idk

#

I know for english classes the freshman seminars start with 0 (?)

#

but then again ig if a class has no prereqs its open to freshmen

latent mulch
#

what r ur goals

dusky bough
#

good question

#

Idk

#

i think i want to study either s&ds or applied math

latent mulch
#

lol u can change it whenever it doesn't matter. i know people who changed their major senior year

latent mulch
# dusky bough i think i want to study either s&ds or applied math

i didnt take either (i came in knowing multi... nerd). MATH 120 is very much professor dependent, try and get andrew yarmola or maria sisaki. ENAS 151 is more consistent (average-ish) and much more application-y, but it isn't good prep if you want to take further classes along, especially in the math dept.

#

some notes:

  • 108 s&ds is a half credit second semester course, prob meant to be taken with 109. honestly, if you did well in ap stats you can just skip to 230 and you'll be fine.
  • cpsc 1001 is probably fine. i think tim is teaching it and he's lowkey kinda boring but yknow. don't cheat.
  • don't take a 9am that you need to go to

so our stats class is weird

#

i think we covered all of the ap stats content

latent mulch
#

click the first year seminar button on the left, under "yale college attributes"

dusky bough
#

and then in the spring we did regression, anova, etc. so i dont know how much i will remember from the normal ap stats curriculum

#

like could i take 1080 without taking 1090? or no

latent mulch
#

oh yeah you could

#

for sure

#

just pointing it out

#

tbh having a lighter first half of the semester might help with settling in

dusky bough
#

das what i was thinking

#

and i feel like my courseload wont be super horrible

#

i should probably move the 9 am tho

#

for course reg do ppl usually get the classes they want? or is it hard

french is 1.5

dusky bough
#

Wtf

#

bruh

latent mulch
#

oh huh its 1

#

normally languages are 1.5

#

ig cause its only twice a week

dusky bough
#

Idk what level french im gna take any way/if i will even take french first sem

#

I think ill place in l5 but i didnt take any french sr year so

#

But also ive only heard bad things about french at yale

latent mulch
#

french l1-l4 are 1.5 credits

#

b/c they are m-f

dusky bough
#

Bruh

#

Ok so now i should prob put effort into placing in l5

#

I feel like it cant be that hard tho

#

I talked to the french lady at teh academic fair and she was very sweet

latent mulch
#

by far the best yale course review

dusky bough
#

Im fluent in french tho

latent mulch
dusky bough
#

which is why i have hope

latent mulch
#

what an incredible line

dusky bough
#

Why is it so bad

latent mulch
#

just very intense

#

lots of work

#

other languages are far easier, though you obviously learn less i suppose

#

another banger (review of object oriented programming)

#

you can take them yeah

#

definitely not freshman year, you can't credit/d them as easily

#

but MGT (SOM) classes are generally easy so long as you show up

#

basically guaranteed a good grade

dusky bough
#

ok i looked thru the frosh seminars and a lot of them r cool and i did some swapping

#

i like this schedule a lot but i lowk dont wanna take a sciencey writing class

#

Like it would prob be helpful

#

but like i wanna just take a normal writing class

#

I wouldn’t shy away from MATH 120 9am bc you’re not graded on attendance/participation so it shouldn’t ever have to block off a valuable timeslot another class could occupy

but they're just random reviews on coursetable ive seen lol

#

i have a spreadsheet of all course reviews going back like a decade (for a nlp project) so i sometimes just scroll the longest and find them too

On March 10th, 2023, Johnathan Gong, founder and president of the UCSD Costco Club, made history by eating an ENTIRE rotisserie chicken in front of UCSD's Geisel Library. One year later, John reflects on how the stunt represented more than just eating a chicken, and how the event became a symbol of campus unity and spontaneity.
