Okay I'm tracking down my performance issues and it seems directly tied with shadows and rendering in downtown boston, just looking down from a vertibird tanks my framerate hard.
The irony is that I can fill a whole one foundation sized room CHEST HIGH IN MODIFIED BOWLING BALLS and maintain capped fps while wading through them.

I remember fallout 76 had lighting issues at launch, I'm really hoping at some point the creation engine gets revamped lighting and shadows with at least some optimization

Hi guys, am new here, a PS4 player, encounter the famous "operation can't complete" problem, have been searching many place for a cure, but no luck.

  2. no mod download ever due to "1."
  3. try all the method suggested by the Bethesda support - restart game, delete game, hard reboot PS, Change IP setting
  4. have buy all DLC
  5. all save deleted from my PS

When certain things explode (i.e. vertibirds, or oil canisters surrounded by oil on the ground) it causes an infinite chain reaction and it makes that area impossible to play in. Trying to beat Fallout 4 with a double barrel or, better yet, a 10mm pistol or pipe pistol, is frustrated asf.

A 10mm Pistol is one of the most solid and reliable weapons in the game, not to mention easy to keep fed, especially on Survival. I actually thought that's what Bilbo was referring to. "Can you beat FALLOUT 4 with only A STARTER PISTOL??" makes no mention of Gunslinger being amazing, 10mm ammo being cheap and bountiful, playing on normal, and the fact you can mod it to have semi-auto damage but fire so fast it may as well be automatic.

I agree, but the crux of those videos often isn't is this a truly end game viable weapon, its Can You Beat. Kind of like the lame Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas with [X Weird Weapon] always being yes, because Speech and Yes Man.

Gunslinger is also the second lowest level total (I think?) combat perk out of them all, followed by I want to say Rifleman. Something like rank 4 is mid 20s.

What bothers me is the concept of "beating" a Bethesda game. To me, Bethesda's games are not games that are designed to be "beaten" like first-person shooters. To me they're games we get lost in, immersed in, that we live in. I just do not understand people who who talk about "beating" a Bethesda game. It's completely foreign to the way I roleplay.

Having an issue accessing the RobCo Sales & Service Center (Mechanist lair) part of the Automatron DLC. Crashes everytime I attempt to load into it. I have disabled & delete the Scrap Everything Mod (I read that it can cause bugs throughout the game) but it still wont let me access it. I am on xBox if that helps.

That's why I'm careful with modded gameplay, cause it can mess up the core game and reintroduce bugs that Bethesda has since fixed (such as the unopenable door in Fort Hagen, making the game unbeatable).

Fallout 4 isn't really something Bethesda is going to continue focusing on. They'll stick with Skyrim and 76 while they continue to be cash cows for them.

As someone who has been in the military I would say no. The more protection the armor has the heavier the weight which can be a huge detriment on the battlefield. Standard combat armor would be used for base guards, snipers and infiltrators, these are people that need to maintain maximum mobility especially infiltrators. Mid range combat armor would be for infantry while they need extra protection they need decent mobility to get under cover quickly in case they come under heavy fire. Heavy combat armor would be for the shock troopers aka the cleanup crew they are the ones that go in to take out pockets of heavy resistance very rarely would they ever be sent first as they would get massacred due to the lack of mobility. Besides the Institute is full of scientists it's not inconceivable they would develop a material that would better protect their synths which are machines and can take the heavier weight with little problem.

I'm just going to condense my reply.
Bulletproof riot shields are made out of a polycarbonate material which is a type of plastic. A quarter inch thick shield can stand up to a handgun or shotgun.

Which should not be confused with the ones that swat uses. Which are ballistic shields those are made of kevlar which is made from polyethylene which is also a type of plastic which is also used to make ballistic vests.

Then there is UHMWPE which is used to make plastic armor for vehicles and is able to stop armor piercing bullets. It's used on military vehicles to lighten there weight since 2 inches of UHMWPE has the same armor piercing protection as 4 inches of steel.

