1. blackwell -> best but very hard to get into. close to campus, closest dining hall is cafe 3. singles and doubles so dont go if you want an attached bathroom, but has really good bathrooms. kinda anti social and large floors so you dont really become close to people on your floor. goated study lounges but you can access these by befriending someone in blackwell.

2. unit 3 -> oldest, smallest rooms but closest to campus after blackwell and has an attached cafe (cafe 3). singles, doubles, triples. very social, small floors. if you're in ida sproul, you have a chance of getting the best view (bay view). also beverly clearly is kinda goated as well. no suites as well, only communal bathrooms but they're not too bad. depends on floor.

3. unit 1/2 -> a little farther but like 2 blocks. singles, doubles, triples, double/triple mini suites. rooms are on average bigger than unit 3. laundry is on every 3rd floor instead of in a separate building like unit 3. water on every 3rd floor i think instead of on the ground floor like unit 3. also very social and near asian ghetto so lots of good food options. closest dining hall is crossroads.

4. foothill -> far but good dining hall nearby. much less social than the units but also different kinds of people (people who prefer board game nights over frat parties on weekends). bigger rooms, also have suite style rooms where its like 5-6 rooms share a bathroom instead of completely communal. i think they only do singles and doubles but i might be wrong.
   *foothill also houses stern which is the only female-only dorm. stern rooms are humongous (someone remind me to send a picture i have one somewhere) but the bathroom stalls dont have doors its just curtains which isn't that big of a deal to me but just something to note.

5. clark kerr -> farthest. very active/loud/frat vibes. humongous rooms (triples dont have bunk beds). goated dining hall. no floors, spanish-villa style. dont think they have suites.

Btw I have the same dilemma for business/IEOR overlap - USC or Berkeley. I literally flew over to California, talked to 10+ students from both unis, 2+ professors..

A) Alumni network support and private school support systems. B) happiness levels in terms of social life and workload C) flexibility for students. These are the only factors that usc is better in.

For the first- I’d say the ceiling for Berkeley is far higher if and only if you’re a go getter and actually reach out to the right people. The faculty is immensely connected to top valley firms. USC will instead hold ur hand and support u through the whole process, so ur level of independence is an important factor. Again different environment in LA.. media, entertainment focuses. Tech scene still active but naturally less so. IB “Feeder school” stats can also be seen above..

2. I’m willing to sacrifice a marginally higher degree of happiness. USC students are naturally more outgoing and social all around. Frat life is basically equally enjoyable and both have similar “play hard” intensity.. In terms of flexibility.. I’d say that comes down to planning your curriculum and having a vision for what you really want to do.

Almost every other factor Berkeley is on top. No offense. USC is great tho bro
