The Dark Brotherhood door in the remaster has some issues. It has 7 children on it when there should only be 5, the door doesn't glow, the cave is quite bright, and the sound has been removed. In the original it was a very dark space, a glowing red door, ominous music, and the mural was correct on the door, having the 5 children of the Night Mother that she murdered.

My suggestions are mainly QoL related to the UI:

Add the option to not show again the warning about not meeting the minimum requirements;
Add search on the inventory and magic sections;
Add a separate section for scrolls in magic;
Add the option to delete custom spells:
Better defaults in the UI: start in the "all" section;
Ability to sort for enchanted items
A way to quickly toggle from general map to interior map

You can see how many are inspired directly from Skyrim...

  • A survival mode similar to FO4 with hunger/thirst/sleep and proper damage scaling so that fights are quick but tense (increase both incoming and outgoing damage for the realistic approach).

  • Mod support, the longevity of Bethesda games is because of the robust modding community which historically has been supported by Bethesda.

I'd really really like something like a sort button, or something to ease the inventory management, the quick radial menu is a godsend to me, its awesome...but we also need more slots, or even a feature where we double tap the x button on gamepad and auto equip a torch, and why is it that a torch burns out, and doesnt select another torch? Why should we have to do that manually? needs QOL, i dont feel like a 80 dollar game should be lacking much, especially if it's a remaster

Please adjust the difficulty settings, the jump between Adept and Expert is too wide. Either scale down Expert slightly or introduce an in-between difficulty

Having issue in a quest from the Brotherhood. Permanent Retirement. Guys i need help. For me Adamus Phillida is not even spawning. I tried everything. Waited for weeks. Also waited around 3-4pm. He doesnt even come out of his barracks. Also when i go inside the barrack. The green map marker shows but there is nothing there? I tried reloading game and everything but nothing is working to spawn him.

-I think it'd be cool if leveling had the "legendary skills" system from Skyrim, where if a skill reaches 100, you can reset it back to start to level it up again.
-In addition to that, I think being able to level up your attributes past 100 would be nice. I say this because I think it's BS that even with max 100 Intelligence you still don't have enough magicka to cast some of the top spells from the arcane university (I guess you can enchant gear to increase it, but I still think there should be a way to get more magicka than gear and spells, but maybe that's just me)
-I think it'd be great to add more than one enchantment on a piece of apparel (I know you can add more on weapons). Maybe you can use multiple soul gems at once, adding more enchantments per stone (and maybe you can do the same with weapons, perhaps increasing potency and charge?)
-Make it so leveled gear and weapons (especially quest rewards like Chillrend, for example) level up with your character. I shouldn't have to wait until level 25 to get the best version of that sword when I complete The Killing Field! That way if I do get it, it does start off weaker, but it levels up with me, so that I can get the best version of it as I progress through the game!
-And of course, FIX THE PERFORMANCE PLEASE!!!

Things I would like to see:

  1. Multiple hair color sliders for Khajiit to adjust their mane and facial hair independently. Think orange base fur, white beard for a tiger look. Right now you can only do orange fur with a linked orange beard/mane color.

  2. Bug(?) fix on PC with Xbox controller: When you open a container and hit RS to move stuff from your inventory to the container, you have to double click RS because the first one opens the details menu.

  3. Fix: Show carry weight on the open container/"take all" screen. I want to know how much room I have left before I hit that button.

  4. Add a gold per weight inventory sort category. It makes efficiently looting dungeons so much easier. Warhammers sell for a lot but are really heavy, so it might be better to leave it behind and take 5 daggers instead. This has been in the Skyrim "SkyUI" mod for forever.

  5. A keyring. Put the keyring in the Misc section of the inventory, then when you click the keyring it'll open a submenu to show all the keys you've picked up. My Misc inventory is a mess with like 30+ keys right now, and I'm only level 10. I believe this was a feature in Fallout 3, Skyrim, and other games.

  6. Subsections in the inventory, like the OG Oblivion. Under alchemy the instruments should be at the top. Then there should be a section for your potions, then under that would be your ingredients. Group everything together so it's easy to find what you're looking for. Same with the other categories. But Alchemy instruments and in Misc. the repair hammers should always be right at the top because you use them so much and it's a pain to scroll and find them.

  7. Map icons on the various wayshrines of the divines, and standing stones. Right now they're unmarked.

  8. QOL for soul gems, something like "Smart Souls" or "GIST intelligent soul trap" mods for Skyrim. Being able to combine multiple petty gems to make 1 bigger gem, and 'bumping' mismatched soul sizes out of bigger gems when you trap a new one.

PS5 menu looking at the details of items or anything in menu. When you use the right stick to look at item, recharge, or skill of said item. No matter what, it likes to keep bouncing between options. So I can not even touch the stick and it just jumps all over. I hope that can be fixed. Also more texts/ descriptions of things be great. Oh it be amazing, if you could make an official Oblivion Remaster guide book. That way if you did not implement every description in game. I can at least look in the guide like the good old days.

I’ve got quite an annoying bug which I hear goes back to the original game.
Gukimir from knights of the nine is my follower. He can’t be killed, he can’t be told to wait. He follows endlessly, alerting guards, dressed in his tighty whiteys because his armour got destroyed. I can’t recruit other followers and he continuously snitches on me to guards. Please fix this Bethesda. I love this game, but I’d literally lose 20hours if I revert to a previous save! Thanks.
This is on PS5 to clarify.

#

I’m sure many other have said this already but I would love to see Kvatch rebuilt. Starting in the post game you could recieve a letter from a relative/heir of the old count of Kvatch who is now planning to rebuild the city. Because of your service stopping the invasion the new regent names you a Knight/Knight Commander.

You can have quests relating to raising funds for the reconstruction, quelling threats nearby, recovering stolen artifacts from the city, finding experts for the reconstruction, etc. Make it take time. Maybe you need to wait several weeks between quest tiers. Maybe you can choose what shops to have in the city, styles of buildings, farmers crops, types of horse, etc.

The payoff could include a Kvatch Knight themed armor set and weapons, a free player home, weekly income from the city, etc.

This could add unique dungeons, unique npcs, unique weapons and armor sets

  • optimize the game, it truly and genuinely runs extremely poorly (see the Digital Foundry video).
  • add UI scale sliders, the compass is huge
  • optimize the game
  • allow us to turn off the “notifications” in the top left. I know I’m over encumbered because my character is slow. I don’t need an alert every 1.5s.
  • optimize the game
  • add spell descriptions outside of the Help menu, it’s buried and hard to find.
  • optimize the game
  • RTX support instead of Lumin (will help with perf and lighting quality)
  • optimize the game
  • modding support
  • optimize the game
  • show if a dungeon has been cleared
  • optimize the game

Very ambitious stretch goal: incorporate the Open Cities mod.

Aside from that I don’t have many ideas. I loved Oblivion so much growing up that this remaster — if it was optimized — is nearly perfect to my 14yo mind.

Edit - ooh suggestions from others that I would like:

  • If we are indoors, open the map to the indoor map so we don’t have to zoom every single time.
  • make the Unofficial Oblivion Patch official.

  1. Greatly reduce the contribution minor skills give towards leveling up, at current rate they cause leveling to be too fast.

  2. Have leveled items scale alongside the player's level even after being obtained rather than remaining stagnant.

  3. Allow the ability to toggle extra compass info like distance and the names of locations on/off.

Bugs:

  1. Invisibility lingers after the effect goes away, sometimes only some pieces of armor or just weapons, or even just your player model.
  2. When conjuring a full set of bound armor in an outfit/robe/armor set that covers more than one part of the body the set visually is bugged and is missing pieces and clipping
  3. After the mage’s guild quest line you can retrieve the bloodworm helmet from the Arch-Mage’s chest, but not the necromancer amulet. Not sure if this is intended as the necromancer amulet is quite strong, but I was upset that the fortify magicka 130 wasn’t available unless you didn’t complete the quest.
  4. When meeting Vicente in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary for the first time he’ll be bald. It fixes itself on re-entry but it was jarring at first.
    Suggestions:
  5. More slots for the radial wheel or a Skyrim style favorite menu. It’s tedious to scroll through my sort of important spells/gear in my menu because the most important ones take up all the slots. Or simply the ability to hide items and/or spells in the menu.
  6. DIFFICULTY SCALING IS RIDICULOUS! On Adept Im able to steamroll every enemy and boss with zero pushback or need for items/spells, and on expert every enemy is an endgame boss. Additionally, and this also may be because of the longer fights, but I’ve rarely seen NPCs use potions and buff spells in combat on adept. A Starfield style difficulty slider, or a general rebalance of the difficulties is needed so badly. I genuinely do not want to play anymore of the game until the difficulty is addressed.
  7. Fast travel from inside the DLC player homes, as it can be done through the base game ones.

I think adding analog movement would be a really nice upgrade from the 3 fixed speeds we currently have. Digital movement really shows the game's age. Top analog speed can still be tied to the speed stat. I personally find analog movement to be an extremely immersive element in any game's design.

I think a great idea for this and other Bethesda-style RPGs would be a quest that ends with your ability to buy or inherit a business. Many of us are constantly on the verge of being overburdened and then we have to seek the right shopkeepers to offload the loot. Instead, what if you had your own storefront and a manager with whom you could offload the stuff? It could be locked until you reach a certain level or require a long series of quests. We almost got there with the “white phial” quest in Skyrim. This would be a fun way to make money in the game and a shoutout to your more entrepreneurial fans!

Also, as I’m sure others are suggesting, leveled loot should be optional or turned off.

I just wish staves didn't have only one spell attached to it or something. Rather, a staff should be a tool to amplify magic spells. They could reduce mana cost or increase damage or something. A Fire Staff would amplify destruction fire-related spells, and there could be Illusion staves, Alteration staves, Conjuration staves. Or maybe just all-purpose staves, less powerful but more flexible to use. Maybe a staff that can amplify two schools of magic instead of just one. That way it would make sense to roleplay a mage build with staves as their main weapon, and not feel like I have to wield a shield and a sword to maximize my damage. Builds like SpellBlades could still go for Swords and Spells, but without the staff amplifying their magic. For one off spells that cost no mana we already have scrolls anyway.

A lot off the difficulty scaling issues were fixed by mods like oscuro's oblivion overhaul. They made enemy difficulty more static with easy areas which were always easy and high level areas that were always difficult. Custom difficulty scaling with some level of granularity (i,e decoupled incoming damage/outgoing damage sliders) or a "lethal mode" where damage is based on enemy type and armour would go crazy.

Also, two handed claymores have an animation issue where they always "load" (as in ready) the second swing and this cannot be cancelled. With one handed weapons you can cancel the second swing by blocking during the first attack, and I'd like to see that implemented to improve the feel of two handers.

  1. Please offer an option to use the original color palates, maybe some additional color palate options. The desaturated look kills the fantasy rpg vibe, but you shouldn’t nuke it. It is beautiful in its own category.

  2. Please adjust the difficulty settings to be fair. If I recall correctly, adept was a nice balance where you did a fair amount of damage and received a fair amount of damage. The default adept, middle of the road, seems like enemies have the upper hand, while anything below that you’re almost invincible. Likewise anything above adept feels like the enemies hit extra hard and have an insane amount of health. On novice it makes sense to do heavy damage and receive low damage.

  3. Add mod support for all platforms

  4. Add an option to adjust physical appearance later in the game. Because of the poor light setting when final tweaks were made just before exiting the sewers, my readjustment choices look abysmal. Character creation is time consuming and difficult to begin with.

I think one thing that would be nice would be expanding Mod support would be a very nice addition to this game. It would allow the community to resolve some of the performance and technical difficulties.

I would love to see an expansion to show some of the other aspects of the Oblivion Crisis, such as the Argonian counter-invasion of Oblivion and what happened in some of the other provinces.

At least an expansion for a furthering of the story in which you rebuild Kvatch and help further stabilize the empire after the crisis.

My only suggestion is please find a way to make important weapons and armor like the Daedric artifacts scale after you acquire them so you don't end up finding an enchanted elven sword carried by a highwayman that's better than a legendary artifact of a Daedric Prince.

Also the spell effects for most buff spells seem to be very temperamental when you cast them while moving.

