Just add a "+" in there since thats the thing to do these days lol
The game is already in pre production. I hope it takes place in hammerfell and high rock
Hammerfell would be great. I want to learn more about the Redguard Sword Singers.
Ik a little bit of the lore but does hammerfell have fairies?
I'm rooting for High Rock, but would gladly take both provinces. Someday I'd love to see Valenwood properly fleshed out tho. Argonia and Summerset too
Where do I report a bug for elder scrolls 5 Nintendo switch?
Thanks
Regarding ESO is there any story content that can be played with friends or is it all instanced?
Yes. You can share your current quests with anybody in your party so long as they're eligible. Though a party member might not be eligible if they have already completed the quests or they are part of a main or faction quest line.
Main quest line you mean the vanilla questline?
The one of molag bal?
Yup!
Thank you very much for the response. I will now probably play with my brother then.
Because that was what was holding me back.
You're welcome! There is so much to explore and do, so if you and your brother decide to do other side quests or writs, you can pick up where you left off on the main quest journal.
Just make sure that you are the same alliance!
What alliance did you choose?
Nice!
Not*
Nope, just alliance
Does that mean we can choose any race and be of whatever alliance?
You can choose whatever alliance or race you want but make sure that you and your bro do have the same alliance though
Now the Molag bal quest line, there will be instances where you will need to complete them on your own but you and your brother can complete it at the same time. Lol if that makes sense
I know we did until sancre tor.
Perfect!
Nice! Have you tried High Isle yet?
Huh no.
I stopped buying dlcs in greymoor.
Because there was a lot of content we have to play before.
Those are always the best time to get them! 😁
And no worries, there is plenty of content to keep you busy for awhile
I bought 1 tamriel a long time ago and got a huge house.
Visijic or something.
Pisjic villa.
Psijic*
My brother didn't buy this pack.
He had the game before.
Love it! Grand Psijic Villa! Beautiful home!
Sometimes houses can come on the crown store
Lol nope! Hay! If we can' t have one on real life, we can have them in these games!
We only waste crowns on zone dlcs which are exclusive to crown store.
I don't recall any by name but there are some.
Awesome to the max!

You're welcome! 😃
Hey everyone I’m new here. I was wondering if someone might be able to help me with a Skyrim quest. Any Skyrim players out there that can help me would be amazing! I play on Nintendo switch if it helps. The quest is ‘Under Saarthal’ and I’m at the part where Tolfdir has weakened Jyrik so I can kill him but it’s glitched so I just can’t kill him. I’ve tried everything possible I’ve waited and played weeks of gameplay then came back and it’s the same story. I can’t reload on an old save as I deleted all old saves and also have played soooo much since then I’d lose all my progress. Any help would be amazing thanks guys
Try #skyrim-chat, see if someone in there has any info for you
Thanks will do
I believe we need the ability to create our own spell scrolls. Just like we can with blank paper in Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind.
At least in Elder Scrolls 6.
At least making your own spell scroll is quite a fun way to use it for any convenance. Or for an outright challenge.
oh you mean spellcrafting? yeah, skyrim magic kinda different with perks and dual hand cast system. like how the mechanic gonna work? how to value damage and cost? its not gonna be like old titles.
If you want to create your own elder scroll, try reading the text printout of a save file for one of these games.
Spellcrafting definitely should make a return because it'll allow magic to be more viable at higher levels, especially if the crafting system for regular gear is fairly similar. Magic gets weak in Skyrim without breaking Alchemy once you reach a certain point.
Of course, they could totally change the system, and that'd be just as good too (I hope).
I think skyrim magic just fine, they have less cost on higher level, so you have to spam more.
Oh or is this just for higher difficulty level?
Provided its not in both hands, I liked it in Oblivion more tbh.
I like Morrowind's Magic better, so that way you can make extremely powerful spells. Of course it can be too much for your character to use it.
Skyrim's magic mechanics with Oblivion's spellmaking and Morrowind's spell variety is the system I want.
Can someone help me when I try to enter the mods in skyrim it appears that it was not possible to connect to Bethesda servers
I like the freedom. They've already opened up character creation and roles, let me custom my spells too 🙂
For sure. None of the games have better mechanics for the magic than Skyrim, but magic feels the weakest in Skyrim for a variety of reasons... unfortunately.
If they do Hammerfell next or at some point, I hope they include Yokuda in the base game too. Assuming we get a ship, I'd like to have a big area and more purpose for using it. I know they got the bay, but honestly doesn't seem like there is enough there. Also, Yokuda (since it's sunk) could be kinda like a lost city of Atlantis feel.
I really wish the next game wasn’t an exclusive
Never played ESO but it looks sick
I love ESO. It's my thrid-favorite Elder Sctolls game (after Morrowind and Skyrim). I'm very excited for this new Necrom expansion.
Already prepurchased the Necrom Deluxe, looking forward to seeing how they reimagine parts of Apocrypha, and going beyond what we saw in TESV's Dragonborn DLC.
So are the dlcs free to play now? Except for high isles....I may have heard it wrong on the stream
Like I said, there are some desires I have if I were to play it. Not for me,(But that doesn't mean don't play it, so please understand)
For me I prefer TES games over Fallout (single-player), and F76 over ESO. 🤷♂️
ESO+ free trial going on until January 31 I think, covers almost every DLC, though not the latest Expansion (High Isle).
Now if there was a weapon customization(Color of hilt witin reason, type of sword it is big fat or just regular long sword etc) I might be tempted but I'm good.
I do not wish for its failure. ✊
31st?
Yes, typo
Eso reveal was amazing 🤩
There is an optional subscription that confers a few bonuses. Otherwise ESO is buy to play: purchase the game once and play free after that. It is available on XBox Game Pass.
so ive only played skyrim amongst all the ES games. what makes the other protagonists special? like skyrim's is the last dragonborn so what about the rest
My interpretation is that we are nobody special in Arena and Daggerfal. The protagonists in those games appear to be regular people who have been tasked, for plot reasons, with righting wrongs. In Morrowind we have been chosen by the goddess Azura to be the reincarnation of an ancient Dunmer hero. In Oblivion we are again an ordinary person, but one who has appeared to the Emperor in his dreams.
None of these protagonists are gifted with special powers like the Dragonborn (with the possible exception of the protagonist in Morrowind, who acquires permanent immunity to disease during the main quest).
ahhh okay, that is interesting. thanks
Well oblivion protagonist obviously a madman/woman who dare to enter oblivion gates so many times.
In ESO we're less of a chosen one and more so just someone that happened ||to maintain enough of their mind and body after getting killed by Mannimarco and having our soul stolen by Molag Bal||. I.E. less about prophecy, but just someone that fit the bill.
I'm not a mad man >.>
The wiki's entry on The Vestige is wild. It's hilarious to think of everything the player can do in that game as canon, as if historians were unaware that multiple heroes close to the events all qualified as soulless.
It's like reading everyone's first playthrough of Oblivion as a teenager. "Yeah! I'm a mage warrior thief assassin vampire that solved everyone's problems across the breadth of Cyrodiil and then saved the world! And then became a god!"
Hello, where can I find an idea forum for Elder Scrolls in game development suggestions?
I developed needs through thinking an mod integration that no longer can be satisfied by the normal ES game design.
I want do participate in the process to match player needs better or again.
ES6 needs to have each strand of hair rendered. Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 has peach fuzz hair strands individually rendered on Aloy's face and probably other AI too.
Anyone know why it sounds like a constant windstorm that is the so loud that it is hard to hear the dialogue in game and even the television show audio from my girls TV, the overwhelming wind in eso is constant and louder than other sounds, like on purpose to sound like it's surrounding you?
Dead Space 2023 remake has virtually no baked lighting. Hope ES6 does this too.
Hi, buffkitton! This is a Discord for the single-player Elder Scrolls games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. If you have a question about Zenimax Online Studio's game called Elder Scrolls Online you may post your question on their forums. You can find them here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en
Ok sorry and ty
Couple of questions that have probably been asked a million times. How easy is it to co op? Is it just the main campaign that's sp? Also how does dungeons work for low level peeps? Thanks
What are you talking about
Lol it's ok
I have seen a game that has the best tree cutting and digging animations ever.
ES6 needs these.
IMO Gameplay is more important than any graphics or animations, for TES series, more freedom to living in tamriel.
But no TES game has a tree cutting animation or digging. Skyrim has the wood splitting animation at wood blocks or saw mills. I would love to dig holes and make tunnels in TES6 or cut any trees in the forest down. TES6 for a 2027ish game should give us more freedom to build off of the forests.
Hey i'm having trouble with the acces code mail on TESo 😦
Hi there! This server is for BGS created TES games. For ESO, they have their own forums. But for that issue, here's some troubleshooting: https://beth.games/3Y9IDyn
im having issues linking my game to my steam version ive made a ticket already
Hi folks. Just a request... I posted a question in the Skyrim section. I hope any of you can answer. Thanks.
I thought about the tunneling thing too for home crafting and such. Would love to make my own tunnels, as well as just working with the underground too besides just building on the surface. Build pit fall traps too.
If trees were more orchestrated or tied to say a survival skill or mode, that could be a thing too. You have to discover and learn all the tree types and what they can provide you.
I personally ain't touching any of the Hearthfire homes anymore. No sir.
Ooh, they could put stuff in the ground too like insects for alchemy or particularly larger creatures that come out the ground to eat you 😱
I'm stick to houses in walled cities, thank you very much.
Not gonna lie tho, I would lmao everytime if we could set tree traps that whiplash & send enemies flying. WHAM 😂
In general, a variety of wilderness trapping would be most useful for passive hunting while you're busy doing other things and could maybe help with some foes too, maybe some humor too with some of them.
i want to become something like overseer in elder scrolls, RP as evil warlock, kidnap people, put them on experiment lol
Trailerkin, to an extent, we already have that through Volkihar castle.
ah really? i never take vampire side during dawnguard.
Hmm would be cool if we get to be a guard at a prison for once, add a questline to it. Become Warden, do whatever you want with the prisoners lol. Could also add to corruption, like getting away with crimes and other corrupted guards
TrailerKin, yes we do. You get to have human cattle. Morally repulsive, but fitting for evil roleplays.
I've personally never took vampire side in Dawnguard, but that's a common thing to be said on the loading screen.
Dude, we have that on Dark Brotherhood. lol
I was shocked when I discovered it.
Yea, but like actual town guard tho and involved with the other town guards system throughout the province
Help ppl find their stolen
Basically that Telvanni wizard from the Solstheim DLC lol
master neloth not that evil
They shoulda let us go full bat. I wouldn't mind a lil "banjo-kazooie" animal transformations. I mean we got Werewolf
I did like that one mod where you can be a werebear(I love bears apparently now)
I'm roleplaying a daedra-hating orc right now. lol. He's getting rid of beast blood as soon as he can... I actually haven't progressed on companions that far yet for this PS3 campaign of mine...
My PS4 is doing a big Skyrim update. It's taking three hours or more.
I got a PS5. Can PS5 play PS4 and PS3 games?
That would be a cool spell. They got slow time, but what about manipulating the time of a target or enemy making it go backwards in time a few seconds?
Honestly man, any form of time manipulation by a hero in any fictional universe is just overpowered...
But I guess that's the point of being the Dragonborn. Shrug
Eh, I think that can be solved. It can work on non Deity level entities(Mortals obviously being easy but a decent mage might be able to sense the Magic at work). People like Molog Bol though seeing time manipulation. ".....You think that crap fools me?"
Well, maybe an enchanted helmet that evades the effects. By wearing it, time doesn't slow down for you...
It's the only way our Hero of Kvatch becomes powerful. Otherwise, he's nothing more than a seasoned mercenary. And there's a lot of that in Elder Scrolls.
But with Sigil Stones enchanting, the Hero of Kvatch becomes extremely powerful. This is of course before the Shivering Isles stuff.
That's another one I thought would be a cool spell for sneaky types. Doppelganger (basically you temporarily clone yourself too look like somebody else you interacted with or killed).
Anyway, any of you wanna tell me about your characters? I always enjoy hearing them from other players.
Sounds like Illusion Magic.
I'd do it on Reddit, but that place has no sense of community.
Generally 🤪
Lol
well my character is trailerborn, the guy from trailer. a bit mercenary with strong sense of adventure. you know.. boring stuff lol
All I'll give is, he's from High Rock, human and not the Dragonborn despite game mechanics saying he is. >.>
never once finishing all factions main quest in 1 character, this time i'll try to.
