we are no where close to actually being able to simulate actual space travel as to be honest fuel burn would be acceleration / deceleration only with minor bursts needed to maintain speed/trajectory due to gravity wells
I have not used the SLY automation tool... as I use a ledger... but was going to fire it up.. I hate that my original wallet since the beginning wont get the XP though...

Yeah I used a burner during labs but made some big purchases after that and didn't want to have it on a burner anymore. Fly is a lifesaver
absolutely! I (unfortunately) got in early and went big... so way underwater.. and way to much investment to not use a ledger... This changes the whole thing for me now...

once the stuff on the titans gets finalized (1 more to go last I checked) then they should be in a position to give us an update on the runway status as well as how confidant they are that they will be able to hire someone and retain them for the dev cycle
you need to remember going rate for software devs in bc is quite high per year (like 6 figures) so even a small team for the dao will increase the monthly burn rate by a lot

Is the sdu drop rate really lousy right now?

From what I have seen a lot of SDU drop.. the complaints are around the fact that with them more accessible the price/ROI will drop from where it was.. in fairness though it is a good change... the SDU thing was way out of wack... and now we will have a better balanced econ with more econ levers...
Folks who milked the SDU thing got a great deal for being early...
SDU drops vary based on where you are scanning.. move to the HRZ... try to find an unoccupied spot...
Use the Eveeye map to see where other ships are on the map so you dont have to compete with other ships scanning in the same spot..

Then you are in a tough spot unfortunately, and have to go "old school" ie. move around the HRZ til you find a spot with a better drop rate...

spots regen faster now apparently, so try sitting in a spot for a bit to see if the numbers improve.. you will eventually see a pattern/ceiling for the spot.. if it is still to low, try hunting another spot.

I was trying that in 1 spot just now. It's pathetic with increments so minute that 7 or so scans raised the percentage from 3% to 4%...

I hope it's a mistake. Because at these prices manufacturing Field Stabilazer is practically impossible. Even though it is an inferior component to Particle Accelerator. Its manufacturing costs 100 times as much in fees as Atlas. However, Aerogel also has the same problem. The cost of the fees is absurd.
To make 1M Field Stabilizer costs you 350K Atlas😅 😅 😅 😂 😱

As the manufacturing price depends on the market price in the last n days, for new markets one should pad that sequence with a trailing number of 0's.
And/or, alternatively (if this is not already the case), this could be changed into the average trading price in the last n days, which means that only actual transactions are considered, not just MP listings.

but what you said is true and it brings me more questions: even if the price depends on actual transactions in the last n days, if they don't pad the sequence of daily prices with trailing 0s to soften the impact of sudden changes during price discovery, then what prevents me from buying from myself say 1 Field Stabilizer for a ridiculously high price just to screw the calc for everybody in the following n days? I'd lose some fees, sure, but it could be worth it if I'm troll enough.
This is of course just for the initial days of a new market pair.
Edit: I now seem to remember that the avg is weighted. That doesn't solve the issue though, it just raises the bar of how much a troll you need to be.

btw, I can confirm that this is indeed not the case. You have to have the base supplied with food in order to collect the completed craft. I have raised this up in FR as it seems abit dumb IMO, unless they can explain why it has to be that way for a sensible reason.

There are 2 games. The free game can be downloaded in the Epic game store. That is where the Surge event will be taking place and is built in UE5.
The other game is web based and is P2E...that requires ships to play.

Its honestly stupid that u cant craft Fuel in CSS without the food. U gotta spend fuel to transport the hydrogen to other bases to craft to get fuel. It just makes logistics more expensive and complicated for no reason.

Hey! Depends on which version, at this time we have the Star Atlas UE5 first private version, is on the Epic Games Store and is currently on release 2.1.9. In this release, all ships are flyable, even in their clay model phase. To play the game you need a key to redeem in Epic's store, which you get by having a ship in stake for 7 days, but if you don't have it we can offer you a key. Other features currently in-game include: timed race courses, flight combat training, multiplayer testing, and an experimental mode that lets players view levels and characters that are still in development.
For Star Atlas 2.2, the major feature update coming will be combat racing. Compete against 7 other racers in a racing death match to see who's really the best pilot in Galia. Coming alongside this major update is progression, new characters, increased customization and more! (you don't need to buy a ship or anything specific for this version, there are test ships and modes where you don't need anything)

If you think about it, Star Atlas is just a business, there is no incentive for them to make your life easier, so that you earn more money from them, its actually the opposite. Their job is to create problems, and players solve these problems for free, its actually a genius strategy. They don’t have to pay more money for development since freelance programmers do it for them anyway.
They made harder crafting because there is going to be a massive crew airdrop, which will compensate. They made food shortages, so you buy cargo ships, oh yeah the latest shipit. They made unprofitable sdu scanning, so you finally notice and invest into data runners, and what do you know? SDU Problem created, solution? Fymbol Ranger!!!