  • Bug fixes and engine optimization (exterior performance can dip a lot)
  • UI improvements: More categories for items, cost:weight column, press e for everything, ability to delete spells

  • Items scale with you
  • Cloth gloves for mages
  • Morrowboomer mode: Add directions to quest or NPC locations to journal and disable compass

A survival mode that is similar to chesko’s mods for Skyrim

• Eat, sleep, and drink water. Refill your water skin in rivers etc

• Multiple types of tents with different uses. Please not a lean-to, but actual tents

• fishing, wood and resource gathering, let us burn books and stuff for fireplaces

• Craftable, wearable, and equiptable lanterns

• Visible Red Mountain and mushroom trees at Morrowind border

I know it's a well known issue, but by the Nine please either revert to the original difficulty slider or tweak the damage scaling asap, it's probably the only changed mechanic that limits and hinders the game compared to the original, and it impacts the gameplay enough that my playthrough is on hold until it's fixed.

The remaster is great, but it's hard to believe any play testing was done when it comes to difficulty.

Second this!!! A simple 3x damage multiplier would be amazing. Some of my best memories with combat in classic Oblivion was when I used Duke Patrick’s combat simulation mods, which increased damage from the player and NPCs. They also did a LOT more than just multiply damage, but combat with higher damage is more intense and less tedious. Can’t stand damage sponge enemies. I believe some concepts from his archery mod were incorporated into Skyrim as well?

Also, thi Remaster is amazing - what a major fan service and stellar treatment of my favorite game ever. I feel like the luckiest gamer.

Looks like the developers weren't aware that: 1) the sun appears yellow only due to atmospheric scattering and is actually the source of the whitest light there is, and 2) because the thickness of the atmosphere that the sunrays have to go through changes throughout the day, sunlight appears redder around the sunrise and sunset, compared to it being the source of the white light in the midday

Certain details are hidden behind a (on controller, R3) "Show Details" pane. This is most painful for me when trying to recharge enchanted equipment as the trapped soul level of a soul gem is hidden in this panel.

Some items, such as those that bestow magical effects like food and ingredients or potions, as well as enchanted gear, show a subset of the "Details" panel in a semi-transparent flyover pane—like the Spell Effectiveness flyover—that could be really useful for soul gems.

One step further, a dedicated Recharge Equipment menu could be accessible from somewhere in character, inventory, or magic (or even just by activating a valid soul-contoaning soul gem) that would persist and not close after each gem used.

I LOVE the improvements so far that were implemented in the remaster but some minor ones I think could be added are:

  • Categories for different gear to make finding things easier like in the Original Oblivion (stuff like the Alchemy menu having separate tabs for ingredients, potions, and Apparatus)

  • Making Companions and followers essential or at least harder to kill like in Skyrim or Fallout New Vegas

  • Minor stability patches for devices like Steamdeck and lower end PCs

  • And this last one is a Hail Mary but... maybe a Survival mode like in Skyrim?

Please consider moving beyond a single difficulty slider to offer more granular control. Instead of just scaling everything, let players adjust specific factors like Enemy Damage Output separately from Enemy Health.

Simply increasing enemy health often creates "spongy" enemies that take tedious amounts of damage, which feels less like a skill challenge and more like a chore. Allowing separate control means players can choose if difficulty comes from enemies hitting hard (requiring skillful avoidance) or being durable (requiring sustained combat), or a mix.

Furthermore, give players control over their own power, including sliders for Player Damage Output and specifically Critical Damage (like Sneak Attacks, or a random factor if we critical strike instead of 100% chance).

Slider for decrease chance for enemies to drop gear, items or maybe only 1 item depending on slider config?

Slider controlling the factory of mercantile, alchemy etc as you can cheese the game with over 25k every 3 days by creating Restore Fatigue potions etc

This helps prevent players from becoming too overpowered too quickly, especially with certain builds. Finally, offer options to adjust Skill Progression Rate or XP Gain to slow down leveling if desired. These separate controls allow players to truly customize the challenge, ensuring the game remains engaging longer and fits various playstyles, providing a more modern and tailored experience.

I believe it would be much more enjoyable for players if rewards were not scaled to their level when obtained, so they wouldn’t become obsolete so quickly.
I also think that having enemies scale endlessly alongside the player feels quite strange, as it breaks immersion — for example, seeing a random bandit wearing Daedric armor — and it also makes the game extremely difficult.
On top of that, certain enemies and items simply stop appearing once the player reaches a certain level, which again hurts immersion.
Lastly, the gap between selectable difficulty levels feels too wide and exaggerated. The jump from Adept to Expert is enormous and unbalanced.
These small adjustments would greatly enhance the experience without compromising the original essence. Best regards.

The two-hand system from Skyrim would be a dream, but that is surely out of scope of any possible improvement... So could I ask for:

  1. Keybind tweaks. I want to be able to use E to apply various popups. And some key to open the local map.
  2. More inventory tabs. Separate ingredients from potions.
  3. Unique items should be of fixed level. Not necessarily of the highest level possible, but some balanced approach to fixed levels would be nice.
  4. When looting, make it easier to see player's own inventory, don't hide it behind some "Search" key.
  5. Show current inventory weight when looting.
  6. When viewing item details, make item effects the first "tab". It is annoying to keep switching to the effects when scrolling through items.
  7. Make Khajiit Night Eye power a toggle.
  8. Tweak enemy scaling and enemy equipment levelled lists to have some logical ceilings. To prevent bandits in high-end armors from spawning, unless they are some kind of boss. This doesn't mean removing level scaling completely, just tweak it. Make it behave more like in Skyrim.
  9. Of course, tweak the difficulty options.

I would really love to see two new difficulty options. For the first one, I really feel like there should be a difficulty between adept and expert. I just cruise through the game with no pushback on adept, but on expert, a single mountain lion feels like a dark souls boss. I also think it would be really cool to have a difficulty akin to Ghost of Tsushima's "lethal mode". Basically a difficulty above master, where instead of adding to enemies health pool and making them do more damage, everybody gets heavily increased damage, making fights much deadlier overall for player and opponents. I feel like it would really unlock the full potential of strategy in the combat. (Stealth would be broken af though)

Example: finished tutorial for character A, saved at the end of the sewers and continue, come back to save to try a different character, change everything I want and continue with character B and save a separate time. Go to main screen and see character B's name, and character A's save is listed inside that load. • On XB1, in order to find out the stats on a Sigil stone we pulled, we must select it and it pulls up a new screen. If we have multiple of the same kind with different stats, it is difficult to remember which one we had selected, because when going back to the Inventory, the cursor goes to the top of the list of items, not back to the item we were just viewing. Please let it go back to the item we were on (if it must go to that new menu at all) so it can be more easily remembered which Sigil stone we were viewing 🙂

  • Remove the need to keypress to view your inventory when inspecting contents of something; just have it pop up automatically. There is no discernible benefit of it not immediately appearing.

  • In the original Oblivion, we could press the "take all" button even when the container was empty, and it would close it out. I do this out of habit, and I wish it was an option in this version also.

  • Donning the Fin Gleam performs a bit too much festive fireworks; maybe the first time would be nice, but every time is a bit much.

  • In the original, we didn't need to line up the crosshairs EXACTLY on the spot of coins or objects on the ground; we could point NEAR a cluster of them and rapid tap and pick them all up. This was one of the benefits Oblivion brought over Morrowind, because in Mw you had to be EXACTLY on the object to get it, but Oblivion improved on that but only having to be nearish and it would pick objects like coins or seeds, within a radius. Please bring back the radius pickup.

I wonder if the server mods could make this channel or a sister forum/threads style channel for these suggestions so we can have individual proposed ideas in their own posts.

That way, based on interaction and maybe some kind of rating system, it'd be easy for BGS and Virtuous to see which community requests are the most popular.

Edit: as for my suggestions, I'd like:

  • More favorite slots than the game's base 8 (I know we wouldn't be able to make more keybinds, but a customized quick list of important things similar to Skyrim's favorites would be super convenient)

  • A dedicated button or key on the map to quickly swap to the interior map. I know you can click on the circle above the zoom bar, but there is no hotkey equivalent and clicking up there is clunkier than a key press would be.

  • Cleared tags for dungeons (if possible), and opening the map within a dungeon defaults to the interior/local map, not world map.

General.

  • An option/toggle for more faithful lighting. The vivid greens/blues of Oblivion gave the game a unique identity that helped it stand out from other games in the genre, as well as other games in the series. The Remasters decision to change lighting and colours to a more muted brown and grey aesthetic makes the game less visually distinct, and takes away from the "high fantasy" aesthetic. If there was an option to swap between colour/lighting palettes (similar to a colour-blindness mode) this could allow fans of the old visuals and fans of the new visuals to be happy.

  • The ability to remove custom spells. This has been something fans have wanted since the original release, and would incentivise players to experiment with the spell crafting mechanic without filling their inventory with spells they don't want, cluttering the menus and game experience.

Controller specific.

  • Interacting with sliders (eg. "how many items to deposit") becomes frustrating when dealing with large stacks. Very niche use case, but the ability to enter a custom number text (eg. "take 625") or the ability to move the slider more freely, similar to on PC where you can drag it quickly using a mouse.

I could be wrong but are there no birds in Oblivion (og or remastered)??? You hear birds quite often but I never recall seeing them flutter away while walking through the woods or soaring in the distant sky. If there are none adding minor flocks of birds here and there would greatly improve in the immersion.

I play with Hand to Hand on master and would like to see something done about the abyssmal damage cap for hand to hand. What made it appealing in the original was not only the extremely fast attacks, but also the KOs. I understand the KO was a little cheese, but I would really like to see hand to hand have less lag time between the 4 hit attack patterns than the other weapons. Or at the very least, make scaling for strength/agility/weapon skills work beyond 100 so I can utilize fortify spells to increase my damage in some way. All it takes is an enemy with absorb health or some form of healing to make it feel impossible for me to kill them on master.

Hello I would like to add a suggestion for quality of life improvements. The shortcut wheel please fix it. The fact that it not only no longer pauses the game when pulling it up imo is bad enough and makes playing a mage who is continually swapping spells around just not fun as it stands but the main issue with it is you can't even move while you're in the menu making the wheel feel useless to the point of it becoming better to just pause the game in middle of combat to swap etc. The second change I would like to suggest is when inside an area please make it default to a local map. I love being able to scroll in and out which wasn't possible in the original. But having it default to the world map and needing to scroll into the local map is annoying. Especially when you need to check it multiple times within a few minutes of each other

NEW FEEDBACK PART 1

Hello again. I posted a lot last night, but I've had some more ideas, and I'd like to echo some things others have suggested as well.

Echoes:

1. Please make the player's encumbrance visible when browsing the contents of a container
2. Please add easy toggles between exterior and interior maps
3. Please make the interior map the default when opening the map screen in a dungeon or building

My own suggestions, though others have probably beaten me to them:

4. The ability to look down in 1st person and see your body, like Old Oblivion's "Enhanced Camera" mod. This would be a very immersive and welcome addition
5. When talking to NPCs, one-word prompts like "Directions" and "Rumours" could be proper sentences/questions. This would be another significant boost to immersion. Old Oblivion had the "Realistic Player Dialogue Overhaul" and "Shivering Isles Player Dialogue Overhaul" mods to achieve this
**6. ** There is currently a fuzzy blurriness in the game, which may be due to Post-Processing, but I could be wrong. When I started the game, the blur on my WIP character's face in Character Creation really hurt my eyes after a short while. Once I finished my character, I went to turn Post-Processing off, but I could only set it to Low. Could you please give us an option to disable it completely? The blur effect isn't as bad for me now, but it's still present
7: Likewise, there is no option to disable Lumen Software RT

My unoriginal but hopefully not unfounded suggestions are based on existing mods and the original game:

  • Return the original continuous-function difficulty slider. The current intervals are set much too far apart, I found this change to be a downgrade.
  • Add a keyring or other way to collapse all keys and tidy up the view. They don't weigh enough to matter but do take up enough visual space to worsen menu navigation.
  • Enable more flexible resolution support across Fullscreen & Borderless modes. Fullscreen is needlessly limited to 1080p in 32:9 ratio, while Borderless is needlessly fixed to native 2160p in native 32:9 ratio. Let us choose exactly what we'd like to run.
  • Provide at least some sort of AA setting. UE5 has a variety of great TAA and non-TAA parameters, changing them in the .ini file isn't very accessible to most people.
  • Make the interior map open by default when indoors, exterior map default when outdoors
  • Update the color of oblivion gate map markers to indicate they've been destroyed

Absolutely loving the remaster.. played oblivion 20 years ago in college and this is major nostalgia vibes. Here are my suggestions. Playing on PS5:

  1. Support for mods similar to Skyrim and Fallout on console (even though Sony’s policy on those sucks)
  2. Better looking male faces.. and the ability to change body type (muscular, etc). 😂
  3. Add a barber or some way to change appearance after leaving sewer.
  4. New DLC / content would be awesome!
  5. More shortcut slots
  6. Show encumbrance when looting
  7. Please fix the more glaring bugs such as my weapon going invisible when in the inventory screen, major quest bugs, etc

I don't know if it's possible, with how Morrowind worked. Over the other Elder Scrolls. But could you add Levitate into Oblivion Remaster? Could you at least allow Telekinesis to do a little more. Such as using it on NPCs like a grip effect or push/pull. Thank you again for this game and to the devs reading all these.

ok one thing that i find to be incredibly immersion breaking but also just obvious is that certain quests have reward weapons and gear that is leveled loot, This hits two ways. first is that the LL items are kinda just thrown out as they more or less become outdated and the second is that my tiny monkey brain cant help but leave quests undone until level 30 (can't have that precious chillrend not be maxed before it goes in the bottom of the loot sack next to my bed)

The new dlcs has a system of scaling gear, maybe a simple system to level up item loot levels could be nice. doesnt have to be crazy, could just be a table in the mages guild or frostcrag? or an npc who 'unlocks its hidden power' or something. Especially after the new dlcs kinda removed gear progression from the early game i think this could be a good way to at least return variety to the game.

