without empire, how to distinct between forebear and crowns lol.
wonder how many time the imperials will try to build an empire only to see it collapse^^'
Empire building is a natural consequence of nationalistic identity
So long as the Cyrods see themselves as aunited people, they will seek to expand their influence.
as many times as real life i guess
is imperial have biggest population in tamriel?
i mean, i compare the empire to roman and once byzantium fell, nodoby really tried to rebuilt it. many claimed to be sucessor but that never gone anywhere
i think wood elves are the most populous, or at least among elves they are if i trust that one book i read in elder scrolls online
Many people tried to rebuild jt, with varying degrees of success
realistically, 2 closest to ever claim mantle of rome was charlemagne during his high period and holy roman empire under the hapsburg but otherwise, nearly every big country claimed mantle and got ignored
wood elf is more like halfling rather than elf lol.
tbf, TES still basically have usual rpg races template.
Tes started as a d&d game
their dwarf is different but the nords are kinda like dwarf on normal fantasy archetype
brash, love drunk, hate elves, hate magic lol
tall tolkien dwarves
yeah, imperial are the boring gondor people with big empire and white city of marble
Well, they are NOW
back in the arena and daggerfall days the bretons were the generic humans... then redguard was like "what if the diversed place had only one race of human?"
in lotr, i always got attracted by mysterious culture like the easterling or the haradrims (the evil mens as they are called), like for elder scrolls where dwemer and in lesser extend argonian pre dark intrigue me most
oh right redguard are just exotic men, kinda samurai society from desert
remind me of ottoman north africa basically aesthetically wise
lol gaiden shinji must be biggest redguard weebos
Anyway, if you wanted to distinguish between Crowns and Forebears without using the Empire as a base, you could stylistically divide their influences
i like the ebonheart pact's idea for a government for tamriel, a council with a member from each province/major race ruling in cooperation
The Forebears could be more Ottoman, more Arabian Nights, while the Crowns could be a mix of Age of Sail and ancient Egypt
Then have the Crowns working to recover the ancient weapons and technoligies of Yokuda, while the Forebears are more accepting of Magic.
i still don't know the importance to these two
other than one didn't like tiber
The Forebears eere a cultural faction that developed out of the initial waves into Tamriel. They tend to be more flexible and accepting of other ideas amd cultures.
The Crowns came later, and represent the old nobility and traditionalists of Yokuda
The remains of the noble class against the political descendants of the warrior class. Sort of.
and there's third one who hated by both.
Well, there are afew others, but those are the 2 major cultural divisions
i don't think i like em
There's also the Alik'r, who are nomads who largely live in the deserts and should 1000% be modeled after Fremen
but thats depressing because cyrus
Cyrus was a very... Forebear Crown.
There's the outcasts who sacrifice their honour to kill dangerous undead.
Yeah, can't remember their name though
Because stabbing your ancestors is bad M'kai...
Even if said ancestor is trying to eat your face
The Ash'abah tribe
Ah yes.
Still, the general theme of the Forebears is that they are more willing to look for outside help for problems, and have frequently worked with the Empire.
The Crowns are more independent and xenophobic, and endorse more traditional power structures and solutions.
This isn't universally true, though, as Cyrus was a Crown, and was very innovative and flexable.
And the Redguard leader of the Daggerfall Covenant was also a Crown.
So, its really more like... uuuh... how do i say this withoht causing problems...
Liberal or Conservative. Goals, solutions and approaches may change, or even flip entirely, but you typically identify as one or the other.
i don't understand this hammerfell culture but oh well
you guys do you i guess... get murdered by camoran usurper
Lol
Hammerfell could offer a really interesting setting and culture, like we haven't seen since Morrowind
Buuuut... i don't expect it. I expect nothing but tacky Arab analogies with no thoughtful explorarion or commentary
It could be a really cool mix of cultural influences from all around the world, creating adeep and diverse landscape and population.
But I'm pretty sure we're just going to get Ottoman Empire, Tamriel Edition
I set my bars low
Possible. But unlikely, in my opinion.
I agree
It's insane when you think about it
15 years
almost if not the end of the current console generation
im always pc but its a detail
Isn't that the truth?
True
However - by that metric - all stories are jazz
Pattern then improvise then pattern then improvise and then soar in a solo
then pattern then dissipate
hello I'm sorry for the off topic but why isn't there a TES:O channel?
ESO is made by Zenimax Online, a different studio from Bethesda Game Studios.
This discord is specifically for Bethesda Game Studios, not their sister studios under the Bethesda Softworks publisher.
thanks!
The Elder Scrolls Online Discord can be found by clicking on #official-sites
Is anyone else having massive bug issues with ESO?
I have had everything...
From invisible enemies to NPCS who were there in name only.
And I can't interact with these NPC's?
If this is an inappropriate place to be complaining about this issue...
I apologise.
For whatever reason...
And quite tellingly.
The ticket system wouldn't work.
The ESO Discord Server can be found on #official-sites This server is for Bethesda Game Studios.
I hope 6 can manage to make the daedra less super on\obviously evil complete monsters, like a few it makes sense for, but even Azura Malacath Medidia were needlessly jerks during their quests, Sheo is about the only one who had an unambiguously good quest,
I would like to see them offer up options to finagle a way to complete their quests w/o being a "bad guy" i.e. speech skill high enough to persuade them, sneaky enough to stealth thru...
Do you think Microsoft acquirement could in some ways speed up TESVI release? Not rush ofc...I mean speed up.
By making the team bigger...or it is something BGS wouldn't want? (To make the team bigger)
i have nothing against doing Molag bal's quest being a evil thing to do, but it would be nice if Boethia wasn't reduced to an egomaniacal for the evulz jerk,
just learned that Kahjiit believe Boethiah and Mehpala are a couple, so.... Mephala is a spider, spiders eat by dissolving their food, ergo Mephala likes her food like she likes the gender of her lovers, fluid,
well vivec and almalexia is couple too CMIIW
every pantheon is Azura suffering while Mephala and Boethiah make bad innuendos back and fourth,
Unlikely. At this time Bethesda Softworks intends to stick to their traditional release schedule: "...the timeframe for Bethesda Game Studios titles has not changed at all." "Time frame-wise, it would still be about as long as you'd expect when you look at Fallout 3 to Skyrim to Fallout 4 to Fallout 76. It's still going to be those periods of time, that hasn't changed."
they won't just abandon Starfield so close before its completion, and they can't work faster on ES6 than they can work on it
I'd reckon the production schedule might go from four years to five years with that extra financial support
Betting for a 2027 release date now
Thanks Pseron for you answers
How do I get rid of elder scroll
you can sell it to Urag
oh, wait, this is #elder-scrolls-general-chat
then there's no way to get rid of Elder Scrolls
….
this is a question I've been asking myself for three years
you mean 10 years lol
ive been a fan since 2012 but since 2018 I have been getting stir crazy from the series @-@
Thats what ESO is for. Yeah, the gameplay is different and the stories are more structured, bjt best lire contribtion since Morrowind. Maybe even since Redguard
i was playing eso and blades for most of that time and it still didn't help. all it did was make me create fan fictions
which is arguably worse
Lol
No, pondering on how you'd further the world and its stories, and writinf hundreds of pages of story and mechanics ideas, is worse
ugh, too immersive game is kinda not fun in my opinion. like take day to learn spell, or training anything.
prefer i could do anything rather couldn't do this or that because its not realistic or not immersive.
I hate the word Immersion
Immersion is being pulled into something so it consumes your focus
It isn't realism, though realism can help with it
An immersive game isn't one that feels like real life, its one you start playing Friday night... and then suddenly its tuesday morning and you have 10 unanswered calls about why you misses work yesterday
if npc capable using illusion magic, i don't think its good on player side. I mean i imagine if npc enemy capable make your follower turn against you or make you stop combat because calm spell. or dragon using other shouts like marked to death or something.
its interesting but it can make something difficult, i play elder scrolls not for challenge combat.
Depending on the Illusion Magic and how itnworks, you could do it
i mean it could be done but there's must be a reason why bethesda choose didn't implemented it. i only see paralysis magic only used on scene.
Your opinion is ruining my immersion 😒
What are we talking about? ._.
Something immersive isnt the same as something realistic
If anything realistic mechanics are some of the least immersive things you can add
yeah, i know but most people probably not think like that.
I dont think you're around the right people
I know immersive is thing that can make something believable
Most people thinkn of immersive as "does this make me want to play the game more?"
