Another mod I'm wondering about how to get full functionality out of is Pevey's "Become a Bard"... Which finally got its first update in seven years, on Nexus, but was not updated on Bethesda, and it also requires SKSE for some of its full functionality, but Bethesda does not provide SKSE or SkyUI
So how does modding and load order with with that? Are those two things even "mods" per se, and would they load in before, or after, things like Creation Club or USSEP or anything else?
[EDIT] Looks like if I want SKSE I have to go through Nexus, it's only on Steam for regular Skyrim LE, and not on Bethesda at all...

Yup, checked that out. Looks like the version number matches on Nexus, and latest version went up literally today... My question is still: I assume Bethesda will not recognise it in their "load order". How does it even INTERACT with the concept of "load order"? Does it need to be at the top? At the bottom? Or does it not even show in a load order? If I have it, and other mods, which "happens" first?
You use SKSE to launch the game. And if you use a mod manager, you have the mod manager launch the game via SKSE.
So it's kind of a meta step further up the chain of command? I'm kinda confused.
Correct. SKSE has to be what launches the game in order to inject its code into the game.
No wonder that every patch for the vanilla game breaks it...
It's unfortunate, but at least Bethesda is proactively assisting the SKSE project prior to updates in order to minimize the downtime which is great.
Which is apparently a fairly major change from years ago.
IIRC they did it for AE's release as well, but I don't recall if that was done in years prior to that.
To be honest it's amazing that a game as old as Skyrim still has as active a modding community as it does. I remember Morrowind and Oblivion, and before that, the Baldurs Gate series getting masses of mods...
Morrowind still has an active modding community. Two years ago an ineed/campfire/frostfall mod was made
Well, even without mods it's a good game, so that helped. It's also a lot easier to make and maintain mods for it compared to other games and their engines and toolkits. There's a couple games I considered trying to make mods for at one point, but dealing with Unity and other things looked like more of a headache so I opted not to.
Every game in the elder scrolls and fallout series's made by bethesda or while owned by bethesda have very strong modding communities. Even Daggerfall and Arena

By default there is only one werewolf type. Unless you use a mod to forcefully create female werewolves. So disable the female werewolves or female player werewolf mod and your good

Oh i see what your confused about. The werewolf model is one single model. The only time it changes genders is if another mod changes it.

Are you using the tamaska werewolf replacer but want the male look and fur color when you go werewolf? If so there is a tamaska werewolf player only thats ONLY the male model

All werewolfs use the same model. The only mod that seperates them is tamaska male and female werewolf one.
Meaning any werewolf replacer without that mod will be used by both males and females turning werewolf

So I can’t get rid of the mods in my library? Half of which I haven’t used in years and deleted a long time ago. And what’s with me having 700mb of ghost mod space? Deleted everything correctly ( I am sure Bethesda is aware of the ghost space issue that has been in Xbox mods since day 1 ) and did it correctly and when I redownloaded my mods still almost 700mb of ghost space. I even cleared reserved save space. What’s the deal Bethesda? Anyway to fix this? I’m open to suggestions as it’s obvious legit updates don’t fix anything.

Someone may be able to edit her character in creation kit to adjust something like that but if a regeneration of FACEGEN is required then this isn't possible on PlayStation AFAIK
for people who are having trouble with the store make a 2nd account for downloading mods,i was able to get the creations tab back on the main menu (my menu dissapered after a few hours on my main),use the search on the store (it was crashing when i was able too access the store)and download without crashing

Is Adventurers Weapon Pack V.1 working? I'm trying to download it on my PS4 and the message "This Creation cannot be installed since it depends on files that aren't present" appears.
So did you read the mod details and know what files are required?
unless something was changed in the update then yes that's pretty much it, you need FACEGEN and that creates meshes and textures which can not be used on PS.

I came to share with you my experience with this new update on Xbox in relation to mods, which might help you.

Go to the Bethesda website and leave only the mods you will actually use in your favorites and in your library, I recommend removing the rest from your list to make the process easier.

Download all the mods one by one, you probably won't find all of them in the Creation Club library, so you'll probably have to search for the ones that aren't there one by one. I recommend using a cell phone together to identify those who are missing.

Download all Mods before organizing the loading order, as the probability of messing up this order is high if you install a new mod. Generating bugs and game crashes.

I recommend creating a new game. Unfortunately, the Update hurt the game a lot. When I reloaded my old save, it messed up the order of the mods, causing a bug in the game.
I noticed my CK hasn't updated; can I expect issues if I just keep using the old CK and just don't upload to beth.net anymore?
Strictly for playing on a preexisting save, what would you recommend? Until I get something solid on what to do I plan on waiting until Bethesda implements a rumored hot fix.

Thanks to tommas uodating realistic armor replacer bundle i have found out that when you update mods that they no longer go to the bottom of your load order

I chose not to wait, unfortunately this type of support is very slow to respond.
If anyone is interested my UI MOD is back up and is 100% compatible with the creations menu and my custom gamepad controller works properly with the creations menu as well, happy to share what you need to do with anyone that wants to put together their own UI MOD, we don't even have to be best of buddies, I am just happy to finally get it working again and share the new information with anyone that wants it!