NEW FEEDBACK PART 2

8. I am playing on almost all Ultra settings. In the Character/Inventory/Magic screens, the player character looks detailed, with high-res textures and appropriate shininess. However, when viewed in-game in 3rd person, the player appears very matte/dull, with low-res textures in their clothing/equipment, hair, skin and eyes. The hair is especially bad because it looks as though it's a swarm of little dots that form the loose shape of the player's hairstyle, but not the actual hair. There is also a grey translucent fuzz that sometimes appears around the edges of the player's dotty, blotchy hair. Please amend these issues.
9. Some clothes, which shouldn't clip through each other, do. For example, at least on a female Breton, the Stitched Leather Shoes clip through the Blacksmith's Pants, and the Burgundy Linens clip through the back of the Quilted Doublet. Could the various items of clothing be slightly reshaped to be more compatible with each other?
10. Could you please allow us to disable battle music? I always found it immersion-breaking when I was a mid or high level character, going about my business, and the fight music would begin... Only for my enemy to be a one-hit-kill rat, wolf, or mudcrab. The peaceful music of the outside world, or the chilling ambience of the dungeons, was rudely interrupted by fight music for all of two seconds. The option to disable battle music would be a great boost to immersion for me, as the other soundtracks would continue to play uninhibited in and out of combat

I noticed a few QOL things missing immediately.

  1. There doesn't seem to be a way to place items in containers/corpses/etc. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet but that used to be an easy slide the menu over and select the item kind of thing. You should also be able to see your inventory and its weight when going into a container, IMO there should be two menus displayed left and right, one for the container and the other side for your inventory

  2. Bartering has a similar problem, you can't press X(xbox) to barter unless you are on the merchants side already, you used to be able to do it from both.

QOL:

  • Forget spell (when character level high enough. those low level spell get redundant and too many spell especially with custom spell make the spell list too big and big cluster)
  • Better spell filters (e.g. filter by spell school), also if possible add spell name search. with limited binding, managing big spell list often end up searching spell. Sometime i found it's hard to find my spell
  • Alchemy: for the filter it will be nice to have option to show any option have more than 2 ingredients (i.e. craftable option only) especially for leveling it will be great

Got a few suggestions for missing features from the original game:

  • first person horse view
  • inverted map icons for undiscovered locations
  • inventory + magic subcategories and/or a way to jump through the inventory + spell lists quicker
  • option to bind a single menu button like the original instead of separate inventory/magic/map/character buttons
  • ability to hold the "change view" button to view your character
  • auto-filter compatible ingredients in the alchemy menu after adding an ingredient
  • local map as a separate page rather than having to zoom in every time
  • more text size options (large is still a lot smaller than the original)

Here’s my idea for a DLC

Add continuations to the guild quests.

Examples:

Dark brother hood could have a story in conflict with the Mora Tong, our players can go on an adventure of assassin vs assassins.

Mages guild could have some story where we help the Psjic order that appears in Skyrim, popssibly on the island of Artaeum.

Thieves guild could have us do quest for nocturnal where she finds us and has us steal items for her from the other daedric lords, or just the ones she’s most in conflict with.

Fighters guild could have a company wide contract to destroy some knew threat a rich mining company found beneath the earth while digging too deep. Maybe they find some falmer? or draugar? Could be set in the mountains on the border of skyrim. Like a black reach size cave, or under ground place.

Or a DLC that expands cyrodils boarder a bit, so we can go and journey into the very first parts of all surrounding regions, blackmarsh, skyrim, Morrowind, elsywer, hammer fell, vallenwood. Just like first city deep into each region. So we can experience those places and some of the atmosphere and lore, creatures and differences, could also help get us excited for TES6.

I would absolutely love a campfire/frostfall/hunterborn/ineeds/fishing package for oblivion.
Maybe also a hearthfire type addon.
The ability to customize weapons and armor like in fallout 4. Not guns necessarily but alter weapons and armor. Alter arrows. Ability to set fires or snuff out fires for lighting or stealth. The ability to distract enemies n other npcs with a whistle or rock mechanic or to shoot an arrow off somewhere like skyrim. Useable pickaxes, woodaxes and shovels. Dual wielding. Throwing weapons like in Morrowind. Also levitation like in morrowind. Kill cams and parry kill cams. A whole bunch of stuff but if nothing else at least the first thing i asked for. I love camping and hunting and living off the land in elder scrolls.

And I know this isnt Oblivion related but please for the love of God please give us a remake/master like this for Morrowind. And please dont tone down the lore. Morrowind was so out there in lore and characters and world building. Its so awesome!!

If it hasn't already been suggested:

  • Unlimited custom map markers.
This is a feature present in games as old as the old SSI dungeon crawlers like Ravenloft and Menzoberranzan. It would be great to be able to leave custom map markers for things that aren't already given one by the game.

  • Keep last map state when closing and re-opening the map (local or world)
If looking at the map have it so when you close then re-open the map it keeps the last state of the map you were looking at. So, for example, if I am looking at the local map of a dungeon, when I close it, I'd like it to stay on the local map rather than having to click the circle at the top of slider or zoom all the way in when I re-open the map.

  • Followers sneak when you sneak
If I'm not mistaken, I think in the OG Oblivion when you would sneak so would your followers, if I am mistaken, can we implement this feature into the game?

1- add shop markers to compass when in settlements
2- be able to sneak to lose enemies. once they see you they dont unsee you no matter how good you hide.
3- a slow down affect when zooming bow. similar to skyrim.

5-ability to sort items by time acquired, i always miss what reward i get and have to figure out whats new in inventory

-When in a dungeon, have the map shortcut button go to the local map instead of the world map.

-Have an indicator on the map when you've cleared a dungeon, mine, etc (like Skyrim)

-Photo mode with a suite of options like filters, choosing time of day and weather (especially the ability to choose the ominous red sky that occurs near oblivion gates), character poses or removing character, etc.

-If photo mode isn't an option, maybe at least have an option that allows you to have the UI (including cross hairs) completely disappear if you've been standing still for a few seconds, which will allow for screenshots without any UI/other things on the screen.

-Make the windows in your homes transparent so you can see out of them (I realize this is probably an unrealistic ask but thought I'd mention it)

-Have a transmog system for weapons and armor (I realize this may be another tough one to implement)

-Have an option that allows for auto pickup of plant and other alchemy items if you walk over them.

-Have the ability to unselect an active quest so you have no active quests/quest markers on the map and compass showing

-Have a repeatable quest that allows you to defend your Battlehorn Castle against waves of enemies while you and your knights defend it (I realize this probably isn't feasible but just thought it'd put the Battlehorn Castle home to more use other than it being a home)

-Have a sort option in the Inventory that groups "like items" together. For example, in the alchemy menu have an option to sort so all the potions are grouped together, all the poisons are grouped together and all alchemy ingredients grouped together.

-Related to inventory grouping above, maybe have a collapsible sub menu that you can open and close for groups of items. In the alchemy screen, for example, it'd be nice to have all the alchemy ingredients grouped together and then they can be collapsed/hidden. This would make it much easier to find potions when looking for them

2- Put the controller hotkeys on the D-Pad like it was in the original on console. Please fix

3- Show what soulgems are filled and to what magnitude, again like it was in the original. Please fix

4- alchemy crafting is clunky and need a over hall.(So much wrong I do not know where to start)

5- Can no longer block with weapons sheathed despite having a shield equipped. Please fix and allow blocking when weapon is sheathed and shield is equipped.

6- Will o the wisp enemy is immune to magic. Please fix and allow magic to damage will o the wisps again, like it was in the original.

7- When using a controller and pressing B (O) to exit the Alchemy crafting menu the cursor does not return to where it was in the Alchey Inventory menu (Eg on the Alchemy Apparatus) Please fix.

8- When in sneak and while moving, sprint does not sprint nor make the character stand. Please allow the abillity to sprint out of sneak.

9- Add back unique sounds for the different types of containers. Please fix.

10- Getting to the local map is clunky and poorly designed, make it always bring up local map whenever inside dungeons.

Bethesda, please make it so that the quest markers aren’t so vague, perhaps make them more like the ones in Skyrim, they seem to just show you roughly where to go and then once you get there, there are no instructions, and I feel like that turns off many new players, including myself also please change or fix the persuasion mini game as well as the lock picking it has pretty much halted the game for me and I would love to enjoy this game and it’s entirety without all of the road blocks.
I know there are OG players who think the game should be the way it is and that’s fine, maybe add separate option that can be toggled on or off, but coming from a new player like myself who started with Skyrim and sunk hundreds of hours into it, these changes are necessary for maximum enjoyment .

Map indication of if you've visited the interior a location previously- mostly for ruins/caves. I understand that there are less boss level enemies in Oblivion so maybe this is something the player would have to mark down themselves, instead of being automatic.

The way points disappear when I go in a building so I have no idea who to talk to or what to do. Very confusing. Also would be cool if we could buy more than one item at a time from shops. Like if I buy 5 lockpicks it'd be nice to just select 5 at a time instead of one at a time.

I would also like to add, the mini game for persuasion seems broken. Maybe it's just me? But I can't figure it out to save my life and it's holding my back from progressing in the game.

I really liked in the original game how the items in the alchemy and miscellaneous tabs were already organized by type. It's annoying having to scroll through all the alchemy ingredients and potions trying to empty out items or sell. Same with the misc tab when there's a ton of keys to get through. Would love to have more sorting options other than AZ, weight, DMG, gold value. Also, an option to have item and spell descriptions pop up automatically instead of having to constantly turn them on. When opening a chest or other inventory it would be nice to have our own inventory pop up at the same to make it quicker to move items

*The option to delete spells is needed currently it's way too hard to find the ones you want. *Fix the levelled rewards (fingers of the mountain, Chillend, etc) to one set level or they level with you).

I really only would like a couple of things, and personally, I want them to be options in the Settings, I do enjoy what has been made with the base game, and how much it resembles the original, I really don't want the core experience to be forcibly changed, or to add any more content, the game is a Remaster and it feels like one, but there are definitely some things I miss, as well as some things I didn't.