What if tes 6 has realistic sword play where you flip the sword and start whacking someone with the hilt? I think that’d be immersive
And "Does this make the game draw me into the world"
I dont know what to tell you but people HATE realistic mechanics in most games
Because no one wants to play a real life simulator
A lot of people think seeing models clipping slightly is not immersive
People get pissed off at the smallest things lmao
Wait till they realize most of the games they play are full of clipping
Its not noticable half the time
some people complained when weapon not degraded on skyrim, or food not rotten in dungeon lol
they don't think its not immersive enough.
No they think its not REALISTIC enough
Immersion is not realism
Some people just dont realize this
I love the lore that draugr are lighting the candles and get back up when you kill them
that's why i said some people believe immersion is related with realism
Yeah
that's why i said prefer more fun things rather immersive things.
And some of the physics glitches can be funny. I remember one time when I was leaving Windhelm it started raining goats and chickens. 😆
They say, with a pfp from one of the single most immersive games made
That sounds fun
One time i killed a drsgon by jumping on it lmao
Wot
Had like 10 goats and I think 15 chickens fall from the sky.
When I was younger I killed two frost dragons but they didn’t evaporate and every time I fast traveled one of their corpses followed me to the location until it finally stopped in windhelm. I named him Fredrick
One time I killed ulfric prior to the entire civil war questline
Then there was the giant I killed and it's corpse started to float up.
Thats not a bug
He's just ascending
I used to have a screenshot of a giant corpse stuck in the floor
I thought it looked like art
i don't have a heart to hunt the giant unless its bounty.
and heard about the giant based on artist dad make me more feel bad 🤣
I don't hunt giants either but this one attacked me for no reason so he was asking for it.
Yeah I remember that!
Just started a new playthrough and this like the 5th time I've had a giant in the middle of the path to Whiterun from Riverwood at the start of game when I need to go to Whiterun and see Balgruuf. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm just glad that he's been docile each time.
rand encounter
usually followed by painted cow
if you kill the cow, he probably attack you 😄
That's just it there is no painted cow he's just there.
And he doesn't move and will stay there for 2 days.
Although he did kill the assassin that attacked me for me.
How to get falkrearhw gaurds to stop hitting me
depends on the game
Attacking you or hitting on you?
How many more tickets are left for the house?
Uhh..Where can I get some in-game support for Elder Scrolls V?
Which house?
If we do get to play more with ships in TESVI, I hope we get to see Maelstrom of Bal occurrences :)
And exploring Ul'vor Kus in the Sea of Pearls
Hello hello, i guess there are people with knowledge here so i just ask. I recently bought the Anniversary edition. I play on PC. Steam is telling me, that it has been installed after i bought it, but its just not. I've no content ingame except the free stuff like the golden armor and survival mode. Also in the DOWNLOAD tab of steam no installation is listed. It's really making me mad rn bc i was kinda hyped and i can't figure out whats wrong. I dont know if im just to stupid to see it and its obvious, but thats the first dlc i ever bought and i dont know what im doing wrong.
Please help.
:)
I just noticed, the icon is gold so i guess its installed? I still have not any content in the game, ive checked all kinds of new items in the console and checked the new playerhome spots.
it should ask to download automatically when you start the game, but if it does not, have you tried going into the Creation Club menu option (from within the game) and downloading the creations there?
what do ya'll think of a semi return to procedural generation? like having spawn points for dungeons but randomizing which goes where and which dungeon has which layout?
id rather dungeons be hand made and look nice
Dungeons can still be that, it would just pick which one it's using for a specific name, and all that entails, I.E. if there are 4 huge dwemer ruins in the game there would be that number of them but it randomizes which one is which, kulongez may use layout 01 during one playthrough but use 04 the next,
then you wouldnt be able to have most of skyrims dwemer ruins
which have several entry points from outside
and very specific layouts
The "multiple entry points" are mostly alternate exits usually connected to an elevator or blocked by a wooden board from the inside, or require a key to open, none of them are really enhanced by this any more then the dungeons with a silly hidden door that leads back to the entrance,
I've had quite an interesting idea for procedual generation for dungeons
most likely too complicated to actually pull off, but if it could be done, it'd be great
it becomes much harder when you want to combine it with the kind of cool open world modern bethesda games have, but it may be required to get them to go back to the days when equipment felt good like it did in morrowind,
well abyss system on blades is procedural dungeon
I think using procedural generation to create the world, then going in and detailing by hand is the best approach
Use a map sculptor tool to create the map. Use a Procedural Generation tool to cover the map. Then go through all the sites generate and adjust as needed.
Even if you cut out a third of the time for manual placement of static objects, you're still making the process more efficient.
Honestly if it wouldn't take away from the amazing overworlds i would advocate for islands of fixed design surrounded by procedurally generated areas, like after you travel so far from white run game is like "Move on into the wilderness?" and then it moves you into a new map that it generates from a seed so you can save that if you prefer a more static learnable world, and then you can see land marks around the map to head to to return to hand made zones,
I think it would take away from more than just the Overworld. It would complicate player information sharing, creating modded locations and such.
Procedural generation is a great tool, but i think its biggest strength lies in pre-generation. Priming the canvas before the artist goes in and does their work
Beyond that, i think it should be limited to minor quests, and maybe an extradimensional dungeon
You know what they should use procedural generation for?
Random encounters
As well as generic weapons and armor
Give them randomly generated details
Have a list of like 50 odd accesories for each type of armor or weapon
And have you be able to craft said random accessories
Purely for cosmetic reasons though, minor stat buffs have always been dumb
so like fallout 4
specifically like how it handles the visual condition of institute armor
Crafting is a WHOLE other discussion
I play a lot of games with procedurally generated environments, and I'll be entirely forthright. I don't think the tech js ready for the sort kf close-inspection world we see in TES.
But to do the rough work at the start, and to string together inconsequential filler quests? Yeah. That it can handle
Hello
Hello
I don't think it's a good idea to make everything randomly-generated in TES because it wouldn't fit the style. It works in Fallout because it's a post-apocalyptic game, so almost everything, such as weapons and armor in the world, are expected to be randomly made from scraps.
TES doesn't have that excuse, having every little thing randomized would feel out of place, not to mention a waste of time and resources from a development point of view. Additionally, making dungeon layouts randomized would feel like a cop-out while making individual dungeons more repetitive. It runs the risk of making some dungeons in the world having almost the same layout, which is a recipe for disappointment.
That being said, I wouldn't mind a similar base-building system to Fallout 4/76 being added in TES 6. Skyrim's random encounters use a similar system to Fallout 3's, which unless I'm mistaken, was the first 3D open-world Bethesda game to have random encounters.
Procedural and Randomised are different things
How would everyone feel about a spin off/crossover between TES and FO? like the fallout Premise but it's applied to the world of TES?
crossover?
nah... how would that even work??
Basically you move Tamriel up to the tech level of Fallout and instead of societal stasis kicking in in the 1950s it kicked in during the middleages, and then the empire and Akavir nuked eachother, ect
eww
I hate post-nuclear wastelands
that's why I don't play fallout
this shows a slight misunderstanding of the elderscrolls tech level
its very mixed and isnt much related to time
everyone knows tes and fallout already share the same universe
Bethesda has made it clear that Fallout and the Elder Scrolls exist in different fictional universes. To combine them would violate the lore of both games. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/bethesda-e3-2017-fallout-and-elder-scrolls-are-not/1100-6450986/
that is literally not what i suggested, i suggested a non canon spin off that takes the concepts and premise of one series and applies it to the other,
What do you mean by "premise"?
(aside from that, you could tell by how Earth doesn't have 2 moons)
the "it's a post apocolytic future of a world that became lost in it's own past"
because lorkhan wasnt killed yet 😒
fallout is the dawn era, clearly
Fallout's premise doesn't fit to TES, the idea behind Fallout is rooted firmly in real-world commentary
TES' world doesn't have the political or social depth of ours
true, but everything in it is based on ours cuz you know Roman empire was a thing, and just like the games the real world has spend a long time ignoring it's failures to obsess over it, plus the softer premise allows for more meta commentary on nostalgia blindness ect,
The cultures in all parts of TES are loosely inspired by real world examples and historical parallels, but they never serve as more than a base on which to build more classical fantasy stories
The Empire is very loosely inspired by the Roman Empire, but simultaneously it has a secret service that's basically a bunch of people LARPing as samurais
The actual storylines in the games are much more Tolkien-esque than real world commentary
eh, the game jump around on that matter, there is a constant jarring contrast between the writting that wants to be a high fantasy series and the writing that wants to be a dark fantasy setting, and the gameplay that wants to be a low fantasy setting bordering on swords and sorcery,
that said the tolkein stuff is always the worst of it, outside oif the lovecraft stuff,
Aside from this I don't think this means TES can't serve as a medium in which to tell serious, non-high fantasy stories
TES hasn't really explored that much yet though
elderscrolls also has scifi aspects
like sotha sils entire thing
him having androids
Sotha Sil is magipunk/steam punk same as the dwemer, the writing is just inconsistent about the scope and scale of these things because TES doesn't obsess over the lore most of the time being very happy to just rely on broad strokes,
no its not steampunk at all
pay a bit more attention to sotha sil
his stuff is clockwork and science
he has computers and androids
sotha sils tech doesnt run on steam
it runs on magic and electricity his fabricants are alive sapient beings
and he has computers
1 post your entire post at once, 2 clockpunk is a derivative of steam punk, and so is magipunk,
1 dont tell me what to do
2 neither of those involve computers
it was designed as alot of scifi stuff so il go with the intent not what some other person says
i cant help my issues with how i think
so do not tell me what to do or what not to do
Hold up samurais?