Hey guys, I was trying to play Skyrim AE but the difficulty setting seems to revert back to novice. How can I fix this?
It happens to me from time to time. Most of the time its a ui mod or ini mod resetting your settings. Just fix it to what you like and play like that without updating or adding new mods

Does anyone know if Bethesda plans on fixing the Creation menu? I know they’re kinda helping the SKSE team with their SKSE, but after that, shouldn’t they fix the crashes that are in the mod menu along with other issues? I’m hoping Bethesda hears all of this crazy drama and fixes the issues like they’re supposed to. It’s been like, three days after this, will they fix Creation soon?

the crash is apparently caused by one specific file found in several mods. so it's not really their prerogative to fix.
what they should do imo is revert the search functionality, cuz the new one is just worse than before 
If a single file in a mod causes the whole game to crash while viewing the load order then it really is a bethesda problem for making a change thay allowed thay to happen

has anyone here tried actually exceeding the console mod limit yet? on PS5, i tried pressing the “Download All Creations From Library” button, which installed ~250 mods, well way above the 100 mod limit. then again, that did crash my game after a few seconds, but the fact that it showed that 250 mods were installed in my load order made it seem like it was functionally possible

lots of things can break at the press of one button. why do you think we have signs that say "for the love of god do not press this button?"
my guess for this is there would be no fix other than rolling back the entire update, which could come with god-knows-what issues. they absolutely should put out some kind of PSA notifying people about it all tho, the silence is very disheartening but not at all surprising.

Ok first breaking the script extender is one thing. Im talking about how this breaks mods not even related to it that have functioned through every other update. The script extender is a single mod that breaks causing other mods that rely on it to update
But thats not the same as every console ui mod shattering the creations menu or this random file thats been fine forever now causing problems.
Some neat gear in the Legendary Dungeons – Dwarven Delves creation, spoilery but not too spoilery: ||like a couple weapons enchanted with a Poison Damage enchant, and they're disenchantable||.
i wasnt talking about skse at all. every past update has "single-handedly" broken a LOT of mods.
the AE update broke.. like, basically everything. the patch they released out-of-the-blue one day for some AE bugs, broke a LOT of mods. this update, like almost all previous ones, broke things.
as for why it's supposedly ridiculous that this one file of all things broke the UI.. yeah any time you change one core component of something, it'll probably break anything (mods) which relied upon that file. on a macro-scale, new game versions breaking mods which are dependent on that specific version of the game.
on the micro-scale, right here right now.

It is bleakly funny that a big reason given for not increasing the reserve space was that it would delete everyone’s mods, only to publish updates that force many people to have to wipe their mods.

then i have no idea how you've never experienced mods breaking due to an update, because it's happened with (as far as i remember,) every single one 
The mods themselves aren't even what's broken. There's something goofy going on with the update system that's causing load orders to get borked if you tell the game to update your CC content (which you obviously shoudl do because there's fixed in them)
Oh yeah. Cool feature i noticed. Updating a mod nolonger shoves it to the bottom of the load order and it keeps its place

The whole "Bethesda broke all the mods" thing is a wildly over exaggerated meme at this point.
The UI mods(only) did get “broken” this time. Couldn’t just update the mod . Had to clear reserve space and start over without then.

There are clearly server problems and other problems with the new interface. Bit the mods themselves work fine…unless you had a ui mod in your LO prior to the update.

honestly my biggest gripe is with the search engine changes.

Yea the searching is not as good. How is that possible??? The interface LOOKS better. But it does not work better.
A few of the ui mods are available to use. Nordic ui had an update. Elden scrolls ui has an updated one, and this other guy has one up. Small ui tweeks like qwix still work. All font mods work and mods that change map marker color works fine too. As well as mods changing the interaction menu. And clear ui works

Yea they were able to update but if you had one of those in your LO prior you were screwed. Nothing could be done besides wipe everything and start again.
Yup i know. I used Sensible Interface with Nordic UI. Now i use Elden Scrolls UI with the updated Kontrol style hotkeys mod and a reworked dialog menu
I also use updated categorized favorites menu and Pastel map markers and Crafting recatigorized but those are the same as before
it's what happens when you listen to people who don't understand how the engine actually worked, and thus thought it was entirely broken. it never was (arguably it is now, considering the way it's meant to work isn't consistent across different accounts)
now it just sucks. so hard.

They were updating the mod menu for months before it released on the backend if we look at the things from steam and not once did they think how difficult it would be to search for a mod that has its name in 400 other mods because it has patches
A title search option would go a long way.
Would be helpful if mod authors didn't put mods into every category it could possible fit in and we could actually filter our searches like on bethnet. It would also be helpful if we could see more then like 100 mods in our library and bookmarks

Thing is, search sucked on the old site just as badly. That much hasn't really changed.
With the old system just install a mod cap and favorite the mod on bethnet and you could get around it. Sensible Interface increased the cap to 700 and i had like 650 mods favorited so i had plenty of room
I could SEE everything before even if it needed mod to do it. I can not do that anymore.

they both had the same one the entire time, aside from Xbox not being able to sort by anything other than Most Recent. which is the only criticism i can see levied towards it.
Nah. I got different results with the same search. Plus you could sort by MA.
My problem is even if i type the full name of a mod, baring i get disconnected while doing that fools errand, that mod i searched will be number 40 on the list.

I thought that as well. But look at your library and see if you see USSEP for example. It only shows you about 50 mods and half are CC. I was playing around with search’s yesterday and it seems to keep at 50 mods. It better in regards that it (generally) will give you what you want if you search out a specific mod for example. Innkeepers don’t escort. It will be the first mod shown. But if you look for, say, cbbe armor, it will only show you about 50 results.
i never had different results on the same searches until this new system, lol.

Still working, didn't try a search though. It allowed me to see my whole library content - 300 mods. Same for my favorites (well not all because I have more than 500). Without "Ugh", I could only see around 150 mods listed, including the 50 or 60+ Creation club "creations". It helped me a lot to rebuild my previous LO, without UI of course. Xbox Series X, currently running 161 mods.
Cheat room works fine on my Series X.

