Yeah Ik so what should I do
Rutgers is in state and closer
But Penn state better reputation
rep wise, rutgers nb is obviously better as a school, but penn state ranks higher in engi
but look at this
penn state out of state is well over 60k a year
Really ? I think Penn state is more prestigious rep wise
Could just bc I’m from
Jersey and ppl are ofc gonna talk down on our state school
rutgers nb is 15-20k ish
Ik it’s top 15 public university in the country
as a university yes, way better. but for undergrad rutgers is better
but more people will know about penn state
but imo the cost difference is massive
I’m honestly leaning more toward Rutgers then
Just makes more sense
I also got accepted in UMD
Yeah
def a bit more worth it than penn state
Enough to make the price difference compared to Rutgers ?
im intl, paying 63k a year for penn state 💔
honestly this is a matter between you and your parents
I hate that New Jersey doesn’t have many in state options outside of Rutgers bc I wa never getting into Princeton
well princeton is priv anyway so
Yeah so
if cost is NOT a matter AT ALL, then yes. 100% go umd
I might go Rutgers bc the acceptance rate is 35% this year and is crawling up ranks year by year
isn't it like 60%
i personally got accepted into both but went penn state instead
Not anymore this year it was 35%
They get so many applicants I think is why
I dont think so, this is the only source talking about it
and it's reddit.
Might be idk the ins and outs
I heavily doubt they'd drop their acceptance rate by almost half
umd is like 40% though, congrats
(i missed my deadline for umd)
Yeah it was my top realistically I had four letters of recommendations
Rejected from other big 10 schools like UIUC and Wisconsin
what were ur stats?
honestly u prob couldve gotten into uiuc if u got into umd
3.5 gpa transfer student
From NJ
UIUC isn’t very transfer friendly or out of state friendly I think
Yeah not sure if I’m going to attend tho
staying in nj?
Yeah leaning toward that
I just think that makes the most sense for me
Engineering isn’t a occupation where schooling matters as much
yeah, paying 2-3x for a negligible amount of prestige isn't worth it
Yeah
wish i could say the same for law firms 💔
Plus Rutgers a good school
Oh yeah definitely not
they turned down the ivy league status
they're eligible to be an ivy league school btw
yeah
ivy status is more about how old your school is
aaand then rutgers became public
Their known more for like medical right ?
def something healthcare related
only went penn state bc it's 27 in poli sci
Cool school too
yeah def, massive campus
Only thing I don’t like is that it’s in the middle of nowhere
my jaw dropped when i looked up the location
so isolated that they grow and farm their own cows for dairy related stuff on campus
I might go tho bc it has the best Greek life out of anywhere I’ve been accepted and I’m gonna join that
oh ya i heard abt the greek life thing
Yeah biggest in the north east
