im trying to learn how to make gun mods and its making me want to rip my hair out

Sounds like you didn’t set up the instance naming rules and assign the object template keywords to them. There are two different injection scripts for Fallout 4. Addform() and MergeWith().

Some Star Wars and Fallout 4 Fans could of course also try to bring their favorite "pod Racer" into the Game with these Constitution Engines
to easy the Engine Stress, we could use this solution. You sit on the Hovercraft, your ride accelerate some seconds and then goes into Loading Screen. Decelerate when reaching the destination point. to have some immersion with Engine Power Up and Down SFX

Oh, found out something about Vault ||120|| on some PC Gaming News site
I came up with some [suggestion/speculation/idea] for it
I hide it within Spoiler tags to be save, just in case:
||Vault 120 the only Underwater Vault in Fallout 4. That did not make it live in the Game. And Todd said, this would had been their own Bioshock inspiration Vault. In left over Game files they thought to use an Submarine to use as an Entrance||
||But if it's an Institute Vault, we'd have an in and out solution from a certain point in the main quest, right? No need of the Submarine. But to explain it's existent, it was Surfaced when the Bombs fell and Shockwaves pushed it underwater and crashed there. That should be done. ||
||But how, what and why does Vault 120 exist down there? Preparation tests for Vault dwellers to live at the bottom of the seas?||
||These Vaults should be thick enough to withstand the pressure there and Earthquakes from Bombs, but it must have been a real pain in the bushwhacker to build this Vault. Unless there is still an ancient Maintenance tunnel from its construction phase, you can save yourself some modified Power Armor or Submarine.||
||But to maintain the thrill, over the years this maintenance tunnel was flooded and some Air bubbles have formed to give some risking diving there to reach Vault 120. But there is no guarantee that Vault 120 has not simply bricked up this access. So bring explosives that will work underwater for safety. But then we need a kind of "natural water bubble Air lock" so that Vault 120 is not flooded because of us. The air pressure of the bubble in there holds back the water from the maintenance tunnel and a partially flooded vault 120 tunnel holds it back. Perhaps some incave can help||
||It seems to me they wanted to grow algae to produce oxygen so all their Vault can be self-sufficient. So no more need of external Air filters. Algae as "green Vault lungs" like trees in Bioshock||

Is this something you're working on? Saudi Arabia announced in January they were building a tourist attraction city thing under water. You could follow their progress and see how they're doing things for lore inspiration on how things got built.
Does anyone know why Fallout 4 on consoles doesn't support INI modding? Some people need a mod for the Xbox version to remove the fresnel rimlight effect from the character models, which can apparently be done pretty easily with config file editing on PC, but isn't available on console for whatever reason.
It doesn't support it or removal of the pipboy scanlines. (There's a couple others as well) Debug scripting is also not available and all scripts should be created without messagebox debug or whatever's in the messagebox will not show up. If you have to create a message box, then create the message and use the correct papyrus function to display it.
There are several INI edits that do work.
Most of my first mods for console were me making adjustments and tweaks.
I'm getting some conflicting information about this. I found a Reddit thread saying how it's impossible to edit INI settings on consoles, and someone I know has told me about how other people online have told them that editing INI settings on consoles is impossible; specifically in reference to what I was trying to do (removing the rim lighting from characters).
Rim lighting, scan lines, shadows are things that I know will not work. There are ton of edits you should not edit for console but they are available or were the last time I broke my game with them.
Ah, okay. Is there a way I could override the shaders or materials with ones that don't have rim lighting.
What is the reason for the removal? You won't be able to see the character in third person. It's annoying AF.
I understand that the rimlight is there for gameplay reasons, but it doesn't quite fit with Fallout 4 aesthetically in some peoples' view.
Unsure about materials, but there is an option to select when making them, but I don't know which one specifically use the option. You'd have to redo all materials for the game if that were the case which is problematic for compatibility purposes and not advised for console because of the limited amount of mods. Having to install patch after patch after just for one tiny thing doesn't sound like a good idea at all.
As far as shaders, most of the ones I'm familiar with are just the effect shaders that use the alpha blending.
No, i just read it on some gaming news Page about this Secret. My Mind Cinema instand sprang into action and picture me this Mine from Fallout 4 that goes way deep down and on the Bottom you find some Hints of an Cult suberged under Water. Something like that for the Maintaince Tunnel. It is just an Idea, no working Project. If someone want to take this Inspiration for his/her own. be my Guest! Good Luck!

Unblocks Shaun's dialogue options for one time after loading to allow you to move him to another settlement. The quest then shuts down when he unloads from memory.