Dawn and Updated - Enhanced Lights and FX with either the Enhancer or Hardcore addons

Make sure you install any patches for interior changing mods you have for whatever interior lighting mod you use

There needs to be an aio of the outskirts mods too cuz even tho the mod limit is gone damn there are a lot of them along with all the patches needed. Also if you use ussep make sure you use the patch for it too and if you use an ai mod make sure you use its patch. Like immersive citizens or ai overhaul

You can install more then 150 mods on xbox now. My mod list is 209. A lot of the extra is patches tho

The hard esp limit is 251. Tho if you have any mods marked as esl you will be fine with those going over that esp limit as they have there own limit.
He also found out that at 270+ mods the game crashes to xbox home any time you try to look at your load order

At 209 i have to fight the load order for it not to crash. So installing anything new is very difficult if i need it to be anywhere except the bottom
You have been warned. Do not be a day1 xbox modder downloading 500 tiny mods and then complain to bethesda about how the games broken and make them cap it again
I'm finally able to use all my patches
My skyrim has never been more stable. I can actually patch my mods with the proper patches instead of hoping for the best

I screwed my mod list because i accidentally removed the unofficial patch to replace it with the other available one but then the game said not enough room. But there the same file size. So it didnt make sense. Soi gave upa few hours ago till i got the energy to get my load order in order again
Download the first one again and delete. Then hard reset.
Bethesda please can we get a 30fps toggle, no graphic changes or anything, purely a 30fps cap for a better experience with modded gameplay on xbox
Wouldnt let me. Now i csnt even load into the game. Before i wipe my mods im going to go in and build my load order so nothing vanishes on a google doc and then i can just have it incase i need to wipe for whatever reason
Anyone having issues on Xbox where Creation Club allows you to scroll the menu but will not let you pull up your load order, lists, etc. but only allows you to scroll through that main menu?
That’s very odd. Normally the mod that didn’t delete properly and causes ghost can be redownloaded when you know the one that caused it.

Ghost space is not a new thing sad that it didn’t get better with their server maintenance.
The problem is i already know the issues. But i dont understand how if i uninstall a mod and then reinstall the exact same mod i nolonger have the room all before i quit out of the game. Anyway once it crashed i cant launch my game anymore without it crashing before i even get to the press start screen
So im going to wipe my mods. But i dont want to lose anything by bethesda being bethesda so while they are all still installed and properly in that little section called library. Im going through and getting them all down on a google doc

debugging options are pretty limited on playstation due to the no custom assets thing. although they did say they added new default scripts in that resource pack so maybe more can be done now. haven't had a look through it yet.

I have added a room with everything in Skyrim AE and every crafting station (besides the one for the spider scrolls, requires a bit of work) to the Dragonborn items room in the QASMOKE Dev room, and moved the Dawnguard items to the room used for Dragonborn items, and moved the chest with Unarmed ...
can you get cbbe and unp body types with the creation club or do i have to use nexus
you can get UNP, but I've been having problems with the head not matching the body, and I don't know which mod I should look for to correct it.

Don’t know if it’s been asked before and I have a screen shot to go with it, but my “creations” menu is only showing one mod needing an update, a wide expanded image of it and nothing else. Showing load order shows my mods installed, also with wide expanded images. Is there a fix for this?

It's.a UI mod not compatible with the new update causing that, you will need to clear your reserve space and start again, i have a UI mod that works fine and there are other options also available

Hey, I don’t know if this has been discussed earlier but I’ve downloaded an updated version of Elden Scrolls ui and it all works perfectly (even with Creations menu) but a lot of the text, ie/ dialogue options and notifications, is very squished together and barely readable. Is this an issue for anyone else? Not sure if it’s just this ui mod.
I’m wondering if it’s because it uses assets from Untarnished ui, which hasn’t been updated?
Do you guys have any recommendations for a challenging mod playthrough like cristobot's arch enemy mod? I liked the mod but it keeps on crashing the game in certain places which a lot and i tried to turning off all my mods expect for this and it is that mod that keeps my game crashing.

Mine definitely works and others have conformed it, there isn't many others that are compatible, if you're using something else that changes the main menu then that's the culprit

You can also disable all. You don't have to nuke. I didn't.
I didn't have to nuke my 150. I disabled all and hard reset.
I simplifying it. Its was a process of spamming the disabled all. Jus hmu on a discord or somewhere. I help. Just remember though. Every mod you have interacted with is in your library and bookmarks so true nuking to clean that would be a good idea. Just I had to do 1400 so expect it to take awhile.

Depending on your definition of stable. Skyrim never had one that didnt ctd once in every couple hours. Heck most console games. Even NBA, dragon age, etc.

Always take pictures of your load order on your phone. So you know where and how.
I will say, another positive I like, is not having to necessarily rely on bundles anymore.

No. Just rasr saves you time with the start. Alt start is great for role play but with rasr. Helgen is accessible by fast travel and you get to skip going into helgen. You only have to walk around to the front helgen.
I'm not worried about that. I might just replace the graphical mods with some less performance intensive ones. Cause I like the landscapes offered by this modlist a lot, and it seems to be an overload of graphical rendering that is causing the crashes, even skeevers potato mode can't fix it

You don’t have to go to Helgen if you use alt start either. Just get close-ish. If you hear the dragon fly by then go to Riverwood and talk with them there.

It's a bug with UI mods. Bethesda inserted a new option for disabling the missing content check and not all of the UI mods have been updated to account for this.
The result is that when you go to change settings, it's "off by one" and instead knocks the difficulty down to the lowest level.