The Blades
The Blades. The lamest people in all of Tamriel
Ah
Delphine can go jump in a fire for all I care
That's all I know of the blades I'm sorry
Anyway the dunmer make better samurais
the blades did alot more in previous games
They were the former bodyguards and spies for the Septim Emperors. And they were honestly terrible at both jobs
oblivion and morrowind
theyre so terrible they manged to arrange the entirety of morrowinds events successfully
Considering the plot of oblivion, they must suck
The Blades' reputation was waaaaaaaaaaay too overblown, they had some successes but also catastrophic failures like the invasion of Akavir and the entire plot of Oblivion
Bot pls
The only thing the Blades ever did on their own, was identify a single smuggler base in Morrowind
I mean, Tharn impersonated Uriel for 10 YEARS, and they didn't even seem to notice
no government agency works on their own
The Blades were once Dragonslayers called the Dragonguard. A very long time ago anyway
They're still better at their jobs than anything the Vigil of Stendarr have done.
Fair enough
and your being hard on a group because one of the most powerful mages used insanely powerful illusions
Nah, they're pretty good at being perk points fodder for my vampire lord characters
tharn didnt just trick the blades
he tricked the entirety of the world except for one person
No, i'm being hard on a group that has no acheivements of their own, and which has had to have a Hero clean up their mess every single time they're mentioned or shown
Like I said in a similar discussion, the Vigil of Stendarr are the TES equivalent of the Pittsburgh Pirates. They just keep losing all the time.
and without them most of the series couldnt happen
A woman who he killed didn't leave Nirn spiritually. She found the eternal champion? I think
That's like saying without the electrical short, the hero couldn't rescue 3 kids from a fire
except the blades didnt cause the fire
they almost alwys act on the word of the somewhat paychic emperor
And almost always manage to screw it up and make the problem worse
they dont though
they do exactly as thwy were supposed to by the emperors plan
the group in skyrim are a different thing
They lost the Totem of Tiber Septim and inadvertantly facilitated the start of the War of the Bretony, requiring the Agent to clean up their mess.
They undermined the Dunmeri Temple, giving Dagoth Ur greater ground and then tried to use local superstition to increase the Empire's authority in Morrowind, until their OWN AGENT said "The hell with the Empire, save Morrowind". And the end result was the total rejection of imperial authority in Morrowind.
They failed to protect the Emperor or listen to his words during the evaccuation, then failed to keep taps on his heir, THEN lost the Amulet of Kings.
The Blades suck. Tehy have always sucked.
And, and this is personal taste more than anything, their Equipment is incredibly lame
Eh, Samurai in general are pretty lame
I've said it before: the Blades are the Keystone Kops of Tamriel.
Even the Orcs are better with samurai armor, the Morrowind Orcish armor is stylized after Japanese armor.
Interestingly, the transition between Morrowind and Oblivion Orcish armour, to Skyrim/ESO Orcish, could be explained by way of Orsinium
Funnily enough, the Oblivion Orcish armor looks Korean, while the Skyrim Orcish armor looks Mongolian.
When Orsinium thrives, the Orcs invest more in the artistic stylings of their craft. When it's stull struggling to eke out an existence, their armour is curder and more utilitarian
Probably there are many blades agent doing something like protagonist TES Blades on daily basis. bethesda just undermined them on most main series lol.
I feel that Skyrim was the point where even Bethesda recognized that the Blades are complete screw-ups. Even TES:Blades features a quest line where you hunt a dragon with a fellow blade. Only for him to then target another dragon that you've allied with, so you have to stop him. I wouldn't be surprised if TES 6 completely renders the Blades extinct.
I remember a conversation once, where we were talking about the Blade's acomplishments...
And i was like "Didn't they once thwart an assassination attempt, and then chase the assassins across the rooftops of the Imperial City, fighting an hour long airborne battle above the treets?"
And then i remember "No, wait, those are the White Lions of Chrace..."
they are really not good spy and guard but probably great dragon hunters. i mean oculatus is better than blades.
they successfully destroy Dark Brotherhood but just didn't expect any survivors still can slip out.
Ironically, their dragon-hunting ways appears to be setting up their complete downfall to extinction.
death by over specialization
what if some akaviri guys appear and rebuild the blades as proper dragon hunter?
I feel that the Tsaesci would simply forget the Blades existed.
By the time of the 4th era I mean.
Even dragonborn can question delphine "what is blades" lol
feel like the blades mirror the roman's praetorian guard in the way they started prestigious and as elite mercenary, only to latter boil down as petty people using their rank/title to get more power/wealth by toying with the imperial system they're set in
I guess common people didn't know how much behind history of white gold concordat
Yeah but the dragonborn is written as an idiotic nord with no knowledge of anything so that's not surprising,
Thank God that the Blades is rotting down the bottom-most feet of the Throat of the World somewhere, then.
They deserve it after making me choose between Paarthunrox and Delphine
They're no Oblivion Blades
The oblivion blades let the entire blood line die
And lost the amulet
They sucked
they beat back a daedric invasion
Champion did that, that's like giving them credit for stopping Dagoth Ur
Exactly. The Chanpion of Cyrodiil helped to end the Daedric invasion in spite of The Blades, not because of them.
The blades just pointed the champion in the correct general direction at best.
Now, in their defense. They did manage to set up a deal with a book seller to get the last book of the Mysterium Xerxes.
Almelexia managed to covertly arrange for 3 pieces of trueflame to arrive in the city and for one of the very few smiths in the world with the skill to repair it to be on hand all within a specific time frame, their support game is subpar,
Oh, absolutely. I didn't mean that as an endorsement of the Blades
Just that, you know. Tracking down a rare book vendor shows they can at least read.
They seem to be more competent when we aren't around.
But I think that's true of most organizations.
Look at the companions.
They've been at war with the silver hand for quite awhile. Neither side seems to be winning but just days after we join the silverhand breaches Jorvaskar and kills Kodlak which is seemingly an unprecedented escalation of violence
Now we do end up wiping them out but WE do that.
The problem is, we don't really have any information of their successes
They're either SO good, no one ever hears about them...
Which is frankly just silly.
Or they're consistently bad and have never really acomplished anything of note.
it's one of those things where the writing the lore and the gameplay just don't line up,
i feel like they're like the irl praetorian guard, elite soldier hyped for their competency, but later generation they devolved into petty tools who barely manage to do their job right (irl praetorian becoming corrupt to hell and basically deciding who can or cannot be emperor while blades seem to just grow incompetent/clueless with time)
Trying to find out why no important argonian characters

Seems like it’s time for a new Dragonborn to “shepherd” them.
I wonder why the empire doesn't make TLDB emperor
It'd make so much sense
They'd have a stable bloodline again
Why do you think?
They needed a plot for TES VI?
One reason I can think of for the Dragonborn NOT to be Emperor is that he/she has Waaaaay too much wanderlust to reconquer, let alone govern, a continent-spanning empire.
If Beyond Skyrim is anything to go by, yes,
The biggest reason why TLD won't be Emperor in TES VI is because it would make it hard for millions of different players to accept when their dragonborns weren't the politician or conquering type. The less TES6 references TLD, the better we can fill in the gaps ourselves
But the champion of cyrodil is sheogorath
Tru but it never gets mentioned again in Skyrim
Oh, great. Here we go again. The old argument.
doesn't matter, prisoner destined gone from history after the event.
If we choose to believe a madman. 😆
Who wouldn't?
Talos in greek myths is a giant automatron made of bronze, Talos in Elder Scrolls is a man that used a giant automatron to conquer elves
Neat little detail
there was a reddit page that question that connection and MK replied saying it was on purpose. I find it very neat too. (Now i just gotta find that reddit post)
As far as the Dragonborn thing does, it's because the Dragonborn are A; not a stable bloodline in the slightest, and B; have no claim to Divine Right anymore
The Dragonfires are gone, there is no more need for a Dragonborn Emperor to sit on the throne, they have no more claim to it than any other petty warlord.