  1. Separate Difficulty when it comes to Damage Dealt, and Damage Taken. Having your options being breeze through the whole game, or fall asleep fighting damage sponges for far too long is unappealing, while it was present (and in my opinion, still unappealing,) in the original, there were some things which allowed players to deal with higher-scaled difficulty more effectively

  2. Option to remove the Attribute and/or Skill Caps in the damage formulae. Hand-To-Hand is pretty much worthless, since you can't buff your damage with Strength above 100 or whacky Fortify Fatigue strats. Also, Strength over 100 not affecting Damage any further makes the current iteration of higher difficulties unplayable past a certain level, unless you specifically use Poisons, Conjuration, or other specifically Cheese-y methods. I actually quite like that the Cheese-y methods work, but I would like traditional Attribute buffing to be a viable option so a somewhat normal playstyle can be viable at high level, high difficulty play, with some doing

  3. Option to use Legacy levelling, I hit level 10 by doing Alchemy and Mercantile without ever leaving the Capital Isle, mostly because I wasn't really paying close attention while playing. While I do think this is hilarious, not being able to use non-combat skills more than a tiny bit without leveling up isn't something I'll always be happy about. Just the option would be nice

  4. Option to disable Passive Health regen, it feels like a bit much

  5. Return Difficulty Settings to use sliders, fine control is better

  6. Fix first person shadow

Hi all, I've been doing a lot of playtesting with two mods and I made a program that generates all of the possible damage combinations that result from the versions of those mods.

I have a spreadsheet of a lot of these combinations here if you want to see how I got all of these values: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZU3LB7t6Pr0Rx_ul08GPUYMZn8eJjt9GdDJHda8fmmo/edit?gid=1573290654#gid=1573290654

Edit: The spreadsheet was made initially to help people that are modding their game find a good difficulty for them, so the recommended difficulties tab in the spreadsheet isn't what I'm recommending here.

The recommendations I'm making here are in the document below.

The biggest gripe I've heard (and share) about difficulty is that anything above Adept makes the enemies too tanky.

I don't want to eat up all the message space here so here's a Google Doc to suggested damage improvements: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y8Lot64uaJ6mIYFETbreJv90zxWdfdt4Uv01BYfBCVw/edit?tab=t.0

I have a few small suggestions

  1. Make Palace Guard armor lootable, in the original it's fully complete & usable but just not set as viewable in inventory

  2. Obtainable Bound Mythic Dawn Armor, it's very iconic but not obtainable without mods/cheats which is unfortunate

  3. Reduce carry weight of Dremora and Daedric items, the weight of these is absurd!

  4. Buff the Ruined Akaviri Katana, it's useless by the time it's obtained. I'd suggest reducing its carry weight and maybe increasing the swing speed from 1.0 to 1.1

That's it, love the remaster! 🙏

On PC, the player movement speed when travelling up inclines seems to react differently depending on the frame rate. At 30FPS, the player moves almost as fast uphill as they do on flat terrain. As the framerate increases, it becomes harder to climb hills. I don't mind the new feel of moving slower uphill, but it's unclear to me which behaviour is the intentional one given the stark difference it makes. I also wonder if the effect has an upper bound or if it could potentially become unplayably slow if the framerate ramped up to the hundreds

But it would be awesome if it worked that way. Even if it was some kind of ARENA-type multiplayer.

Beyond that pipedream though,

id call this a suggestion and not a bug, please please please fix the dark brotherhood door, readd the lighting, fix the texture cause theirs two more children than theirs supposed to be, and readd the same ambiance that was lost

also a color fix like some of the mods for console would be awesome, i see them and get so sad knowing i cant use them lmao, the game looks amazing but its missing that extra green that made the og speical

i agree with above that you should be able to delete spells, that or add more sorting options as its very limited and hard to find whats custom vs not afterawhile

multiple weapon wheels instead of one <8 quick slots isnt enough and us console players gotta suffer through the menus to get the spells and weapons we want swapped at a reasonable speed> not to mention heals and potions and such, just more slots or an extra wheel would do wonders

idk if this would be a bug or not, but changing the way effects apply to your character to avoid crashing would be a nice touch

and most importantly to me lmao, please please keep the glitches people are fond of, nothing that breaks the game but stuff that lets you do quirky things like the og had, like keeping in the dupe glitches hurts no one 🙂 just shows you wanna keep some of the jank that made it speical while removing the stuff no one likes like crashes etc etc, focus on the big things and not small stuff we love ❤️

and please fix the difficulty slider back in, its hard to pick between adept or expert as one or the other is to little or much, and the og gave you just the right amt of control to fix it,

<if a dev sees this y'all did amazing and the remaster is very faithful, as an og player ive had so much fun and ive already soaked in almost 200 hours>

The things that REALLY need adding as QOL are
-Ability to fast travel to dungeon entrance
-Automatically open dungeon & city maps first when inside them, or at least remember the dungeon map is open and keep it there (zooming in every 30 seconds as you try to find your way out is super infuriatiing)
Especially cause most people dont know it is even in the game right now.
-just let us fast travel from inside a city, to another city.

Man a lot of these suggestions are terrible. Or total scope creep. Whole new quest lines and major mechanical changes to base systems are way outside the scope of a remaster. The redone leveling system is about as far as I can imagine a change like that going, and it was only done because the original leveling system was actually broken. I hope the devs reading these don't get discouraged due to silly requests like those.

Anyway, I have some suggestions for minor things that have bugged me.

I would like some more UI features in the main menu. Being able to sort by GP/weight would be a huge QoL improvement. Other ways to sort spells would be nice. Custom/default too.

This is a fairly large change, but I do think that the enemy scaling is off. A more skyrim inspired zone scaling system would be nice. Like, suddenly I am level 20 and I never see Imps anymore, they've all been replaced with Minotaurs and Land Dreughs. If the scaling was tuned in such a way that nothing ever totally stopped spawning, it would be nice in several ways. It would allow the PC to feel more powerful because it is sometimes fun to just oneshot low level enemies, but you'd still have many scaled enemies to keep things challenging.

Thank you any developer taking the time to read this.

Please fix the stats on Brusef Amelions armor.
It currently has a carey weight of 21 for every single equipment piece and its statline is that of the chainmail armor.

This makes the Brusef Amelions set rather useless as it is too weak, while at the same time too heavy
Even of you are to fix the off pieces weight values around 21, that still makes it the heaviest light armor in the game.

My recommendation: Increase the Brusef Amelions armor to match the Elven Armor in defense values, and keep the weight value of the cuirass at 21 while fixing the Helm, Gauntlet, Shield, Greaves and Boots.

This would be a nice middle ground, with the armor being fairly powerful, but also fairly heavy. (For a light armor)

From highest to lower priority:

❤️

  • Option to turn off the compass.
  • Option to turn off the dark info boxes on interactables hover.
  • Option to turn off outline on items.
  • Option to turn off spotlights in character dialogue
  • Option to turn off reticle/crosshair, retaining interaction/sneak labels.
  • Adjustment to the difficulty scaling.
Apparently the default "Adept" option is x1 for both dealt and received damage, but it comes across as x1 dealt, ~x0.25 received. An option with a scaling of around x1 dealt and x3 received might be ideal. Or a flat x3 for both.
Reasoning being: it is challenging and fun to receive significant damage, it isn't to deal close to none in return.

💚

  • The player character model should scale appropriately based on race selection.
  • Lower the player character movement speed for both running and sprinting. Sprint is a nice addition, but feels redundant with the running speed already being much higher than it is in the original, and it being the default movement mode, as opposed to walking.

💙

  • Align moon phase lighting to reflect the actual position of the sun for consistent sky illumination.
The moons do go through different phases, but the lighting does not match the sun's position
  • Reduce interior fog density and adjust ambient lighting to improve visibility and mood.
  • Tweak exterior ambient lighting to provide better contrast and depth; consider reducing exterior fog density slightly where it becomes overwhelming. The main issue is excessive ambient light - Lumen skylight leaking through geometry which results in a flatter, less dynamic image, underplaying Lumen's global illumination.
  • Adjust the HUD/interface background color to be darker and less saturated, bringing it closer to the original.
  • Fix instances of objects and landscape pieces clipping/hovering over environments, exposing culled backfaces.

We could stand to use less time in the inventory menu as it breaks up the flow of the game. To that end:

*Subdivide potions from the ingredients tab into their own category so we're not scrolling through hundreds of ingredients to use a magicka potion
*Expand the shortcuts menu, adding more pages...i.e on Xbox, we could maybe hold down L1 and use D-Pad to scroll through additional tabs, which could maybe be categorized by item type

Game is great. I'm really having a blast. This was a nostalgia trip I didn't expect to have, but it's like it's 2006 all over again ❤️

As previous suggestions mentioned, a way to “upgrade” or raise leveled gear up. What’s particularly annoying is certain original DLCs, like Mehrunes Razor, where the level of gear is RNG, so a unique item may be worse with no way to fix it.

Ranaline, an original NPC newly repurposed for the Deluxe DLC, is essential even upon both quests competition, as a result, after “Dagon Shrine”, players may have a hostile and violent Mythic Dawn agent rampaging around town that quite literally cannot be stopped.

It would be great if a level scaling system similar to Skyrim was implemented. Enemies would still scale, but within limits, and there would be no more bandits wearing glass and daedric armor, breaking both lore and the in game economy. New loading screen is inconsistent with rest of Oblivion UI. As it lacks traditional UI background, every time it appeares on a screen, it feels like the game accidentally jumped and freezed at some unknown location (always at closed space, which is somewhat depressing). 1.) Hand-to-Hand damage buffs, the new changes to fatigue and melee damage scaling have made it much less effective, especially compared to the other combat skills, so some flat damage buffs that scales up as the skill is leveled would go a long way

2.) The ability to hide/delete spells from your spell list, too many useless spells clogging up the list in the late game

This has been bugging me a lot and I mostly love the remaster but the staff of worms and skull of corruption haven't been working properly.

The clones made by the skull of corruption often don't equip the originals armor, sometimes not even weapons and straight up don't attack at times.

Please make the levels more difficult to achieve so you can’t power level skills to 100 super fast.

Give a few more difficulty options between adept and expert.

Make it so there are easier ways to improve your mana pool and mana regeneration please.

With melee combat please change it so your character slide through the enemy you are fighting and meld into one another leading in to very confusing exchanges.

Add a barber in cities so you can change your appearance without needing to go in to console and show race menu.

Add more lootables on animals - for example if you kill a bear or a lion you receive a useless pelt with very little value. Why not increase the value, lower the carry weight of that pelt and have other lootables like meat and something else as an alchemy ingredient?

Give us a follower who can carry our junk or lower the carry weights of heavier more valuable items so we are not leaving behind all that sweet loot in dungeons or in caves.

I have a couple of suggestions:

  1. Minimap/Local Map to navigate Dungeons and Oblivion Gates, the Original had this feature, it wasn't exactly needed if you knew what you were doing but it provided some nice QoL

  2. Mark Completed Oblivion Gates and Dungeons on the World Map, this could easily be done by adding a little checkmark or Cross on top of the Map Icon, that way players don't have to Fast Travel to every Gate they have on the Map when they need more Sigil Stones, and it's just a nice reminder of your progress

  3. Levelled Items should be able to scale to the Player's Level, several unique Items have this annoying feature where they are scaled to your level at the moment you acquire them, and there is no way to upgrade these items to stronger versions of themselves, such as the Unique enchanted Kvatch Cuirass you get by completing The Battle for Castle Kvatch, the one and only exception being the Divine Crusader Weapons and Armour from Knights of the Nine which can be upgraded at the Priory of the Nine.

This is a feature from the Original that I was hoping would be changed in the Remaster, because it punishes players who obtain these items at lower levels, unless they start another playthrough or use Console Commands they will always be stuck with the lower level version of these items

Okay, going old school, here...

Bring back the Spell Customization system from Arena where you could create and customize spells at the Mage's Guild.

Yes, players broke that system in truly horrendously overpowered ways. But, with Console Commands and the existence of mods like the Kryptonian pack for Skyrim (letting you play a full Kryptonian powerhouse), players that want to munchkin are going to munchkin anyways. For those of us with some restraint, being able to craft spells would be a fun addition to immersion.

  1. Modernizing the Close Combat System:
The current close combat system feels somewhat limited, especially for pure melee fighters.
• A. It would be great to introduce mechanics similar to Chivalry II, such as adding kicks to push enemies back. These could scale with the Athletics skill, making movement and combat more dynamic.
• B. A shield bash or shield push mechanic would also add a lot of tactical depth to melee combat.

2. Expanding Weapon Variety:

Even Morrowind offered a wider range of weapons, including spears, throwing knives, and crossbows.
I never understood why Oblivion took a step back in this regard — it may have been due to technical limitations at the time.
In a modern remake or update, there’s no reason to hold back.
Ranged weapons in Oblivion feel underdeveloped, so adding crossbows alongside bows would already be a big improvement.
Additionally, creating a separate skill tree for throwing weapons like throwing spears, axes, and knives would bring more diversity and strategic options to combat.
3. Improving the Smithing Skill:
Compared to Skyrim, the smithing (Armorer) skill in Oblivion feels a bit lackluster.
A simple improvement would be to introduce special smithing benches at designated locations, where players can use ores and other resources to add permanent, simple effects to their equipment.
These enhancements should be less powerful than full enchantments but would still give players meaningful ways to customize their gear and make the Smithing skill more relevant and rewarding throughout the game.