There is even a type of plastic that is used as the shielding for the space shuttle can't remember what it's called but that stuff survives atmospheric re-entry temperatures that would burn up steel.

That is subjective I personally like all of them. The only thing I can recommend is try the ones your most interested in. Also the the FO4 GOTY would be cheaper as it'll give you all of them whereas buying them individually would cost more in the long run.

I found the bug! It's related to whether or not the actual lighting pattern for the settlement object is loaded into memory. DLCs are region locked, you might wanna check the back of the disk to see what Region it is
If you're in America, disk you should be using is Reg 1
Europe is Reg 2
And Asia is Reg 3
Had the same problem like that where it won't install and takes me to the PS store, but it's because I had the Reg 2 instead of the correct one for me which is Reg 3
But be sure that it's just your disk being the wrong region before you go and buy a new disk

I guess I should elaborate - for some reason, I can't help but feel unsatisfied with a character I recently created in Fallout 4, largely over doubts regarding her name & her looks. In a sense, I feel regret or dissatisfaction and it leads to pondering & obsessing over these things and taking the fun out of the game.

And even when logic is applied, it doesn't help much - like, for example, her name: Olivia Smith. I have a hard time creating names for characters in any game I play that gives me that option, so when I came up with her name, I actually used some outside resources to help. According to the SSA & at least a few other sites, Olivia was either the #1 or #2 most popular name for girls in 2020-2021, hence why I chose it. As for the last name "Smith", I did a bit of Google searching and found out that it was the most prevalent last name in the US during 2021, w/ over 2 1/2 millions "Smiths" in the US. Put the two together, and you get what should be a pretty solid name - Olivia Smith... but nowadays, I regret it because I wish I was more original, and I don't want to have to restart the character because its a B and a 1/2 to deal with the character creation at the start of the game

Like, I kind of like the last name "Castle", because it sounds strong and it's unique

And considering she'd roll with the BOS, it'd be fitting

Now as for looks... believe it or not, but I believe I thought I had found the perfect combination of facial features that'd create the most attractive looking, fair-skinned woman imaginable - Wide 2 eyes, Prominent 2 nose, Full Pout 2 lips, Average 2 ears and Thin-arched eyebrows

I don't think I'm in time, but if you don't want to restart your character you can use the console command "showspecialmenu" without quotes to change your player's name in Fallout 4. Keep in mind that if you invested any perk points into your SPECIAL stats, you'll have to take them away (you can fix this after you've changed your name by using the console cheat "setav [specialstat] [value]"). If you're unhappy with how your character looks but don't want to create a surgery chair, use the console command "showlooksmenu 14" and you'll be presented with the looks menu.
In Skyrim use the cheat "showracemenu" to change both your race (and how you look) and your name.

Open the cheat menu, click on Curie (to where you can see the numbers in the mid of screen), and then type into the cheat bar "slm [number in mid of screen]" without quotes

I think you can send any robot you build on supply lines. The difference would be if you happen to be in the area, do you want a settler walking around and fighting whatever it encounters, or a robot? There is or was also a bug that means robots sent on supply lines might lose all their upgrades. The settlements are still linked but your ultra kill bot may revert to being a basic protectron.

Ok so I´ve tried everything here I belive. And I´m asking for help. I´m having trouble with Fallout 4 not beeing able to save. Since there are no ini files in my games, in documments. I´ve tried, reinstalling steam, re-veryfing file intergrity in order to get game to create ini files, going to data library or whatever its called when going into downloads, settings steam. I´ve also tried going into the firewall and allowing access and it works to put it onto the list. The problem started when I deleted My Games folder entirely, everything in it. Since I had a problem with cloud not able to locate the ini file, so i could not play my previous save. I´ve also tried disabling cloud save

Also, every time I start up fallout 4 on steam, and for example download mods through bethesda mods page, It can be installed, but they get removed once i close the game

Hey so I recently got this amazing mod on the Bethesda in-game mod store called More Bang for your Bark, but it has it seems one minor bug (easy workaround) and so with the recent getting rid of the Bethesda forums this also includes commenting on mods, so I was wondering if anyone here knows KungFuMan and how to contact him (or better have him contact me) or if someone else maybe has the issue, it seems that while the Transdogrifier is equipped, you cannot "Talk" to Dogmeat. You have to unequip it to do the "Talk" sumbmenu commands, then re-equip it when you are done.