Plus, it's worth noting, Sheogorath is Sheogorath. IF the CoC did Mantle him, they're gone. Only Sheogorath remains.
It's a very different scenario to sitting a mortals butt on a throne, and then trying to account for the potentially millions of different personal Dragonborn that it could be.
exactly they are even kind of mum on weather or not our other PCs are 100% behind other events, something like this would be all but impossible to do in that regard,
I wonder how the Argonians/Khajiit will look in the new ES game.
More beastly? More human?
Weird crab walk?
I kind of miss the digitigrade feet we saw in Morrowind. But doubt they'll be returning.
I agree. I also miss the limitations you had that came along with it; i.e not wearing boots lol
I dislike not being able to wear boots - but with the technology of skyrim, they could easily change the model to allow for digitgrade
Yeah - it was quite in keeping with the surrounds
Morrowind feels quite wild, even more than later or previous games
I love it for that reason
Same goes for FF7
I mean, Honeybee Inn? The dolphin? Cait Sith?
It made the game all the more fun for me
Similarly with Morrowind: Skooma? Digitigrade feet? Vivec's Sermons? How about that wizard who just fell from the sky?
In a way, I wish serious games embraced their weirdness & surreality more often
Cause then, it's not playing just another drama
If you do it right - there's nothing like it on earth
And years later we're remembering it - like we're doing here right now
Yeah - it also helps to remind one that it's not all heroics and destinies
If it was just breaking your bones and rescuing your princess - what would the point of stories be? We'd be scurrying to mathematics instead for refuge because we will always need a relief valve
We need more silt striders and floating rocks XD
And levitating leaps across the map lol
Aren't the Silt Striders almost extinct by the time of TESV?
The dragonborn bred them back to safe levels for fun and profit.
I'd assume that would be approximately what one would look like
Yeah, we meet the last one potentially in Dragonborn. The trader says most were killed when Red Mountain erupted iirc
I believe the one he has he found in a cave or something
You would expect a species that lives in volcanic ashlands to be more adapted to survive volcanic activity
Lava is gonna Lava
Tell that to Tyranids
That was a sad moment for me
Is it the last silt strider, or the last silt strider of Vvardenfell?
I can't remember
I think in all of Vvardenfell
I believe Dusty was only the last on Solsteim, since we know a few areas of Vardenfell mostly avoided the worst of the eruption some adults were likely still alive, let alone the unseen wild herds of them,
We cannot be certain how many are left. Revus Sarvani tells us, "The blast from the volcano wiped most of them out. Found Dusty here in a small cave on Vvardenfell." Like so many other things in the Elder Scrolls universe this is open to interpretation. But if one survived on Vvardenfell that means others may have survived as well. And they can probably be found in greater numbers on Mainland Morrowind.
why would bethesda remove the best creature on tamriel though...
Spawn them in 😂
Why would they remove the race I'd be most interested in playing as lol
You wanna play as a silt strider?
Yes
It sucks that the dwemer are gone. I have some ideas for them if they were playable.
No I meant dwemer lol
It'd be perfect for a conjuration focused character though instead of spirits you'd summon mechanical constructs.
Play as a one too?
As a construct ? That's an interesting idea.
I had a skyrim mod in the works long ago where you would "play as" (or rather, remote control) a dwarven sphere
If you download the Dwemer race mod and make an excuse, you could rp as a Dwemer
Though no NPC would probably acknowledge it sadly
Just gave me an idea for Yagrum Bagarn as the Dragonborn
no he wants to play as the lilmothians or whatever they're called
wolf men... or were they fox men?
why did they exist again...?
Fox iirc, might be wrong. A plague wiped them afaik
the Lilmothiit were vulpine (i.e. fox-like)
they were killed by the knahaten flu, if i remember correctly
Weren't there silver-skinned people too that suffered from the same plague?
I forget their name tho
Yep, the Kothringi
Mhm. Or part dwemer part construct. The new dwemer race. That's kinda what I was getting at
Steampunk dwemer cyborgs do sound like a fun time.
Because Emperor Uriel Septim was brought back by the Dwemer to be a damsel in distress for more adventurers in the future.
Reminder please folks to try to avoid using flashing gifs, thank you
yeah but what was their origins?
im gonna look em up
ah, two paragraphs on uesp
fantastic lore
The Lilmothiit were a nomadic tribal group, and left few enduring signs of their existence.
big world building mood
Likely just another race of Beastmen. The origins of which remain unclear.
Personally, i think the Beastmen (Goblins, Imga, Sload, Lilmothiit, Ogres, etc) are Wandering Ehlnofey who were not transformed by Lorkhan and Kyne. Left to their own divices, they took vaguely humanoid shapes, but with their individual tribes adopting different characteristics. When day 1 started, and their physical fluidity ended, they were simpmy different scattered tribes with different appearances.
Some were widely successful, and spread across Tamriel, like Goblins. Others were wiped put, like the Bird-Men and the Lilmothiit.
I saw a bunch of cool Morrowind and Daggerfall posters on the walls of Bethesda Softworks HQ in "The Making of Oblivion", anyone know where I can get one?
these are probably like 20 years old by now, doubtful theyre still being sold
but you could check bethesda's own merch store ig
I want some of my own lol
nooooooooooooooo
Don't sweat it - I'm pretty much in the same boat yet I feel pretty youthful
My secret? Non-crapitiude is given
I managed to get through the maze of Reddit, FB, Discord etc like this
neh?
i still want a netch plushie but i don't understand american online shopping stuff
Unfortunately i can't help you there - I'm not American
im not either
These does look cute!
I imagine that they have pretty much the same functionality as Ebay or FB Marketplace though
Amazon if it has unfortunately reached you
ebay seems to have it
nvm i don't trust that
and its in dollars 😬
Yeah ebay is not trustworthy those days
What's your country's equivalent of either ebay or Amazon?
Mine is Trade-Me
we have ebay and amazon in england. but i don't trust what ebay had on it and amazon doesn't sell the plushies >_>
Gamingheads is decent, but I dunno if they'll ship outside the US
yeah... thats the big issue
Looks like Amazon is your best bet as much as I dislike it
I don't want to resort in making my own plushies but I guess I have to
"No ethical consumption under capitalism" really
I've only had a handful of bad experiences on eBay fwiw, and I've been using it since 2006.
I've gone through eBay somewhat recently to get items from LootCrate ElderScrolls boxes
you have the ability to make your own plushies?
secretly I'm trying to make Mankar Camoran into a knitted plushie
i know how to knit
Ebay pretty much is full of 90s era cruft the last I perused it in the 2010s
Aw cute!!!
i have no grey wool though so i cant make him that well >_>
Doesn't matter - still awwww
where does mankar have grey?
Help: so I just started playing elder scrolls V again and started some new characters, but they refuse to level up. I was able to level them both up to level two, but once the level up bar was full and a message popped up that I can level up my character, I went into the skill tree and it won't let me do anything. I tried to level up skills with an npc and that didn't fix anything. Then i leveled up through console commands and still no change. I know I can add perks and change max health/magica with commands, but it is really annoying to do that
any suggestions?
Hi, Madnoose! Are you using mods? This really sounds like a mod issue to me. If you are using mods, your best bet is to post your question in #skyrim-se-mods
are you running survival mode?
if so, you can only level up when sleeping
oh that's how it works in survival mode?
cool for nostalgia purposes
Yep
What is your favourite character in elder Scrolls? Let us know since we are working on new costume for our LARP Event, we could pick you suggestion!
divayth fyr or vivec
Divayth fyr is already in making !
As much as I dislike Oblivion's writing I've always thought that Martin was a rather intriguing character. I'll put in a second vote for Vivec as well. I imagine he would be a fun character to make a costume for. 🙂
Either Gelebor for me or Yagrum Bagarn
jagar tharn is the best character and no one can change my mind
i have other favourite characters but theres like,,, too many of em and they're not a disney villain
We actually already made a Martin septim costume !
Yep for our LARP set in the elder Scrolls universe and short web series
skyrim keeps crashing
Nerevar Indoril.
A low-born Dunmer who became the champion of not one, not two, but THREE Daedra, united Morrowind, made peace with the Dwemer, and potentially killed a god.
is Lift-her-tail from lusty argonian maid count as character ? 🤣
If you are looking to see if there are any positions available, you welcome to check here -> https://jobs.zenimax.com/
I would but I haven't even graduated yet 😅
Also twas a joke
One can never be too sure these days. 😉
Fair
probably you will graduated when tes vi begin production. 😄
Ahahhaha
Do you think they should continue the "one" final boss for TESVI or should there perhaps be say.. a team of bosses all working together or at least have mutually beneficial goals. Say three? If not that then maybe there are three possible main antagonists for the game, but depending on your actions/choices throughout the main questline, only one of them will be successful in becoming the true villain and your final nemesis.