I'll roleplay a vigilant of stendarr in my new campaign. No Dragonborning. Just some guy who wanders around and help people while hunting down daedra and other abominations.
Dawnguard sounds like the perfect fit for him but... I'm dreading the trip to Aurum Vale with Survival Mode on. Holy hell that sounds terrifying.
I've generally wanted to be a bandit at some point (like there's some big bad bandit leader head honcho guy out there all the other bandit attacks and such go back to. Then, you got the lesser-organized independent bandits just doing their own thing). Problem is Thieves guild kinda is that already in a way. I guess they could make it like a sub-part of the bandit commuity that broke off and formed their own unit). But yeah thieves steal and that's about it, generallythere to take care of the more "illegal" matters. As a bandit you should be able to do a lot more and burn down villages as if you were Alduin 😆 Basically anti-story/mainquest completely, but beyond all the destruction perhaps some goal (I mean what do bandits want? Everything and to rule?).
living in the wilds, raid villages or caravans, avoid guards.
Wonder if they're doing something similar with the Crimson Fleet of Starfield? 🤔
For next TES? probably, i mean if their setting is hammerfell and seafaring is feature 😄
I'd be so satisfied with simply sending peeps to "walk the plank" right off into the jaws of some hungry wereshark, or into jagged rocks below
Or you know, shackle a cannonball around their ankle and bon voyage!
I know they never really tie-in the previous chapter with the next beyond loose lore.. but say for TESVI, the game or Xbox or profile on cloud (or something of the like) detects if you played Skyrim or earned a certain achievement beating the main quest. Thus, there is a chest in the very beginnings of TESVI that contains perhaps a special weapon, armor, or item(s) special or unique (it'll be empty if you hadn't played the previous game or earned the achievement) from Skyrim as a token for supporting their previous games and just a cool sense of prestige?
or just selling it as DLC like proper corporation wink2
Nah. In general games should be stand alone. Getting stuff for having played the previous game means that potentially some people can't get that item - or get frustrated because they beat the previous game, but on the wrong platform - say they beat Skyrim on the PS4, and ESVI releases on (hypothetically) the PS6, which can't access the PS4 save. Or they beat it on the computer they have now, but in 3 or 4 years when we get ESVI they've moved on to a different machine or had to replace the hard drive.
Oh I totally agree on keeping them standalone, I like how they've done that over the years for the most part besides lore mentions.
However, I hardly think a good excuse to punish others just because some want to throw a tantrum over not having something that wouldn't even be that big of a deal item. I wasn't talking anything big like some insane new class or area. It's just something I've seen done with other games and thought it was pretty cool to do that. Personally, I have played games where I hadn't played the previous title and did not get whatever the exclusive item was and it honestly did not bother me at all, game still played just fine.
Hello. How do I get help with account recovery?
is there a issue with servers or a downtime on eso atm as i cant get back on after the game kicked me offf
You'll have better luck checking the ESO forums: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/
Regarding Skyrim, Illusion magic was cool in concept and so was Alteration. However, with Alteration the magic seemed more focused on the player or magicka itself, I was thinking something more along the lines of being directly involved with the physical environment. Kinda like how Transmute was, I did like that spell (would of been very cool if they had expanded on this spell to have different effects on a variety of item types such as food too). Like bringing trees or spikes out from under the ground or temporarily opening up the ground to swallow enemies whole (their hands or limbs sticking out the ground after it's closed so you can still loot bodies), or vines wrapping around enemies to bind them and squeeze dmg. Creating avalanches and rock slides. Scalding water enemies are in would be fine too if they not gonna add more water magic/school and parting water apart like you were roleplaying Moses lol, could lead enemies down the dry path then bring down the waves to drown them under
^^^ Okay now this is the kind of thing I hope would be either added In, or expanded the idea of more diverse types of spells. Like some of those spells you made up could be like earth alteration, giving more types and more amazing spells would make people want to try a play through, through all the classes of magic.
Just started eso, any noob tips?🥹
You'll have better luck checking out the guides on the ESO forums https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/
Okay ty!
I don't know if Bethesda reads these or not, but I really hope on TES6 they add armor and weapons damage. Actually show your armor getting damaged in real time.
I have been asking for armor & weapons to get damaged and destroyed since Skyrim came out. Missed it that it was gone in Skyrim, although BGS did add it back in Fallout 4, but only to Power Armor and they did add it back fully in Fallout 76. Oh and Zenimax Online Studios fully added it to The Elder Scrolls Online. So there is hope. Skyrim might actually just be the only one off.
I'm glad someone else is with me giving them ideas. Fallout4 power armor damage wasn't that detailed. There can definitely be improvement in that area. Which I can understand on that generation of consoles. I haven't played the online games because I work sometimes very long shifts. I'm thin in with to his console generation and the power of these systems. We should get alot more detail in games, or at least thats what I'm hoping for. Another thing is Skyrim. How you got the black star, black soul gem, and the grand soul gem have the exact enchanting strengths. I think the Star should have been the strongest, then the black soul gems, then the grand. That's one thing that Bethesda didn't detail enough in the game in my option. Hopefully they do better in this area next game.
Weapon and armor durability works well when you want to focus on survival mechanic but not quite sure for single player RPG experience, like not many people want to maintain their Character needs or warmth, durability also something similar like that. I agree when they add this to survival mode not standard game so people have option to have it on their game.
But the star already strongest one for being reusable lol
I think that if they was a little bit stronger that would keep players from breaking the game. Also the missions you do to get the black star, then you figure out it's no stronger than a Grand gem with grand soul. I won't like I was kinda disappointed with that. I like the enchanting things. I think it would be cool to unenchant all things too. Have that option. I also understand some should be single non enchantable items to not overpower your character and make the game challenging.
Uh you don't need survival mode to have armor and weapons getting destroyed. Morrowind and Oblivion have it and as I said Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online has it. I want my armor and weapons to break again I want to repair them or use other junk to repair them or sell them.
Fo76 and ESO is not single player game, probably people complained weapon and armor durability in tes previous game is the reason its not exist on skyrim. Who know? That why i said, it could be simply implemented in survival mode in game setting like skyrim. I mean i agree about mechanic but its not good idea if forcing it to people who don't want it.
I know they are not singleplayer games, read my post again I said BGS and Zenimax Online Studios put armor and weapons breaking again in those games after in Skyrim the armor and weapons being indestructible. I said it is a good first step in the direction for BGS to make armor and weapons break again in TES6, I think even Starfield they will break someone pointed out in one of the gameplay videos they saw armor have a health bar of some kind.
Armor durability and weapon durability aren't fun or interesting mechanics. Its obnoxious.
Armor and weapons durability are fun and interesting mechanics for me and offer more in role playing terms.
I also really hope they work on the fires in next Elder Scrolls 6. Like the small fires they have no smoke. And the vampire house where they was all dead. And it was smoldering wasn't really any smoke. We want to see smoke coming from a house. And be like "Yea I want to go there" for you Todd. 😁
Smoking rising up into the world. Thick smoke like something is really on fire in the distance.
And say yea I want to go there see what's going on.
How do you folks think Bethesda would handle the Stormcloak vs Empire results for ES6?
My guess?
The Empire dissolves (either permanently or into civil war) after Titus Mede II's assassination, and Ulfric Stormcloak never gets mentioned beyond the events of Skyrim. That way, whatever choice the player made is validated.
Alternatively, the Second Great War begins, and Skyrim and the Empire put aside their differences and fight together while never mentioning the civil war outcome. Then any civil war outcome can be effortlessly woven into the established history.
The other options include another Dragonbreak (Alduin and Akatosh play major roles after all) or establishing Season Unending (a temporary truce) as the canonical player choice since its part of the Main Quest.
I doubt nor do I want the Empire to just dissolve. I think its a faction that shouldn't go away. I expect the Thalmor to still be involved again. Of course they could be irrelevant, who knows.
I want Bethesda to have one of those Dragon Age style character creation options where you decide and dictate what happened in ES5 Skyrim as part of character creation. In Dragon Age 2, they have you answer that question for the sake of the Dragon Age Origins events.
the only important event from skyrim is the dragon crisis
skyrim civil war is just.. side show, i mean nothing surprising for other part tamriel about nord's war.
Would be cool if for a DLC, we got to explore one of the moons..
Soul fushion. Basically you put more than one soul on an item (weapon). While greatly increasing damage output, it should come with a suitable cost. The fact that you are putting more than soul on the item will cause instability. This will cause you take some of the damage (low, but still felt) from each blow to an enemy.
For armor, the cost could be that armor/clothing items enchanted this way NEED to be recharged (unlike normally enchanted armor/clothing).
They could make it (soul fushion) considered an illegal practice in the game lore due to the hazard it poses with instability.
Personally, whether this could be used in main game or survival option, I think it would be cool if it acted more like a temporary buff system that is reusable. Basically like how the grinding stone gives your weapons a permanent buff (like bonus dmg, or even a choice of variable benefits based on what you do with it or the style in which you sharpen it for different purposes, from a sharpened blade opposed to dulled), but instead change it to temporary. Use that instead of overall weapon durability or breaking them.
I think it's a loss for both either way.. Aldmeri Dominion gains from it.
Keep it in Survival mode(The weapon and armor durability).
Rather than durability, what if just decreased quality over time for weapon and armor, so you can lose its tempered state.
That is basically what I just suggested.
oh right, but something like this will force player to interact with crafting system. not good idea for rp.
No it would not because it's a temporary buff. You can go entirely without it without penalty.
No just no keep armor and weapons durability in the whole entire game like in Morrowind and Oblivion I will fight and die on this hill to get this back in TES6.
Idk, I don’t really feel equipment durability added any value either way. It wasn’t punishing enough to add any real challenge to the games but it also didn’t really make the games more fun. Unless they overhaul the mechanic I don’t really see any value beyond just kinda being there for the sake of it, but that’s just my opinion
No, its not fun.
Ok for the people who do not see armor and weapons breaking fun. Lets just put it this way agree to disagree. I love it, you guys do not love it. There that settles it.
I always found having my armor and weapons break fun in Morrowind and Oblivion. I really miss it and hope BGS adds it back in TES6, and as was mentioned before someone mentioned seeing some sort of health bar in Starfield on armor and weapons, so there is hope BGS will add it back in TES6! I am very excited about that in Starfield.
If you want a survival mode, you can have it but don't force everyone else to suffer through it
Once more I want it in the whole entire game. Like I said we have to agree to disagree.
I'm not forcing it on the game. Thats you.
I mean I'm done with this discussion we will keep arguing about it back and forth. Agree to disagree and move on.
Everyone has their likes and dislikes of course. For me, I don't think the concept of durability is boring, just the method thru which it is most often delivered (not much beyond a statistic).
However, I think it would be very cool to be able to break enemy weapons or armor in battle (like actually break in animation). Say a foe goes to block your attack with a two-handed battle axe, but you slash right through the handle as you give off a true warrior's shout, your spit flying onto your foe's crusty beard due to a minor speech inpediment. Or your blades clash in the air as your superior, blacksmithed-blade shatters your opponents. You get clubbed so hard to the face it tears and launches your helmet right off your head (or maybe with it). 😂
Well you're free to write your idea
While playing skyrim and fallout games
i came across many location on the maps that seemed to have such beautiful design
Altars Caves Ritualsites
and everytime i would end up in a location like this i always would try to play around with it
-
if it was an Altar table i would open my inventory and drop random items i would assume are fitting for the place and align them in an order i would assume would be taken as a fitting offering
-
if it was a ritual site i would clean it up and place my own ritualistic items from my inventory and act as if i am doing my own ritual in that place
-
if it was a cave or a tomb i would instead of looting the items in the jars i would place items in the ones who have already been looted
what i was looking for is secrets
i was looking for ways to interact with the locations i was visiting outside the box
i always expected something to happen that might blow my mind
but it never did happen
i still had fun dragging around corpses and dropping flowers on them from my inventory
dropping ore and ingots i had found in caves next to the blacksmith hoping some rare item would show up in hes store
following the friendly wildlife
dropping equipment next to guards
instead of looting a corpse placing items in their inventory like soul stones
never leaving an enemy NPC naked on the ground
hard for me to recall but i simply what i mostly had fun was using my imagination
and the item system in some games gives you place to do that
specially because the items you drop have their own presence on the floor
the only thing that is missing is a reward system for playing like this
imagine if random acts like dropping flowers on a corpse would give hidden points to a player
and at some point suddenly a deity would speak to him and give him a reward for hes actions
what if you hear about this deity who loves spiders
and you kill a specific amount of spiders and this deity shows up as a boss fight
does it already exist?
