1.19.2 modpacks as well

as it's been over two years since 1.16 major official version until now (1.19.2)

if you need to brush up on what has changed with minecraft officially, i would recommend the wiki

1.17 + 1.18 were Cliff and Caves major content update. and 1.19 was The Wilds/Deep Dark major content update.

as far as mods go? legit still hard to tell you what mods have changed from then till now since you've failed to specify any sort of specific modpack version, so please utilize modpackindex and the mod lists to find out what you're familiar with and what is new

There's several crucial mods for increased performance which are already included in all Luna Pixel Studio's modpacks. They should only be downloaded from Modrinth, Curseforge, or Github:
1. Rubidium - Sodium port for Forge. Magnesium is an alternative to this, but it's no longer maintained and doesn't support Oculus.
2. Oculus - Iris port for Forge. Allows for shaders without Optifine. Requires Rubidium.

4. Entity Culling - Prevents mobs that are behind walls from rendering.