I find it perfectly fine. Too many overhauls of this type want to turn the game into Dark Souls or something.
wildcat is all ive ever rly needed. i found the souls-like overhauls to be way too clunky, which duh. it's an imitation of one engine in the other.
I dug into Wildcat in xEdit and made a table of difficulty values comparing Vanilla, Wildcat, and the Wildcat Realistic Damage plugin so we can manually change Novice in game (through the MCM) how we actually want the difficulty to be. I'm hoping this markdown table formats properly.

howdy, so i started a save during the maintenance, and didn’t have my creation club/anniversary content installed yet. i downloaded it after the maintenance and it hasn’t loaded in. is there any way to fix that? or should i just begrudgingly start a new save

It's super obnoxious. It's like Creations is trying to run the show and I have to manually activate all my mods all over again and sort them by hand, alt tabbing back and forth between MO2 and the game. What the heck!

I literally have to get all my mods sorted out in MO2, enable all my plugins, run LOOT, TAKE A PICTURE OF THE LOAD ORDER, boot the game, open Creations, manually enable every plugin one by one, and then individually move them into the order LOOT suggested. I'm livid.
I have an Xbox so dont use MO2 but yeah its annoying -bethesda is obligated to fix this both from a financial, moral and marketing perspective
I just realized it's also missing things too. Completely missed SkyUI, like it wasn't even there.
the least bethesda can do is give us a compensatory 500 atoms i mean 500 creation club credits and maybe even a free in-game nylon textured backpack

The way I see it, MO2 is unable to manage mods if Creations takes precedence and invalidates all mods you install through MO2
Hey @echo pivot , I figured it out. I narrowed it down to SSE Engine Fixes ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17230?tab=posts ) and they found that you can set EnableAchievementsWithMods = false to solve this in EngineFixes.toml

CC can be added mid-save. But I think it does have to be enabled first in the load order menu.

"Headsplitter!" Is the closest. But it just adds fallout style headshots to the game as well as knocking helmets off
If it's not logging you in idk, if you log in and get a scuffed version of the old ui for the mod menu then it is a a problem with your ui mods and you need to wipe your reserved space and only use recently updated ui mods

Im using USSEP and its Niflholm. ive had both if these on before maybe a year ago and they were fine. i dont think the house was updated
USSEP does have a few editor markers after the last update. He is aware. Should be fixed in next update.

I don’t think the editor markers have ever been a thing on PC. It is a unique and sometimes common problem when porting mods to Xbox.

I am trying to choose a mod to unlevel the NPC's, and I did not realize how massive an undertaking this would be. Morrowloot Ultimate, Skyrim Revamped, Open World Loot... there are so many options, and they're all such big overhauls. How can anyone possibly decide?

Yes lots. I had to fight the load order today after updating a mod. The patches only stayed active once i put them back where they originally belonged in my load order and it took three tries to get the update below ussep

Ussep being below cc content is fine. Patches are suposed to be below what they patch after all. So both my unofficial patch and my unofficial cc patch being below cc is perfectly fine. It just needs to be above other mods
You want patches to be below the things they patch and things that might make changes to those patched things to be below those

Ussep has always been loaded AFTER all of the dlcs. CC is treated as dlc so its obvious it goes below it too
On pc this is obvious since the mod organizers can show the esp files for the dlc. It is the first time we are experiencing this on console tho since normally it is hidden information. Even with the old UI for the mod manager the CC content was always loaded before any mods you used

For everyone: If you are using Alternate Start after the update and the statue will not let you talk to it, save your game, close the game, reopen the game and load back in and talk to the statue, the interaction will function properly

Ive heard the same thing happening to a few people. I have not heard the solution nor the cause but it possibly is a mod. A lot of mods that touch the main menu have broken the creation menu on console so i assume its the same for pc
Maybe use a mod organizer to disable the offending mod if possible

Ok look up orginizer on youtube. There are external ways to access mods for pc without using the creations menu. It really opens up what mods you can use

I have a ton. But i dont know what your pc can handle. Just try some mods like Ordinator and Imperious as well as an alternate start mod to start you off

That's normal. Dropping mods from an existing save is something you shouldn't be doing.
Im only doing it to test ui mods. Im having some issues with the built in oblivion icons with one of my ui mods not working so i was testing some things and seeing if my font mod was causing a problem. But one harmless mod that wont break anything if removed now prevents me from doing this on the recent update
I always have done this when testing things since the save isnt gonna last past the mod testing faze anyway. Still find it wholly annoying that it stops me from doing it but like i get it for those not experienced or think they can drop huge mods from there lo mid playthrough without issues

@tight hull we might be having two different conversations. This is what I am referring to about enabling Creations. I am not sure what you mean by “game tab”. The other pictures are of the versions of Skyrim on my Xbox as taken yesterday. I am unable to login to Xbox today as my husband is using the game room TV for ball games and I have zero interest in going through the process of moving my Series to another TV. I have Game Pass and Xbox Series X. If you are talking about PC, I am not currently playing there. I’m modding and have no mods installed other than what I’m working on and USSEP.

For those of u on Xbox, the mod "ring and scrolls of quest fixing" is awesome, but don't have the ring on when u enter raven rock mine it crashes ur game, unequip the ring & u should be fine:p
Thanks; always happy to see people enjoying my mods. I'm not sure why it would crash at Raven's Rock, though, since the ring doesn't actually do anything. It's only used by a few potentially broken dialogue paths for certain NPCs, such that instead of "If the player has reached X stage", it's now "If the player has reached X stage OR has the ring equipped".
Also, there's no reason to ever equip the ring unless you're following the instructions from the book and it tells you to use it. Again, it doesn't do anything except let you get through a handful of dialogue checks. The scrolls do most of the work in this mod.

Something to note ive just found out. If you update a mod by clicking on the mod itself there is a chance it will reorganize itself.
However if you press start(xbox) and select the update all creations option it will leave it exactly where you placed it on your load order

Most recent version, Installed from nexus, using vortex, no quest mods and yes I have ussep
if this issue is new after the update then revert to an older skyrim install (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=889624474) if this issue predates the update or persists after reverting, move alternate start to the bottom of your load order and try again.