Is it believed by most here that the default difficulty of Morrowind, Skyrim, and Oblivion, untouched at first-time playing, is the one difficulty position that Bethesda intended the game to be played? Is it balanced ideally in that way?
I once read a player saying he goes out of his way to only play on default difficulty because it was what the game was balanced for. I believe it, but what about you folks?
I just changes whenever i need it, in skyrim, probably i just want to chill so i turn into apprentice difficulty and turn off survival mode or maybe i need some challenge, i will switch to higher difficulty.
I think higher difficulty works very well if you have high leveled character too. Sometimes its boring to defeat enemies with just 1 hit.
The default difficulty is the most "balanced." This is the setting at which both enemies and player character do equal amounts of damage and take equal amounts of damage. Myself I most often leave the difficulty slider at its default position because raising it just makes fights more tedious for me. If I want to inject more difficulty into my games I use mods.
Pseron Wyrd, I know you from the original Bethesda Skyrim forums. Hey, if I remember correctly, years ago I was the guy who asked the question and it was you who replied to it. You're one of them, at least. And you might have been the one I was referring to who said that they go out of their way to only play at default difficulty. lol.
I really think it was you...
Fun question... If you get transported to any elder scrolls game world, which would you rather get to if it means you are gonna be treated into the game world's finest cuisine?
I'd probably would rather go to Oblivion' Cyrodiil because they have mutton. I get enough beef in real life.
But what about you?
I mean there's only so much you can do with cannibalisine ..or is there? 🤤
Perhaps Argonia, I hear they taste like chicken 😆
🐮 Here's your beef. Unrelated but I hope the type of Daedra is improved instead of just dremora and imp.
Daedra whale
My noble paladin orc is staying away from daedric armor even at 100 smithing (if he gets there). He's a supporter of the Vigilants of Stendarr.
So I guess dragonplate for me at end game. If not, he'll just proudly wear his orcish armor to proudly show his awesome race.
My man Bowin in Cyrodiil is currently in his swim-wear as he gazes at the beauty of the Imperial City docks. lol. I'm AFK...
He just got done weight training with his heavy glass Warhammer. 😄 He'll probably go for a swim as a way to improve his cardio.
I'm sorry to hear that, friend. This is why I play on console. They tend to be a lot less complicated.
I hope you figure it out.
Figured it out
Cool!
The Argonians probably make good use of those dino-cattle things, whatever they're called. I've seen them in ES-Online.
No matter what, if I were to be given a choice, I really think I'll work as your everyday Imperial Guard within the Imperial City in Cyrodiil. All I need to do is survive the Oblivion Crisis and I'm set for life. Permanent job and I don't have to leave the city to earn a living. I'll be eating mutton chops with my wife and kids regularly in my home.
And that armor looks awesome.
Argonian-Yoshi? 🤔
just oblivion crisis? not thinking about great war eh? 😄
high rock seems peaceful tho. at least on western side.
No. If you've played ES-Online and you went to that swampy beginner city, you'll know what I mean. They look like fat dinosaurs but small.
The Great War sounds a lot better than fighting dragons as a Whiterun Guard. lol
Also, I love to fight. Just keep me away from magicky requirements and I can fight. No big deal.
As long as what I'm fighting is not a dragon. lmao
It's Breton country, right?
Can you imagine seeing the contrast between Reachmen Bretons and High Rock Bretons? lmao. You have cavemen versus pompous monarchs.
well reachmen only live on eastern side high rock. they're much problem for nord instead high rock kingdoms.
Hello folks. I would like to hear all your thoughts on this...
I'd like to create a tiny community of dedicated Skyrim and Oblivion players who enjoy sharing stories and events about their own unique characters, however many characters each has.
I feel like an actual old-style forum would be too much of an overkill. But is it really? How about a mere discord server separate from this one?
Back when I hung out in Reddit, I'd occasionally prompt the Skyrim community subreddit to talk about their characters. And what a joy that was. They all enjoyed it, I myself enjoyed reading them, and I enjoyed sharing about my own characters.
What do you folks think? I feel like it deserves a separate server instead of putting that kind of content in this small section.
And really, I enjoy learning about the characters of other players. It's a real pleasure to learn about them.
maybe you can suggest to #discord-suggestions to add a thread here to share your story/character?
I'll do that soon. How soon do they respond to you?
you could mention moderator, not sure how soon they gonna respond.
Is the markplace actually going to be a thing in elder scroll v? I hope so . Then can support these lovely moderators who mod skyrim.
There is no official statement on what "Marketplace" is or whether it will be implemented into any games. At this time it is nothing more than a word that was discovered on a Steam website.
Like how minecraft support made mods. Mods in skyrim Like the mod to kill all npcs and quest mod the one in creation club. someone found a Leak in file call marketplace that why I asked.
does anyone know when we will have access to the necromancer if i have bought thedeluxe version of the game as i upgraded my version yesterday and dont see it at all
Hi, wolfie_nerd! This is a Discord for the single-player Elder Scrolls games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. If you have a question about Elder Scrolls Online by Zenimax Online Studios you may post your question on their forums. You can find them here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en
Question to everyone...
Which weapons in Skyrim are your favorite? It doesn't matter if it's a unique weapon or a type of weapon. Which is your favorite and which are your favorites?
Me personally... Enhanced dwarven crossbow and dragonbone bow. Both of mine are upgraded to legendary with smithing's grindstone. I want to say I love Zephyr as well, but I actually haven't tested Zephyr yet. Zephyr is a unique bow in the game.
It depends on my character as well... For my Bosmer, aside from his bows and crossbow, I also love my crafted dragonbone battle-axe. For my orc, I haven't finalized his ultimate weapon yet. He may very well craft his own dragonbone warhammer. We'll wait and see.
I do have to admit that I also love Molag Bal's mace.
No more "Berzerk" kinda swords pls, thats obnoxious.
The Daedric artifacts are hard to beat - I went through most of my first playthrough with Molag Bal's mace. Generically I liked the Nordic and Orcish weapons best.
Sooo... No sword in Oblivion or Skyrim?
Some were a touch chonky, yes, but Berzerk? Not even close
Its worse in Skyrim(The two handed variants don't need to be that big). Just a big pet peave I have but to be fair other game devs do it to. So I'm not picking on BGS.
I'm not saying swords shouldn't exist, good god no not what I mean.
Very true.
Skyrim occupies an area between Realism and WoW, and that's fine by me
WoW is way too cartoony for me. It's like playing SpongeBob the RPG.
I still play WoW as well, but it's definitely a different sort of setting. So is FF14
I've been playing FFXIV since 2018.
I'm one of the wealthiest players in my server. Or in the lingo of the game, in my "world".
Hah, nice
I used to have enough free time to play video games regularly. Now I only have enough to talk about them online
Somehow be wanting not an absurd looking weapon means I want hyper realism(Which is ironic considering I also feel Wow does the same thing but...ok dude).
No weapon in Skyrim is absurd. At least not size wise
Some weapons are, like, literally a danger to use
Elven axes, for instance, seem to have barbs that dig into your hand for some reason
Weeb weapons are cool, daikatana like Ebony Blade or goldbrand.
Eeeeh... I wouldn't say COOL, but, you know. Fantasy gonna fantasy
So long as we never get another set of Blades Armour
Not my taste but I know I was obsessed with the Blades during the Oblivion days. /embaressed.
Though, I'd even say go for more Blades stuff, if it meant the Tsaesci NOT just being racially insensitive parodies of Japanese culture
Give me a whole game of gag Blades Equipment... But make Akavir Beast Folk, and make them more than one dimensional
I killed Paarthurnaax with zero guilt because I'm a Blades loyalist. Really, in lore, if you stick with the Blades, you'll have your own little band of elite, Dragon-hunting warriors. Whereas sticking with the Greybeards and sparing Paarthurnaax nets you nothing. Those guys are pacifists.
And Esbern solves your word-wall radiant dilemma.
(edited. Read again.)
The Blades have never been elite anything though
They're, like... If Dr. Evil ran the Secret Service
I have never been impressed with anything those bumbling fools have done. The Blades are the "Keystone Cops" of Tamriel.
Their best achievement was Cosades tracking down a single smuggler den
I like to imagine the Blades as competent. But the games though... 💀
The Blades are underutilized. Only remarkable thing IIRC the Blades ever did (aside from Caius training the Nerevarine) is actually being the ones who "rebuilt" Great Numidium before Daggerfall's plot started - only the Mantella was missing then (though that was in Beth's plot synopsis for DF, I can't remember if how Numidium appears is mentioned in-game).
Thalmor are formidible...until they find me >:)
We should be able get contact with former blades agents in all skyrim, i want sky haven temple become a decent headquarter.
Or Delphine could give Radiant quest to disrupt thalmor operation, rescue her contacts etc. With ai voice, its should be possible to clone her voice.
Which Mannimarco and the Underlying may have covertly assisted in, and which the Blades screwed up by losing the Totem of Tiber Septum while trying to steal the whereabouts of the Mantella
Like... What did they do, bring it with them?
honestly always just thought the Totem was lost during the original battle with the Underking when Arctus decided "bye bye Numidium", didn't know the Blades just lost it lmao
still though, rebuilding it was an achievement in itself
The Blades suffer from a common writing problem in that they are generally used as a 'friendly' faction that drives the plot, but because of the players need to be engaged, ultimately never actually succeed at anything themselves
It's a similar issue to when a character is said to be something that their actions clearly indicate they are not.
Commander Chenkov in 40k being a brilliant strategist. Chancellor Ocato in TES being a great leader. Mr. House in Fallout being a genius.
It wouldn't be that bad if the Blades had actual exploits to prop them up, making the players engagements more exceptions rather than the rule. But they're basically all we have, leaving the Blades rather... Just silly.
Its not like we actually saw what the Blades did in detail. We went from Oblivion to them existing and then they're mostly dead cause the Thalmor took them out. And the time gap between Oblivion and Skyrim is massive.
True, but zero effort was made to fill in that gap, or even give them victories during the Septum dynasty. The Blades have basically nothing but dead emperors and failed plots to show for themselves.
And a bunch of dead agents.
well the elder scrolls blades about what blade agent capable of 😄
our character is nothing special.
I mean, heck, apparently Sky Haven was sacked during the Great War too... When the Empire still controlled Bruma, and the fortress could apparently hold against an army with a handful of men ...
So even that proved to be nothing but a very empty boast.
Or was it Cloud Ruler? Whatever the one in Cyrodiil was.
Cloud Ruler. Sky Haven was the Skyrim Blades fort.
Yeah.
But, you compare the Blades, to the Penitus Oculatus, and we'll...
without dragonborn in the throne, i think blades just lost their cause.
The Penitus Oculatus has thwarted at least 2 assassinations we know of, helped stop Umbriel, and almost destroyed the Dark Brotherhood.
but elder scrolls blades game.. the skyrim tabletop game 😐 its all about blades.
Haven't actually explored Blades myself, so can't totally comment.
And I didn't even know there was a Skyrim tabletop game. That sound... Absurdly noncanon
Though, if Blades is anything like Legends...
well a cc item mention about blades setting so its canon. 🙂
skyrim adventure game tabletop, well its take some years before skyrim event in 1st chapter.
like markarth incident.
That was decades, not a few years
But I get your point. I'll look them up
You'd have to move mountains to make me respect the Blades though
Depends if BGS want to use them again. Be cool but I don't see them touching them again.
You kidding? People love that Armour and the Katanas
They'll find some way to cram them awkwardly in
i really can't make fun of them after playing TES blades 🙂
Ah, well. I can make fun of anything.
i think its better for them to stay low profile than become empire agent lol. with akavir culture, blades can turn into ninja lol.
Eeeeh... I'd rather not go that route with the Akaviri
It's too easy to just make them "Tamriel Asia". Which is not a good idea.
Alas, it's the sort of culture building TES has mostly engaged in since Oblivion
I dunno, I think them being related to the Empire is fine. The Akaviri, I'll agree just this once, "Tamriel Asia" wouldn't be as interesting.
Tamriel yokai realm 🙂
Folks, who are we kidding? Elder Scrolls 6 would either be High Rock or Hammerfell. They're not gonna go risky and set the game in Akavir. An Akaviri island, province, or city is only worthy of an add-on. An Elder Scrolls title needs to be generic. You don't want it to be too exotic. It's just doesn't feel right.
Morrowind is the only exception. Bethesda would only be adventurous after they prove to themselves and to the world that Elder Scrolls 6 will be just as successful as Skyrim.