EDIT: Okay, weird but it seems to have suddenly fixed itself. Not sure what happened. Though could have been as I had more than one Transdogrifer Mk II in my inventory, only one was in Dogmeat's?

Yea, that happens sometimes, not 100% sure what causes it, your best bet is to use a mod manager and make sure they are equipped there. Even if you don't install a mod with a mod manager, it should still show in the "plugins" list. Then I recommend using the LOOT program to sort your mods load order. This in theory should force it to create the proper .ini files. That, or hopefully someone more knowledgeable can help you further, as I can't say I've ever done what you did.... valarrCRY

A 10mm pistol with Survival's damage changes and especially when you start getting the Adrenaline ratcheted up can be a tried and true versatile sidearm through the overwhelming majority of the game, and 10mm rounds are pretty light if I remember right.

To say nothing of the fact a .44 Magnum with an advanced receiver hits like a sniper rifle and then some, and can go about as far with Gunslinger.

I wish fallout 4 had “stopsoud“ command for our problems with sound like in Garrys mod “ stopsound” *reloads the audio *Which fixes a looping audio. Means if you have looping combat music this will be a good solution or any other looping stuff

I bought Fallout 4 for my Series X today. The bombs dropped. I’ve played 35 minutes in total and found it to be a surreal 10 out of 10! Good story and cut scenes. And the go touch things gameplay mechanic really sucked me into my husband role. Nicely done immersive technique.

I would very much like to boost my Agility to 11 because I want it and my Perception skill to match up - in almost every play through, Perception always becomes my highest stat thanks to the Perception bobblehead and the VANS perk.

If I can get my Agility stat to 11 using the book, I could then collect its bobblehead and train on a pommel horse to get it to 13, to match my Perception stat of 13

I've read a few different sources regarding chem addictions, with Med-X addiction hindering Agility - unfortunately, it doesn't work now. I then read that getting over encumbered would do it, but no luck there either.

I usually don't play on Survival - when you get the rhythm of it down, it becomes less fun in any of Bethesda's games. That's why I usually just play on their hardest difficulty

Agility reduction from Power Armor was only a thing in F3 and FNV.

And it was a stupid thing to have because when you receive your power armor training in those same games they talk about relaxing and letting the suit do the movement for you which certainly doesn't sound like it being hard to move around in to me.

I often end up using a pipe pistol/Rifle in .38 in the late game. It gets tiring to run out of ammo for everything else. Luckily I usually carry a Minigun Shredder ASAP for use in a pinch.

@short plume there's a red line of bricks and paint on the ground. That's the trail. It leads to the Old North Church. It's not a straight line, it twists and turns to get to a lot of historical places.

Hello everyone, I hope you are well! I have a question about my Fallout 4 and it's that when I play it in the vanilla version with ultra graphics, the textures look very blurry, which makes it a bit annoying to the eye. I tried to solve it by downloading the textures DLC and its helped a bit but the textures still look blurry, so I thought if I add some ENB and textural mods it would help, but it turns out that even with that it still looks a bit blurry, even the letters of dialogue looks like it has bad quality and I have the game in ULTRA, does anyone know what could happen?

Ive googled a lot and found some fixes but they wont work for me. I tried changing the prefs in docs and in the main game folder adding my resolution and changing the bFullscreen from 0 to 1 but still nothing happens...

Here is the fix I was able to come up with on 3/4/22.
bMaximizeWindow=1
bBorderless=1

Then I went to my PC dashboard and right clicked, then went to Display settings, scale and layout should be set to 100%. Just below that it tells you the display resolution of your monitor, example, mine was 2560x1080.
Once you find those numbers go back to the Fallout4Prefs file and enter
iSize H= 1080
iSize W=2560
then save and that is what worked for me. Hope this helps!