It's not a version problem because it was working earlier today but after I enabled some more mods it isn't working, I have tried disabling everything that isn't needed and it still isn't working
what mod caused it to stop working? disabling a mod may still allow it to interfere with your load order, especially if any were patches or overhauls

Try making a new character and see if that fixes the issue. There may be residual data baked into existing saves even after you delete or disable mods.

If i have bought the Anniversary Edition Upgrade and want to install the Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patch - is it safe to install it as a merged ESL-Patch as offered during the install in the FOMOD or is it better to install the individual ESL-Patches?
Edit: I used the merged patch and did a short test run with the new skyrim version - no problems so far.

I dont use skyui. I am on console and there are 2 ui mods i use since unlike pc i cant just use whatever i want. Anyway i use Sensible Interface and then layer Elden Scrolls UI ontop of it
I have found dropping a save in the alt start room. Close the game and reopen it and then load up your save and immediately talk to the statue and it will work
I asked the same question yesterday and Arthmoor suggested that the difficulty being reset to Novice was related to UI mods

Does someone know if the help command in the console of the pc version does not work anymore or has been renamed to something else?
It lists some numbers to follow if you check the console. I don't recall all of them offhand but it will tell you after you do the help request. So if I did:
help "sword" 0
It would list all things with "sword" in them since 0 is the number for "All".
Fallout 4's console works this way too.

I appreciate the update I am wondering if there is a timeline on the reference bug where the game stacks all the IDs of items in the game and never deletes those references later as it should. This is a game breaking bug that impacts all save games
I don't mind being reset to novice because i have a mod to change the damage per difficult and novice is just 1x to 1x so it does the raw damage numbers. Its how i like to play anyway with everything being fair

when in the mod’s files tab, there’s a dedicated button to install for MO2, though i know that sometimes isn’t always the case
thing is, i never used vortex before, since im starting with MO2
On the download page hit download with mod manager and your browser should give you a prompt to allow mo2 to handle those links.
Click on settings. Then Nexus
Select "Associate with "Download with manager" links"
yeah that’s right, you’d have to associate your MO2 with nexus. if that still doesn’t work you can still install the mod’s zip file itself and insert that zip file into MO2

The German translation should be a seperate mod. Download it and place it below USSEP.
Oh there's a couple of German translation mods for USSEP on the nexus but the one I've used before is just install and play. Just make sure to load it after USSEP. Double check the mod page for instructions as well.

mod patches or mods that rely/patch on other mods are always placed under the original mod or the ‘master file’
oh alr, noted (btw how do i install skse in MO2?, is it the same as other mods or does it need a special installation?)
skse is a special installation. for MO2 in particular it’s a bit more complex, you’d be better off watching a youtube video on how to do it
Skse installation is
"Put it in your Skyrim folder, next to the exe"
And in mo2, you click the drop down where it says Skyrim.
Then click edit
Then you can add a new exe, and you navigate to skse and add that
basically, you need to launch skyrim via the SKSE executable through MO2, NOT the original skyrim executable. like i said, watch a youtube video on how to get to that step in the first place

as Pain said, Creation Kit is terrible atm. the unofficial CK Fixes no longer works due to the update, so some people are just taking a break yntil that gets fixed. personally that's what i'm doing, still gonna work on stuff but not updating or uploading anything until CK Fixes gets updated (idk if there's an ETA on that either)

Any tips on fixing up a load order? so i have texture overhaul mods installed but theres one small issue. When i fast travel in the game the character thats on the loading screen sometimes pops up with no textures at all.
Not sure without seeing the load order, best recommendation is to get a mod for brand new load screens. Personally I like starlit lakes

none of these stand out as problematic mods, you should try to follow a logical load order or install the one that automatically does it for you on pc (dont know the name sorry, im xbox)
Im playing on xbox rn, this is the load order for it. Its just confusing because the mods i have wouldnt cause huge problems. But i still find it strange that the textures wont load for the loading screen when i fast travel in game.

If something still doesnt work, move whatever mod it is to the bottom and it should fix it. Your load order is small so you should be fine

I did look into those textures, but i prefer old kingdom it has a medieval look to it, and the ebony armor retexture looks great

The daedric armor also looks great minus the helmet, everything looks good besides the helmet.

Huh. So I just loaded an old save with a different LO and, when prompted, hit 'download missing mods'. It went ahead and perfectly downloaded DawnV2 and USSEP. So, seems like it can connect fine. Except when it....can't

I have, the CK will generate it in lower case already so when it came time to pull the swap I just used the filename it gave me initially.

slow down there mister, i wouldn’t clean mods unless you know there’s a problem with them. as a general rule, don’t mess with itms, as typically mod authors would prefer you not to do that
but really based on what mods you’re trying to use together, the answer is always just “it depends’”

Something about the new update has made it so file deleation is not as good as it used to be. Before it would build a few mb at a time but now its in the hundrads every time you remove big mods
Guess that explains why my extra space sat at 3.6 gigs instead of a whole 5, after i cleared out my load order.

It’s just the size of the mod you deleted. Delete a 10MB mod and get ghost space? It will be 10MB. 1GB mod. Will be 1GB of ghost space. Etc.

No its some random number of mb of data that just does not get properly removed and because the way the thing is handled on the console it is impossible to overwrite it like a normal like flashdrive ot whatever. So it ends up stuck in this thing of ghost data thats inaccessible yet still present in the storage space. On pc this is solved by defragging the drive or properly shreding files but for console this issue is solved by wiping the reserved space
It is very much possible to just overwrite existing data, even on a console.
Hard drives don't care about that stuff if you tell them to overwrite data.
Defragmentation is relatively unrelated to unused space.
What defragementation does (and this only matters for HDD, not SSD) is it analyzes the whole disk. It then checks which chunks of data are supposed to belong together, then rewrites everything on the drive, so stuff that should be read closely next to each other is written closely next to each other.