Look at Oblivion. It's as generic as can be. It's basically medieval-esque Pagan Rome. That's the kind of setting and theme that is worthy of an Elder Scrolls numbered title. Skyrim is the same way. Viking culture.
Asiatic themed entries should only be side add-ons.
I personally would be taken aback if they set the next Elder Scrolls on Valenwood. Way too alien.
High Rock on the other hand... With Breton kings and queens... Now that's worthy of an Elder Scrolls entry.
Orsinium is a great choice, but perhaps I'm biased because I love Orcs...
well high rock and northern hammerfell already covered in TES daggerfall. if starfield could covered 1000 planets, TES VI should be able take setting in all tamriel 👀
Thats what I want. But maybe it's too much to ask?
Man, I would be ecstatic if it's gonna be "The Elder Scrolls 6: Tamriel."
it could be done if all quests are radiant form lol
except main quest of course and probably faction quest.
tbh i just want something like dynamic encounter if you join guild, maybe you find your guildmates doing some quest the wilderness and you can help them.
I wanna meet the dwemer.
play morrowind then 😄
But isn't there only one dwemer in Morrowind? I want to meet a clan of them.
Until Bethesda shows the ability to make interesting cultures again, I would instantly lose hope for the game if it was all of Tamriel
maybe this is a stupid question but whats up with maintenance 2 days in a row
If they wanted a game with Akaviri influence without diminishing the mystique of the actual continent, they could do Elsweyr since it has a population of Akaviri-descended Imperials.
Speaking of Akavir, I really think Harkon’s sword, Blades sword, and the Ebony blade should all have a separate and unique fight pose. Dude, the way Skyrim characters hold those swords is silly. That’s not how samurai hold their katanas. lol
I guess it’s asking for too much, but nah. You gotta respect the kendo pose, man.
Samurai also would never use a shield
So the Kendo pose kinda goes out the window when you factor in everything else in TES
OrAkavirorwhatevercontinentcould have more then one specific racethere(Like two kingdoms)
Akavir should be at last the main 4. Kamal, Tang Mo, Ka Po Tun, and Tsaesci
Though none of them should be like Oblivion and Skyrim: Simple, mono influence tropes
What are your favorite races and why?
Dunmer, because they're actually developed like a functional society and culture, rather than a meme.
Dunmer are basically the polar opposite of a Nord. As long as the untainted Falmer don't come in the picture.
yeah, backstabbing is legal in dunmer society 🙂
Because really, Nords are snow-vikings and Dunmer are fire elves.
i guess we have very different view of function society then
Dunmer are more... Edo-period Akkadian gnostic elves living in Hawaii
Whether I agree with how their society functions or not, they are actually a society
Nords are just... A Viking meme.
Mine would be both wood elves and poop elves.
I am sure you know what a "poop elf" is.
Humans(Because) I see the Human variants as still human
imperials 🙂
Is that your favorite or are you answering my poop elf riddle?
Have fun with your 40-year life. lol
Nah I'll live I mean Lightsong will live way longer.
Yes. Orsimer. Orc.
I like orcs for the very simple reason that they are the brawniest race in the game. And I like wood elves for the very simple reason that they are generally the master archers of the game. You got pure strength on one side, and you got the pure agility on the other. Imagine those two races being led by an Imperial Tullius type of character. Front line heavy armor troopers and light-footed master archers. It's a deadly team.
I... Don't like stereotyped races. They take away from the world and diminish the cultures involved, in my mind.
I don't really care about origins and homelands. I only pick the races with the best physical and combat talents. Most factions in Elder Scrolls are not racist. One of the Companions Harbingers in the past was elven.
You named your character Lightsong?
No, its just his family name.
I'd much rather Racials be discarded entirely, and the 'Races' simply be developed into proper ethic groups instead of outdated clunky gameplay intrusions into worldbuilding
favorite one
Well, like I said, I don't care about racial origins and racial cultures. I just like characters who have the best physical genetics...
As for ethnic groups... Don't they already have that? The Skaal, the Alik'r, the Orcs, and the Reachmen?
I'm probably misinterpreting what you mean by ethnic groups.
Okay why?
I think because they're most versatile race and strong at unity.
i heard imperials have biggest population in tamriel.
Well, in reality, Races don't exist. We have Ethnic Groups instead, which are divided along different sorts of lines...
i think race term is just well known term in rpg community.
But, we know that, in setting, Genetics don't work like that anyway. You've got the Wood Orcs, who are just as agile and stealthy the Bosmer, while also still having the same emphasis on strength
I won't really get into why Race is so prevalent in the RPG community, where it comes from, and why it's wrong here ... I'll get myself in trouble
not sure where its coming from? tolkien? 🤔
Dude no. lol. It's the Bosmer who holds that title.
or just d&d stuff.
It's both, but mostly D&D. And based on very, very outdated ideas.
Either go full Species, and all the diversity that entails, or drop the notion entirely
Which is basically an abbreviated way of saying... The populations of Tamriel shouldn't be defined by stereotypes, but rather built as actual, functional societies within the world.
The Dunmer are my favourite, not because I like or agree with their culture, but because they are still the ONLY ones who are more than a tacked on Gameplay defined, one note meme.
Most common perception is all considered as humanoid species even goblin maybe.
Humans are human. Fart
Stereotype eh, i think its player choice to following racial stereotypes or become unique individual.
and that's beauty of rpg like elder scrolls 🙂
Yes. But the problem is when stereotypes are forced on you. As they have been since Morrowind
Only Daggerfall let you ACTUALLY create an individual
are we talking about racial bonuses ?
I mean as unique individual, you must work really hard against racial stereotype. so racial bonuses maybe not give you any benefit.
But why? Why would a Redguard, raised outside of Redguard society, be subject to the behavioural stereotypes OF that society?
Why would an Orc, raised by Mages, automatically be inclined to be a warrior ?
More importantly, what even IS a Warrior? A Knight? A Hoplite? A tribal spear fighter from the jungle? A Horseman from the Steppes?
I don't know what it is about me but I seem to really really stick to the stereotype of my character's race. I just enjoy capitalizing on genetics.
For example, my Bosmer started off as an archer, only developing his battle-axe skill in the later periods of his Dragonborn career.
My Orc went ham on fighting everything, all the time, with the heaviest warhammer he could find.
My Redguard is some kind of martial arts expert specializing in dual-wielding axes.
I don't know. I just love stereotypes. It feels like my character (or me) is taking advantage of his Akatosh-given gifts.
I mean like, I wanted to be a basketball player when I was young. But as soon as I realized how my stocky, endomorphic physique was best suited for powerlifting and how I seem to find strength and mass gains to be a piece of cake, somehow my brain shifted into wanting to be a professional powerlifter. And it worked well.
There's nothing wrong with sticking to in-game racial stereotypes. I'm gonna be a great wizard if my dude or gal is an Altmer.
Good point. I also honestly hate that aspect of RPGs. Somehow, it's like you're not allowed to use a bow if you call yourself a "warrior".
In truth, warriors come in all shapes and sizes. I consider some kid who grew up in a bad neighborhood and having to fight to survive against thugs to be a warrior in a modern age. Even if he's not enlisted in the military. And just because your military officers teach you stealth doesn't mean you're not a "warrior". I share the contempt, Terical.
I'm not even sure what are you even moaning about. In Skyrim you can be whatever you want and do/roleplay whatever backstory you want to have. You don't have to the typical person a type of human or race someone is. Its all up to you(So long as the openness of classes in Skyrim goes forward).
rather than stereotype, i prefer call it natural talent? 🤔
Honestly I don't even think like this.. I see different types of character choices with cool abilities and traits and I'm like sweet, how shall I decimate my enemies this time muwhahaha. I don't want sit there with a checklist explaining to my dragonborn character with an endless list on how they fail to meet societal standards from a world they don't even exist in..which is kinda the point, to get away from this world and it's pettiness.
I'm talking about Bethesda putting things like sneak, archery, and alchemy under the "thief" playstyle when archery, in the real world, is the vocation of "warriors". At the same time, they portray thieves as lightly armored, as if armored nobles in history never stole money when they were in their privileged positions in their society. lol.
I wouldn't complain. I am not complaining. I just simply don't like it. For all I know, I wouldn't be able to do even half as good a job as Bethesda. It's just my own thing.
I have a playthrough with the same mentality as what you have here, and I have other playthroughs where I roleplay. It's a different feeling.
For many hardcore gamers, they really really roleplay.
They're not separate, I am roleplaying too. I roleplay with that world, not ruin it with this one.
Oh...
You don't find real-world inspired themes to complement your roleplay?
Because for me, I like put real-life themes into my roleplay. Like, I'd take historical characters and ancient cultures and find inspiration from them for my next build. One time I pretended I'm one of Genghis Khan's soldiers when I had my archer Dragonborn, at low level, snipe to death a giant while mounted on a horse. It was fun. I was like a nomad.
Archery is under "thief playstyle" when in reality, it's a weapon of warriors. Dedicated samurai in that era in Japan were adept archers.
Oh, well I hardly see as a thing to get to hung up on about. It's not like you're roleplaying as Khan in-game contemplating as to where the thief skill should go lol
Who knows? Maybe some day I'll create a mod that renames things. lol.
My guess is it's just how they trying to develop the whole skill system
I'll go play Skyrim now. I'll talk to you all later.
They did officially confirm it will take place in "Tamriel." At least it seems that is where the main story will be focused.
Tbh any place is a good place as long as it tells a good story and provides plenty to make your own stories within that world if you so wish.
Hmm, but it doesn't have to be all "Asia" continent, could be a mix of like Asian and European (heck for that matter.. African, Austrailian) and just because something is "Asian" doesn't mean it doesn't have different subgroups within that. Like Japanese and Chinese are not the same. Akavir could be diverse as Tamriel. I think the problem is that most of is "beast-folk" rather than bc of Asian influences that ppl complain about. But even in that sense, it's still diverse in the various types of beast-folk living there. It could be like a much larger "Morrowind." And if they have a game with both Tamriel and Akavir in it, that'd be a dream for me
I think skyrim already have diverse setting for each major holds, that's just for one province. much better than oblivion setting. its not all viking vibe.
I agree. I get it was supposed to be a lot of snow, but it was cool how they still had different types of environment in the province
but i don't mind return to high rock ( and probably hammerfell included ) for next series. i wish more faction/guild exist.
On the topic of races, I wish that TES did subraces. For example, Crowns and Forebears for Redguards, Colovians, Nibenese, and Rim-Men for Imperials, Ashlanders and House Dunmer for Dark Elves, Bretons and Reachmen for the Bretons (not sure what word to distinguish the "civilized" Bretons), the various bipedal forms of Khajiit, and so on.
aren't crowns and forebears just political faction? and maybe ashlanders too.
You know we keep getting Werewolves in TES games, how about we finally get Werebears, Wereboars, and Werewhales? Those are real too in the lore apparently. Are there were anything else?
Yes. Werevultures in Valenwood.
that's seems will take very long game development time for each lycanthropes model 😮 not good idea IMO.
I don't believe that to be true. Artists can make morphisism of many models quite fast these days.
yeah probably but coding, testing part still take time.
Well ES6 is most likely a 2027 release, so I am sure BGS can have them made after Starfield.
i mean sure its great, but i think lycanthrope ability is not main priority unless the game really focused on that.
i remember a story during skyrim development, there's plan to include centaur but its too difficult to animate or something and it got scrapped.
At this point, a lot of players would be irritated, me included, if they did not have both beast blood and vampire lord forms. Either have them or give them a just-as-good replacement. You can't take them away now since the Skyrim fan base got spoiled by them already. Especially considering how you can have them in Elder Scrolls Online.
I love how in ESO you can just morph into as many things as you want.
vampire lord form and werewolf perks are coming from DLC, like look it's not main priority unlike vanilla game system and features.
Even though ESO is less popular than FFXIV, I enjoy ESO far better.
Ah, fair enough.
But... Hear me out...
Bethesda has several years to create a complete game. I am sure that right now, they're busy with the slow creation of ES6 while they invest more of their energy on Starfield. There is no way they'll be neglecting Skyrim's successor. Dude they have several years for ES6. Anything is possible.
I want them to have both beast form and vampire lord form. If not, replace them with something just as good. But I dont want them taking them away. They have no excuse at this point.
I don't they think gonna be removed but to add more variants of lycanthrope bit take time because each animal have different animation. game development have deadline so they can't have put a lot of resources for secondary priority like that.
Oh.....