Depends entirely on the story being told.
As soon as I'm more financially stable I plan on making a Dagoth Ur costume. More inspired by a mod than the vanilla model but still.
mask, loincloth, and body paint?
Mask and bodypaint/zentai combo yes, loincloth not so much. I'm designing the costume off the Dagoth Ur model from Bob's Diverse Dagoths.
okay, without loincloth I don'T think I wanna see it...
lol it's a skirt thing instead
no dagoth, you were supposed to defeat the empire, not join them!
(get it? cause roman)
Conan Ur
Shhhhh I am not going to conventions in a loincloth okay, nobody needs to see that
Oh I guess I can't link the image here. Well looking up the mod "Divine Dagoths" will give you an idea of what I'll be going for.
They already got house-building. Probably fort or town building too in the next game. But anyways, I hope they add in survivalist bushcrafting too for temporary housing. I'd like to get involved in that when I know I'm going to be out the cities and towns for a while exploring in the wilderness or dungeon delving. So I can setup my own camp basically anywhere. Though I wouldn't mind one location for a more permanent housing for that type we can expand on. Like if I'm doing a survivalist run, I might want to just use that for housing.
crafts bush
Oh I'd love if they let us make our own city
And we have to convince people to work there
And have our own smiths and enchanters
Followers available
Guards
Well, I know Todd was already thinking about letting people build their own forts way back in like 2007 based on the released concept notes by him. Something about letting other players visit your builds too.
And then of course we've gotten the Blades mobile game not too long ago with what it features in that regard
TES6: Economy Simulator
is it possible for a mod to DM me please? i have a question about posting content
For magic swords, you can have ability to actually swing the blade out the grip itself like a boomerang for targeting further away enemies, which it returns to your sword handle so it's like a hybrid sword-boomerang.
Hi, i have a cuestion with ESO. If i buy the gane, i have to buy all the dcl separate or i can buy them together, or they install them by themself? If i have to buy them, how much it cost them?
Shortly, how it works? 😅
Hi, sebatolca! We have an Elder Scrolls Online Discord. Your question should be posted over there. You can join their Discord by clicking on #official-sites 🙂
Thank youuuu
Do u think there will be more voice actors for tesvi vs skyrim?
probably
why its matter with more voice actors? hundreds VA for each hundreds NPC are not effective for production cost.
maybe we could get more emotion voice actors...
i dunno
i don't really care about voice actors
as long its not sounds like theater-like dialogue, i mean c'mon, i also expect elder scrolls is quite mundane.
Almost certainly, yes. Bethesda has been hiring a larger number of voice actors for each game from Oblivion to Fallout 4. I'm certain that trend will continue with TES VI.
In general, Bethesda and ZeniMax are hiring
last time i looked into the bethesda hiring stuff there were no artsy roles in england
I don't think voice actors are hired but contacted
dunno if the england part matters but i know theres a studio around here somewhere
I seriously doubt they'd be hiring voice actors for TES VI yet anyway.
they don't have lines yet
they don't have much of anything, maybe a vague idea of what the plot will be
yeah thats a late thing
like a outline?
that was the word I was looking for
Whatever the years of being in pre-production back in 2018 and now in the designing phase has brought them I guess
I'm pretty sure everyone here wants TES VI. 😆
i don't really care about tes 6. I just wanna get out of limbo
Skyrim 2: Conceptual Pipedream
TES VI I can't believe is after Starfield. When they do a full reveal for VI I still won't believe it
I want isekai anime elder Scrolls
there's definitely fanfic for that
isekai?
I've seen fanfic for isekai Elder Scrolls for sure
genre for people who transported to another world
TBH, we go through multiple worlds all the time, plus there are theories about the Prisoner i.e. the Player being something... else
||The Elder Scrolls was an Isekai all along if one of those theories was right||
One of my favourite Elder Scrolls Youtube video clips of all time. It involves the M'aiq the Liar from Morrowind as a kind of Doctor Who figure in this - it's also an elegant video delineating the evolution of Elder Scrolls games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMpkZAWczBQ
Watch M'aiq leave Elsweyr and travel through space and time to get to Skyrim. A long journey that will continue, but... Whats the next place to visit?? M'aiq doesnt know... Only Go-....Mr. Todd Howards knows.
M'aiq wants you to RATE AND COMMENT!!!
If you want to play Arena or Daggerfall without having to learn how to use DOSBox, download this ...
Imagine ages slipping on by and seeing places transforming by the century...
Imagine being the only one to still remember the Empire close to intact somewhere in Mournhold, to remember High Rock pre-Warp, to experience Vvanderfall pre-eruption, to see Cyrodiil pre-deforestation towards the present of being in Skyrim and being one of the few to still remember all that stuff...
Well, one can see how you can be branded as a liar ;)
(Funnily enough, this actually also made me understand Doctor Who the show better as well. It makes me feel far more for the Doctor than before)
Wouldn't that be something?
The Protagonist-born.
What if M'Aiq is actually an Aedra.
That would be interesting
He's not a daedric Lord, he's a daedric prince
And the ruler of our hearts
My heart is about 0.3 sheogorath big
And smells of cheese.
During the Mage's Guild questline in ESO, I ||wanted to go with Uncle Sheo, I feel at home in the Shivering Isles||
M'aiq is past that of both the Aedra and the Daedra, even the divines!
M'aiq might be the godhead of the Elder Scrolls universe
Given his ubiquity and appearances all over the place, I think this would be something awesome to explore.
It is also of note that M'aiq is highly fashionable, always ahead of the time, in the designer world
M’aiq has been told he has powers belonging to the gods. But M’aiq thinks this one thinks too much
How can anybody deny this??? :O
M'aiq is eternal, M'aiq is unshakeable, M'aiq is.
"And M'aiq saw that the firmament - as he wast flanked by the Void and Mundus - were duly touched by His feline ruach. He saith, "Nirn." as He belched upon speaking. That was its name. And the Lord M'aiq saw that it was good." The Book of M'aiq 1:1
"He saw that His burp hath become a force and He summoned forth the Aedra and Daedra in another stupendous eructation." M'aiq 1:2
"And these hosts called forth the Dragons in a celestial symphony of eructation. Out of the First Aedra's mouth sprang forth Akatosh and he spat out forth fire which created Time. And the Lord M'aiq saw that it was good." M'aiq 1:3
M'aiq is the Creator, confirmed
I mean it makes sense maiq has been in every game through every cataclysm thats happened. So he's at the minimum immortal if not invincible
M'aiq is, M'aiq was, M'aiq will be.
But who told you that ?
It was M'aiq wasn't it ?
Since M'aiq is M'aiq, if M'aiq decides something is so or at least thinks it is so, then it is so
But Mai'q knows Mai'q is a liar.
When does a tree know it's falling?
When it thinks "aww spit*
Is the new ES game using the exact same engine as Skyrim?
Or is it modified/new version?
If you mean TES VI, It'll be Creation Engine 2 which is a upgraded Skyrim and Fallout 4 Creation Engine
what if it'll use Creation Engine 3?
why would they use the same engine as skyrim when it was already upgraded twice
“hey we have something better lets use something older and less updated”
You could have just said 'No'.
fallout 4 may have used creation but its also very different
I hope TES VI has actual equipment slots
That are visable
Also please for the love of God let us sort our inventories
And have arrows get their own catagory
whay do you mean equipment slots
that seems very constricting to modding
and also actual used slots in a bethesda game arent consistent as they use them to show or hide body parts
He says, as skyrim has equipment slots
skyrim has equipment slots
Yes
but not visually
Yeah
because there is 30 something of them
I just want them to be Visable in some way
several are used for visual effects
I mean show the generally usable ones
ok but if you make it so you can only equip to those slots its constrictive
How?
because with the existing system if your insane you can set it up to equip a seperate item to every possible slot
with a system with hard slots to euip things like say diablo you can no longer do that
Why not?
because you have specific slots thwt things equip
I'm not suggesting hard slots, I'm suggesting the slots be Visable somehow
theyre visible on you
The one's that currently exist
What does FO4's look like
it has a simple paperdoll of the vault boy which has basic representstions of generic armor or clothes applied over him to show whats equiped where
in skyrim this wasnt neccesary as only secondary slots ever got taken up
Huh
there is 3 head slots
skyrim doesnt alwYs use all 3
but they all count as being on the head
Huh
hair head face
That seems overly complex
no its not
its why you can wear a circlet and it doesnt make your hair dissapear
but wearing a hood does
Ahhh
fallout 4 has items that take up different parts of the head slots
face eyes and head
but those all show up on the paper doll because those have various items that can take those slots seperately
you can wear a hat glasses and a facemask all at once in fallout 4
but some items take up both face slots
Tyropop, are you saying you want all weapons to be visible on our characters when they are equipped? If you are, then I agree with you. I annoys me to see staves "disappear" when they are sheathed.
