Haha, so basically to make ship/item redemption (Not crafting of components) you need Survey Data Units as in the example bellow. to redeem that ship.

Ship tiers have different scan results. so XXS ships can get 1 SDU per scan. Fleets can get max 10 per scan (Unless you hit a rare spot where you can get up to 100 every now and then)

So my scan fleets look like : 8 Airbikes, 1 MaxHog/Pearce X5.
the airbikes is just to have cheap crew to scan, and the Hog/X5 is to get extra cargo of toolkits

Scanning consumes about 10 tools p/ship p/scan. and then uses fuel naturally.

Mining consumes different levels of AMMO, depending on what resource and hardness you're mining

I've gotten 20 SDUs in one scan several times with a fleet of 10 Pearce X4s! That's why I'm wondering if things have changed.

Occasionally you will x2, x3, x4 and x10. Those are lucky hits. Enjoy those.

x10 gives 100 SDU for that hit
