I get that I referred to type of thinking or phenomenon, where people think of New Vegas a truly free game because of other Fallouts. In terms of possibility, it is and the player always fight or think outside the box to deal with the alternatives paths. But New Vegas does want you listen to it’s story and it’s character with pacing.

In that case, New Vegas is actually more open world than San Andreas considering anyone can get the open world experience without progressing the story at all.

You can’t release an update without "breaking" mods, because it’s always an update to the executable. But like they did with Skyrim before BGS is most likely going to provide the script extender devs with the early version of the patch, so they could prepare the update F4SE and release it in the same day

Dark Souls is still alive because of modding, nobody play the base game anymore, actually, if people knows a game has mods, they instant refuse to play base game and play with mods instead, Witcher 3, Gta, Kingdom Come, Street Fighter, etc

There will be always somebody is playing the game, like people still playing super mario bros nes in 2023, I am in a discord server where people play ninja gaiden black in 2023, and those game has no mods.
This is problem with this generation, not about mod or not mod

Speaking of Gta, gta v has frequently update almost every week and it does break mods and requires to update mod hooker, sometime the author late update 3 days or even a week later, but nobody there yelling anything about gta 5 updates
Means while bethesda games getting opposite reactions when devs publishing an update to fix their games. If they update something, there will be people who want devs to stop updating because it break their mods or something. If they listen to those customers and dont update or fix anything, there will be people who say devs cant fix a simple bug, it all depend to modders or similar

I would say that GTA doesn't have the kind of mods that people get angry about breaking, but I know it does. I can't say what these mods are as they are not PG-13.

Just to add my two cents, I haven’t beaten Far Harbor because the dialogue is constantly overlapping with eachother and it seems to be unfixable. Really it depends on if your game is living based on mods, like if it is gmod. For Fallout 4, it should be base game over mods.

peace and war mods do that however i would advise against using any other replacer as they love to mess with mods like see thru scopes and tactical reload

war specifically for what you want however they are more of a packaged deal from what ive heard

Hi, I have had some serious issues with my game, I have looked around the internet so I am coming here to ask. I play Fallout 4 from the Xbox app. Whenever I load into the game everything works completely fine. But when I try to continue where I left off, the loading screen just does not end up ever loading. I wait 1 hour and it doesnt load. One of the reasons this may not work is because I had to remove a couple of files for the game to load. I got the alert, "file not found" This file said launcher file not found. I ended up removing it and the game worked for a period of time for about 3 days. I have seached where i could and I couldnt find anything, if anyone has a fix. I have tried the basic things such as cleaning my graphics card and whatnot, if anyone ever had this problem please tell me how you fixed it. Thank you!

If I download the Game Pass version from the Xbox App it works fine. So does my Steam version. You may want to make sure the game installed correctly. If you are using mods make sure you have them installed correctly with their dependencies as well.

Good Morning guys, how are you doing? Yesterday I decided to dedicate myself to the side quest “Malevolent Malfunction”, activated by the Creation Club content “Sentinel Control System Companion”. I was following the Radio Distress Signal on my Pip–Boy, I reached the battle site whence the signal comes from, thus I defeated the two Rogue Sentinel Power Armor Units, so I inspected the area and, to my despair, besides the remains of the two I.A.–controlled Power Armor Units and the Outcast Distress Pulser, I did not find the corpses of Knight Maria Harper and Scribe Gael Vasquez; unfortunately this problem prevents me from progressing with the quest and eventually from completing it. I have already searched the area’s surroundings (and I have to thank Dogmeat, lovely boy, for his valid help), however I did not manage to find the two corpses, they seem to have merely disappeared from the game. I have also tried to reload a previous manual save file, and there I was far away from the map’s square sector in which you find that area, and the result was the same. At the moment I have no third–party Mods installed, I only own this Creation Club content and a few others I had claimed when they were obtainable for free. Do you think it would be better to start from an older manual save file, to ignore, provisionally, this side quest, then completing other quests and activities, hoping that the game will reset the area’s contents, and come back there later in the run? And if I had to, would it be dangerous for my save files deleting all my Creation Club contents, since I have already completed the side quests related to some of them? VERY yes with the first vanilla quest, "Out of Time." Every CC quest checks Out of Time to see if you're out of the vault yet. Best to move all the CC stuff to another folder and out of your data folder until you finish that quest (when you first see Preston Garvey). Then you can save, exit, and return all the CC stuff to the Data folder any time you want after that.

