💀
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an abg before but like yesterday was a treasure trove
Berkeley is nothing compared to Irvine and some of the others lmaoo
They don’t call UCI university of Chinese immigration for nothing
well id be assuming i could take a few grad level courses later on
depending on how smart.i am
community environment etc
relationships w profs
but at the same time i dont think im smart enought to compete w the best there 😭
well the fact that you got into both rice and berkely is enoguh to show that you are extremely capable
berkeley defintley does not have an open nor flexible enrollment option if youre looking for that
and i can easily double major in anything at rice
even if its not in the same college
same can't be said for berkeley...
im just not an incredibly stemmy person
so to compete with those types
i might be a little behind
yeahhh thats one of the reasons why im consdierng berkeley for grad or law school instead
whats ur major
exactly
and ive heard it can be a lil more grad focused
but idk
applied math for both
and i can do math above average
but im not a very stemmy person as who i am
if yk what i mean
yeah me neither
but i think as long as you take the time to learn
cuz u have great potential
https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/1jsz6hz/uc_berkeley_coincidence/ also did this happen to anyone too
i was rejected from ucla and uci, waitlisted from ucsb and ucsd so i was totally shocked when i got accepted
Let’s trade
can someone tell me how ap credits transfer
i have like a TON of ap exams that meet the berkeley ap credits
how does it work
lol thank you
what are you majoring in?
nah i also got into ucsd and uci both first choice major/college
maybe this is for in state 😭 ? im oos so
did you commit
do you have access to calcentral
yes
do you have access to the academic progress report
https://lsadvising.berkeley.edu/degree-requirements go to this website and scroll through the different requirements
it'll tell you if you can waive stuff w ap
and then do the same thing for your major
is there anyone here who has NOT found a roommate yet?
bro istg the vast majority of people i've chatted with on insta already have roommates
keep looking! if you follow a lot of berkeley people off the co'29 pages you'll get more in your recommended who haven't posted there. thats how my roommate found me even though i never posted on any of the pages!
yup i do follow a lot of people from those pages! it's just that some of them don't follow me back, some of the ones that do don't message me back, and with the remaining it fizzles out
i'll keep trying but i think i might have to go random then
i know what you mean, its a hard process
hopefully it works out for you but i know people who've gone random and ended up being best friends so not a bad choice!
nah i haven’t either
i haven’t really been looking
Me either I might just do random
Hey yall
I currently found a roommate but if you’re interested in doing a CK triple dm me
We’re looking for a 3rd
We plan ranking the following
Ck triple +
Ck triple
Unit 1 triple
Unit 2 triple
Any
Guys I’m just curious what’s the point of finding roommate earlier?
Isn’t random person on discord equally random as randomly distributed
They prob gonna talk to the person on disc to see if they’d be good roommates
Damn good luck
has anyone gotten appeal decision
Twin sisters both IN!! one for ChemE and other other Political Economics. 🙌🏻
congrats!!
We don’t want a stinky roommate
@dreamy arrow im curious what's ur math major pathway looking like at cal rn?
I’ve taken grad analysis I, grad algebra, diff top, alg top, and currently im taking grad analysis II, grad compelx analysis, riemannian geometry, commutative algebra
berkeley is very laid back with skipping classes and doesnt enforce prereqs so its very nice

Question...
is it easier to go from cc into eecs or cdss?
ping me if yk
oh that's super cool. Apparently, UT's math dept is also supposed to be very chill with enforcing prereqs, but the CNS (college of nat sci) pressured them and recently they began enforcing prereqs for upper div math classes.
is your whole schedule math classes? at least for me im balancing between CS cores and math UDs/grad classes for the first 2 years
F1: Real Analysis I, Abstract Algebra I -> S1: Topology I, Probability I -> F2: Grad Alg 1, Grad Alg Topo -> S2: Grad Complex Anly, Grad Diff Topo, Grad Alg 2 -> F3: Grad Real Anly
those are all the PhD prelim classes
Yeah, I’ve had a GE class in each semester but besides that only math
Yeah your schedule seems reasonable
por favor
I have no clue but if i had to guess eecs would be easier than cdss cs
yeah probably eecs
dang i remember EECS used to be way more competitive back when my cousin was applying for college
(7 ish years ago)
how competitive is cdss
how hard is it really to transfer from lns to cdss
whats the percentage
how tough it is it to transfer from ds to cs or coe or double major in cs
i needa do one of those 3
also for rooming
it says "Your roommate group has been verified."