Paid mods only work if mod authors themselves want to apply for it. And it does directly help the mod authors too. So it is not simply greed.
Yeah but they could of messed with the creation club menu and not the mod menu. Bundling everything together has broken so many things. No mods touched the Creation Club menu. I get they wanted to improve the ui but did they even test it? I mean it looked like they did but did they only test it with like 3 mods and nothing else?

Cause paid mods can't use resources of any other mod.
I'm speaking broadly. New resources have already been added, and there are new papyrus functions as well.
Which is the worst decision of them all about paid mods imo.
The inability to share things between mods, means it is impossible to have cross compatibility. You can try to, but no mod can build on another. Frameworks can't be used.
Paid mods exist in their own littel ecosystem where each mod exists on its own.
Meanwhile free mods can build on top of each other.
Also the can't use resources of other mods is not quite accurate. They have to be standalone, but there are ways to use data from other mods without an implicit dependency. Whether it would fly is ambiguous, though, as carto has said it would be a case by case basis.

That could lead to very jank and buggy solutions. And paid mods are usually supposed to be stable.

Yes modders can release free mods that require payed content. Just as they could for creation club

Free mods can use the content of paid mods.
But paid mods can't directly use the content of any other mod.
CC content wasn't allowed to use the content of other mods either. So nothing has changed there.

I lost my current playthrough that i had to fight through 2 dialogue menu bugs to get started as well as 2 crashes when trying to equip a weapon where i had to fight my load order to not crash to xbox home to reorginize because one fer decided to remove his freaking mod

Welcome to the world of "you don't actually get to save stuff you download".
It's why I exclusively use websites like nexus where I can actually download a mod, and don't have to worry about steam, bethesda, etc. removing them from their website and my drive.

I'm not a fan of steam or bethesda just deleting mods I downloaded. Good reason or not. I saved it on my pc, so it should stay there.
Mods randomly vanishing for no reason off bethnet is not uncommon. It happend for fallout 4 too and then the mods got recently put back up once i assume the porter figured out what happend
How long something is up isn't relevant. If there was some sort of TOS violation found, it'll get taken down when they notice.
If someone uploads another's work without permission I don't see why you think you're justified in keeping it simply because you happened to download it before being removed.
Most mods with actual tos violations get taken down in a week. After that its a crap shoot as to why its gets pulled

Well there are not many addons for Alternate Start and it was one of the few of them. It had a load of options added too. It was a great addition. It worked perfectly well and broke nothing.
My point is why should my playthrough break because some one uploaded a bad port that no one even knew was bad 2 years ago

Nope its been in the live area for ages. I dont think it was ever in wip and even if it was it isnt like i could access it after the update. No ive wiped my order at least 6 times since the update came out

At least warn me when somthing gets removed. If your going to shoot me while im down i atleast want a freaking warning
There are only two alternate start addons now that that ones gone, dealing with another life with coming into adulthood starts so you can start as a teen, and some other random one that just skips the dragon soul collecting.

Wanting to be informed of deleted mods is fair.
But if you use a service like steam or bethesda's ingame mods to manage your mods, you agree to their terms, which means they have full control over it.
I do not agree with it personally, but it does make things a lot easier and they do explain it to you.
I'm sure people would get mad, but there's also nothing they can do about it.
If I delete my mod from the steam workshop for example, steam will remove that mod from every single person who had previously downloaded it.
It is a lot more creator friendly in that regard, in comparison to being enduser friendly. Which many creators appreciate.

Yes it would of been but at least id of been warned rather then starting my save and it telling me a mod it depends on is nolonger installed and me having to search bethnet to see if the mod was still on bethnet or not
So really all the warning does is tell you it's gone. That doesn't resolve the save not being able to start.
Not knowing if it was a bug where a mod removed itself like what's happend before or if it was completely off bethesda net like what happend this time.
Im 100% sure that bug isnt ever gonna get fixed.
And while i agree deleting a mod midplaythrough is bad. I didnt even delete the mod. Bethesda did. So i lose possibly hours upon hours of playthrough because they wanna whipe the mod?

@sonic fern Just FYI. Magus (the author you are referring to) deleted their mods because they don’t agree with the paid mod system. They didn’t do it to slight anyone nor could they really warn you if you aren’t in their discord.
I do not care who ultimately removed it from bethnet i care that bethesda removed it from my load order. It isnt like you have a button that says uninstall the mod on peoples games do you?
I can understand bethesda's choice of deleting content if the mod author requests it. It's very pro creator, which is why a lot of people were annoyed by Nexus for example after their changes.

As far as how the chain of events goes, we have a "Delete" button on our mod pages. Which is no doubt what that author used.

I learned that after a week, maybe two, if a mod is pulled from console it does get pulled from you LO (assuming it’s in your LO). Leaving you with a broken game and/or ghost space problems.
Not fun but kinda why I’m just sticking with long developed mods or authors I trust or follow for the time being.
I liked the alt start addon because it gave me more options. Just like i like every mod i use. If i was on pc id have over 6 thousand mods installed more then likely because thats how many mods i truely enjoy using. Im stuck at my now current 216 because im to broke to afford a strong pc.
I get mod authors being allowed to remove there mods just like a game dev can pull there games. If it was in your LO, you should still have it for a week or two. Enough time to start a new game or continue the game. The alt start already took place if your in the middle of a playthrough.
Yeah but there is a bug where if even one esp file is not active when you load into a save it just is an infinite black screen
Like if you play with 2 mods. Then disable one and load the save that had 2 active and hit no you wanna continue your playthroughs without the second mod. Well f you buddy you get to enjoy black screen simulator

Press start in the creations menu and click update all creations. It will keep your lo in check and just update everything. Am actually good feature considering how my whole game crashes if i stay in my load order to long
Intercepting crashes and forcing a program to remain online and running is almost never a good idea.