Oh yeah, no. I'm only thinking about the two. Honestly I don't give a rat's behind what kind of beast we get for the beast form. All I care about is that it must make our character hulkish and fast. And then give us a second form, preferably vampire lord, but as long as it's just as awesome, anything works. All I care about is that there must be at least two. No more if it's too much work, but it can't be less than two. I've been too spoiled and so did most Skyrim players.
well i always believe bethesda gonna try add something new, like we got feature build settlement or robot building in fallout 4, they add full manual controlled spaceship in starfield.
It would be cool if they did something different with each title. Kinda like we have a lot of different folklore, each province has their own folklore of beasts and legends.
Hammerfell Wereshark
Since I'm here, let's see what I can stir up in the pot.
Controversial things Bethesda should do for TES6.
Get rid of Racial Bonuses
Merge Light and Heavy Armour into just Armour
Double down on Skyrim's Perk system rather than bring back Attributes
Oh, also, don't bring back spears, throwing weapons, or other weapons until the combat system is sufficiently refined to stand on its own
Are you sure you aren't a little Daedra servant?
No thanks I want Light Armor, Medium Armor, and Heavy Armor back.
I serve the God of Knowledge and forbidden truths, Hermaeus Mora
Per Armour specifically, though, divided skills simply create superficially different competing skills which behave the same way, and have to impair other skills to make themselves distinct
Light Armour, for instance, has Stealth bonuses... Which rightfully belong to Sneak
If you merge them into a single Skill, then you have a Skill that specifically deals with Armour it's self, without needing to take away from other Skills to make it's self relevant
You can then put the equipment related stealth concepts into Sneak, and you open up enough weight and mobility options to give Athletics enough range to be an actually useful Skill as well
This approach would not only reinforce all the impacted Skills with more options, but could easily create far more natural 'Weight Classes' of Armour down to, and including, fully Unarmored gameplay options
They need to overhaul perks system, for skills system, people already familiar with skyrim. So make them little bit complex is good idea. Combat, magic and Stealth still your basic skills tree, and speech or crafting should not related to three main skill.
So 3 main skill tree and so other for secondary skills.
Provided it offers the same freedom Skyrim has, sure.
Ah something like field skill to collect more materials should be separated too.
I think having the 3 Paradigms, with 5-7 skills in each, is still ok
So 3 main skills and 3 secondary skills.
The main problem there is, is the activities attached to Skills
Well fishing, mining and chop Woods are activities too.
We can finally play as true fisherman lol
I'm talking more like... Archery and Sword&Board aren't related activities at all
Nor are Archery and moving steathily
So in a game where progression is activity based, instead of EXP based, too much lumping becomes problematic
Every day, I agree with the Thalmor more and more
Thalmor must die.
Yes. But that doesn't mean they're WRONG
Their biggest problem is, they're stooping to the level of the enemy.
Eh, hunting their own kins is pretty wrong i think.
Tell that to literally everyone. Khajiiti tribal wars, the Nord civil war, Dunmeri house wars.
Every culture in Tamriel turns to violence to deal with dissent
But the Thalmor ARE right, in that Humans are a colonial legacy which has brought conflict, systematic oppression and more than a few genocides to Tamriel
Mer enslave humanity in merethic era or falmer probably attacking saarthal first, and whatever Sinistral elf did. Most man conflict with mer is just retaliation.
Both are have good and bad side i think.
Oh don't forget dwemer experiment with falmer.
Not that saying man is better tho.
Men and Mer both engaged in slavery. However, Men came to Tamriel.
The Mer may have attacked Sarthaal, but the evidence indicates that the Atmorans were in possession of the Eye of Magnus, which the Falmer buried
The Left-handers are not mentioned, ANYWHERE, of doing anything. In fact, their earliest mention is the Yokudans literally fighting a civil war to decide who got to lead the attack on the Left-handers.
Man is, and has always been, the instigator. They are the invaders. They simply use the retaliation of the natives as justification for their own violence.
What evidence you speak of? According book written by mer scholar?
Seems like man and elf are more alike than either care to admit to.. 😂
Get rid of one and the other will just turn on their own kind next, it's what we all do, we get too bored without a self-fulfilling sense of purpose
Well stormcloak is just same with thalmor tho.
The ethnicity of Dranor Seleth is never given, and they're the only one who even brings up the Eye of Magnus (though they never mention the name)
However, the fact that the Eye remained in Sarthaal, that the attack was targeted and precise (per the Mages Guild archaeological survey) and that the Falmer chose to entirely burn the city rather than occupy it, paints a pretty clear picture
The Falmer were (justifiably, given what we see in Skyrim) trying to ensure the Eye remained buried.
If they actively wanted it, as Dranor suggests, they wouldn't have left it in Sarthaal after taking the city.
But no, Mer are not innocent. No one is.
But compared to Men, they are far, far more often the victims.
Men have either fully, or nearly, exterminated 3 Meri ethnicities, and attempted to exterminate at least 2 others.
The worst Mer have ever done was the Barbasic Ayleids and their Gut Gardens.
Something which even Alessia's Ayleids allies were exterminated for, in the end.
Still, none of that ultimately justifies the Thalmor and their actions. It just means their reasons are in fact true.
All ye is lost when they start keeping score. One is just as bad as many and two wrongs don't make a right. Give em enough time and opportunity and that number will go up from whence it started. Revenge is a greedy poison and history goes to the victor, but surely the losers would of heeded the win had it been theirs instead. But as such is in their nature whether the blood spilt is from a foreign enemy or within.
Agreed, which is why I don't agree with their actions.
But the reasons BEHIND those actions are entirely valid. Far more than, say, the Stormcloaks and their whole nonsense
I think to each their own belief as it feels just as valid to them as any other. Besides, is there really a "right" or "valid" reason for bloodshed..? It's all the same to me, blood is blood (sounds like something an old orc would say eh 😂)
Yes, I think there is a valid reason. The issue is more about how far down the list of options violence is.
If it's ever above any other options, then it's too high
Then I'd say the Stormcloaks and any other, are just as valid 😁
I feel like he's being devil's advocate for the arguments.
To a degree
I think the Thalmor COULD be a really interesting, even sympathetic villian. Because, when you actually look at the facts, Mer HAVE been victims more often than not.
But... Well, the memes speak for themselves, and we all see what the Thalmor are likely to be
Fact can be an elusive word coming from everydayers like us. Let us summon the word of Talos to providr clarity.. 😋
Talos, god of lies
Lmao
Sounds like a reliable source
I just kno he is your favorite god 😁
Nah, I feel like some mer are jerkfaces. And to be fair the Thalmor are just one political group. They aren't the only faction of Mer(Or High Elves rather) that matter. I think if there was more High Elven opposition to them in Skyrim(Based on what I've seen vanilla game anyways)
It would given a more "grey" feeling with ..da elves.
Oh, I'm not saying it was executed well
But, like... It's just grating when people act like the Thalmor are this big evil boogey man targeting poor innocent men
When Bretons are literally the only Mannish ethnic group who hasn't commited literal genocide
I think they're just more in the present. One enemy down, another appears
And then Men go around and literally idolise mass murders that would make some historical psychos cringe
Uhh orsinium destroyed by breton for most of time.
Like after we slayed the dragons, it was right back to civil war
Ok, so EVERY Mannish ethnic group then
That's just Nords.
Tiber Septim is still a hero to the Empire too
A Hero is a villain for another side.
And that guy was so bad, I can't even talk about some of the stuff he did because it's against the rules here
https://tenor.com/view/star-wars-the-jedi-perspective-view-evil-gif-8134859
Don't do the perspective claim. Cause I don't need an anurysm this late 😛
I think talos cult is dangerous as well in morrowind CMIIW
This is a player complaint, more than a setting complaint, really.
Nothing good about extrimist i think.
Nah, the Talos Cult was a sect within the Imperial Cult who basically viewed Uriel as weak and wanted to instigate a return to Tiber's tendency towards ethnic cleansing.
Talos was a fully recognised god, they were just fringe radicals
They are good fodder for the story 😁 I'll surely scalp some Thalmor in the name of Talos 😉
Oh yeah, my black soul gems need more fuel.
Great idea!
And in fairness sometimes the message needs to be aired....repeatively cause some people need it slammed into their skull >.>
Mmm slamming skulls. I want a flails so badly in game or meteor hammers. Even if I hit myself with it sometimes 🤪
I can accept that.
Always need more Wolfenstein to get the point across
Took an arrow to mein leben! (Wolf3D inside joke)
I prefer higher calibre solutions into those situations.
But anyway, that rant out of the way...
Laser their shins and let the panzerhounds finish the job(Ok maybe thats too violent lol)
Speaking of... Hunters was a great, cathartic show...
BUT, getting back onto some sort of topic...
I think, as a general concept, Skills should be divided around like activities, rather than strictly by Paradigm or overly specific
For instance, 1-handed Weapon is a fine Skill. It's clear, and conceptually cohesive, while pertaining to a particular grouping of activities (swinging a weapon in 1 hand)
Don't mean no disrespect, but any other new topics? Beating a dead horse bringing up these same topics over and over without any new ideas for them
Hmmm...
Like idk, talk about the sun or moons with magical abilities lol
How often are the horses discussed here?
I mean.... its easier topics wise for an established franchise.
Well, I could be radical, and say that Skyrim's approach to Magic is superior, and should be built upon instead of going back to shiver Oblivions
Bring traits to elder scrolls seems good idea.
Traits should be brought back, yes. Daggerfall best Character Creation
Able to cast magic with both hand is immersive.
Don't think they will bring back shout.
Probably power button will stay.
It's also about how it combines actual variables and behaviours to create functionally and behaviourally distinct spells, instead of just visually textured replications that just apply different effects when they hit
I wouldn't mind seeing shouting again, but from like a boss enemy. One that's kind of a shadow of the dragonborn and uses all these shouts against you. I just wanna get flung around a bit before I chop their head off
Or worse, Mark of death lol
It could be interesting as a Skill of its own, but I'm not sure how it would be practical to level...
Would be cool if the power is a selection of choices instead of like here's your one ability and no other choice from the power itself, so I could try different ones each playthru
Power Wheels
Its possible bring weapon art but i think that's 3rd person only flashy moves.
Tap to use primary Power, Hold to bring up a radial (and slow time) with your chosen ability loadouts
Yes and no. Like I'd want it to be your choice throughout the rest of the playthru, otherwise it might just feel like basic magic. I was thinking more like a tri-force thing, one of the shards.
That is not something I have any experience with
I like pretending my shouts are Magic. Since I don't like being the role of Dragonborne(Its a cool idea for a SP RPG though).
I've got, maybe 2 hours total in the Zelda franchise
Less menu pls
And probably not chosen one but without Hero, there's no event.
That's a whole other topic that I don't have the battery life for...
Nah i don't think i need more UI, i like skyrim because its easier too learn.
But as far as powers go... Using a Quick-Key combined with a Radial Menu would allow for a lot of versatility, both for magic and martial abilities
I just wish they felt more natural. Kinda hated the digital map, woulda preferred in-game map you can hold in hands. But like I understand some players don't have much time or like having the digital maps for ease, so I wouldn't say get rid of it ya kno, but just more options?
I did like switching between magic in Oblivion. My brain can't visualize what you said.
Like, imagine if Paralysing Strike was a keystroke, instead of that horrible Morrowind control scheme...
Ok, Controller or Keyboard?
Keyboard
Ok, so. When you're setting up your 'Loadout' you assign Abilities to 'Slots' on a wheel. Say, 8 slots.
When you're playing, you tap CTRL to use the Ability in the 12:00 slot. However, if you hold CTRL, time slows VATS style and brings up the wheel, and you can use the Mouse to quickly highlight another assigned ability, which you use when you release CTRL
Whether certain Magical abilities (allowing for non-hand linked spells) or martial 'moves' like Paralysing Strike, you can mix and match things you've learned
On a Keyboard, you also have the benefit of numbered Hotkeys as well, though the core dynamic also works just as well on a controller
It's like different tabs basically
Tab 1 (destruction spells) tab 2 (illusion) etc. All on a big wheel. You select destruction it opens up the sub-tab for it
I was thinking more like you assign spells and abilities from the character menus, and the wheels function more like a more functional Favourites system
Yes that too. You have the option to create and customize your own tabs
So you could have Kick in slot 1, Flame Breath in slot 2, Candlelight in slot 3, Paralysing Strike in slot 4, Healing Potion in Slot 5 etc.