YES
For example, I always dual wield
Yet there's only 1 sheath ever
And that's IF it shows up
Yes, that's another one that annoys me.
And it's be cool if we could set weapons that aren't equipped to be visable
I wanna look like I have 2 staves, a bow, arrows, 2 single handed weapons, a two handed weapon, and a shield
Yes that's overkill
No I don't think it'll happen
But it'd be super cool
is that engine limitation some equipment slot have to be hidden?
or elder scrolls is meant to be played on first person as equipment visual slot doesnt matter lol
It's not an engine limitation, it's a design choice
You COULD do it, but rigging it takes time and effort, which is sometimes better spent elsewhere
Yeah, but it'd be so cool
Some, sure. Personally, i think overloading characters with weapons makes them look absurd
Then again, if you're a pincushion of arrows and not taking any damage, it would look pretty intimidating
Which is why it should be AN OPTION
And i'm fine with that. So long as that option doesn't confer a mechanical advantage
skyrim actually has a function to display favorited gear on you
bDisablegearedup=1 change it to 0
its just a bit buggy
mostly cosmetically
you can have 1 sword 1 dagger 1 waraxe 1 mace 1 two hander and a bow
equipping things without sheathing them though… causes ghe weapons to not put away correctly
What if Elder Scrolls 6 was pushed back to 2028
then i expected its cover all tamriel 🙂
Isn't that what ESO was meant to be? 🙃
but i want 4th Era setting 😄
What if Elder scroll 6 was canceled and never happened?
Then it'll be a total falling out
The one where it's so far forward in time even the goblins are capable of space flight? Can't wait to use a flame touch spell on a space pirate to use up all the oxygen in their suit and watch them suffocate...
Space flight already exists, just say hi to your friendly neighborhood giant
Then again, do we need space flight when we have portals that can travel to other worlds/planets?
probably the story is about facing invasion of magna-ge creations by riding numidium mk.IV, and battle across time and space with alduin world-eater mode.
Frankly, that is not too far off from the release date I expect anyway. I expect TES VI to be released 4Q 2026.
Ask the Sunbirds/Mananauts
Please let there be a port of Skyrim (or at least Oblivion) for mobile platforms. Modern arm64 processors are worth it. Please🥺 🥺 🥺
It would be the best New Year surprise
or at least new questline for blades? 😄
Blades? But it does not have open world...
well not open in sense regular elder scrolls, at least people free to take any available quests.
Imagine mobile oblivion
it would be wonderful even with the original graphics
Oblivion is beautiful
well psp version can be ported as mobile lol
psp version was never released
also psp version wasnt a port of oblivion
Full longplay of one of the lesser known games in the Elder Scrolls series.
It is by far the worst one, almost unplayable. There is no sound, after a few steps the hero gets stuck and the only way to get him moving again is opening and closing the inventory.
This is the official release. There is a patched version that fixes this glitch but I ...
also there was a… mobile oblivion that existed
TES wont be complete until the oblivion mobile remaster hits the stores
I've successfully played Morrowind (only 30 minutes or so) on Android with admirable FPS using third-party emulators... It wasn't very convenient, but it was and is possible technically, i believe there will be an official port...
I heavily doubt it
also, Oblivion Mobile is not a mobile port of TES4, it's its own game with its own mechanics, and just a similar (albeit very abridged) story
openmw isnt an emulator
i was using ExaGear RPG - it crashed after those 30 minutes, and i wasn't able to make it work again.
why not just… use openmw
thanks, i didn't know it was available for mobile.
Hey guys, whenever i try and scroll in skyrim it jumps right to the bottom or the top. Can someone help me fix it???
For PC
Do you play Skyrim in Windowed mode or not? Try using different one.
try both with borders and without
Tried it in windowed mode and still had the same issue
sorry, don't know then.
all good, thanks anyway
Hi I’m new can someone tell me why I can’t log into the Skyrim creation club
Site issues that everyone is having
it is being investigated
How long will that take
I guess a few hours maybe a day at most
Ok
Live on twitch with more Morrowind! Today's tasks: More Ald'Ruhn Mages guild, now including Dwemer Ruins! https://twitch.tv/fenharellan13
I was playing Oblivion, got hit by a Bandit's Iron Warhammer, and got a notification that my Intelligence was being drained. Which got me wondering, in-universe, how do you think that feels?
painful i'd bet
Our characters will probably be too stupid to notice the difference. 😁
sudden headache
best mode for roleplay?
"mode"?
i think it will be released late 2023, or 2024
you think they'll get it done in one year?
that'll be a very rushed game then... no, thanks
Anyone else cant play console skyrim due to having 1 frame per minute ?
pokemon, psyduck, slowpoke, talking, discussion, amnesia, confusion, fifty, seven, minutes, question, mark, pingas, oh, god, make, stop, youtube
No think, head empty concussed.
Hey guys I was playing the quest temple of miraak and when I pick up the black book my game crashes every time. Is there any solution available?
Merry Christmas everyone and have an Happy New Year's!!!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Life Festival to all, and have a Happy New Year's! 🙂
Hey guys and gals, I had an idea... my friends told me that it was absolutely crazy and suicidal to do in Skyrim Special Edition for the PS4. Those words were all it took to convince me that I had to do it.
I plan on doing a shield only build in Skyrim
Focusing on shield bash? I'm not sure if that 5x damage skill would really do much but I haven't tried it. You'd have to play on a pretty low difficulty and focus solely on stamina and health
I plan on using the Auriel's Shield, healing spells, telekinesis, detect dead, and detect life. Sadly that means that I have to cheat in order to get the shield, telekinesis, and two detect spells. But other than that I don't plan on using any other weapon. Not even against the dragons.
I don't play Skyrim on any difficulty other than Legendary with the Curse Mod active.
I know I'm insane... but that's nothing new lol.
I will have a few mods active but the only cheat mod will be the Saints and Seducers Cheat room for obtaining the 3 spells and sheild
I mean shield
the spirit of the dark souls dual-shielders shall guide you
Lol I will probably need the guiding
Though I don't know what to name the character. I have a Imperial- For Combat and Magic skills. The character is a male like myself. Unlike myself he is muscular.
If no one has any suggestions then I'll just go with the Latin word for shield, "Clypeus"

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Has been out for a while now, but I don't think I have seen someone attempt to take on this challenge. In Skyrim there are multiple ways to beat the game, but today we will attempt to beat it using only Shield Bash. I know that sounds crazy, but I believe it is and can be possible. This is my first video on Skyrim, and ...
Sorry if this is in the wrong place!
I’ve put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Skyrim and I want to try elder scrolls online, is there a good place to go to learn the basics and understand the game better?
Edit: someone please @ me because I’m going to bed, thanks!
You should check #official-sites for ESO
but well you could start by reading here https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:First_Time_Players
Why is the farm for the farming cc right next to a imperial camp? Wut
why do the imperials camp next to your farm?
Why are the imperial camping anyway, did you had whiterun over to the stormcloaks?
Yes
Id just set the leader of that camp to unessential and kill him but according to the kill all generals mod its the one general thats actually needed for a quest
Friendly weekly reminder to anyone in Bethesda who sees this, please add native controller and achievement support to steam for Oblivion and fallout 3.

Wow...Guild Wars 2 ost would have fit a loy better with ESO than ESO ost.
Random question for anyone that sees this. What is your favorite Elder Scrolls game (including ESO) and why?
These days my favorite Elder Scrolls game is Skyrim. But Morrowind is a very close second.
Why do I like Skyrim the best? First, I like the game world. I knew this was a game world I would soon fall in love with the minute I stepped out of Helgen for the first time. I think the look of armor, clothing, faces, hair, weapons, ect, is the nicest in the series so far. I still like Morrowind's architecture the best, but Skyrim is a close second.
Second, the writing. I think that - with the possible exception of Morrowind's main quest - Skyrim boasts the best writing in the series. Dialogue, characterization, plot, themes, I think all of it is a vast improvement over the earlier games. My only criticism of the writing is that the guild questlines are too short.
Third, the game mechanics. I love the classless character advancement approach taken by Skyrim. I love many of the new features like the perk system, dual-wielding, runes, secondary effects attached to elemental damage, smithing, shouts, standing stones, random world interactions, and other features. About the only thing I would bring back from earlier games, gameplay-wise, is spellcrafting and (a very heavily-modified version of) the previous games' eight attributes.
Ok, here's a thing i know is going to be controvercial... I've been playing a lot of FF14 lately, and i gottasay... I absolutely adore crafting.