Depends on the severity of the error.
I doubt it's a good idea in Minecraft either. Crashes usually indicate bad memory states and keeping a program alive once that's happened a seriously bad idea unless someone's actual life depends on it not crashing.
Usually a program crashes due to unhandled errors.
If it crashes even with proper error management, there is something seriously going wrong and a restart is a far more reliable option to fix it.
Not on a properly functioning modern OS. Unless you manage to somehow trigger a kernel violation.

Mannnnnn…. I was finally able to get into the CC without getting the “couldn’t connect to Bethesda.net” error.. to only have the game crash when I LITERALLY just scroll down to reorganize my LO. I mean what the actual **** is wrong with this update dude….

I’m really not the complaining kinda guy, I’m seriously not y’all. But it’s getting pretty ridiculous how much my game crashes cause of either reason A, B or C… I know I don’t know anything about coding and development, but I’m pretty sure I’d test everything in all available platforms before releasing a supposed update……
Bethesda can't test your mod setup of 30+ different mods. It is literally not possible.
If you want to have a more stable experience, you'll simply have to live with vanilla skyrim with maybe the unofficial patch.
The argument there is they can’t plan for every mod…
… but they should’ve at least planned for main menu mods or hud mods.

It is impossible to test for every mod setup. You can test for standalone mods, and maybe a few combined ones, but testing for larger setups is impossible.
Bethesda's only obligation is to make sure the vanilla game works. Which it does. They cannot possbly test the millions of combinations of mods we're all using to see if the game likes it or not. Especially since that's not even going to be consistent from user to user with identical load orders.
Again, it has nothing to do with an Existing LO that’s worked for years.. to suddenly just crash before even loading up the menu to reorganize the LO..
Yes ,obviously. That isn’t my point brotha.. the mods keep scrambling in the LO. I try reorganize it, for the system to crash entirely the moment I scroll through it….. I clear reserve space, hard reset. Load game up (hoping to not get “couldn’t connect to Bethesda.net”) get half way through the order I’ve made (that’s always worked before and recently after the update) to scroll down & have the game crash over & over after installing the mods in order.
& within accordance with LO templating..
I don’t think we have an answer to that particular problem just yet. Happened to me too. Like I said earlier, I’m just waiting a month to see if this gets fixed or whatever.
Not sure if this solution will work but you could try saving your LO to bnet and then just load it up. So any changes should just revert to the LO you saved.
Just an idea. I haven’t tested that myself yet.

That is true. But it does seem that their updated mod interface is causing problems. In most cases it’s not the mods it’s the new glitches in Bnet/UI.
Yes, I have no problems playing with my LO. When I scroll down in it on Beth net, it crashes. However, I have learned that it crashes less if you load in-game menu, wait for a few minutes so everything loads (i.e. you can see the pictures of everyting) and then scroll down.
Maybe because you get the old layout when checking in game ? Or because there are no actions to be triggered ?
it crashes less often if your load order is small, or if you scroll slower for some reason. it seems like it has something to do with the speed your accessing the load order tab

Update: Well it would seem that @fallen plank was not only correct in suggesting to save LO & restore after hard resetting (still annoying to do), but it also fixed the issue of overloading the system when you download a new mod to your LO & crashes.

This is the same issue that was occurring with me yesterday evening. I had to unlink & relink my Xbox account from Bethesda.net (you have to ask for support by Bethesda’s support team). Then the issue after was my LO would crash when I scrolled through. Woke up & everything has been working good.
If you search for the mods you are looking for on Bnet and sort by Play Station you can see if they are available.
This is my first time modding on Skyrim (Xbox) and I'm not sure if the more powerful mods go at the top of the list or at the bottom, I've looked at some examples so I know what order to put them but I'm not sure if they start from the top or bottom
That’s not how you load order. There are some templates out there that organize by categories and help spot conflicts and overwrite. The most important principle is lower one wins/overwrites any above that touch the same things. And some types of mods work better below others. I’d recommend finding a logical load order template and follow that. “Power” is not a factor at all. Master files like USSEP do go at the top. But they are not more “powerful”
I'm only really usuing visual enhancements mods and like 2 gameplay mods and was just confused about which end to start at
Depending on what you are using it may not really matter at all. But for visual mods like mesh/textures the order may matter if you have any overwrite. Whatever you want to see needs to be lower if they cover any of the same items. And mesh above texture is usually the way to go. Also read mod descriptions thoroughly as they usually give decent instructions. (Many will reference the category in the LLO they belong)

The gameplay mods are the marry me serana one and a debug menu
To save anyone else the disappointment: Shadetree Lodge is not spouse or adoption friendly. It really should say it in the description like Winterfrost does. Probably safe to pass on the Verified Creators houses if integration is important to you too.

and even then it's as simple as installing a patch. I.e I know northern roads has patches for all conflicting CC content
Using USSEP is more about what it does. Not what mods “rely” on it. It fixes hundred maybe thousands of things in game. The update fixes a few things. But most bugs still exist.

Yes. AE is not really a new game version. It is just SSE with all creation club content. To fix the bugs for the added creation club content you need the USCCP in addition to USSEP.

I would say so. The CC content is mostly only "bad" for being so expensive individually and in total. But AE is way cheaper than buying all the CC content
It's one of the reasons why the new paid mods are such a slap in the face cause we're back to square one in that situation
I don’t really see any problems with that short list. I would maybe move your map mod to the bottom just in case. And if using graphics pack you might as well use all the add ons as well. To cover “everything”.