Issues that disrupt my play experience:

Visual bugs that cause lingering particle effects when wearing enchanted gear or taking elemental damage.

Character model constantly holding "invisible" weapons when you open the inventory screen.

The name of my horse constantly appearing on screen while riding, every single time the cursor moves over the horse

No option to disable the names of locations appearing on the compas/on screen when entering an area

No option to remap the keyboard button to select an option in menus (it's inconvenient to press Enter when navigating dialogue or looting chests)

Bug that causes Sneak Attack to not apply proper damage multiplier

Bug that seems to cause certain enemies/attacks to instantly deal 100 damage to armor durability

Things that I would consider substantial quality of life improvements:

An option to toggle DLC plugins without editing the plugin .txt in the game files (I personally find that having instant access to the DLC, especially the player homes, interferes with the natural progression of a playthrough)

An option to set NPC dialogue to the original voice actors (I appreciate the effort it took to redo so many voice lines, but a lot of the new performances sound very flat and uninspired.)

An option to have looting menus default to the original layout automatically with both the target inventory and player inventory available by default.

Issues that the community has already solved through mods:

Difficulty scaling. Idk what the process was for deciding on the difficulty scaling, but the massive jump between Adept and Expert is absurd. There are already several mods that split the difference between those two options that make the game much more enjoyable.

Options to make the color grading closer to the original game's vibrant aesthetic.

Moderately game-changing mods I've been using since at least 2012 that have already been imported to the new game:

Adjustments to leveled enemy tables that allow low level enemies to occasionally spawn in dungeons even at higher tiers of play (makes the world feel more immersive, always felt weird that certain creatures suddenly stop existing once you get too strong.)

Leveled quest rewards. (Purely personal preference, but I use a mod that sets every unique piece of leveled gear that the player can get through quest rewards to a static power level. With the leveled loot system, I'd always spend far too much time fretting over not doing certain quests until I'd reached certain levels.)

Far-fetched pipe dream wishlist:

Armor and weapon stands in player homes

Interactive bookshelves in player homes for storing and displaying book collections

A "Favorites" menu similar to Skyrim's. The 8-slot quick select is one of the few original features that feels overly restrictive in its design by modern standards.

Closing Thoughts:

This remake is breathtaking. Oblivion is and has been my favorite videogame of all time. I have played the original for thousands of hours, and in many ways this remake has made me feel like I'm exploring my favorite fantasy world for the very first time.

I am overjoyed to see so many people who've never played the game experiencing it for the first time. I think the bug fixes and QoL changes I've suggested here would add to their enjoyment, while also improving the play experience of long time fans of the original.

If someone's actually reading all these, sorry this is so long and thank you so much for your time.

Goblin redesign feels very untrue to the original aesthetic imo. They're a completely different color and giving them all the same 😏 smirk feels very odd from a design perspective. A more neutral expression and closer skin tone to the original would make them look like a proper remaster as opposed to a redesign. Currently looks like they're from a different game entirely.

  1. Less grass and more ferns and plants on forest floors! The redwood forests should be filled smaller plant life. The assets already exist.

  2. More small trees. The forests need a little bit more smaller trees to fill them out more, that or again more plants and shrubs.

  3. Night skybox looks very bright. Maybe should be darker or more contrast.

  4. SSAO or something for non hardware raytracing. Overcast settings look flat especially in forests without hardware RT.

  5. More saturation and greens in world. Interiors look great but outside lighting is too red.

  6. First Person Horse

  7. Dynamic UI. More UI settings.

  8. Slower health regen and/or only outside of combat.

  9. Faster walk! The jog is too fast for interiors but walk should be same speed as NPC's.

As with magic where you get skill xp equal to mana cost melee skills and armor skills should get XP equal to dmg given and recived.

Since the lvling is not all up to date, it leads to some skills lvling way faster than others. (Problem with battlemages characters)

My top requested fixes features are (Xbox Series X):
☆ add page up/down in menus using d-pad left/right
☆ Fix the enchanting/spellmaking altars. I cannot add more than one effect or change attributes/skills
☆ Dungeon cleared indicator
☆ Better spell management (search, filter by skill level, forget spells etc.)
☆ Sort by item type category e.g. book/key
☆ Quest item visual indicator so I don't have to see "you can't remove..."
☆ Map improvements (option to remember last map state and/or option to default local in dungeons because holding RT then pressing every 5 seconds is a pain, option to zoom out local map as it's far too close)
☆ Option to slow time in shortcut menu
☆ Loot weapon from corpse and/or make it highlight on detect life spell
☆ Level 100 armourer option to fix in one hit as the hammer can't break anyway

Please add to Remaster modding support for all the settings, which were moddable in the original. For example fDamageWeaponMult, fDamageStrengthMult, fPerkSneakAttackMeleeNoviceMult, etc.

Currently there is no way how to mod:

  1. Base damage for all weapons
  2. How much does strength/agility affect weapon damage
  3. Sneak damage
    ... etc

So many old mods are not working properly anymore and modding is more limited than in original.

It would be great if you could add a more realistic difficulty level. In adept mode it's too easy, and in expert mode, it's not very fun. We have to hit a basic rat an excessive number of times with a two-handed hammer to kill it, while the rat only needs two or three bites to kill us...
I think it would be fun to have a difficulty level where both enemies and players die quickly.

Item reforging.

The fighters guild lacks a decent bonus for joining. The mages guild gets spellcrafting, the thieves guild get fences and the dark brotherhood get neat tools.

What I would recommend is giving the Fighters guild access to a reforger NPC, which allows you to upgrade equipment up to a certain point.
Example, reforge Chillrend to your current level, or upgrade a Steel armor set to become as powerful as Ebony.
This would let you use some of the older gear which you might like the visuals of, with leveled stats.

adding my voice to the chorus of people saying two handed weapons, specifically claymores, are underpowered.

  • attack speed is far too low, everyone agrees with this
  • the claymore combo/moveset is terrible - the long pause after the first swing is way too long. the battleaxe moveset is much better and faster.
  • the fact that you can't interrupt a swing recovery with claymores is debilitating - it leaves you open to attack for far too long. let us interrupt this swing recovery with blocking or spell casting.
  • damage is far too low compared to other weapon types.
  • having only one, two-strike combo for claymores is pretty boring and could be much more enjoyable. daggers, shortswords have very varied, interesting and fun combos which make them much more fun to play with.
  • if nothing else, simply decreasing the recovery time in the first claymore swing animation would do a lot to make things viable and enjoyable.

  • Adjustable Hud size (Compass and overlay boxes are too big)
  • Option to disable object highlight outline
  • Option to hide all HUD when outside combat (maybe just keep fatigue/stamina)
  • Option to disable overlay black boxes and only keep text? (or adjust opaque level)
  • Hotkey for local map
  • Option to disable vignette on crouch/sneak
  • Khajit fur for first-person view of hands needs improvements, looks a bit like plastic...
  • Eat without picking up into inventory (Like the Starfield update got)
  • Add sortable stack weight column to inventory
  • Keychain for keys instead of misc inventory
  • "Tab" should go back in popup boxes (Behave like "Esc")
  • "Tab" should also exit a dialogue/conversation, only "Esc" does this now.
  • "E" key should be usable next to Enter in menus/popup boxes
  • "R" key should exit loot menu also when it is empty, it only exits if there is at least 1 item to loot.
  • Swapping between menu tabs should be possible with hotkeys, example; currently you can open the map with "M", but you can not switch to map with "M" if you already have a different inventory tab open

  4. Render Mode like in **Doom **games. We should have a render mode that is similar to the original game.
  5. Search option for Inventory or expanded favorite menu. I do not like to spend sometime looking for healing or repair hammer.
  6. Arabic translation and Arabic voice over (i'd do it for free lol)

I’d really like a way to toggle the new voice acting on or off - some of it is good (hats off to the male dark elf for example) but a lot of it is worse than the original, especially for characters who were really done justice by the original. For example, several dreamy eccentric wood elf characters sounded way better with the original elf voice actors - Dagail, Cutter, and Thadon, for example, were much better before. There are others, like Hirrus Clutumnus - he had a great performance from Wes Johnson who gave him a voice distinct from all the other imperials to do him justice, and now it’s been replaced with the new imperial voice just reading out the lines in a sad voice.

In addition to individual examples like that, I’m also bothered that the male khajiit/argonian voice seems to have been almost entirely removed from the game (was there a contractual dispute or something, why would you replace him for both races?) - I liked both in the original, and I especially much prefer the old argonians to the new ones, they tend to have more interesting performances and are a better fit for the argonians in my opinion.

You could do a pass to revert individual voices if you liked (don’t let me stop you), but even then I think the game just needs a toggle in the options menu. You said a lot your goal was to preserve the feel (jank and strange voices included) of the original for anyone who wants to relive it, and I think having the option to keep all the original voice acting is essential to that.

Allow the player to play how they like, oblivion is full of game breaking bugs but that’s part of its charm. Lots of features are restricted in your games but they shouldn’t be. Let us place items like the game designers can. So we can make our rooms and stuff look cool. Sure people can break the game that way, but if they want to, why not let them? They can do it with mods anyway. Let people have fun. Don’t be scared of what might happen.

Some these suggestions I'm seeing border on dumb lmao

Anyway here's mine:

  1. there's a bug with vamp players where we lose our hair in advanced stages.

  2. Npcs are breaking out in random brawls in bruma

  3. Grey fox cowl is bugged, even after removing it guards are still trying to arrest me about 50% of the time

  4. Make player houses more immersive, I'd like the bookshelves to actually be usable at the very least, maybe some armour or weapon display things too.

  5. Oblivion gates were popping up before I'd even been to the priory, not sure if that's intentional in the remake but in the original they definitely did not pop up that early.

6.Xbox mod support would be cool

  1. Adept is far too easy and expert is a (player) meatgrinder, maybe add something in the middle.

  2. Dagail is bugged, I can't finish her mages guild recommendation because she's too busy walking into walls and not speaking.

  3. Remove (or tone down) the piss filter

I’d like to suggest you reverse the “fix” to Dorian. For context, Dorian is an NPC who in the original was the way players on console could get infinite money, by paralysing him and then looting him repeatedly (the gold would stay in his inventory) - and all the signs point to him have been made that way intentionally. His house in the imperial city is unique in that it is never locked and it doesn’t count as trespassing to enter. He never leaves the house and no one else ever comes in, and he’s not connected to any quests or content in the game, so it’s very convenient to mug him and nothing breaks if he dies. He starts with low disposition so that you can bribe him several times to put more money in his pockets, and he has unfriendly dialogue as if to tempt you to mug him (or because he knows why you’re there, seeing as there’s only one thing the player could ever want from him). The bug with his inventory is strange, it’s not behaviour seen anywhere else in the game and doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that happens by accident. And despite years of patches, he was never touched, despite being very well documented and something the developers would have been well aware of even if they hadn’t been at release.

I don’t know whether he was actually meant for players or if he was a convenience for console playetesters or something, but either way he was in the game and almost certainly put there deliberately and left there deliberately - and without the exploit he becomes a strange anomaly, an NPC with no gameplay purpose and no story, who sits in his unlocked home all day and isn’t a part of the world at all.

The bug isn’t the sort of thing you’ll take advantage of by accident, and no one ever had less fun because of it. And for some people it was an important part of the game - personally I don’t find being money-constrained interesting, and visiting Dorian to get rich was a comfy ritual at the start of every playthrough. So I propose you bring the bug back.

My sugestions:

  • Fix the balance of higher difficulties
  • Optimize the game for lower end hardare (Now mods such as "Optimalsations - Performance Stutter Latency Fix" fixes it) but should be included.
  • Make the lower graphic options not as gray (due to missing shadows and such)

Otherwise very happy with the remaster, just needs a little tweaking 🙂

The lighting in the game is beautiful, but in some scenarios the lighting feels super awkward. Especially when the weather is foggy. I have pinpointed the issue to the Skylight being too intense in some scenarios. For this I made a mod that tweaks the intensity and color grading. However, it would be better if the Skylight is tweaked in engine and changes over time and weather conditions.