Okay so theres this really wierd thing that is happening to me in Fallout: New Vegas. Where some doors i go into lead to an infinite loading screen, the only way to get out of it is to shut down my whole computer since the game doesnt let me navigate to the desktop

Its super annoying and I cant even play the game cause its happening so often, I really dont know what to do. Its not a crash issue, I even recently installed an anti crash mod. It just loads forever and nothing happens, so I have to shut down my computer with the button because the screen is stuck on New Vegas

By 0kb bug, I assume you are on PS? If so then you must start new game for the removing mods problem, otherwise theres no way to work around with that because mod scripts were saved into game saves, perhaps you can load a very old save before you install that mod, or just continue playing with the mod until you finish the story and start a new save?

Never, they have been done with supporting the game with patches for years.

Try installing a newly developed d3d9.dll developed by the DXVK people and available on github for download. Save your old d3d9.dll by renaming it to something like d3d9OLD.dll in case the new one doesn't work for you. You then can go back to using the old one by removing the change. The revised .dll worked much better for me, but not 100%. Use Google for details on how to install the new d3d9.dll.

To answer this question, I’d have to give you spoilers. I’ll try to be as vague as possible. The Institute is the main faction of the whole game. You either side with them, or you don’t. That’s all the info I can give without spoiling too much. However, in my opinion, siding with The Institute is the more evil option.

Gotcha. Thank you, i had to close the game after meeting Father to process all that just happened (i'm LOVING the story so far). Reloaded the game after like an hour, quick saved, put a bullet in his head and reloaded the quick save to side with the institute, so now i'm just trying to thin out my quest log before i keep progressing with the main quest line, but hey it's a Bethesda game, so the main quest line is something I do when i'm out of stuff to do on the side quest side of things.

If you’re going for a “good guy” character, avoid the BoS and Institute. However, you can be “neutral” with the brotherhood by doing the main quest line with the Minutemen. I don’t know your play-style so I can’t really see what you’re doing. But yeah.

Yeah you don’t wanna do that. Juggling is a good way to burn yourself out especially when you’re new to the game. You should read terminals, listen to holotapes and have conversations with the faction related companions to truly get a feel with what faction aligns with your real life personal beliefs. Once you get that, you can then choose the faction you want to align yourself and the Minutemen with. (The Minutemen will always ally with one of the 3 factions)

You might also want to get more into settlement building. It seems like a hassle at first but honestly, building an immersive settlement and finishing the project is an insanely good feeling. For example, my Castle has a ton of stuff related to the Minutemen and every room and object has a “reason” and a story. Kinda turned it into Boston’s version of The Pentagon.

That’s- not always how roleplay works. Roleplay works both ways. You can have the character follow your own belief or their perspective. In both areas it works. Either way, it’s pretty common for players to play the game using their beliefs. There’s a popular video on YouTube about this titled something like “Why You Never Play The “Bad Guy” in RPGS” or something like that. You really have no way of playing the game truly from your characters perspective. This is why you have choices with dialogue. You’re interpreting their emotions and perspective using your emotions and perspective. You inherently cannot truly know how the character’s personality is, without a book about that character. And even then, some books in the world allow you to read dialogue in the books with your own tones that fit. It’s why so many books are always up for interpretation.

The only way for an RPG to truly be from the character’s perspective, is if you didn’t have a choice with dialogue. That’s fact. Because at that point, the character’s decisions and perspective is forced into the player. Which a ton of people don’t like. Which was also the reason why some players didn’t like having a voiced protagonist. I’m not saying you shouldn’t try to play in your character’s perspective. Because you inherently do most of the time. The way that I play a Bethesda game is when the game starts and finishes the prologue, I think to myself “Okay, this problem or event just happened. If I were this character, what would I do?” This is because Bethesda does give you a choice, and allows you to run around as if the character is you. They give you just enough information about your character’s background to get a feel for it. And then you can build off of it using your own beliefs.

I can truly play from the characters perspective...I never play as me, or as what would I do... It's what the character would do based on their backstory and various other reasons. The choices are always what that type character would choose.
And that's just some youtubers opinion.
And there is almost no dialogue choice in FO4, it's 4 ways of saying the same thing that ends in the same outcome no matter your dialogue "choice"

As far as I can recall it's not a quest item. You can purchase it from Allen Lee in Far Harbor. It's just a varient of a harpoon gun.