Yeah that's how i feel too. That mods been through hell and back and still stayed top dog. But i know a lot of people are jumping on AI Overhaul.
AIO sold itself as being “more compatible” out of the box than IC. It’s really not.
Plus IC makes more and better AI changes IMO. Feels more “alive” overall.

Well first off because its been around forever it has a patch for literally everything. And second the only incompatibilities are like pathing issues. Like with jks whiterun outskirts the carriage driver likes to sit in a rock that was added
Yea it’s not. You need patches for AIO just about as often as you need them for IC. I like IC better. So any city overhauls I use have a patch. All works fine. But as with any mods you have to ensure compatibility and use patches when needed.
yeah, i noticed IC sometimes likes to add extra objects at certain places, which i guess isn’t made very clear in the mod description
About the only ones I wish it were compatible with that it is not are a few of the Arthmoor villages.

On another mod battle, RS Children needs way more patches then The Kids Are Alright Renewal
Not even one single fruity pebble faced child even with mod added kids like from some of the new towns added by the people of skyrim and the great cities towns and villages
But if you skip those patches, the most you'll see are some half-hidden markers, rather than structural and navmesh conflicts.
Dragon Carved Armor is bugged. It used to have both Light and Heavy, now I just see the Heavy version in the crafting menu.
I love when bundles have a smaller file size then if you just downloaded all the mods individually. Im gonna struggle fitting rhem all in but its gonna be worth it for my ability to patch my mods better. Time to wipe everything and hope for the best lol

Not possible, you can add to bookmarks and library, but not your actual Load Order mate

Most people are clearing their reserve to try and clear up the crashing with the Creations menu. But that means losing everything. So it's wait and see if they make a fix, or start over and hope it doesn't crash again.
If you can, you could try on another system, but not everyone has access to multiple consoles.

Sounds like nothing has been patched yet, ik they said oh UI mods causes issues rn but I don’t even have the mod enabled so I can continue to mod my load order. Idk what mods are causing this much issue. I can’t even play the game since the new update because everytime I go to mod it messes up and now I have to delete my entire reserve again to have the ability to install mods again
Few things to note
When your load order is above 120 mods looking at the load order has a chance to crash the game, the chance increases the closer you get to 200 mods where its a 100% chance it will crash
UI mods have been broken and will show the old menu, there are a few updated ones that are safe to use
The ui mods safe to use are as follows
- kontrol - updated
- Sensible Interface - Updated (SWF Edition)
- Elden Scrolls UI (Updated)
- Vanilla Plus Controls - Updated
- Paulys UI - Compatible with creations menu
- Hotkey Controller - Updated
- Untarnished UI (Devils Edit 2)
- All, and i mean all, Favorites menu mods
- All, and i mean all, pure font overhauls
- Mods that exclusively modify the dialog menu appearance
- Mods that affect map icons
- Mods that reorganize the crafting menus
All of these listed mods are safe to use and have been tested by myself and others. If it is uploaded by Tommas or Devilsplay it will work 100% as they only port functional mods. The older non updated mods need to be removed eventually but for now make sure you look for ones that are newer and say updated
Skyrad updated his UI mods as well. They work fine now. Tested today.
So, I just solved my issue with the Dragon Carved Armor. The reason the Light variant is missing is because I installed a version that was only the Heavy variant. The problem here is that the armor set that I downloaded and the one I actually wanted to download are useingbthe exacst same thumnail. I should look at my LO spreadsheet and include the mod author's names so this doesn't happen again. At least it's just an armor set that can only be crafted at a forge.
Did the mod New Beginnings - Live Another Life Extension get pulled down? I had it when I rebuilt my LO. I still have it, but now the thumbnail has been replaced with the Imperial Legion symbol, and the description is gone.
bethesda, what the hell is this? I uninstalled an eye texture mod and when it asks me if I still want to load my save despite the mod being gone, instead of LOADING MY SAVE, it just boots me to the creation club menu lmfao.

Yes. The mod author pulled all their mods as they don’t agree with the new paid creations.

is anyone aware of a JKs College/UCOW patch? Closest I could find was patches for JKs/ICOW and JKs/OCOW (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/67820?tab=posts) and it rather cheekily says it doesn't work with UCOW. Is there a reason for something like that to be impossible? Or has it already been done elsewhere perhaps?

Most recent skse version is build 2.2.5 for steam/Ae

Well i use the ultimate dodge mod myself so im not one to talk about dodging in a negative light
Dodging is essential if you use a lot of combat overhauls or make the damage npcs can do crazy by unleveling the npcs or normalizing healthpools so things die quick.
Helps keep you alive and vigor is made for those kinds of load orders

So every time I boot up my SkyrimAE, it’s fine. I can go into the mod menu and do whatever I need to just fine. But as soon as I try to make a new character the game crashes. On my PS5 copy of the game, that issue doesn’t arrise whatsoever but on my Xbox Series S it’s different. Any fixes for it? Any help would be appreciated!

I‘m getting really frustrating with the creation menu and some mods (JK AiO, The Great Towns, ELFX and some updates for it)…. 😞
First of all when I example download the JK‘s AiO by Jkrojmal… they also automatically download an other JK Skyrim AiO mod from an other author (this was also on my bookmark) When I deleted it from my bookmark this happens again.
Second when I organize everything again and close the menu the game crash and I‘m back on the Xbox home menu. When I restart Skyrim and the creation menu, these mods above are not downloaded anymore so the vicious circle starts again 😔

That makes sense, because when I delete the 2nd mod with the esp file name and close the menu, it’s crash. When I come back these mods are all deleted…