Yep in tab 1, then you can make tab 2, 3, 4 and so forth
Functionally infinite favourite slots
The only limitation, how quick you can select what you want. Since it only slows time, not stops it
I think fable did something like that, not sure if it was customizable tho
You could also use the tab system to say... change your quick-select load out
Sorta like a Hotkey mapping
Making Martial Abilities function like Powers in this way would also finally allow for the horrible Morrowind control scheme to be laid to rest.
But .. it's bad movie night, and my cell is almost dead. So I'm out. Gnight!
Later
Loadout magic eh
Gameplaywise its an improvement then going through your menu to change spells all the time.
Warlock call of duty lol jk, but yea it would be more convenient for gameplay
Loadout is a bit of a weighted term in gaming, I'll admit
But Radial Favourites Menu is far clunkier
Functionally, it would be more like a customisable Action Bar, but without the standard sort of interface
Hi folks.
Heya
hi im not sure what channel to take this but i recently got skyrim AE on gamepass pc and wanted to try the Bittercup content but i cant see it on the installed content nor can i download it. can anyone help me?
When you play the game and you are in the starting screen with the black background and the Skyrim dragon sigil on the left side, what do you see on the right side? If you see "Creation Club", click it. Hover over the one that says "Bittercup". If it says there that it's "owned", it means you have it installed already.
To further double-check, when you're playing the game, click the one that says "installed content" at the pause screen.
Well first off, i think the logo on the bg should be color gold as mine is still black. Second, it doesn't say owned i think what confuses me is if i should buy the Anniversary Upgrade to access those CC content or if the content is already on the Anniversary Edition and im just being dumb not knowing how to access it
If the logo is silver and not gold, you do not have the anniversary edition. When you are at that start screen, do you see anything there that says "Creation Club"? If so, click it. If you then go to the Bittercup thing, it will either say "owned" at the bottom, or something else. If it doesn't say owned, you have to buy it as an individual item, or just buy the anniversary update.
welp thats kinda sad, guess i have to buy the individual thing, at least it's at 10% sale. thank you!
Any idea when playstation na servers will be back up?
Are you talking about Elder Scrolls Online? If so, this is the wrong discord for that.
Shehai replace thu'um is gonna be must boring thing ever in next franchise elder scrolls.
Depends how it's approached
If it's literally just a sword... Then yes
If the Shehai can be shaped to your liking, and it's just been a sword for most Ansei because of their cultural association with the sword... Well there's more you can do with that
I am not sure how shehai works, is it something like thu'um but with movement or what?
Basically, it's shaping your soul into a tool, and using it to harness some kind of magical power
I think its more fit to fighter guild type power.
There's a lot you could do with it. Many Ansei were more like ascetic monks, rather than full blown fighters
The issue is mostly the Sword focus, since that sorta pigeonholes the style and approach
Ansei is sword saint right? Feel like not far from kensei IRL
I mean redguard basically desert samurai.
Gaiden Shinji lol
I don't see bethesda will using same gimmick for thu'um replacement, but power activation will stay. They can bring new skills tree for more options.
I don't see they can go more streamlined than skyrim 🤣
See, streamlined isn't a bad thing. It's what's under the hood that's more importanr
Complex for the sake of complexity is terrible game design
I am not saying its bad, but i think skyrim already...basic?
To use Daggerfall as an example... There's no reason what so ever to have long blade, short blade, blunt, axe, AND Critical skills
Nah, Skyrim has most of the right ingredients, the recipe just needs to be balanced better
I think they could implemented ability system from blades.
Its stamina based skill.
Well they already done that by perks.
Yeah.
Combining active Martial Abilities, Powers and certain types of Spells into one basic system, functionally like the Action Bar of more D&D inspired systems, would open up a lot of options
And DooM has already shown the versatility of using a Radial Menu to keep active engagement without sacrificing mechanical options
Quick question which Elder Scrolls game should i play first?
They are mostly stand alone, so you can pick any
I have a question for xbox 1/X users - is thieves guild for good guys compatible with Xbox 1/X, even though it says it's for that platform on Bethesda?
All info I've found points to pc only
Oblivion.
Because if you fall in love with Skyrim and get used to its next-generation graphics and engine, Oblivion is gonna be hard to enjoy.
On the other hand, if you play Oblivion first and learn to appreciate Oblivion for what it is, then you will not have the unpleasant experience of getting used to black coffee, so-to-speak.
I hope I made sense.
That is unfair to Black Coffee
The only people who appreciate unsweetened black coffee are those born with underdeveloped taste buds. lol
Sounds like you have only tried cheap major brand coffee. Get some good stuff, grind it yourself, and use the proper temperatures, and you don't need no Sugar
And I say that as someone who would have agreed with you 6 months ago
lol. Nah man. I've tried all sorts of coffee. They are all terrible to me when they dont have cream and sugar. Trust me, I've tried most of them. Expensive stuff and cheap stuff.
Fair enough.
Even if it's possible for me to have it as an acquired taste, I still wouldn't like it because it's gonna be a major chore to learn to appreciate it.
I'm sure the Nords would agree with me. While the Cyrodiilic Imperials would scoff at defiling their premium, high-society black coffee.
Wow, really? Fries are always better with ketchup. lol
You hate tomatoes or something? lol. They make many foods taste better.
This food chat may be better for #off-topic
I know sir. Sorry. I made it elder scrolls appropriate by talking about Cyrodiil. Sorry about that though.
It's okay, just wanted to leave a reminder before it got out of hand
Okay, but anyway .....
Honestly......
I sincerely think that either in future Creation Club content or in Elder Scrolls 6, they should have an entire expansion/add-on dedicated to adding several were-creatures and vampire lord forms. Like, a big content update that is dedicated to just that.
Maybe I'm just biased for beast form, but I would definitely buy that add-on in an instant.
That would be a cool addition
wild hunt DLC 🙂
o wait that's entire bloodmoon DLC story right? 🤔
minus vampire lord
Is bloodmoon from morrowind?
Do you consider morrowind to be better than Skyrim? Because a lot of people think so. I have it in my computer, actually.
the gameplay quite dated, i think. its just different experience than skyrim. the atmosphere is great tho.
Morrowind's main quest is my favorite BGS main quest. I personally love Morrowind's gameplay and do not think it is dated. I prefer it's slightly more roleplaying mechanics to Oblivion and Skyrim's more first-person shooter game mechanics. Having said that, Morrowind and Skyrim are tied for first place in my affections. They're vastly different games, but I love them both.
TBF, oblivion is my first TES game lol
I love Skyrim better than Oblivion, but I honestly prefer Oblivion’s high-society setting. The people seem incredibly socially refined. It’s like hanging out with rich people save for the beggars.
And the armor of the Imperial sentinels look far more expensive than your typical Skyrim hold guard’s.
With current blades focusing on dragonslaying business, maybe they're not gonna return on next franchise as main quest faction? 🤔
It's the Blades. They get a new job each game
but they have no empire to serve or probably new dragonborn
wait they never serve an empire, they only serve dragonborn emperor.
They'll find a way. It's been getting quite silly with them as Bethesda kept adding new things to them in each game.
Not really.
I think TES4s guards were just chainmail while TES5s was Scalemail in most of them.
TES4s an out one out style wise since they weren't doing Imperial styles.
tes5 imperial armor will stay probably lol, kinda iconic now.
Eh, it was ok. Not my favorite but I have the armor modded for something else.
I doubt it will. TES3s didn't stay, TES4s Gondor look didn't stay so I doubt this will stay.
Art style changes a lot of the time which doesn't help as seen with Vampires and Imperial Forts
I preferred Oblivion's imperial armor personally but I don't think they'll go back.
Oblivions look is actually a big issue since TES4 felt like it didn't want to do Imperial styles.
Cities were doing their best to not be Imperial and the Legion was heavily influenced by the LOTR movies
after double checking. Skyrims guards wear chainmail like the TES4 guards do.
They just have leather or scalemail over it.
Can anyone here please link me the official ESO website forum?
Thanks bud.
As with most things, I put Oblivion's Armour pretty much at the bottom of the pile...
A combination of very dated character models and the Imperial style armour just looking so generic it's just ...
Not to mention the Legion armour looks like no one's cleaned it in decades.
@pulsar root I said what I said. Oblivion's Imperial sets lack any sort of identifying character or visual interest. They're just vaguely 'Fantasy' plate armour
In general, Oblivion lacks any sort of visual identity of its own, and could very easily just be dropped in any of a hundred different settings with only name changes.
Skyrim's aren't that much better, but at least when veering away from the more standard armour sets there's a more strongly established visual style. Elven and Glass having a unified stylistic theme, Ebony recreating Ga-julan Bonemold, Nordic Carved armour, etc.
And I say the armor looks distinct enough for me and I care more about it then vanilla Skyrim's look of the Empire.
And that's perfectly fair. It's not like Classes here, style is entirely subjective as a concept.
Personally, I'm sick and tired of 'Realistic' armour in games. Looks like in Wild Hunt, and even the bog-standard Sci Fi armour style are so dull and dime a dozen now.
Almost makes me wish for more Anime style equipment... And that is not a fun realisation
I'm not consistent when it comes to armor types or weapons I think are cool. I'm picky. Vanilla Skyrim's armor is... well some are ok. I like the Dawnguard armor even if its simplistic(The more steel armor then the leather variant). I like the Ebony armor if a bit slightly weighty.
I can't say I'm particularly consistent either. Like, I adore Bobby's power armour in the Expanse, despite it basically being the Mass Effect Standard...
But, in general, I ere more on the Style over Substance side for armour. If I wanted absolute realism, I'd play something other than Fantasy
I'm not gonna lie, I am your oppsosite. A massive reason why I decided to take my dedication elsewhere (from FFXIV to Elder Scrolls games) is the realism of it. Even though Skyrim and other Elder Scrolls games are unrealistic, they are still significantly more realistic than FFXIV's ridiculous fantastical elements. In that game, you have a 60-year old man be able to toss a part of a train with a mere kick, and you have your Warrior of Light somehow be able to fend off a swarm of hornets with a pointy stick.
In Skyrim, you may have unrealistic magic and Thu'um, but their effects are reasonable. There's also the fact that you get easily beaten by a massive giant until your character is far more developed. And in Oblivion, your character improves his athleticism (or "cardio") faster by swimming, which is immensely realistic.
So yeah, I love realism because it adds to the immersion. It's far better than JRPGs with tiny characters punching giants and then the giants magically explode.
Plus, Skyrim's perks make sense. It's realistic.
Quick example of realistic perks, "conditioning" within the heavy armor skill tree. In reality, that's really how it works. Even the name of it is spot on. In MMA and football, you may not necessarily be the strongest or fastest, but if you have good "conditioning" (which is the actual term they use for it, for cardio), you are able to move around without getting tired. And if you look at the heavy armor skill tree in the game, "conditioning" does exactly that. Your armor becomes weightless to you.
See, my problem comes mostly from the approach Realism=Real World.
Realism, in reality, should be more driven by logical consistency, rather than a direct adherence to the real world. And in most cases, that instantly falls apart in a fantasy setting.
Between magic, inhuman skills, monsters, and just the ease of mass production, the actual influences on armour and weapons are going to be significantly different. No one in the real world would want a sword as beefy as a Skyrim iron sword, for instance... But no one in the real world has to try to cleave into a Troll, and that extra mass may be crucially important.
Skyrims styles make an effort for you to see if a style wasn't Nordic (Ebony is Dunmeri for example).
Yeah, which I like.
Oblivion actually does the same, for Elven, Orcish, and Blades.. unfortunately they just all look so lame.
Oblivions Legion is heavily influenced by LOTR. it's why the Legion Foresters exist to play as Ithilien Rangers and why the Legion is in full plate.
The only issue I have with Skyrims legion armour is how its used. Dialogue keeps acting like they're in heavy armour but I guess that's the 11/11/11 deadline and that the Civil War NPCs are rushed.
https://images.uesp.net/c/c4/SR-item-Imperial_Armor_Male.jpg
That would qualify as Heavy by most metrics
Though the whole Light, Medium, Heavy thing is kind of absurd in any realistic sense. Which kinda gets back to the primary point
I understand it for what the Smith that gets you outfitted says.
"light" is scout armour
https://images.uesp.net/0/0e/SR-item-Imperial_Light_Armor_Male.jpg
"Medium" would probably be your light infantry/archer armour
https://images.uesp.net/2/21/SR-item-Imperial_Light_Armor_Male_02.jpg
And then "heavy" for their usual heavy infantry.
https://images.uesp.net/c/c4/SR-item-Imperial_Armor_Male.jpg
I'd assume the full face helmet with a plume is a cavalry helmet which is why it's rarely used
Cavalry or Officer, but in general Imperial armour in Skyrim does show a vastly superior transition in equipment 'weights'. Each subsequent weight class is largely just the same, with more layered on them.