You cou;dn't carry it over as-is, but i think taking inspiration and building it out to be something ofa mini-game in it's own right could be spectacular, if done right
More likely to take inspiration from ESO
I am aware, but honestly... ESO's crafting is vastly inferior
i find it better than wow at least, though never cared about crafting in swtor to judge it and never touched ff14 to judge them either. still dont stop me from wasting all my gold to learn exotic furniture plan in eso^^
For laymen, how does FF14 work?
Question....how does one play as an Imperial?
Looks like I need to buy something, but for the life of me I'm not sure exactly what.
Imperial upgrade...gotcha.
depends heavily on the game...
Think hes refering to ESO
You need to buy the Imperial Upgrade from the crown store
I'm just annoyed by people asking game-specific questions in game-unspecific channels without specifying the game...
Yea.. I seen your other response
I'm just going to say, this server needs ToddBot
I think so too but he's a bot impersonating Todd, impersonation of Bethesda staff being against the server rules.
That makes sense.
Is Todd related memes even acceptable on this server? I would figure it be a hard no
Still sad though.
True.
Lfg on PlayStation. Have done all the quests in base game and have a few areas where I need help defeating group bosses. Thanks
are you referring on ESO? its on the #official-sites my friend
Thanks
todd bot is the single most annoying bot i ever dealt with
Danke 🙂
I like him, mostly since I found out how to "communicate" with him. Maybe it's due to the rest of that server's chat being quiet, I dunno.
Dark Souls: Pathetic.
Question....anyone know if the latest MacOS has any problem running ESO?
I recommend asking on ESO's server. Bethesda -> game-discord-servers -> elder scrolls online. #official-sites
Willdo thanks.
And here it is... the full reveal of a soon-to-come work: The Elder Scrolls: Bound Fate, written by me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbxOtbpI3-s
The Last Dragonborn has defeated Alduin and ended countless other threats. However, their work is far from over. War still rages across all of Hammerfell, where the reformed Dominion vies for control of the final region of Tamriel left to conquer. The time has come for this final threat to be eradicated... but can the Dovahkiin do it alone? Just...
Does anyone know how to install the patch for skyrim from scratch? my game crashes in two places and I read that a patch would fix it but i dont know how
If it crashes when entering Dawnstar Museum and/or Kolbjorn Barrow (on PC), then i recommend waiting for the official patch that is to come. #content-news
Sorry, that was entirely my bad, i should have gone into more detail. It's basically a mini-game on top of a more recognizable crafting system.
When you craft something for the first tme, it consumes the resources, but requires you 'Manually' make the item. The names are wonky, likely due to translation issues, but you have actions such as Synthesis; increases progress towards finishing said item and Tough; increases quality of said item.
Once you've made an item once, you can mass produce them without having to go through the mini game, but if you want to optimise your crafting to create high quality items, you can repeat the in-depth process for more manual control.
On it's own, its a far more engaging system than any other crafting model i've played with... But combined with something like Fallout 4's modular crafting, it could create something really spectacular.
It feels like ESO crafting with Lazy Writ Crafter and that master writ crafting at a glance, but having not played it, I can only speculate.
Quite different. To go into more detail, when you're doing manual crafting you get an interface which tracks 4 basic stats. Progress, Quality, Durability and Condition.
In order to complete an item, you need to reach 100% Progress.
Durability is a restriction on the number of actions you can take. Most items have 80 Durability, with each action taking 10, meaning at base (before abilities) you have 8 actions to complete your item before it's ruined.
Quality is the likelyhood of your item coming out as High Quality, with increased value and stats.
Condition is a random modifier which servers as a trigger for other abilities.
The percentage rate with crafting is what bothers me. Had that in another mmorpg I played and the % failed often. Gives me rng ptsd 🤒
Your basic Synthesis action takes 10 Durability, and increases Progress by a rate dependent on your Craftsmanship Skill. the higher the level of the item and materials, the more it's progress value, so there's a functional limit on your ability to craft high level items at low levels.
Your basic Touch Action also takes 10 Durability, and increases the Quality bar, making it more likely to result in a High Quality Item.
Added to this, you have abilities which can restore durability, or be chained together for greater effect (such as the Touch Actions) at the cost of Crafting Points, as well as abilities which can restore CP when the Condition is Good or better. So it becomes a sort of puzzle game to getthe best item possible.
Oh, yeah, you can definitely run risks with % systems. To it's credit, FF14 does let you get that to 100% with some planning.
But the system would absolutely need to be tweaked.
Yea it would be. To get to 100% became an overly tedious chore
It offsets it a bit by also having high quality materials which give a bonus, uo to 50%. So, for instance, if something requires 4 Steel ingots, and you use 4 HQ Steel, you start the process at 50% quality. Making it much easier to get to 100%
Some are real greedy though and slap another % chance on top of that 100% succes so you still may not get what you wanted
Oh, yeah. I'm not one for random percentage systems. If something gives you a value, it had better be that value, no background hidden modifier percentages
Part of the reason i absolutely hate how Armour works in most RPGs
whats up my Pyandonean friends
I cant wait to have some fun tomorrow when its finally time to go home
and visit my sea elf friends
sea...mer?
we're sailing the hobbits to Isengard!
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, an MMO, used to have a mini-game crafting system. My wife loved it. She said it was the best crafting system she'd ever played (unfortunately, Sony shut the game down a few years ago). Here's a very simplified version of its crafting system:
You gathered your materials together (buy purchasing them or harvesting them yourself), go to a crafting station, place these items along with any required utilities and catalysts on your crafting table and begin the mini-game. You have a timer and action points, both based on character skill. During crafting complications may occur. If it does, the player hits one of several buttons that will apply a remedy to make that complication disappear before they run out of action points. This is hard in the beginning and almost always results in a low-quality version of the item. But it all becomes easier as your character progresses in skill (and which results in higher-quality items more regularly).
Vanguard had three continents to begin the game on, based on the player's choice of race. Each continent had its own style of weapons and armor. You start out crafting in the style of your character's continent. To learn the style of a different continent, you had to travel to that continent and do a series of quests for the trainers there before they would teach you new recipes. This was not always easy. Some races hated each other and were kill-on-sight to your race. If a trainer was located in a city that hated your character's race you would first have to do a series of quests to gain favor with that city before you could talk to the trainer. Getting all of the crafting recipes form all three continents was virtually a main quest all by itself.
Here is a short little video showing a bit of the crafting process in action:

meanwhile me just not bothering and buying mats in auction house then slap craft button or just buy the item directly in auction house if i happen to not want to bother with the chore of leveling a crafting profession^^'
A lot of people will get mad over this observation, please stand by. I swear, I just realized this
Uncomfortable Elder Scrolls Observation:
The visual and animation progression from Morrowind onward kinda looks like those offshore bargain bin CG movie series that gradually improves over time in fidelity since their writing team starting putting effort into the films and bringing in more money to the studio.
Braces for hate
Well to be fair Skyrim and Oblivion wern't known for their graphics
Castle Quest: Land of the Dark Elves
Castle Quest: Gates of Oblivion
Castle Quest: Dragons Rising
lol
Wait you are talking about the graphics right?
Yeah, how the animations and visuals changed from morrowind to skyrim
I mean Fallout 4 I would say is the best game BGS made Graphically, a lot of the character's Textures and appearances in the game were on par with other potpular games
only played skyrim and eso personally (and watched friend play morrowind) from what i have seen, eso have way better graphic. es6 can't do worse imo
VaultPocalpyse: The Commonwealth
like how fallout jumped from average graphic in 3 to really good in 4, i expect the same for next elder scroll compared to skyrim
Fallout 3 has really aged the worse out of every Bethesda game
Even morrowind is more graphically watchable than... that
yea also expect starfield to have improved graphics
Wait until we see the optimized assets
Kinda like how Halo Infinite's discover hope trailer had noticable downgrades in the final product
Graphic and animation style kinda subjective eh.
I mean i prefer nice looking graphic and flashy animation stay my fave jrpg games.
I play elder scrolls for FREEDOM
That... was way more pertinent to Skyrim than i intended it to be

I teased it like yesterday lmao
I legit thought this was a TESVII teaser until I saw it was ESO
do what you want cause a Pyandonean is free YOU ARE A SEA ELF
It's not Pyandonea, since the armor from the person on land is definitely Bretonic

You know what's interesting, popular MMOs like WoW and Final Fantasy 14 have recently focused on cosmic-tier high stakes questlines. In comparison, this looks refreshing because ESO appears to be doing the complete opposite by having this expansion focus on simple political intrigue.
it's about time, I'm happy they got the message

that emoji
well im actually not convinced about Pyandonea
could be High Isles as well
I see sea, but no elves... are you sure it isn't Sea Humans?