Current quest: Trying to upgrade the starbases so we can test the economy of the game when there is no combat.
After teams gather enough data for stable economy loops and balance things out we will have combat in game.
For now - making a supply route, upgrading starbases and coordinating within your faction is the main quest
I might be a bit biased because I am in Ustur faction, so I will advice you to join Ustur faction.
Keep in mind that the current release of the game it does matter which faction you choose. And also you will want to stick with your account because you can start accumulating XP points that you will be able to use at later stages in game ( when professions/licenses are introduced )
Typically the 3 main factions will have some advantages in manufacturing once the game evolves to that stage. For example Ustur is expected to have easier access to manufacturing better Hull reinforcements and Maneuvering thrusters while Mud better warp drives and weapons.
Aside from that we currently have Atlas emissions in game for each faction and those emissions distributed based on LP ( loyalty points ) contribution to your own faction. The faction that is more coordinated is expected to have better rewards, but keep in mind that this gameplay was released recently and it is still being balanced.

Yeah, it is a business decision if you want to make SAGE accessible for small players. Seems like the game is not ready for that yet and the focus is to fund the development by drawing as much large players as possible and keep the current large players reinvest as much as possible into the game.
I also respect that strategy. In the meantime as a small player I am allowed to have early access to the game, scale some XP, have a small return of my investment. Not so bad if you ask me, still at some point there will need to be something that will bring the average web2 gamer in the space. For now it seems that this is not the focus of SAGE and that goal would be achieved trough other means like Surge or Mobile Companion App.
However I need to point that gaining knowledge on how to play SAGE might be very important for a small player if he decides to invest more into the game later, so onboarding of small players should not be neglected.

you know what grinds my gears? you can get charged 3 cents for one SDU scan and it can fail. Its the only mechanic where your money just goes in the trash.

The Scanning Mechaninc needs to be like mining. only you set a destination and you continually scan while you are subwarping. It just have a predicted outcome and have one charge and 1 click. The current methods is ridiculous.
Well I'd say pick the one you like the aesthetics of the most, that said you can fly any ship and play as any race of avatar within any faction. Your pearce ships can have punnab crew and be in the Ustur faction, for example.
I was hoping for scanning to be a continuous process in the current release too, but I guess we will have to work with what we got here. Longer cooldowns, longer regen time and larger fleet compositions help with reducing the tx spam a bit but it is now operation that seems to be focused more on larger players and I think more balancing should be made to make it fair
not exactly, larger players are still going to benefit more from doing other stuff with their fleets by the time things get sorted out
continuous process scanning with set amount and the variable can come in the future with whether or not you found a ship or component blueprint and that number maybe goes up the futher out you go for scanning

For now it does not feel like I am getting value if I have 10x airbikes scanning because price of SDU dropped a lot and might continue to drop even more and I might not be able to cover tx fees and fuel cost. I will maybe need to fill up a whole fleet with airbikes. So if you are a small player and want to grind the dataminer xp it seems you might have more cost than profit.

i just calculated it manually. there is also an in game timer. so no big deal

wow, your being dense for no reason, fuel costs are because your flying into the center of the map to try to get the windfalls - thats no longer a mechanic, tx cost issues are due to having multiple fleets, combining to 1 fleet reduces that - this is not rocket science
so don't go further out then you need to to have a sector to yourself and combine your fleets into a single fleet and boom your issues are now mostly resolved
this can all be deduced from the patch notes, your trying to overthink it
with RFR gone sdu prices are going to be down bad though so you might still not profit