So my suggestion:

  • Tweak skylight under different weather and time conditions to bring back shadows in trees and on the ground.

Here is the link to the mod for now;

Some small suggestions:

  • Just turn the difficulty settings back into a slider. Can still have notches on it showing where adept, expert, etc are, but if you just let us manually set it to somewhere in between then all the complaints about the difficulties jumping too much go away.
  • Try making some colour adjustments, as people have said. Up to you if you just update the game for everyone or if you make it a toggle in the options, but the original game was distinct for its vibrant blues and greens and, although it does make an admirable effort overall, the remaster doesn’t capture that feel well enough at present. Some areas feel far too yellow (especially near anvil for example). I’d also take another look at the shivering isles, the original had a very unique feel and the new colours aren’t recreating it well enough.
  • The local map really needs to be improved. It took me a while to realise it was even still in the game, I thought you’d removed it altogether. Instead you have to (slowly) zoom all the way in every time you open the map screen, then press the zoom button again to enter the local map, and then once you’re there if you try to zoom out at all you’re booted back to the world map. It’s really bad - when you’re trying to find your way around a twisted cave complex you need that local map, it should be what opens by default when you’re in an interior cell, you should be able to zoom in and out, and switching between it and the world map should be a single button press like in the original.
  • This would be exceeding the scope of the original, but if you were ok with doing that then adding some way to make levelled items scale up to your current level would make a big positive difference to how you play the game, you could just go do whatever you liked in whatever order and not have to worry about being stuck with a level 5 version of your favourite item. I liked the suggestion I saw from someone above of attaching it to the fighter’s guild, seconded.

I keep thinking about it, but honestly i would love a mark and recall spell to make a return, levitation too.

Throwing darts, throwing knives, and crossbows for marksman.

And what if, we could play as the saints, seducers, or dremora as optional races.

Bug: Alot of enemies t pose in combat. Mostly if they are giant.

We should be able to farm and fish, all the best games have fishing. But farming our own chosen plants for alchemy would be nice

I really want all armor to have male and female designs

Key ring item, sorting all keys

And for alchemy, i think tools and ingredients should have their own tabs in the inventory.

Ability to remove spells from your lists

Spear skill and weapons
Unarmored skill
Smithing skill for making weapons and armor

Show hide helmet option maybe?

Tweaks:

  • The lightning so it resembles the colours of the original game.
  • Local map: You can't zoom out on the local map, it automatically sends you to the region map. It would be good to have a way of zooming out on the local map to get a better understanding of one's surroundings.

Additions:

  • Mod support
  • Hide helmet option

Big changes:

  • A more dynamic/action-packed combat system (I always thought at the time that the only drawback Oblivion had was its combat system. I think the best game would have been Oblivion with the combat system of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but that would imply huge changes I think to the game, so this is more of a dream than anything)

Small note: if a dev reads this, thank you for this remaster. It's really great. ^^

The only change necessary is the colour palette being returned to the bright vibrant colours in the original

Torches should have a much wider radius of effect, they barely make a difference unless you're stood on top of what you want to look at

And obviously quest bug fixes would be nice

Please make the local map its own separate page in the UI; the original didn't have this problem, but now the only way to access it is having your mouse on the location you're already in and zoom all the way in; all that good work gone to waste on this unintuitive way to access it, imo

I don't really want any major overhauls or new features. The game is fine. We just need fixes for game breaking bugs that force you to start a new character and fixes for optimization. New weapons and armor would be cool but I really want this game to stay as close to Vanilla Oblivion as possible and leave new features and mechanics up to modders.

Also let us pin items to the top of our inventory so we don't have to scroll through 5000 items to find the Wayshrines map lol

Hello,

I strongly suggest adding an additional difficulty level between Adept and Expert.

Currently, Adept mode is too easy and Expert mode is too hard. There should be something in between.

Adept: Enemy damage x1 – Player damage : x1

Add difficulty : Enemy damage: x0.5 – Player damage :x2

Expert: Enemy damage : x0.286 – Player damage: x3.5

My primary request —- Add a mechanic to delete / forget custom spells made via Spellcrafting. Our spellbooks end up swamped with early-mid game spells that are no longer useful… not to mention spells created with mistakes, eg forgetting to change from Self to Target.

Love this game and have loved it since the original came out when I was high school. However, for the love of God do something that makes pure melee characters viable in master difficulty and higher. It's so easily outclassed damage wise by stealth archer or magic it's ridiculous. It should not take 40 hits to kill someone when my strength and blunt are maxed.

Hey guys! Some bugs i noticed:

The enchanting and spellmaking UI's are broken, and fail to allow attribute selectons other than the very first time i use the menu each loaded save.

The Ayleid statue in Wendir is missing on PS5 (I checked it didn't get knocked behind the start location) and as such the collector quest is unfinishable.

12 varla stones vanished completely when i placed them into a chest in the frostcrag spire vault. Could be to do with the speed of depositing items?

Some spells from vendors incorrectly state that you don't have enough magicka, when it's actually that you haven't reached the next tier of that skill to cast it.

Some QoL i'd love:

You should be able to go to your inventory from a chest with just L1, rather than pressing the right stick, and then L1.

The old inventory sections would be great.

A method to forget spells, to prevent menu clutter.

Expert difficulty is currently very spongy.

And some gameplay suggestions:

A way to obtain Sigil Stones, or something of a similar quality after the events of the main quest.

A method to update levelled items to your current level.

Mod support or creation club content.

Bring back the racial height differences for the player. Right now, the player is always the height of an imperial, which is awful. Playing as a bosmer means you're supposed to be short! I imagine this change was made because it standardizes movement speed for the player, but the modding community already came up with better ways to accomplish that.

After clocking in 60+ glorious hours wandering the wilds of Cyrodiil in Bethesda’s shiny new Oblivion Remastered, I’ve run into a few... quirky surprises along the way. Thought I’d share my adventures in bugland in case anyone else has encountered these (or just wants to chuckle at my misfortunes):

  1. Boar Meat: The True Final Boss
Turns out the most dangerous thing in the Mystic Emporium isn’t a cursed artifact—it’s boar meat. Every time I try to buy it from Aurelinwae, my PS5 throws in the towel and fully crashes. Who knew pork was so powerful?

  2. Quick Save Roulette
Saving my progress? Sometimes it’s more like rolling the dice with Mehrunes Dagon. About every other session, hitting save or load causes the game to crash. I’ve had around six surprise shutdowns so far. Not game-breaking, but definitely mood-breaking.

  3. Chameleon Shenanigans
Rocking full chameleon gear is cool—until you try to take it off. Even after removing my stealthy ensemble, I’m stuck in permanent invisibility until I do the ol' quick save/load dance. Great for sneaky aesthetics, bad for immersion.

  4. Intelligence is Power (Literally)
Want to enchant your gear with a specific attribute or skill? Better buff that brain first. Unless I repeatedly cast a Fortify Intelligence spell beforehand, the game locks me into a random enchantment choice. It's like my enchanting table has a mind of its own... and it’s not a very helpful one.

Still loving the game, bugs and all—but Bethesda, if you're reading this: maybe send a few patches through the Arcane University, yeah? 🤞🧙‍♂️

Been playing since Launch. I've also been playing Oldblivion since 2009 and its my all time favorite game. However I belive that this version still needs some improvements

  1. Mod Support: I know you said its not planned, but I belive its necessary. Not just is a Beth game without mods like a Sandwich without fillings, but Modders could help in patching and fixing issues via unoffical patch, such as armor clipping, quest fixing, crash fixing ETC. Not to mention it would lower the work load on your ends.

  2. Better level scalings: Dungeons and Caves arent super fun to play through when every monster is a Minotaur Lord, Bandit in full glass or Maurader in Daedric. Not just is it harder and not in a fun way, but it also devalues a lot of the gear. Both in Skyrim and Morrowind, things like Ebony, Glass and Daedric were really rare and felt earned when you got your hands on it. Having every bandit at level 20 be dripped out in it defeats the point and also discourgaes using older armor for a long time, despite some sets looking really nice and being great you won't be able to keep em long and will be forced to upgrade very fast.

  3. Armor varients; Closed helmets, bracers and differnt cuirasses could be cool. Like you know how you changed the Female Iron Cuirass to look more like the male one? Bring the old one back as a differnt varient AND make the male version look similar: now you have a more 'greek' like iron armor which fits the Imperial region AND you can make Bandits and others more diversivifed in their looks. Steel could also use fingered-gauntlets which would be neat.

  4. Extsenstive bug fixing; and I don't mean the funny jank but the genuinly problematic things like quest issues, spell effect problems and the menu not displaying your weapons everytime you open

Purely UI quality of life:

  1. In weapon/armor tabs: dedicated button to open the repair menu.
  2. Repair window should show what is/isnt currently equipped.
  3. Alchemy tab: dedicated button to open alchemy menu.
  4. Search filters for the "magic" menus
  5. Hand-to-Hand dmg stat used to be in the skills menu, please bring this back.
  6. Inventory tabs used to be sub-categorised (like the alchemy/potions tab separating gear/potions/poisons/ingredients from one another), please bring this back.
  7. Should be able to skip dialogue with spacebar. (WASD hand position)
  8. Mark spells as junk and hide them with an easy "hide junk" toggle.
  9. A "keyring" in the "misc" tab that contains/hides all the keys, clicking the keyring then shows/hides your keys.
  10. Mouse being near the top or bottom of a list should not autoscroll.
  11. Prefer that the tabs in the magic menu represent the schools of magic (destruction/restoration/alteration/ect), instead of the casting type (self/touch/target)
  12. Selling a LOT of things needs to be faster
  13. "not enough magicka" style messages queue up, resulting in a constant stream of backlogged messages for a LONG time. Duplicates should auto-delete.

Possibly "out of scope" suggestions:

  1. Melee got buffs (blade=bleed/weakness, blunt=shield/silence), bows buffed (quicker arrows, some arrows have better dmg, arrows dont break), and you can still enchant them! Hand-to-hand needs some love too!
  2. Armor breaks too fast at high lvls. When taking dmg, the amount that goes to your armor should be based on the % of your max HP that you lost (if an attack only deals 20% of your max HP, your armor shouldnt instantly break, regardless of how high the actual numerical dmg value was)
  3. Shield spells should also affect the fatigue loss from blocking.

Proposal:
Add procedurally generated (procgen) dungeons as a DLC anchored to Varmina’s Realm, with legendary artifacts as rewards. As a child, I remember reading an in-game book that catalogued all legendary weapons and armor, which inspired me to explore every fort and cave in search of them. This concept would:

Allow testing and conceptual reintroduction of procedural generation. Remain lore-friendly, as Varmina’s base quest already establishes the theme of manifesting dreams into reality. Provide veteran players with fresh dungeons and items to discover.
Additionally, enable the recruitment and nicknaming of marauders and similar NPCs, granting them functions akin to endgame guild companions or familiars.

This could be facilitated through the Illusion spell family, creating a temporary window for conversation where the persuasion minigame determines their acceptance/rejection of the player’s offer. Recruited NPCs could then be sent to player-owned homes and adopt the radiant behavior of NPCs associated with those areas.

I would LOVE for there to be an option at the end of dungeons to fast travel to the start so that we don't have to go all the way back. Hello Bethesda,

First of all, congratulations on the Oblivion Remastered project — it’s a real joy to see this masterpiece getting a new life!

I would like to bring up an important point that could use some improvement: the hitboxes for monsters, especially during melee attacks. At the moment, dodging feels almost pointless. Even when stepping far back, monsters (especially those using claw attacks) can still hit the player from an unrealistic distance. A simple sword swing or claw swipe should not be able to hit a target that is 10 meters away.

For a more fair and immersive combat experience, it would be great if the effective range of melee attacks could be adjusted to better match the actual animation and intent of the strike.

Thank you for your hard work and for listening to the community!

Fantastic work on this remaster! Absolutely loving it and having a lot of fun.

Just a few suggestions to consider which might improve it even more:

Quality of Life

  • Bring up player's current carry weight when looting, to enable players to see whether they have enough weight left to carry new items
  • Slow down or pause time when pulling up the quick access wheel - this would really help in combat situations
  • Dungeon cleared marker
  • Inventory sorting options (weight, value, etc.)

