Super-liberal study abroad policies (I think you can study abroad from sophomore year on; you also can do more than one study abroad program if you so wish, which is pretty unique).

Mandatory senior thesis helpful if you'd like to go to grad school

Personally, I really like the way they've set up their "core"/distributional requirements - a major-related writing component every year and an emphasis on exploration that still gives you a lot of freedom to focus on your interests - though obviously your opinions may be different

For what it's worth, I also found their admissions staff really, really nice - my own AO was really willing to give detailed responses to my questions (and even connect me to faculty members), while the one who contacted me to let me off their waitlist seemed pretty friendly and extremely patient with my incoherence

Parent here HWCs are the BEST. Yes I’m biased bc I went to one. It was the right choice for me. It gave me the space I needed to give myself permission to use my voice. And here’s the thing you hear all about alumni network of schools and how that is important down the road. But with an HWC your network isn’t just that school you went to. It is all of them. Bc there is something intangible that happens at an HWC that crosses boundaries of school rivalry after graduation. You all know you had similar experiences and you help each other. When I move states one of the first things I do is find the HWC alumni group in that area. I even found my current job on the Women’s College Alumni Network. I am older than google so in my naivety I didn’t even comprehend that I was going to an HWC until I got on campus. A senior told me something my freshman year ‘if you stay here all 4 years you will like the woman you are when you leave’ and no truer words were ever spoken. We’re there lots of LGBTQIA individuals (back before it was ok). Yeah. But am I a better person for the education and environment that made a safe space for anyone there to be who they are…oh yeah. Go to the best school FOR YOU and it will help you grow past and better than you ever thought you could be.