After now looking it up. There are 2 other varients from Far Harbor quests though.

Defender's Harpoon Gun - unique variant with the Penetrating Legendary effect. Reward for completing Hull Breach 3.
Skipper's Last Stand - unique variant with the Resilient Legendary effect. Reward for completing the quest Shipbreaker.

You can change your monitor refresh rate in Display Settings on your PC.
You can configure and fix the fps to 60 in your Nvidea 3D Display settings either Global or just for an individual program ie, Fallout 4.
Should be no need for a mod.
If you also have a gsync monitor make sure its on and you are using this feature, again in the Nvidea graphics settings.

If PC is getting anything from the update, I hope it's RTX card support.

I find it very funny that my PC can handle downtown Boston no sweat, but heven forbid there be any god rays.

Weapon debris stays off when turned off in the advanced settings but god rays when turned off will revert to low as a default on every new boot up. You need to disable the god rays permanently in the ini file.

if you dont mind using mods, i like using a mod called Uncapped Settlement Surplus, available for both PC and Xbox

basically allows your farms, stores, and water purifers produce unlimited resources as long as they have someone assigned to them/theyre powered

and then with that plant a bunch of corn, tato and mutfruit, then in a couple days you can turn it into adhesive

Get Abernathy Farm producing corn, mutfruit, tatos and water and make vegetable starch for adhesive, that's what I do. Can also make a ton of caps with them, producing jet from cow poop and plastic. Next to their farm is a spot where a family of radstags spawn, for leather. Also, Connie Abernathy, Lucas the traveling caravan merchant and the Fallon's clothing shop in Diamond City sell leather shipments.

As far as gameplay goes, it means nothing. It's just a line of dialogue. Game will be over before anything meaningful would happen. However, I choose weapon development myself. They seem to have enough synths.

Similar thing happens in Witcher 3 when you can choose to repair a wall at Kaer Morhen (reduce hostiles in a part of the battle) or access an armoury to get a unique weapon

My memories of trying survival: Keep some empty bottles in inventory, so that you can fill them with purified water at settlement pumps. Beyond that, go survival until the lack of fast travel wastes too much of your real-world time.

It's a legendary effect, you need to get lucky to have a full set unless you have a mod for changing effects yourself.

But anyone know how to fix this? I started Fire Support by going to the Boston Airport and talking to the Knight standing outside. She said “Go see Danse at Cambridge Police Station.” So I did so, and attacked the ghouls and killed them, tried talking to him, and he just says “Check your fire, we’ve got hostiles!” over and over. I tried going around the area, killing any ghouls, and then going into College Square Station and killing those ghouls, but that didn’t work

I want to go with the Institute for this playthrough, but I need Liberty Prime to be able to get into the Institute. Does that mean I need to join the Brotherhood to be able to hack/reprogram Liberty Prime?

It's a known bug, apparently one ghoul can spawn under the map.

Try this from the fire support wiki.

After triggering the 'check fire' bug if one continues the main story quests to The Molecular Level, Virgil give an optional quest objective to talk to the Brotherhood and one will get a map marker to speak to Danse at which point one will have speech options. One needs to tell Danse they are there for help, then say no to his offer to join up, which kicks you out of dialogue, but gives the chance to talk to him again which then has the post 'Fire Support' fight dialogue options, accept there and 'Fire Support' should complete and leave one free to carry on with the Brotherhood storyline.

You would be continuing the Main Story with whichever faction you want up to Molecular Level, just so as you can get that option to complete that part with Danse.
You're not tasked with doing any further Brotherhood quests at all.

You say you want to do a institute play through?
You can't hack liberty prime to gain access to the institute anyway.
You need to continue the story with either the Minutemen or Railroad to build the Transporter.
Once in the institute you just accept Father's offer to join him.

Final Judgment weapon can be looted off of Mason's body after killing him during either of the quests Airship Down, or Rockets' Red Glare.

Airship down is the institute quest where you hack Prime to help take down the BOS but is not the prerequisite to obtain the weapon. You just loot it from Mason's corpse.

Red Rocket's Glare is the Railroad quest to take down the BOS and you can still loot Mason's corpse for the weapon.

As I said you don't hack Prime to access the Institute, that's done in Molecular level with either the Minutemen or Railroad.
Hacking Prime in Airship Down comes much later in the Institute quest line.