Not perfectly, though
But largely, that's how any Light, Medium, Heavy scale SHOULD work in a functional sense. Though really, the distinction is highly relative anyway and actively impairs gameplay options and systems to maintain
You could do away with it entirely and have a vastly superior result
Officer already has its own helmet with the metal plume
Maybe I'm confusing helms then
Wait, how is that absurd? There were such things as lightly armored troops in the early days of warfare. Can you please explain?
@tardy tiger
Bro, I think that in vanilla Skyrim, there's really only one copy of that helmet in the whole game. Am I right? And that just shows that it is reserved only for the very high ranking officers like Tullius. Even Legates don't wear it.
The top one of the two, I mean.
No it isn't.
It's just an "Imperial Helmet" And doesn't fit with Tullius' armour. I think the unused Tullius outfit without just threw on the officer helmet.
It's used at least twice. Once at a Talos shrine in the rift and another in Meridia's temple.
Because of how it's handled in games, not because of its (terrible) attempts to reflect real world armour concepts.
For instance, 'Lightly Armoured' simply means LESS armour, not specialised forms of light armour
Like I said, the armor IMO just isn't to my liking.
A full suit of Leather Armour, for instance, would actually weigh the same as a suit of Plate... It'd just be vastly inferior in basically every way.
Meanwhile, Elven and Glass armours ARE plate, and should behave exactly the same in every way to Steel or Ebony, even if they may weigh a little less
Meanwhile, while the actual differences in encumberance between types of armour (Maille, Gambesson, Lamellar, Plate, etc) are actually measureable, they aren't enough to even really worry about functionally
Fantasy just likes leather a bit too much. Like where’s chain mail?
Mmhmm
Really? I don't think you're right. The Spartan Hoplites wore heavy metal armor and their idiot enemies from Persia had hand-woven wicker shields. That's not "less armor", it's a different type of armor altogether.
There's also cavalrymen in the Napoleonic wars who had literal bullet proof metal armor versus lightly armored cavalrymen who literally wore clothing. And then you got the super old school mounted knights who had even their steeds wearing heavy metal armor.
So no man, I don't think you're right. And it's not like leather armor didn't exist in the real world. At low levels, Skyrim is very stereotypically medieval with its armor aesthetics and really only becomes high-fantasy as soon as you are able to craft or loot elven armor and beyond. Real-world breast plates probably looked very similar to your Skyrim steel armor. Well-fitted but still had room for movement with the arms.
More Armour has always been synonymous with More Metal, though even in regards to that how the metal is worked also contributes. Cloth armour equates to less armour when compared to Maille, or Lamellar, or Plate.
But in terms of weight, Plate objectively weighs less than other forms of metal armour that covers the same amount, and inherently incorporates cloth armour in its design anyway.
To use medieval arming standard as an example, the transition from Light to Heavy Armour was entirely based on how far along the armouring process you were. Cloth armours such as Gambesson were 'Light'. Then you throw a breastplate and Maille coif on it, and it becomes Medium. Then you add more complete plating spaulders, greaves and gauntlets, and it's Heavy.
The scaling is just about the amount of armour, not distinct classes of any sort.
But even then, if you compare armour by raw coverage, the weight classes fall away entirely. Fully body coverage of leather (sufficient to be protective) Maille, Lamellar, or Plate, all weigh about 50-70lbs.
Except, of them, Plate is actually the least encumbering, simply because of how it's made and articulated.
Gambesson and Cloth are a clear exception to these general behaviours, because Cloth armour was almost universally used AS part of heavier armours. So it was basically you armour underwear
But like... Glass and Ebony wouldn't behave entirely different, like they do in TES, because they're both Plate armours. And even when you go from Leather to Maille to Plate, the actual behavioural differences aren't really significant enough to worry about mechanically. And if you DO, then the way games handle them are actually backwards
Leather and Maille are actually MORE restrictive, because they lack the rigidity to self support, and thus require more effort on the part of the wearer to move. We're talking like, single digit differences in efficiency, though
But, in actual historical arms, 'Light' armour is synonymous with 'Less' armour.
Armour, meaning the protective equipment, of course. A wicker shield IS less armour than a Wooden and hide shield. Weaker, less protective materials equates to less protection.
ESO : II when ?
Hi, RadAways! This is a Discord for the single-player Elder Scrolls games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. If you have a question about Elder Scrolls Online by Zenimax Online Studios you may post your question on their forums. You can find them here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en
Ah, thanks for the information.
So essentially... There's armored troops and then a bit less armored troops?
Basically
The more 'heavily' Armoured they are, the more protected they are. But it's usually more of a linear thing, not a class thing.
And, like... Of you have access to Plate armour, there's no reason to use Maille instead.
I won’t pose this question in the Skyrim section because I want it to be broad and open to possible deviation to other Elder Scrolls games, so here’s my question to each of you…
One day, you wake up in Skyrim. I don’t know where your starting point is. It doesn’t matter… But in Skyrim, you end up as not the Dragonborn. The Dragonborn is some nord guy you don’t know about and he’ll kill Alduin eventually. But there you are with your ragged clothes, 20 Septims, and an iron dagger… You’re stuck in Skyrim until death. You can only return to our own world at death, and committing suicide will incur the wrath of Earth gods and they’ll send your soul to coldharbor. So you’d have to find a way to deal with Skyrim life. The question is, what would you do?
And you have to be a human. So not an elf or beastfolk.
Did that apply on all cultures?
Typically, yes. Though there were a few exceptions. India for instance continued to make extensive use of leathers, Maille and scale armours long after they had developed sophisticated metalworks to manufacture plate armours. Despite their ability to do so, they favoured Maille and Lamellar straight up to the rise of firearms, and we're not entirely sure why.
Cultures largely focused on more mobile warfare, especially equestrian cultures, also rarely moves into heavier forms of protection, rarely opting for more than a breastplate and helmet in a lot of cases.
Because, at the end of the day, not getting hit at all is still preferable. The armour is only there for when you DO get hit. And then, you only ever want to wear as much as you think is absolutely necessary
lol. What a bummer. This really throws realism out of the water with Skyrim and Oblivion’s dual classification of armors. lol
And in a flip of my earlier complaints, it's one area where realism would actually lead to more interesting mechanics
As for size of greatswords… I’ve seen claymores before. Skyrim is spot on. It’s the battleaxes and warhammers that are oversized.
MOST fantasy axes and hammers are oversized, yes. Rule of Cool and all that
It is meant to portray how super strong the characters are.
I think its more a legacy of the visual style of 80s fantasy, really. Which I'm mostly ok with.
I’m okay with it as well. I’ve seen maces used in real life. Effective mace combat is super fast and downright ugly. Whereas you got one of the Companions in Skyrim swinging that thing and telegraphing the movement to the enemy from a mile away. lol
being imperial and starting point of solitude is a easiest one i think, so much jobs opportunities.
you can work at farm, lumber mill, fishing or dock worker.
They don't need to be oversized. Oops late response Derp
Good choice.
have enough money and just left to high rock for better life 😂
Yeah, good choice. And I also would spend most of my time inside city walls too if I was gonna be the same way.
They don't NEED to be, no. But it's also not harmful if they're a bit big.
Not like we're talking Morrowinds Iron Warhammer
i am not fan of species thing if it applied to elder scrolls, feel too sci-fi.
Species thing? What? And uhhh oversized weapons take me out of it and its a trend I've noticed a lot in Rpgs and it annoys me. At least BGS offers modding support to allow weapon mods.
sorry i am just talking on different topic lol
Species are better than Races... Though neither are really applicable to TES outside of Khajiit and Argonians
Race, as a concept, is woefully outdated
That fits a bit better, I'll grant
well i am ready for possibility of hybrid "race". like half nord-imperial, probably.
But by and large, the whole system should really only be to deliver preset character packages. Daggerfall-esque character creation should return
but i don't think half khaji-argonian exist tho.
Inconclusive. Notes on Racial Phylogeny mentions there are reports of them, but no clear documentation
What Level are you all
30 😉
this physical form is 33. And Humans are human no matter what flavor, except forsworn cause screw them.
The forsworn are really weird.
The Foresworn are just basically what Nedes were before they were absorbed either by the Mer, or Atmorans
Anyway folks, please scroll up and read my question. I’d like to hear your thoughts.
Yeah but man… You need to progress. If civilized Nords are offering to add you to their clearly superior culture, accept it. And stop replacing your hearts with brown artichokes.
One of my Dragonborns is 63.
but nede people is followers of cult of the stars not daedra.
They're followers of a lot of things
Just like the Foresworn. They worship both Aedra, and Daedra
Wai wait wait…
Well, they tried that. Then Ulfric put them down
Okay wait, the forsworn are Bretons. Breton is their race while being “forsworn” is sort of like a clan.
Again, Race is about as useful a term in TES as it is in real life
Which is to say, not at all
Probably because they rebelled? Dude, the racist nords in Windhelm never massacred the argonians and Dunmer in their city.
Well... I dunno about that but...(Not the Forsworn uprising stuff I mean)
Because they wanted independence. Ulfric put them down... For wanting the exact same thing he, himself, would start the civil war over
Of course he would put them down. The dude is still a conqueror. If your subjugated people don’t want to accept your rule when you clearly have a wonderful kingdom, just put them the hell down.
And when trying to style themselves like the other kingdoms and vassals of the Empire didn't work, many Reachmen returned to the Old Ways.
The Old Ways, which has successfully served them for thousands of years against their oppressors
This discussion is making me want to watch even more fudgemuppet videos. lol
Never actually watched on, myself
He's entertaining...
many of his lore interpretation that i don't agree but yeah, it's entertaining.
I liked(But I may get hate for it) his Uriel Septim(Not the guy from Oblivion) theory.
Go watch one of his lore videos. Aside from his knowledge, his videos are high quality and like what trailerkin and light song said, he’s entertaining.
There’s actually three of them. Fudgemuppet is a group of three people.
My old, dead heart is only entertained by the suffering of my enemies
And fart jokes.
just two now.
One left? What happened?
bit oot, he make his own channel. lets not discuss it further lol.
Anywho, to veer back to the Armour topic like a someone who started day drinking at 6am on a Sunday and need to make it to church on time...
If you get rid of explicit Light and Heavy Armour types, and simply make it a sliding weight based encumbrance scale, you open up a huge range of behaviours and interactions you can't do easily otherwise.
Bot solution: Zos should move enemies closer to ore nods so bots would have to fight them first before mining it.
Hi, Saltacus! This is a Discord for the single-player Elder Scrolls games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. If you have a question about Elder Scrolls Online by Zenimax Online Studios you may post your question on their forums. You can find them here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en
I hope Bethesda really steps their game up with the bow and arrows. I mean arrows going through faces and the enemy NPC still running around talking. It's just looks generic. It would be cool if the enemy NPC had a skeletal and actual shots from the bow did like actual real life damage. I mean this is up there with dialog to me. It's a shooter game if you use the bow. So hopefully they improve this like they did the dialog. We have the tech now.
Too easy to absurdly imbalance the game that way. What's the point of even being an RPG is you can just snipe everyone with a headshot?
While I do think there's room for more control over things like Critical Damage, real life damage? Nah, that'd just undermine the entire RPG aspect and actually make those who complain about the 'removal of RPG mechanics' correct for a change.
I mean you can still do the whole "Headshots" do more damage then other parts of the body. Its not persay realistic but closest you could get without it being well un fun.
Oh absolutely. And Indo think there's value to that, and being able to target linbs
Though that would require a system with better control
Do you find roleplaying to be truly more enjoyable than merely playing Elder Scrolls with a do-whatever-i-want mentality?
Well its called ROLEPLAY game, of course its more enjoyable for that.
Most RPGS are.
Just needs to have more damage and not one shot kill. it's a fantasy game with stats meaning something.
I find the "do-whatever-I-want" approach so utterly boring and meaningless that I lose interest within hours. Roleplaying (and mods) are what keep these games alive and fresh for me, even after decades of playing them. When I roleplay, every playthrough is different.
I believe I know exactly what you mean. But either way, Skyrim and Oblivion are enjoyable in either method.
The do-whatever-i-want method gives players, or at least me, a sense of unbridled freedom.
We still have to wait YEARS for TES 6.. I cannot believe it takes ages to create a game....
It really doesn't take that long. BGS's game development cycle is only about four years. We've just had three games in between it and Skyrim
We're almost in the homestretch now. 2027! Maybe...