what does that mean
does it mean its all set or what
nearly impossible
double majoring is the only possible one out of those three
but i heard they stopped that after this year
but im not sure
maybe they didnt
does submitting housing application earlier help?
or does it not matter as long as its before deadline?
it shifted to comprehensive review
but theres no data on it cuz its their first year doing it
im not sure if i should take berkeley ds or go to cmu dietrich bc u can guaranteed get a cs double major as long as u mantain a 3.0 there
im leaning berkeley rn but i might be shooting myself in the foot
if ur dead set on cs i would do cmu
Successfully convinced someone to commit to the number 1 university instead of this school 🔥
Jk y’all r awesome
the b in berkeley stands for aura
The B in Berkeley stands for B aka number 2
ucLa
ucWa
university of california washington 🙏
ruby where were u waitlisted on ivy day :0
When appeal decisions
Dartmouth Berkeley and Duke
I also did not apply to all ivies
Real
everyone knows the best school is UC Hicago 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🔥🔥🔥
Should have committed there 😔
guys if i drop my physics C would i get rescinded
it doesnt affect my graduation status
this
coe transfer should be fine, not eecs though
how tough is it for non eecs? n whats the process
not too sure will depend on major, search up berkeley coe transfer
think its just gpa + prereqs?
would they allow me to double major in IEOR and EECS?
currently waitlisted for IEOR and my plan was to double major in IEOR and EECS
i saw like tons of ppl on linkedin doing that combo
uhhhhhh i think so
you can transfer into coe fr?
yeah
i thought that would be like impossible
Same can u please elaborate 😭
Once you’re in coe can’t you transfer to EECs?
you can only transfer into eecs if it's your first transfer
Admission to Berkeley Engineering via a change of college application is highly unlikely and very competitive.
hard not impossible
but don't bank on it
Ohh
Guys isn’t it so dumb that digital sat isn’t recognized for the ELWR
When the normal is?
Old* one
Objectively the new short reading passages are dogshit while the old long reading passages are prolly more indicative of english mastery
But it’s not like we have the choice which to do
well uc berkeley doesn't take sat iirc
If I got out of the ucla waitlist how probable is it that I get off Berkeley?
The real question is why is Berkeley acceptance rate higher than ucla
admissions are independent
because ucla is better
💀💀💀
its true
Aren’t like most people convinced Berkeley is better at every subject except med
no to get out of the writing assessment i think
some people might not apply to berkeley because of the reputation that it is really hard academically and stuff
ucla has more of a “fun” vibe to it
but there’s plenty of majors at berkeley that have much lower acceptance rates than ucla
I’d choose UCLA for an arts degree
😶🌫️
A
real
im polisci i got into both and id pick ucla
but berkeley stem might be unmatched
berkeley also has a really strong activism culture if that appeals to you
im also polsci and i picked berkeley bc i wanted a stem + soc sci interdisciplinary education
when is berkeley appeal coming out
Not anytime soon
ping
this is true as well tbh
yeah comes down to what you want
yeah i mean i love berkeley it was my dream school for a solid three years
UCLA does too I didn’t realize how big it was till I came here
is there a difference between unit 1 and unit 2?
thanks
Roommate Survey time
- Are you still looking for a roommate (if yes but not at Berkeley where at)
- If yes, would you consider rooming with someone you met off A2C
Workings of It
You would likely make a forum post in a dedicated forum channel similar to #954425230896545792 with a bit about yourself. Personal info rules of the server would still apply, so you couldn’t post your igs or photos of yourself in this forum, but you’d be free to send them out to those you’re possibly interested in rooming with in DMs. Similar to other sites, A2C would also not be responsible for how well your roommate matching goes. We’d also recommend you ask for proof of someone attending the school you’re going to so you can make sure they’re legit, but just like those roommate matching ig pages, that responsibility would fall fully on you
<@&798036634129530890> <@&786570626990866453>
I am asking here bc there seems to be a lot of you
honestly yes to both
yes/depends
can i make multiple groups for berkeley housing
like a group for a person id want to do a double with for my first choice
Elaborate on the depends
and another group for a 2nd choice for a triple
actually
I'd consider it yeah
the same as id consider anyone else
Not actively looking for a roommate, but I'd consider the thought of rooming with an A2C member (as long as they're not @fathom oracle)
yes to both!