Ok, sry, I am really a bit more dense those last couple of weeks than normal. Still I will need more time to figure things out. I base my opinion on testing, statistics and data. Patch notes and ship stats are not enough for me. I will need a week or two to figure things out before I can really have a data driven opinion on this matter

sdus will likely end up being put into stations for a loss via lp ie its going to be whales buying them to finish the upgrades

at least ive got more crew for crafting now
scanning mechanics have changed alot, you are wasting alot of potential using that huge ship for scanning, considering there is a fluctuating SDU density in each sector that seems to be directly pegged to the success chance. having many smaller fleets scanning is still very much the meta. although XXS ships are much less efficient now compared to before. With my limited data analyzing, and seeing how many max SDUs you could be scanning with that fleet, I would only be scanning with that fleet in sectors that are upwards of 95% success chance (I don't even know if this exists), in order to maximize the potential earnings.
I just scanned in Based for the 1st time with my whole fleet as one. 1 med, 1 sm, 2 x-sm, 85 xx-sm. Only used 383 food
honestly I don't think the % despalyed is accurate
It's not worth scanning with anything cept scanners atm

Yeah they are I'd expect it do do better if things were working like I thought it would in the sheet, but they aren't was expecting to wake up to 80k sdu's and not 800🤣. How would the tankship be able to avoid what happened with my fleet

troubleshooting steps I would try would be:
- make sure you deleted and made a fresh copy of the code brand new (delete any old versions)
- make sure to refresh the browser page and clear cache
- if that doesn't help try restarting browser (can try on a different browser as well)
- if no good, restart computer
yea i mean active like moving. I also think that the % might not mean as much. You could have a really low percentage tile but it be full if that makes sense
we still have no idea how the new SDU system really works though
you need roughly 5k crew to make 10m electronics per day. thats with 20 hours of crafting/starbase upgrades. you can squeeze crew down a bit if you can manage 24 hours of uptime.

it's kind of obvious that the density is pegged to the success chance, my observation leads me to believe it is a 1:10 peg, so if success chance is 10%, then the density of the sector is 100 SDUs. no more multipliers on SDU scans
so smaller fleets are still very much the meta, and yes, data runner ships are prime, which is the way it should be

my expectation was to be able to commit field stabilizers as soon as possible
well oni decided to push to t2 and your chosing to try to upgrade a t2 while the new resources have yet to be liquid on the market, thats your decision as a faction it also means your the ones getting burnt by the lack of liquidity, these are known rules that have been set up
especially since they reduced SCORE Atlas payouts
that's why I commited all my resources to gather the mats for the stabilizers and now I have punch of mats that are pretty much useless at this point
and again you knew that the crafting fee would be out of whack when you stared to do it because your the first to actually craft to upgrade and not speculate

I have taken some risks to time the market in the past and sometimes it has not worked out. That is how things work. You planned ahead on some assumptions and it was not perfect. Eventualy you will benefit because those resources will be there for you.

Create an order on marketplace, for the same ship type, for 1 Atlas. Just to create the rental accounts again. Then cancel the order, and try to take it out again from Faction Fleet. This fixes the issue for most people. 🙏

so i tried just in 1 minute and this was the outcome , docking 0,88 euro , transfering ore 0,77 euro , disbanding fleet 0,77 euro , crafting ( 40.000 Graphene ) 1,01 euro , 40 K graphene on market to sell immidiately brings 164 Atlas equals 0,76 euro so why the fuck should i do it ?! ..

I had issues too with Solflare + ledger
You can connect the Ledger with Phantom, same wallet address.
lol I have both brave and chrome set up with the ability to use phantom or solflare on both as needed

Don't be offended, but, at your fleet size, sell it for Atlas in marketplace. And then buy what you need to keep going.
Crafting requires more ships, dedicated to crafting.
It's great to explore other possibilities, but they will increase in complexity, and also assets needed to do it efficiently.
if he's not automating, he could have his fleet craft fuel overnight while he sleeps - it's what i used to do before sly so at least my guys wouldn't be idle

you'd just need to disband your fleet so that the crew is available to craft in operations. the tricky part like Lerinor said is that food needs to be in the CSS for your crafters to continue so they may stop crafting at some point overnight
might be better to check out sly tool so you can just mine 24/7 for awhile
it's actually better now, at least for Oni. People actually collaborate to commit food
yeah, i think mud might be going 24/7 as well but in increments of about an hour or two so i'm not sure if it lasts during the time i'm asleep or not