I think the engine updates might of hindered and well BGS did try something new but thats another story. All things come in time.
Because they were making Starfield and Engine updates
Do you folks think there can be honor in being a thief in these games? The Thieves Guild in Oblivion actually manages to give an air of honor to their Thieves Guild. I don't know about Skyrim though.
I have done the Thieves Guild in the past, yes. In other characters.
I'm roleplaying a righteous Orc front-line warrior. Because Hircine's beast gift is abhorrent to him, he will eventually get rid of it. For the sake of progressing in the Companions questline, I have to have him accept it first, unfortunately. There's no way around that outside of mods, right? But anyway...
As much as he is honorable and righteous, there is this weird quirk about him... He doesn't mind stealing food for the protein. Seriously. He aims to become the strongest warrior in Tamriel, but he understands that aside from training with a heavy warhammer, he needs to eat lots of cheese and meat in the process, so he actually makes an exception for food when it comes to whether or not he should steal.
Do you think there can be a compatibility for his character with the Thieves' Guild? Or you think it's not a good fit for him?
Food smuggling seems not quite popular in guild. Like its more bandit gang doing rather than thief guild.
Thief guild look for valuable things, not their quantity.
Ok so you think starfield will be a big jump next to fallout 4?
@sleek mountain
Thanks for the input.
So I guess that's a no for Thieves Guild for him, huh?
If I recall they were talking of engine updates with Starfield.
Game wise they went FO76, Starfield (with a major engine update with being the creation engine 2) and then it'll be TES6.
Like the only reason they announced TES6 so early was to reassure people that they were still doing single player games given FO76 was multiplayer.
TES III's Thieves Guild questline had a lot of options to be honorable and in many cases, you didn't even need to steal because many of the theft targets weren't unique items (and therefore could be bought or looted elsewhere). The Thieves Guild also had the Bal Molagmer quest series, where you act as a noble Robin Hood like figure.
Furthermore, TES III's Thieves Guild was working in opposition to the Camonna Tong, a much more brutal and ruthless crime syndicate.
Can anyone help with lost of ages glitch when you got create artifact at the end to complete quest?
I hope we get more 3D strands of hair rendered. Apparently Aloy's hair on her face the so called peach fuzz on her mouth and lips and cheeks each hair is individually rendered in Horizon Forbidden West. I hope in a BGS game starting with TES 6 we get 3D rendered individual strands of hair and no more 2D textures over a 3D polygon head.
Honest question to you all... To those who've played both Oblivion and Skyrim...
If Oblivion had the same "format" as Skyrim, with the same graphics, gameplay, everything... But the setting, the characters, the quests, et cetera, are the same... Would you still say you like Skyrim better?
The visuals and the gameplay of Oblivion really was a major acquired taste for me. But I'd be lying if I was to say that I didn't enjoy the Imperial City.
I really love the setting of Oblivion. It's just that Skyrim is a far better game, in my opinion, overall.
But the aesthetic... Honestly, I think I might have liked Oblivion better if it had the same graphics and things like that as Skyrim. The cities are so civilized. Skyrim feels like even the most well-protected holds are ruled by very primitive people. lol. I guess Nords are brutish or something.
Isn't that skyblivion project then
I prefer almost everything about Skyrim: from quests to landscape to gameplay. That said, I do like many areas of Cyrodiil. When I feel drawn to play Oblivion again it is not the writing or gameplay that draws me back, it is the landscape of Cyrodiil and Jeremy Soule's evocative music.
Cyrodil is preferable in terms of land to me. Not that Skyrim is bad but the Tundra setting isn't for me but I do appreciate it.
Cyrodiil have quite diverse regions, except there's no desert lol.
Oblivion had some serious teething problems with many things like AI, faces, and leveling, but I can't deny I loved the game's medieval aesthetic, its unique looking cities, and its music.
There are a few things I really like about Oblivion:
- The general art aesthetic. Cyrodiil is a really inviting. A bit dream-like. Morrowind and Skyrim are comparatively dour.
- The quests are some of the most memorable in the series. Morrowind had a better story, but both Morrowind and Skyrim suffer from unimaginative quest design.
- The soundtrack. 'Nuff said.
- The A.I. conversations and behavior. Clumsy implementation but endearingly goofy and fun. Feels somehow more alive than Skyrim with its instanced encounters and intellible but repeated conversations.
Skyrim has better gameplay, better dungeons, better world-building, better graphics and just a more natural/organic look to the world. More detail.
For your number 2...
Let me just say that after just reaching Master Thief rank in the Thieves' Guild and almost at the final quest for it all... I think I completely agree.
Also... the Thieves' Guild quests in Oblivion are hard.
But neither is Skyrim. And it's not Hammerfell.
I mean, is there supposed to be a desert region? Is it expected or something?
The primary problem with Skyrim's Thieve's Guild is that it didn't feel enough like a thieve's guild. At least with the primary quest line.
Just typical RPG biomes, you have snow, forest, coast, marsh, swamp, desert. Cyrodiil have it all except desert but colovian highland pretty much full of Rocky mountains, also its bordered with hammerfell.
Technically its nocturnal daedric quest lol
Heh, true
And I guess I want to clarify that the setup is compelling enough, with a more thuggish, mafia-style guild. It's just the story and quests themselves were a bit too generic.
When you roleplay a thief you want to be pulling off intimidating heists. Not doing dungeon crawls or chasing down thieves...
My thoughts exactly.
But that's covered by jobs. You can't even become guild master by finishing their main quest.
Uh yes you can. lol
Heck, I even have the Guild Master armor or whatever it's called. You earn it after becoming the boss.
Thanks.
Okay... Where do you all think ES6 will take place?
Although I'd prefer Hammerfell, I think it will be High Rock. I think Bethesda is gonna have us experience the monarchs of the Breton race.
They mean it's not tied to the MQ I think.
Yeah, but you have to finish 4 main job from major holds. the problem with mercer and nocturnal is the thief guild main story.
By the way, which Nocturnal power did you choose at that final altar?
agent of strife 🙂
Which does what?
same as fury i think.
Like frenzy?
oh right frenzy
I chose the invisibility. That thing allows me guaranteed stealth hits at key moments in so many missions...
And the sound factor is gone too because my sneak is and was insanely high. Nowadays it's maxed.
Oh wait wrong power lol
Instantly absorb 100 points of Health from the target.
subterfuge then.
@here
A question to you all...
If you lived in Skyrim and was given the chance to become a vampire, would you accept it? Why or why not?
I like the sun, so probably no.
I wouldn't want to be immortal. I think immortality would be very sad. I would chose to remain mortal.
My char doesn't age. Now if Nirn disappeared form existance...yeah bye.
Honestly, I don't think immortality is worth it if you don't have invincibility. All it takes is a good enough Dawnguard fighter and you're off to Molag Bal's playground. shudder
I would accept vampirism (if at all) not due to immortality, but due to the enhanced abilities.
To be immortal in a hostile environment like Skyrim and seeing people die for endless years is... Harrowing...
Well Illiac bay region is best for adding Sea Exploration feature, so it could take both Hammerfell and High rock as setting, wrothgarian mountain could be nice additional for DLC.
And Malacath can become main focus of daedric DLC.
I doubt they'd go to High Rock. They're going to stick with one province and not do two at the same time.
What I truly wonder is what the title of the game will be. The Elder Scrolls 4 was titled "Oblivion" and not Cyrodiil.
Hammer time 😛
Well TES2 daggerfall have two provinces.
parts of two provinces
The Iliac Bay is the setting of TES2 which was parts of High Rock and Hammerfell
hopefully, with new engine, i expect they're gonna step up their game setting.
That doesn't really matter. Scale matters a lot more.
What if Bethesda....... Is actually doing the Elder Scrolls 6: Tamriel?
Is that way too optimistic?
Zenimax already doing that lol
Sorry but ESO doesn't count.
I mean... It's a good game for an MMO, but MMOs are just different.
I don't think Bethesda would do all of Tamriel until they'd given each province their own focus. TES3 did the Dunmer, TES5 did the Nords and TES6 would possibly be Redguards.
They certainly have the technology to do Tamriel with Creation Engine 2. If they can create 1000 planets they should easily be able to create one continent on one planet.
Do you think some of the cities would be auto-generated?
I assumed Hammerfel was mostly desert. woops
It is. Which is why I doubt it'll happen there based off of the teaser trailer.
I don't think you'd do cities as auto generated. You'd hand craft that. As there's too many variables to trust a machine with it.
It'll have deserts but it won't be entirely deserts like Skyrim wasn't entirely snow how Cyrodiil had the Imperials lie about the Jungles of Nibenay.
I looked at the teaser, hammerfel is not what I got from it but....I'm not a dev so /shrug Edit: Well the internet seems convinced its Hammerfel...with little evidence.
i don't care for setting as long i can sail to big open sea in tamriel 🙂
I would pay double if there was an Ansei joinable faction. lol. The greatest warriors in Tamriel. 😄
just give me bandit clan because starfield already add pirate as faction.
I might not enjoy Starfield because I'm a Sony Playstation purist. My laptop is too weak for next gen games, and all three of my consoles are: PS3, PS4, and PS5.
You might not enjoy TES VI too if its become xbox exclusive.
Do you think they'll make it an Xbox exclusive?
I don't know. Let's hope everyone can enjoy the game.
I keep a daedric warhammer (previously a glass warhammer until I replaced it with daedric) in my wood elf's house and roleplay my character having it as a weight training tool to improve his punching power for arena fights. lol. He brawls with his fists against armed opponents in the arena.
Meanwhile, he's a stealth archer too.
In Oblivion, of course. Not Skyrim or Morrowind.
Meanwhile, my Orc stays in shape by training with the guards in Solitude.
That one is Skyrim of course.
I think that's more in Sony's ballpark than Microsoft's.
It'd be better if Sony didn't cause so many modding problems though
Once they get back to Morrowind quality worldbuilding, then they can look at multiple provinces
I dunno.... I think maybe... you are underselling Bethesda here and pulling a "Back in the old days"
Nah, I'm setting a standard. And Morrowind is it.
Even then, there's a lot that you could improve on from Morrowind
Based on Oblivion and Skyrim, I fully expect Hammerfell to be Arabian Nights, and Highrock to be 1981's Excalibur
And I'd honestly rather we only get ONE of those at a time, and give them time to... You know, go back to interesting worldbuilding.
Since Oblivion, they make games to explore, not worlds tonexplore
Sounds pretty subjective "Games to explore" Its still a game at the end of the day though.
Sure, and that's not exactly BAD.
But Oblivion and Skyrim haven't offered worlds which reqlly encourage you to delve into the world it's self. They're surface level, simplistic easy to understand packages that serve as nothing but a platform to facilitate you exploring the game world provided.
And I think we should be expecting more, and Bethesda should be trying to do more.
Otherwise, we're just going to get more Dark Brotherhood. And I'd rather not
I think they should hurry up for real
In my opinion there is too less information
let us wait and wait and wait
I'm fine waiting, for a good product
But 15 years for just more of the same? Not so much
That's why I am saying
I am not saying they should drop every year.. What I am saying is to connect little bit more with the people which buy your games tho.. Nobody will say yes let me wait 10+ years for the next title
I am not a game developer, I am not sure how much time developing a game takes, but c'mon man
Typically 2-4 years
Which they generally do, it's just... Bethesda has now 3 franchises for a relatively small studio
An average of 3 years development per game, equates to 9 years between releases for each franchise
ASSUMING round robin
But in general, I'd rather they take their time, and deliver a good product and than try to match the rushed and often forced release schedule of other studios. I'm not against 10 year periods between releases.
I'm more concerned with what they do, rather than how long they take. And as far as worldbuilding goes, Morrowind sets a standard they have yet to replicate, let alone surpass
Gameplay wise, Skyrim's on the threshold of absolute brilliance, even 11 years on
So you're saying that the real problem is not Bethesda making it an Xbox exclusive, but more of whether or not Sony herself would decide to include ES6 in her arsenal of games? The decision is more about Sony's than Bethesda's?
We do not discuss legal/contractual topics here per #rules
ZMI Legal Matters
We do not allow discussion of any legal matters involving ZeniMax, Bethesda or any of their associated companies.
If it were up to me, I would point to that if people keep harping about such matters.
Fair point.
Was this directed to me? I'm sorry if I said something wrong. What did I say?
I suspect, more, to the room
is southern hammerfell ruled by dominion? i mean that's good setting for TES VI as theme of rebellion.
oh wait redguards already doing that. 🤦
No. Not officially anyway