ucla^
Fine with me I don't like living with children
yes to both
Yes to both! USC
not actively looking but i wouldn't mind (ucsd)
I'm your favorite child though (pause)
yes i'm still looking for a roommate
i might room with someone from A2C depending on their interests and major
might go random tho idk
oh yes to both as well, this roommate finding business is hard. (not for berk but usc)
which dorms did you apply for?
I did mostly traditional residential halls!
birnkrant
pardee
marks
mccarthy
webb
yes to both but northwestern
this seems like a good idea, would it be one big forum or multiple forums separated by college?
College wouldn’t be possible bc there are so many and I can’t count the interest rate of each one beforehand
I need to discuss more w team but it’d likely be single forum where you’d put school name in title
So then people can search bar it
oh makes sense
And then maybe we’d have a few tags for more universal stuff
i was worried that colleges would be drowned out, but if you can filter specifically for a college that would work
Idk if you’ve ever searched for threads in this channel but it’d just be like that
So it’s a bit wonky in terms of how you need to type a full word for it to show
icic
Okay I’m doubting my commitment
I love Berkeley
but
Bio pre med
but ucla won’t let me minor in art like I want
And Berkeley is cheaper
but grade deflation
meow
what major did you get in for
a lot of premeds do rausser
I’m microbio
So letters and sciences
Berkeley gave me solidly 10k more plus work study of 5k
but they don’t have guaranteed housing
ahh
would you consider switching to rausser
and have you talked to people in microbio
this is a huge W
true but most people are able to find housing pretty easily if you start early + have a good roommate group and know what you're looking for
also almost everybody i know who applied got a housing offer from the university, even though a lot of people ended up turning it down due to finding off campus housing
Okay good to know
I don’t know if I’ll be stunted from being in la for college as well as for high school
But lowkey scared of Berkeley I hear bad things about competition and premed
and how much free time I would have
How hard is it to get in to a co-op housing group
Yes if I’m able
Berkeley I applied to on a whim so I did not fully figure out major pros and cons
then it became a dream school and then it became logically a worse option and then it was cheaper
so real
would not rec co-ops i've heard the housing conditions are baaaaaad
i think its what you make of it! can definitely find all kinds of people here but thats true of every college so
also depends on your own schedule/commitments
Ngl, I mean depends on what. I thought of that but there’s a lot of resources. They gave out mcat books for free today and, there’s a lot of clubs willing to help you grow
username
emphasis on question mark
leaning usafa rn tho bc i want grad school at an ivy as a goal
#954425230896545792
Any movement
guys im fine if im cancelling one ap exam right
i was planning to self study it but ended up not...what should i say on the update form LOL (or is it safer to just take it and bomb??)
also is there a transfer table for non california colleges
i dont think they care
is this happening for anyone else..
is that the portal
Did a housing offer drop today? If so that usually happens
BRO it was like that yesterday too
the housing portal lowkey sucks
todays the housing deadline
Ah-
yeah i couldnt get in for like 3 days so i just did it in school where there was less traffic
when do housing offers usually come out?
i dont understand berkeley's Entry Level Writing Evaluation evaluation
Do i need an A in a college course or can i just be a school course
cuz i took AP lang and got an A
but i didnt take the test
has to be a college course
wondering the same thing
maybe u can pass thru sat score if u have one?