The compiler error is telling you it’s looking for a script property named “Current.” Per the screenshot of your script, there is no script property named “Current.” Create one and the issue should be resolved.

Its because if someone were to offer a code solution, then you have forced the person helping you into retyping your script from a blurry image. All that when you could have just posted text.

While it is rather unhelpful for assisting with papyrus issues, if you need to post a pic from PC there's the Snipping Tool that works quite well and won't blur your screenshot: Windows Logo Key + Shift + S or simply press the PrtSc button and paste into an application like MS Paint.
For posting papyrus snippets, Discord uses a watered down version of Markdown.

Generally for scripting that means posting your full source. The complete error text, if any. Then describe what you expected to happen, and then describe what actually happened. Sometimes screenshot are appropriate. Modding can be hard, especially at first. Keep trying, and keep asking for help 🙂

It will save the script source file (PSC), but it will not produce an executable file (PEX). There are two files for every script, the source PSC and the executable PEX.
Your PSC has been saved but because of errors in the source file it could not compile the PEX. A reason for the error is at the bottom of the script window.
The game ONLY understands PEX files. The PSC are not used by the game at all.
If you have come from previous games like New Vegas or earlier then this will be huge change for you. Earlier games has no external script files at all. The script text was baked directly into the CK form. Ye olde times.
I see, your working on a fragment script. The source doesnt work like a normal script. Assuming you screenshotted the entire fragment panel then the problem Current is on some other fragment panel which belongs to the same Fragment source file. 🥴

@honest merlin Yeah you have the legendary slots. I was looking for something that could go along with their robes that spawn on the npc's. Something realistic like post war leather and metal armor with CoA paint to give them some variety. Being in a Crater deep in the glowing sea with mutants galore or in a puddle surrounded by raiders seems they would want a little protection if anything for some of the guards.
With the Children Of Atom's Army it's an are made as all in one sets. 2.) Heavy Leather Armor 3.) Heavy Metal Armor are workshop NPC's so assign them the workshop of you choice.

@honest merlin Not to worried about having Children of Atom settlers. Just would like something small to give the existing commonwealth cults some extra variety and protection. They can't very well worship Atom in peace if they're all waring robes. Kinda make them similar to Far Harbor's, but not as militaristic.

Yes. It will still update. If you’re using F4SE, the team is really quick with a turn around time of a few days. Once that gets updates, the other mods follow though I’d double check the last active date on any F4SE modder to see if they’re planning to update or if they’ve moved on to a different thing. F4SE mods are required to have their code available per the agreement with the silverlock team when they download the source. It’s in the licensing terms in the download, so if one person doesn’t update, another might and you can always get into coding yourself to update. I think Buffout 4 has two versions because someone had to update when the original coder left the modding scene for a bit

It is not optional. Its just not enforced. But I guess your right in a round about way. A policy with no teeth isnt one at all.

Hi, I do coding for modding tools for Total War,
BUT for some reason I cannot get the Power Armor texture mods to load.
No matter what I do, the first Power Armor one gets stays the same, same textures ?
(other textures DO change fine)
With out more info it's hard to help, common problems is having the Object Mod doing the texture swap not set up correct or the material file.

It's a small mod so you can add .esl to the end and use the Set as type .esl

You probably are looking for a NPC marked as a template, if you know that waht you want goto the the templates tab and uncheck items

If you are changing EncChildrenOfAtomTemplate00, the stack of encounters that can happen roll from this one
so will that do it?
Ohhhhh I get it now so when I edit the gamma gun LL it's self it changes it for any NPC that uses that LL
So because I changed the gamma gun ll to use handmade
Any character that uses that LL_gamma gun will have the hand made?

That why I said you can just add het handmade straight to the NPC pocket too, just in case you have a mod that utilizes that LL will not be using that chang.

Object template has a default of how the weapons spawn

The keywords on a LL can make the Object template spawn the gun in different ways
If you don't want this to change all of them in game, make a copy of this gun and use that as needed

I want to start a new fallout playthrough on PC (coming from xbox) and want to mod it so I can do a raider playthrough. I was wondering if I should start now or if I should wait until after the new update. Any thoughts?