Horses

  • Add an option to call/whistle your horse - it would be great to be able to do this anywhere in the world
  • Add a greater sense of 'weight' to the feel of horses when riding them. They feel a bit light and floaty at present
  • Add a third-person option for horse riding
  • Enable the possibility to use weapons from horseback

Combat/Movement

  • Add in the block bash for weapons and shields - especially needed for two-handed swords and weapons
  • Review the sprint animation - as many have said, this currently looks/feels too horizontal and generally comes over as a little strange
  • Kill cam - this was a fantatsic addition to Skyrim and really elevates the combat experience

Other:

  • Consider adding the Survival Mode from Skyrim - initially a mod, this really helped add a further level of immersion for players who wanted it. It also provides more reasons to use food items and warm clothing in the game, alongsie making sleep necessary for the player. As a result, add in a camp/bedroll option which enables the player to setup camp and rest in the open/dungeon settings
  • Review the difficulty settings - just reiterating the views of others here
  • Barber to change hair and possible option to recustomise character after initial creation
  • HUD transparency or removal option

Mage Feedback

Revert the Magicka recharge system to how it was in the original game. Mainly by;

-Removing the 2 second freeze to magicka regen after casting a spell.
-Use the old magicka regen formulas. This way those who pursue large magicka pools via gear enchanting see a benefit in the form of more magicka regen per second.

The current way magicka regen works really takes away from the sense of power growth and progression the 06 game gave to mages as they increased their magicka pool, and makes combat feel more tedious for mages than fluid.

I don't get why luck takes 4 virtues to level up. It already is the worst Attribute to increase, but you used to at least be able to get +5 increases in two other stats, now not even that is the case. This game NEEDS a photomode. The new lighting inside caves and ruins makes the environments absolutely gorgeous, and the only current way to hide the hud and move the camera is console commands that permanently remove your ability to unlock achievements. An added bonus would be the screenshot loading feature from 76/starfield but that would be alot harder to implement I imagine.

When customizing my first character (khajit) I couldnt help but notice a strange grey outline for the patterns on the model. Not sure if this is a glitch but it is very noticable even when looking at the character in full body view. I think it would be neat if you could color those outlines or just get rid of them entirely. Also would love it if you could change the hair color too!

My most wanted features:

  1. Difficulty revamp/tuning - Adept is a breeze and Expert is a slog-fest, there needs to be an in-between. Something that makes both you and NPCs deadly would be nice, though tricky to balance both melee and ranged combat around this.
  2. Proper HDR support.
  3. Revamp the inventory UI so that you can see item details at a glance. Not being able to tell which soul gems are filled, or how much charge a weapon has gets frustrating quite quickly.
  4. Leveled uniques scaling with player level.
  5. General optimization and bug fixes.
  6. Mod support - the #1 feature of all Bethesda titles and essential

Nice-to-have, but not essential:

  1. Transmog system, or at least option to hide helmet
  2. Search function in inventory + spell menu
  3. Night mode UI (maybe look at popular Oldblivion mods such as Dark DarNUI for inspiration)
  4. Customizable HUD, allow resizing/moving/hiding individual elements
  5. Togglable colour filter to closer resemble the palette of the original
  6. Barber shop to change Player Character hair + facial hair.
  7. Body visible in 1st person view.

#

Oblivion has always had pretty bonkers player speed, such that high-level characters can end up being a bit hard to control (especially indoors). Maybe consider revising the player speed formula to put more of the Speed attribute bonus into Sprint speed, now that we have that, and less juice into the non-sprinting movement.

proper sandal
#

A few ideas to improve the game:

  1. Make the lighting more like the OG oblivion. Brighter. More colorful. Less grey, less hazey.

  2. More trees/plants/foliage (like walking through the woods in kcd2)

  3. Treasure maps to find valuables (like in skyrim & kcd2)

  4. Implement a marriage/spouse/romance system

pastel kernel

Co-op like dying light 2 because ESO is wack tbh

Fully controllable movement speed

Possible way to control the jump height like tap for small jump and hold for biggest jump because it’s getting stupid high.

I see a lot of people mentioning it now, but blocking and dodging is messed up because the enemies can reach and hit you from far away

Something with the combat doesn’t feel right Skyrim felt better. You’re not able to bring your shield up fast enough in this game because it’s locking you into the animations for swinging and it’s so pre determined. I should be able to bring up my shield faster and stop swinging my weapon.

Why did you take away backflips and Dodge rolling?

I would buy a new DLC with new land probably like everyone else.

Please don’t make us wait till an anniversary edition to have mod support on console.

Why did you take away backflips and rolling?

Need to do something with the weather system because the clouds just appear over your head and it starts raining and it gets dark really fast.

Let our character keep moving around when we’re bringing up the favorite wheel. Add 3 more wheels we can swap too.

We just need way more random events in the world. It feels really empty.

Why do all the character models look vegan? Because it’s easier to deal with fitting the armor on a body type like that.

Can we have a slider for muscles, weight and how tall our character is?

Bethesda is gonna have artificial intelligence go through this whole suggestion thing and it’s gonna filter everything really nice for them haha

Feedback

1. Damage Scaling with Difficulty
(Already expanded upon — no further details included here.)

2. Reinstate Max Fatigue in Melee Damage Formula
The original formula allowed players at endgame to boost base melee damage by maintaining high fatigue. Currently, even with Strength at 100, Melee skill at 100, and weapon durability at 125%, damage seems capped at around 20% of the base value. This creates an imbalance where enemies scale, but melee players have no way to keep up at higher levels. This severely limits melee viability on higher difficulty and higher levels.

  • Alternative Suggestion: Introduce a "Weakness to Normal Weapons" spell to give melee players more agency in controlling damage output.

3. Two-Handed Weapon Balance
There is a general consensus in the community that two-handed heavy swords are too slow. Comparative tests (e.g., by Reddit users) show that one-handed weapons consistently outperform them on damage output at equal skill levels.

  • Suggestion: Apply a flat 20% damage boost to two-handed swords to offset their slower speed. The intended goal is to make the experience less unpleasant, not necessarily op.

4. Blunt Weapon Perks Need Rework
Perks for blunt weapons are underwhelming compared to their blade counterparts.

  • Shield should apply to both heavy blade and blunt weapons attacks.
  • At higher skill levels, blunt weapons should also gain "Weakness to Normal Weapons" on heavy attacks.
  • The Silence perk is in my opinion useless or at least not very impactful and is outclassed by Blade’s Bleed effect.

5. Armor and Weapon Clipping / Rubber Effect
There is noticeable clipping between armor and weapons, and a “rubber armor” around the hips effect when moving. While it may be hard to fully resolve, even minor improvements would greatly enhance immersion and visual polish.

Thank you very much and to Virtuos Paris merci.

Dear Microsoft and Bethesda,

We, the fans and players from Russian-speaking countries, respectfully ask you to add official Russian language support (at least subtitles and interface) to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

The Elder Scrolls franchise has a long-standing and passionate fanbase in the Russian-speaking world. Generations of players fell in love with Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, often relying on community translations due to the absence of official Russian localization.

Now that the remastered version of Oblivion has been released, many fans were disappointed to see that Russian language support is still missing. In 2025, it is vital to include major world languages like Russian to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.

We believe that the addition of Russian subtitles and interface would be a relatively small update with a big impact—showing appreciation to a loyal and active community that has supported the Elder Scrolls series for decades.

We also kindly ask you to reconsider adding Russian localization (at least subtitles) to Starfield, which launched without it—leaving many fans feeling left behind.

Thank you for listening to your global player base.

I have a suggestion. Usually Skyrim or fallout have cinematics or animations where you finish off an enemy. I say in future patches/updates you include that into Oblivion.

Also in remastered when Uriel is assassinated it’s an animation where the mythic dawn agent grabs him and stab him in the neck. Could yall Include that as well on regular NPCs excluding creatures. I’m pretty sure everybody would love the animations assassinating and finishing off opponents with a bow or a regular duel.

-Fix Selene during the flowing bowl quest

  • enemies need their aggro detection tweaked, the arena being a great example. All enemies ignore porkchop
-Light spell effect doesn't work in 1st person
-Fix difficulty scaling, maybe import from skyrim instead
-Add survival or legendary difficulty, preferably both
-Give companions more options for performance
-Populate homes with npcs option, like having followers pause their schedule to be at our requested home for however long
-Inventory needs tabs by item type again
-Dialogue will suddenly stop mid sentence
-Can the longsword have a stab animation finisher or forward power attack? I used to run longswords exclusively, but without a cool stab I only use shortswords now. I think most people would like if weapons had that extra variety, even if on paper they're not faster or more damaging.
-Spellcrafting system won't let me apply "Fortify attribute" to my equipment. Been using black soul gems if that helps.
-Ability to modify cosmetics after leaving the sewers would be amazing
-Display cases and armor racks with fixed addition points would also be amazing.
  • Display cases in Frostcrag Spire please, I've got so many cool things just sitting in storage or on the floor/altar
  • Give spells a sneak bonus damage effect. They can still be detected upon cast as they're loud, but that initial cast having no damage bonus makes stealth mage impossible.
  • Claymore needs to be sped up slightly, and maybe also given a stab animation of some kind

I'm a long-time lover of your games—my journey started back in high school with Morrowind, and I've been hooked ever since. I’m incredibly excited at the possibility of an Oblivion remake, and I wanted to share a few thoughts that I think could really enhance the experience:

  1. Followers (Even as Microtransactions)
It gets lonely roaming Cyrodiil solo. I’d love to see a system where you can recruit or even purchase followers to join you for the journey. Example being on the Xbox market you could have follower male/female then after purchase you could customize them in game, choose class.

  2. Weapon Pickup and Replacement for NPCs
Would it be possible to have NPCs pick up new weapons if their current ones break? I'm genuinely worried Baurus is going to be out here at the Battle of Bruma throwing hands because his sword broke. Please don’t let Baurus die like that!

  3. Gear Trading with Battlehorn Castle and Knights of the Nine Allies
I think it would add a lot of depth if we could trade gear with your allies from Battlehorn Castle or the Knights of the Nine. Equipping them with better gear would make them more effective and create more of a bond with them.

The Menu would be more ergonomic classing spells by their discipline( Destruction, alteration etc,) and adding a level classification. A rebuild of the Menu and a real way to have à Quick access to it would be great. We became used to a better ergonomy and clarity.

In the Menu add a page to see the horse equipment, his HP, speed, etc would be great. As it would be great to switch from an horse to another like we do for cars in some other games (cyberpunk). Being able to Call for it with a simple whistle too.

Thank you for the remaster of one of my favorite games of all time and for opening up a channel for what I hope will result in some meaningful changes in time.

  1. Inventory management needs some massive attention. Subcategories being removed (potions, ingredients, ect) makes navigating them much more cumbersome. Also not all sortable metrics are included depending on what menu you're in (gold value might be missing from one menu depending on the container for example) which has been annoying. Lots of room for improvement overall with menus.

  2. Joystick movement sensitivity would be great instead of movement being either a toggle between walking and running.

  3. Having console commands disable achievements should be considered criminal. It's a TES game - the console is half the reason we can progress through game breaking bugs that are almost old enough to drink in the US. (Thank you modders for the means to bypass this decision, it saved my bugged main quest line)

  4. A way to instantly toggle between world and local map. Having to scroll and then click every time is terrible.

Here's a suggestion. Do a physical release that has all the content in it. If it has to be 2 discs, then fine. From what I can tell, Starfield isn't all on the disc and that's what prevented me from buying it.

Please add a difficulty similar to ghost of tsushima, where your damage is almost 5x but so is your enemies, so you have to be careful and can be killed easier but can also kill things in 3-5 attacks

I want to see a “Hearthfire” mod so you can build your own house. (Maybe rebuild Kvatch)

A new area with more new quests. Maybe Skyrim so we can see how it was there before the game Skyrim.

Hi! Here are some features that i think might enhance the experience:

  • The possibility of changing character features, leveling skills and class (after the sewer anytime in the playthrough, even with a cost in septims).

  • A Wheel of wheels. That might help to organize items, mostly during combat. It might work like this: You open the first Wheel that contains a number of choices. After you choose one, another wheel opens. So that you can create multiple personalized wheels, eachone for any eventuality.