I have a 710 but it’s digital 😭
I don’t think they take digital
ohhh yeah true
guys apparently someone got off WL 👀 i saw a TikTok where they said they got off
idk if sending the link is doxxing/against the rules but feel free to DM me for the link
did u score high on the ap lang test
College course or 3 on test
They didn’t take it
IB language A is accepted I think
does it matter if i flop my ap tests?
is anyone able to help me kinda plan my courseload(especially for the math courses)? Microbial biology major on a premed track btw! I have no idea which major requirements i can skip with AP credit and if I can even skip any ;-;
Avoid skipping any med school recs (I.e. bio, chem, etc) unless you’re taking upper div classes in that subject
asking this too
If you did well on the AP courses/exam, went to a good high school that taught the subject, and the class is not notorious for deflation (you will have to rely on word of mouth from upperclassmen), you should not skip any premed prereqs. You really won't be saving any time as a premed by skipping, and you will want to boost your sGPA and cGPA as much as possible for the AMCAS application. However, of all the STEM classes that you can skip, math is most skippable if needed (i.e. your school's math class is heavily deflated). Many medical schools do not have math as a hard prereq, and of those that do, you can usually apply anyways. There have been many students in the past that have gone straight through (applied junior summer) with AP credits in math, been provisionally accepted to a school that requires math, and were simply asked to take a math class their senior year. However, if you can just take it at your school or at a nearby easier four year during the summer or even during the school year, that would be the best.
as a side note, try to avoid taking too many of the core prereqs all at once if you can. While getting a bad grade in a core like genchem or orgo is not the end of the world, you should try to set yourself up for success and take them one at a time in succession. In particular, the chemistry pathway should probably be taken one at a time. I would personally avoid taking biochem and orgo in the same semester/quarter. However, this is school dependent, and I don't/didn't go to Cal, just take my words as general advice.
thank you so much for your replies!!!
wait is orgo not a prereq for biochem
It might be at Cal, I don't know. At many universities, it is not. I have seen some students take orgo and biochem concurrently in order to rush straight through to medical school. It rarely makes for a better application, but many people have different priorities and that's okay.
yeah that seems like it would not end well
even i dont have to do that as a chem major gobbless
i just called the admission soffice
The waitlist process has not started yet, and no one has been taken off yet. The AO said they will definitely go to the waitlist though, but he said there’s a guaranteed response by August 1st, and they take people off in waves. There is no distinction between in-state and out of state students when making waitlist decisions, that’s not something they look at. They also don’t look at which school in UC Berkeley they applied to when making waitlist decisions, so that doesn’t matter.
what the fuck lmao
yeah
Current Berkeley students, I got into Bowles Hall but haven't heard back from regular housing and Bowles wants an answer by Monday so I'm speed running trying to research while comparing it to like u3 triple.
Could anyone tell me more about Bowles and maybe give me like pros and cons?
Obviously I know it costs a lot more but was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be my money's worth.
I'm a Meche major so being near the engineering buildings is def a plus for me and hopefully people are social in Bowles bc I heard foothill is more quiet which I wasn't the biggest fan of.
Thanks!
so i have a chance!
I have friends in bowels and it’s amazing. Like good socialization, they have their own dinning hall that is good. Unit 3…it’s its own world, but if price isn’t a factor, Bowles
🙏 🙏 🙏 😭 😭 😭 bruh my committed college starts like aug 13
that last part makes sense tho since its just based on yield for the specific major you applied for right?
Any chance I could connect with some of your friends from Bowles?
Yeah, send me a DM
Thank you so much!

blackwell is the best one
then unit 1 i think
i wouldve had blackwell with regents but i didnt commit there
thats crazy
is eecs wl cooked
guys just making sure, theres no chance of them rescinding me for failing one ap test right? (even getting a 0)
Just don’t report it
but its one of my admissions tasks ;-;
little to no chance, yes
Oh wait idk then, I think what I did was submit a form that I wasn’t taking some of the APs I said I would be and it got taken off my task list
In that case yeah I don’t think anything significant will happen from it
the lowest you can get is a 1 dw
but yeah no the only thing is that you won’t get credit for it if you don’t pass
tysm! i wanna just not take the physics exam but my parents r making me ;-;
ok thank you!!!