Depends on how much you plan to mod it hahaha , if you plan to do extensive modding I'd go for it but update may brake some mods, if your doing light modding you might be ok
@hot chasm I plan on doing moderate modding. Imma look into sim settlements conqueror, some raider overhaul mods, a mod like scurge or true damage to make the game a little more realistic and deadly (also cuz nobody likes bullet sponge enemies), a couple weapon and armor mods, and maybe some graphic and texture enhancement mods. Would that count as too heavy? And @icy gate i know they said some mods may not work but that they are taking steps to minimize mod breaking, but I also know they weren't specific at all so idk
yeah, that's why i say wait till after the update before you start modding.

i don't think outfits or reskins of existing armor will be an issue anything mroe than that might be an issue
In that case, you may want to go ahead and start moding so you can get an idea of which mods you like and can keep an eye on if they are broken by the update.
my main concern is I don't want to have to wit weeks or even months just for the mods I planned on installing to be updated

yeah, you're going to want the unofficial patch and go ahead and get the cheat terminal. Also FOSE (Fallout script extender) is going to be a requirment for many mods

yeah i installed it thru steam, didnt launch, moved it to fo4 dir, opens log but still doesnt launch
its missing steamapi in the main folder and some other dlls too from the error messagess i got
You have at some point installed a mod that extends the creation kit like f4se does for the game. Are you sure you didnt pirate your game and try to download what you thought was the complete creation kit?

The log you posted is not from the CK. Completely uninstall Creation Kit Platform Extended, or correctly reinstall Creation Kit Platform Extended.

When you are signed in to the website, you can "Favorite" a mod then with the in game mod manager look at your favorites

You can see and favorite off of Bethesda's web site. I do it from my phone all the time. Just can't install without the game.
Go to the bars on the top left go to Creations and Mods, go to Fallout 4. Then log in.
Click My Mods to log in, after that click it once again. Then change the filter to favorites.
Don't know if this is the correct place to ask this or not. I'm working on a student project for grad school in FO4CK, and I already searched for an answer to this question and didn't really find anything definitive or official. Do we know exactly what the update will do for CK? Steam doesn't have an option to fully turn off automatic updates, and many of us working on projects in FO4CK are worried the update might negatively affect our projects right before they're due (4/29).

Does anyone know any minutemen mods or mods that change artillery's radius, and smoke/fire cloud? My artillery is so powerful that it causes fps drop when the smoke appears and can even cause friendly fire which is bad for me since I'm doing the old guns quest.

Once you have a follower with "Create Follower" mod, there was another mod that allowed you to ad robot and synth body parts, mix and match style.
You could craft the parts at an armor station. One of the Robots was smooth white plastic with digitigrade feet. You could use assaultron parts, synth body parts, and it had some rather advanced looking non lore parts as well...

Hello vault dwellers i am currently trying to get vortex to run for my fallout on xbox pc version but for some reason it doesn’t work ive done it before but deleted it can anyone give me suggestions on why it does this ?

Does anyone know of any Xbox mods that can improve framerate in downtown boston?? I have Faraway area reform, Nytras Performance mode and Boston FPS Fix vd already but still get stutters and occasional freezes
So I feel I ran into a weird problem? Last night I did everything I could to stop the update (swapped to update on launch, read only the manifest,etc) thought I would be fine since I was going to launch through mo2 and never touch the fo4 launcher ever again. However today, I realized the mods I was planning on downloading need the goty version which I bought just when the update went live. So now I would have to update and launch the game if I want to install the DLC.
If I had made a backup before the update, can I restore that but keep the dlc stuff?? Or will it just Bork everything and I'm basically SOL

when i would look at my "library" on the mod page it would always show how many mods i had installed, for example, before the update i was at 146/150

i stand corrected. it hasn't deleted the favorites, but it isn't showing very many. same with the library list. They're still all there on bethesda.net. I'm downloading oddlittleturtle's mod manager to see if i can extend the list

Anyone getting an "operation could not be completed" message and then immediately kicked from the mods section back to main menu after trying to download certain mods? Eg the mercenary pack?

Many of my mods got that notice but I was able to get past it by spamming the download button. But mercenary pack refuses to be downloaded

The Beth.Net servers are tied to both versions regardless, so your only option is Nexus for right now if you want to use the previous version

Check Beth.net website, your mod library and favorited mods should still show up there. I imagine everything will get resolved in the next couple hours and the mods will sync back up

it might not show up in your "owned" section, but if you look up those individual CC items they should dispaly as owned

I didn’t expect it to continue to work after the update. The bug report of things fixed seems like they fixed that memory leak. Which was the only way it was able to work
I’ll give it a week or two and then remove it permanently. I don’t want to break load orders by removing prematurely

Basically: Quality is the one that pushes limits to give you pretty pictures. Performance mode is the one that runs the game. Just like on PC.