From what I can see, based on the image of the video, at the 0:01 mark to be exact. The landscape of that map appears to be Hammerfell with High Rock at the top right corner of the video. Given that the ships are heading west, by my estimate they're probably heading towards one of the islands such as Herne, Cespar, The Chain, Vandor, or the Sestres. Mind you these islands are about the same size as Stros M'kai by estimate.
I would say they may also be going to Yokuda, but given the timeline with the entire land sinking into the sea by the First Era with ESO taking place in the Second Era, it's unlikely. Although there is a possibility that the landmass south of Yokuda is still there in the ocean body called the Sea of Pearls with such locations as Zamsar, Nalonga, Asul Ydur, Suol Ydur, and Ravan.
Yeah, that's the map. So if I'm correct, they're porting off around the south western part of Hammerfell, which could either be from Stros M'kai or some other sea dock city such as Gilane. I would also say Hews Bane but unless they went around the landmass at Abah's Landing or managed to retake Thrall Cove or the No Shira Citadel, the first two ports are the more likely.
With that said, based on this here map and what I could tell with that cinematic trailer, we're looking at the possibility of going to the islands at the Abecean Sea, or head out even further and go to the land masses at the Sea of Pearls.
Looks like deja vu
More Morrowind tonight, hopefully without the power issue from yesterday. Last I recall, I was going to grind some Destruction skill... https://twitch.tv/fenharellan13

Hmm, the theorycrafting for the next chapter sound amazing, lots of islands that could work out
From The Doors of Oblivion:
Some exist, but cannot be entered safely. The whirlpool in the Abecean called the Maelstrom of Bal can make ships disappear, and it may be a portal into Oblivion, but the trauma of riding its waters would surely slay any who tried.
similar to the fleet who raided the sload and got stuck in a maelstrom and ended in coldharbor?
Apparently that relates back to the All Flags Navy, yes 😛
While the chapter/storyline likely won't involve a world-ending threat, there are likely still threats, historical or otherwise, that people need to deal with as they fight over whatever the macguffins, land/ocean, etc?
it's pirate time! hunting some treasure, sail the ship, duel in the boat
the three ship, one for each alliance seemed to team up and sail toward the knight's island. wonder what bad guy that knight represent to warrant faction uniting? 🤔
war need funding, it's feel interesting if they on race to seek some pirate treasure
i'm ebouheart pact and i understand why they picked a nord ship, but man it look pathetic compared to the other 2 warships hey guys, wait for me, my canoe can't go that fast ^^'
Honestly it looks like War of the Isle.
I thought it was sailing south from Summerset to Pyandonea, but I could be wrong.
Ending part kinda reminds of that whole Green Lady Finoriell drama with that mysterious Maromer warrior: "As she lay dying atop the highest sea-tower, the Sea Elves' greatest warrior came to claim her head as a trophy."
All hail the Serpent God of Satakal in the Veil of Mist
Anyone generous enough to turn me into a werewolf? Fairly new to the game with no gold or much to offer other than my thanks.
sounds like you want the ESO server, there's a link in #official-sites
think you can't talk in the official eso server
Should probably add, while the armor is definitely Breton, that doesn't necessarily mean it's one of those islands up that way of High Rock or Hammerfell. Furthermore, who's to say the Sea Elves' greatest warrior was a Sea Elf, and not a Breton? How or why they are down in Pyandonea, ..well that's a story to be told soon.
unless there some hidden hint, do we even know which direction they where sailing? lot of island/small continent all around tamriel,no?
so much possibility depending which cardinal direction they picked
With eso, it's not always exactly accurate.. Try to focus on the bigger picture
since dlc, i'm counting biggest landmass out by principle (atmora and that continent with taesci at least) though i may be totally wrong who know
But anyway the majority believe it to be some island west of HF/ HR. As you can see what I wrote above, I feel it's Pyandonea.
though the maomer island could work, from what little i know it a moderate sized archipelago, should work for it, and maomer npc are everywhere already in eso
And the mysterious warrior is so blank on information that it's completely open to how they want to write it
and at bare minimum, the dominion (and with some stretch the ebonhearth pact) could have a motivation to sail south to stop them raiding since it affect both?
Yes you can read about the War of the Isle. The Psijic order summoned this freak storm to end it.
isnt that something that happen way later in timeline or i'm misremembering?
I think it ended on 3rd era, but doesn't eso have a range anyway with its dlc?
It's a spin off game anyway
Not to mention the maromer were a threat to tamriel as well, not just summerset. Orgnu was making dealings with the wolf queen after they took over summerset, they would conquer tamriel next and she would be empress. Oh and they slept together 👀
And you see the three banners on the ships. EB painting the sails red instead lol
the little drakkar yes. my mind was like why we got a canoe when the other got a gallion or close to one? then brain woke up and whispered viking, nord but still
all my character are ebonheart because argonian, but that one time, i prefer what breton/elves can field >.>
also was like in beginning hey guys, wait for me, i dont have three mast worth of sail to zoom like you all 🤣
😂
If we’re going to Pyodonea then we better be getting new races. >: (
I created an idea for a creation club creation for a trip to Pyrandonea, but that was in the old forums before it closed.
It is my deepest fear that any trip to Pyodonea results in just another generic Summerset style
Well, no... a revival of fascism and WWIII are my deepest fear, but in the context of TES, the recycling of bland and uninspiring visual motifs ranks pretty high up there.
You said the same about Hammerfell and Akavir if I recall 😋
But it's an MMO, so I'm honestly not expecting much from a spin-off with it's main focus being on the online aspect of it. So if they add some sort of naval pvp with that TES theme backing, that'd be kinda cool. Though even that I wouldn't expect it to be as nice as an actual naval pvp game.
But really anytime they step out of Tamriel it'll catch my interest. So if it is Pyandonea, that gives me hope we'll eventually explore besides Tamriel, Tamrielic territories, or planes of Oblivion, lol.
Fair enough. I have a great many fears when it comes to TES... Bland generic repition of tired tropes form the basis of many of them
You'll find a trope here and there in most creative work. But for the most part Nirn is a pretty unique world. I suspect they'll do well with the next TES with lots of tech to play with.
I've been disappointed by BGS's inspiration for the last 2 games. Zenimax Online has generally done better, buuuut... They dropped the ball with both the Altmer and Bosmer
Who are both about as uninspiring and generic as you can get
It's a work in progress, I think BGS has learned a lot over the years in their new territory explorations
Let's hope it's the right lessons
Don't want them to be like Blizzard, and take all the wrong lessons
Learning means nothing unless you learn right.
Yes I'd like to see some interesting with the Bosmer and others, but it's an MMO and MMO's tend to be massively generic 🤪
They did really well with the Argonians, Bretons, Dunmer, Redguard and even the Imperials and Nords though. And the Khajiit... MmmMMM
But then... The Altmer and Bosmer are, well... Bog standard boring ass High Elves and Wood Elves.
Hmm, not sure why they did it that way then? But if they did well with some races then it's a plus as that's not commonly done well in MMO's. Then again it is helpful having a rich world like TES to build on in that matter.
I don't know if there is a right or wrong when most is perspective or the majority wins. Different things work for different people. But if it only pleases a small crowd when you were aiming for a wider crowd, then yeah it's probably a failure in that aspect.
True, but there's also the issue of... People often don't actually know what they like until exposed to something. You never know, if you don't try
Morrowind is a great example of this. It's far from your normal Fantasy setting, and it's one of the most beloved in gaming now
Well that's just simply people being stuck in their own little bubbles. You don't have to like or agree with something, but at least give it the respect to hear it out, you'll still learn something from those kind of interactions.
Yes, Morrowind has been highly praised. I think some typically still favor it over the more recently-popular Skyrim
Mechanically it's an absolute mess. But the world building legitimately makes you want to explore and learn more
And it rewards you for doing so. Compare that to Oblivion, where everything in the world is surface level and there's no cultural or historical depth. Even the scattered rederences to Alessia are just that. References. There's nothing more to them
Yes, I'd love to see all of Nirn and beyond in that franchise universe, but I know it takes time
And feeling that sense of self reward in a game is great to have too, in even the smallest tidbits and not like just major quests. If game done well, you'll typically find that
It's more thangoing beyond Nirn. For instance, each and every Saint in Morrowind has a backstory covered somewhere in the game. It creates a history and depth of setting that rewards the player for delving into it.
Oblivion... Lacks all of that. it is the barest sort of worldbuilding, where nothing really has any story or development or identity.
What I mean is it's a rich world and with each new bit it grows the hunger of wanting to see more of it. Like a frenzy 🤪
And Skyrim was, unfortunately, only just barely above the barrel-scrapings that was Oblivion