HOLY REAL.
they definitely will not
colleges don’t weigh failing ap scores super heavily as long as you did well in the actual class because they know that students’ performances on an hours-long exam (esp. when sometimes students take multiple in one day) are not indicative of their actual potential for college courses
especially for physics considering more than half of the people who took it last year failed lol
tysm!!
why is physics 1 pass rate so low 😭
mines physics c tho
np!! i’m ngl this was a massive factor in me choosing to not do APs my senior year because i knew i would not gaf once i had already committed to a school lol
same i litearlly skipped my calc exam today cuz i just didnt have the motivation to get my 4 to a 5 😭 and also MY MAJOR DOESNT EVEN TAKE PHYSICS C CREDIT 😭
I don’t know if they look at it like this and I think you’re correct about the net impact it has on your decisions, but “hours-long exams” are literally how you get your grades in college from your finals and midterms unless you’re taking some silly GE class
the vast majority of college exams are not 4 hours long tho lol
and there’s also a massive margin for error when the test is standardized but each individual class isn’t so students come in from very different backgrounds and levels of preparedness
They are 3 hours at Berkeley
Everyone has access to the material and unless there are some extreme circumstances (like your school being absolutely horrible or you having literally no time to study) you would be learning the material in school and having enough time to study it
And I’d wager that most people on A2C don’t come from 2/10 high schools or anything like that
idk why this is turning into a debate but i went to hs in appalachia and had to self-study for all of my APs lol
Sorry I’m not trying to draw it out or anything I just wanted to make a comment
Anyway I won’t continue the discussion if you don’t want to ig
any internationals get their acceptance package?
wtf why is the physics 1 curve abysmal compared to the physics c one
fr the physics 1 kids are getting so screwed over 😭😭😭
my freshman year high school btw 💔
do we know when housing offers come out?
soon probably next week they'll start
isnt the app due like may 15th
when's it due this year
it was due may 2nd for me :(
i think it was for most ppl
damn
How long until I find out if my ID photo is accepted?
Mine does not follow the guidelines 😔😼
HELP NOOOOOOO
same am i cooked
hi guys so i am v scared lol
im out of state and im going to do FPF
for context
i am just worried bc i reported some of my courses as full year and stuff when it shows up on my transcript as 0.5
0.5 credits (?)
i was wondering if anyone knows how strict they are - is this something i need to submit an update for ? I've sent an update previously with my unofficial transcript for review
im specifically asking bc ik ppl who are rescinded for example are mostly students who misreport on thier uc app
i dont think theres a good way to predict obviously how strict something/someone is but if anyone can answer from what u know that would be helpful
they def won't rescind you for something like this but i think you should submit an update
i think it's a fairly common mistake esp for OOS students
thank uu
i’ve seen people get rescinded from UCLA for similar things so
when do appeal decisions come out
just making sure, housing hasnt come out yet right
im p sure it has for anyone who submitted before 5/2
WAIW MB i thought this was hte ucla thread help 😭
im not sure abt cal
oh thank fuck i havent gotten mine yet i thoguht i was gonna be homeless for a year or smth 😭
They take a while😭
omg that’s insane 💀😭
why would that lead to a rescind though
is it bc it affects gpa calculations or something
when are we expecting Berkeley housing offers to come out?
ooo congrats of berk
Thank you I got it a while back
i just got one today btw
first round just went out
if anyone is in unit 3 dm me i have an insta gc
Unit 2 is great! I was in unit 2 this year
berkeley met or stanford?
Blackwell 😼
Anyone unit 1
friend of mine chose stanford over met (in-state)
I'll be in unit 1
brother graduated
see you there
wha\ts this and why is it overdue by like 4 months?
It’s an optional fee that helps out UC student govs
hmm i see
do i need to do anything about it? it’s weird that it appeared overdue when i didn’t even have access to the portal then
You need to either opt in or out I’d assume
i think if you opt out you cant ever run for the student gov
student gov extortion is crazy
university of california broccoli
borcollee
Uc Barack lee
borklee
sorry if this was asked before, but do yall recommend doing l&s first-year pathways or nah
i've never done it myself nor do i know anybody who has but looking on the website it does seem interesting
i will say first make a spreadsheet and list down all your major(s) requirements and then gen eds and see if it would be useful for you or a waste of time
bc at least for me a lot of major requirements overlapped with breadth requirements so i didnt have to take separate breadth courses
but also if the classes are interesting to you like go for it lol