I think the current situation is anything that depends on F4SE, and F4SE itself is busted due to the compiler change which will take longer, maybe also anything that modifies interface files.

60 frames is “performance” and 4K. I did however misread the ultra settings. That is on quality mode
i'm only running around sanctuary at the moment. with performance it seems to run smooth. with it off i've gotten a few stutters

The mod archive format has changed, so you might crash as a result of that partial rollback

Just so everyone knows yr servers aren't up yet it just got updated with new menu they have computers hosting servers everywhere so millions of ppl and thousands apon thousands of mods each server takes several minutes to turn on one at a time so just be patient

If you have a negative number or it says “could not be completed” it’s because Bethesda is trying to fix the issues. Most of my mods are gone at the moment.

I only played PS once, and that was for star wars battlefront 2, besides that, I've always preferred Xbox, they less strict with stuff and care about their gamers more.
Given how many new players there are because of the show and now this update, I imagine that there's gonna be a lot of lag on the servers.

I did start a new game and it looks great.
I had no mods listed when I booted up and then had weirdness happen when attempting to redownload. Let things settle before downloading anything. The servers are being weird with everyone attempting to download. If you get operation not completed the Xbox might think you have mods installed already.
Might need to wipe reserve and reinstall. Waiting for things to settle before attempting again.

2gb gives me enough room for faction overhauls and weapons but no space for settlement stuff and extra quest mods

Honestly yeah, these mods are practically DLC sized, why have a buggy shotgun that replaces basically every weapon in the game when you could have almost an entire DLC

The creation club stuff counts towards the 2gb limit so if like me you were using all of your GB space the update adding that CC content will break the limit

Selected from the CC menu download all (got an error), then insisted a bit and got them installed. Then went to mods, and tried to install some of them and saw the free space and total space messed up

Previously UFO4P was the only mod I had installed.

Also, please tell them that when you download 1 by 1 fhe CC content, after 2 or 3 items, they will get stuck at downloading...0%. Been like in the picture for 4 mins. First 3 CC content was ok, and fast downloading

Has there been any news about Fallout 4 VR getting any updates to match pancake? A lot of fallout mods have been becoming incompatible because the game code is drifting further apart with each update. Concerned this newest one will do the same.

@dense warren I had to manually install each CC item after they failed. Unfortunately I'm seeing red Exclamation Errors for the Makeshift weapons though. Likely Mesh errors.
I'm pretty much looking at jus looking up all my mods manually trying to put together a load order of ones that still work (fingers crossed) and pray that the developers sort out the issues later
Try launching a vanilla game. You won't be able to do anything to fix anything that needs updating until all mods get updated. F4SE is not updated and neither are any of the community mod tools. The archive headers changed so no third party tools can be used to access mods until all tools are updated.
The servers just went back online 4 or 5 hours ago so it's not enough time for things to be updated on the mod end.
Mod authors have regular jobs and lives so it will take a bit.
But really sucks is because I was getting ready to watch the fallout series I decided to start modding fallout 4 again but then this update popped up

Thats why im asking which files are the vanilla ones so i can manually delete the other ones. Im just trying to launch on steam, but files leftover from vortex, and mod organizer are still in thee game files. Which i assume is what is causing the issue

Not sure how Vortex works, but if you have your stuff backed up with MO2, you might be able to temporarily disable it. In the past I had used the portable version so it was easy to uninstall and reinstall if there were issues.
Ill probably have to try that, there's gotta be something between the programs causing the issue. Maybe ill just uninstall them both

I recently switched Steam to a different drive so I got a Windows permissions thing with the update.
That moment when you can't install your mods and the update wiped your old mods off the system so you can't play your saved game anymore

The leveled list injection makes it way too common, and it's done directly and not with a script so it literally makes it harder for even modded weapons to show up

Have you downloaded mods before? Was your load order already full? Mine was but didn't appear in the UI. When I attempted to redownload it presented me with weirdness and wouldn't let me download any more. Is that the behavior you have?

@velvet wasp lots of people have a bunch of good mods. Some even made their own and now they cant access either. With this also being really hyped for both old and new players influenced by the show its really frustrating for some. I’m not going to lie and say i wasnt mad. Seeing my,by far best charecter being not what it was is uppsetting. But hey give it alittle time. Servers are backed up. The support chats all but ruined in some parts and people throwing a million questions will do that. I do hope all of this settles soon but i want to thank the moderators for trying their best. I know myself how it is to be a middleman.
Tickets are processed in the order they are received. There is a large volume of tickets, the team is processing them as efficiently as they can.