  • A better inventory accessibility. It's very slow and messy when you have to use something from your inventory, even when you have to put away things in chests or other storages.

  • Add a few Horses Improvements: Change the enemies aggro, so that the horse is less vulnerable to attacks; Add the possibility to call your horse anywhere in the open world.

  • I think that the character editor has a lack of choices in features and colors, even body shapes. I suggest that it should also be improved generally (names and functions of the categories).

  • A better map experience: add a 'completed' mark in the dungeons you've completed; make it easier to zoom in the dungeon maps; add the possibility to put multiple marks in the map.

A lot of people are already making balancing suggestions, so I'll focus on QoL/aesthetic changes with the one post I'll make here.

  • Let PC players close menus with right click and navigate more things with WASD

  • Display total encumbrance in all loot menus

  • Make the map automatically display the local map when opened indoors or in cities

  • More map markers for discovered points of interest, purchased houses, etc.

  • Add options to adjust the crosshair and toggle hitmarkers

  • Add some different eyebrow texture presets instead of having one baked into the face texture

  • Add a beard toggle when creating Khajiit

  • Add chromatic aberration and bloom toggles

  • Add an option to remove the vignette when crouching

  • Add in-engine color grading options, like many games have. Having to fool around with ReShade as a PC player isn't ideal, and console players deserve color options too.

  • Adjust the skin textures, particularly of the bodies. It's not that rough skin is bad and I think everyone should have perfect skin, but that the skin has an uncanny amount of depth and the scale is far too large. Everyone looks like they're made out of 80 grit sandpaper.

  • Remove or adjust the spotlight that shines down on anyone you enter dialogue with. It kind of weirds me out, it's like the game is a stage play or something, it takes me right out of it.

  • Adjust the third-person sprint animation to be a little more upright.

  • Darken the tunnel to the Black Door, add the red glow and creepy audio back, and fix the lore discrepancy with the number of people depicted on the door. This is one of the most iconic and memorable places/moments in Elder Scrolls. Young me got scared and turned my Xbox off when I got to this door.

ASAP:
-difficulty tuning (ridiculous jump between adept and expert) - ideally custom difficulty option with incoming/outhking damage multiplier sliders
-pausing the game during dialogue/cutscenes
-ability to remap all buttons on controller

Essential QOL:
-menus/maps remember last selected item/position
-repair window shows equiped items
-better store items functionality in containers
-haggle from your inventory window in barter
-remove selected ingredients from their slots, not the list in alchemy window
keychain

  • cancel bow draw
  • make frenzy spell actually change the npc attack target to (they still keep attacking you in my experience)
  • easier acces to local map
  • better inventory sorting (c'mon, that is a element of a base game that nobody likes: atleast potions and books submenus
  • more quickslots and maybe a slowed time when the slots menu pops?
  • add increments in "selecting quantity windows

WOULD BE COOL BUT NOT THAT IMPORTANT NOW/WASN'T IN A BASE GAME EITHER:
-better books interface (animated pages/more fonts)
-controller stick based movement speed (not just walk/run options)

  • location CLEARED tag
  • change hair/beard option
  • option to change timescale would be super cool
  • photo mode/hide UI option
  • option to turn off way markers, since we have that cool clairvoyant spell

GRAPHICS:

  • fix crazy UE5 lightning loading on entering new cells
  • set screen space reflections to custom, bigger fov, so that edges of the screen don't go without them (no idea how this works)
  • lower brightness in dungeons
  • fix weird "line" going through the sun across the horizon (not sure if it isn't local problem on ps5 somehow)
  • possibility of a "classic lightning" option, more saturated and less brown tint like the original game had

Greetings!

Thanks for making Oblivion Remastered. I've been enjoying the game. Still, I have some suggestions which I believe could make the game better:

  • Item level scaling should be fixed so it doesn't punish players for completing quests early. Maybe introduce a vendor which upgrades items to your current level?
  • Player character leveling feels too fast. Either make only major skills count toward leveling, or fix the enemy scaling and leveled loot lists so that tougher enemies and more powerful loot start appearing much later.
  • Enemy level scaling sours the experience. Having all lower level enemies utterly disappear from the game as you level up, while facing only bandits in glass armor is very frustrating. I suggest implementing something akin to Skyrim's enemy scaling, which strikes a good balance between keeping variety and becoming gradually more powerful.
  • Improve NPC level scaling. In certain quests, such as Kvatch, if you do them at high level all the friendly NPCs get almost instantly obliterated by the more powerful enemies.
  • The local map being tied to the world map through zoom-in is very annoying in my opinion. These should be separate interfaces.
  • The difficulty slider does not succeed at providing a "just right" difficulty. I suggest giving the player the ability to adjust the damage dealt and damage taken modifiers individually and separately.
  • Give the player an option to remove friendly fire.
  • Create an NPC that allows players to alter their appearance after character creation, like the sculptor woman that was added to Skyrim.
  • Give the player an option to hide their helmet (or other headwear).
  • Consider creating an "appearance tab", where players can make their weapons and armor take the appearance of other items while keeping the stats of the equipped item.
  • Completed dungeons in the world map should be marked as so.

Thanks for your work in this great game!

Dear Bethesda Team,

As a long-time fan of The Elder Scrolls series, I’d like to first thank you for the incredible worlds you’ve created. Oblivion holds a special place in the hearts of many players around the world, and the prospect of a remastered version is exciting.

With this in mind, I would like to respectfully suggest that if a remaster of Oblivion is in development or consideration, it should include full voiceover support in additional languages, particularly French and Spanish. These are two of the most widely spoken languages among your player base, and offering localized voice acting would make the experience more immersive and accessible for a global audience.

The original game had impressive voice work, but it was limited in language options. A remaster presents a valuable opportunity to expand on this and show renewed dedication to inclusivity and international fans. Many players from French- and Spanish-speaking regions would deeply appreciate being able to enjoy the narrative and dialogue in their native languages—just as English-speaking players have always been able to.

Thank you for your time and continued commitment to storytelling and innovation in gaming.

Warm regards,

Placing objects in your home needs a good looking into, it’s 10x harder than the original game to place a weapon in a display case. Books are impossible to set on a shelf. I’d love an option to just interact with a bookshelf and load it with books via menu (Skyrim has this, right?)

Also the object physics seems a little bugged, I’ve entered a lot of shops and houses only to have books and vases go flying off the shelves the second I load in

Menu tabs should have split sections with the function to expand or close out so you only see the parts you need:
Weapons: blade, blunt, bow, arrow, staff
Armor: jewely, helm, body, legs, hands, boots
Alchemy: tools, potions, ingredients
Misc: tools (hammers, lockpicks, soulgems, wellkynds stones), scrolls, valuables, keys
Spells: split by category

I am loving the game so far but there are some opportunities for improvement. In no particular order I'd like to see the following enhancements:

  1. Please do something about leveled quest rewards. I feel obligated to grind my level before doing certain quests so I don't water down a potentially good item. Either fixed at max or some sort of scaling mechanism as you level up would be ideal.

  2. Improved audio for magic-Combat sounds decent enough but magic is pretty outdated. It's kind of underwhelming to launch a fireball and just get a little whoosh sound.

  3. Killcams and/or Animated Finishing Blows-Might be a stretch but with the Emperor's death being animated, it would seem possible.

  4. Horse Whistle-I never used horses in Oblivion because I'd wander too far. Something to recall would make them more practical.

  5. Alchemy crashes-I noticed myself and several others have has crashes when making potions. Seems more frequent with stolen ingredients. This is on Xbox SX.

  6. More spell effects-I always like variety. At least raise undead spell would be nice. I know there's a staff but it would be nice to have it in spell form too.

Hello again! Here are more suggestions

  • I suggest implementing a larger hotbar; allow us to map spells and items to modifiers such as Shift+1. As it stands, the current hotbar with only 8 bindings is far too limiting.

  • Another useful change would be to give the players an option to remove all the fast travel markers at the start of the playthrough. Make it so at the start you must explore the world and reach cities by foot!

  • When finishing an Oblivion gate, let us select which enchantments we want for the sigil stone. Otherwise players just have to repeatedly load saves until we get just what we want.

  • Make it so that Oblivion gates remain available after finishing the main quest. It may not make sense from a story perspective, but it is important for gameplay, as it ensures you retain access to sigil stones!

  • This may be a bit off-topic, as this is not a bug report forum, but there are some minor visual issues which I'm not sure actually count as bugs, so I'll list them here: Argonians and Khajiit lose their tails with certain armor types, and the character model in the inventory screen does not consistently show the weapons you have equipped.

Thanks again!

Bring Ragdoll effects back! You know how when you would jump off the throat of the world and after dying would continue to ragdoll and go flying hilariously into the nearest village or crevice? Absolutely loved that effect and it needs to come back.

15hrs in and I love it.

All I want to hear able to do is delete old spells to keep from your magicka tab from bloating. For example, please let me delete “Open Easy Lock.” It’s used like 8 times.

The only other immediate need is fixing the map. Please let us toggle back and forth between local and world without scrolling. And if the map could remember that it was in local when you last closed it that would be even more helpful.

Fix the armor where it doesn’t look like it’s elastic around the waist of our characters.

Make it more dark and gritty it’s a game about hell on earth you’re kind of making it for snowflakes and little kids - that’s what ESO is for.

Winches in the taverns, bar fights, more singing and yelling the whole world needs more of an atmosphere.

Random events like solar eclipse, comet strikes and storms ☄️ town parties, weddings and something like random attacks on the town at night from vampires.

Fix the armor where it doesn’t look like it’s elastic around the waist of our characters.

Bring back more of the elder scrolls hairstyles.

Let us interact more with dead enemies like picking them up more to throw them off a cliff and being able to shoot them in the head with an arrow? Why did you take that away from us?

I think something very very important you guys should realize in this game AND ES6 ——— rated M for mature that means 17 years old plus to play stop being so soft

The ability to move while accessing Shortcuts or pausing combat/slow motion.

Also 4 Shortcut wheels would be nice allowing the player to access 32 total slots. These could be hotkeyed to the D-Pad. Pausing combat would then be the ideal choice since the player would need to move his thumb off the Analog Stick for movement.

Hey, here are my suggestions:

  1. An alternate, resized HUD mode with the following changes: Smaller/thin compass, no opaque box behind floating text, way smaller status effect HUD, ect.

  2. **An alternate lighting mode which preserves the contrast and color of the original game's visual design. **This one is incredibly important, and whilst modders have found clunky workarounds with unofficial tools like ReShade, console players should not be forced to deal with a low-contrast, colorless image. I think this is the biggest issue with the game's visual redesign, and detracts so much from the general ambiance of the world.

  3. The re-addition of organized inventory categories. It's odd that this was taken out from the original game, as it simply makes navigating for items more confusing than it was originally; keys clutter misc, potions and poisons are in the same category, ect.

  4. Fixes to general physics issues (such as the lack of hit impacts in first-person, the instability of physics props when loading a cell, ect.)

  5. General graphical improvements to Lumen Skylight values (shadows appear unnaturally weak in many lighting conditions), Screen-space Reflections (intense artifacting around foreground objects), and a general reduction on the game's fog values in clear weather conditions.

  6. A reversal on some of the gameplay changes, at least optionally: Toggleable regenerating health out-of-combat, Silver weapons as a requirement to damage ghosts.

  7. In addition, some new optional toggles that help iron out the unpopular edges of the original game: less strict enemy loot and scaling (approximate rarity values, rather than sudden and ubiquitous appearance of the new leveled enemies and items.) The option to upgrade existing, scaled unique items, so that rare items can stay useful for longer. The ability for low-level enemies to continue spawning outside of dungeons, ect.

Thank you for your consideration.

As a long-time fan of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, I’d like to share a few suggestions that I believe could greatly enhance the experience for many players:

Please consider adding official support for mods.

Please add Russian language support, including both subtitles and voice-over.

Improvements to the in-game map would also be highly appreciated.

Thank you for continuing to support your classic titles. Oblivion remains a beloved game for many fans around the world, and these updates would make it even more accessible and enjoyable.

Atronach sign is a great way to add some depth to the gameplay side, but the always-on mana bar (if not 100%) is highly annoying. We don’t need to know our mana count outside of battle, as it takes away from immersion to see that damn bar 24/7.

The Remaster is gorgeous! It runs great on my system so far too!

My only downside with the game is a lack of formal mod support.
Mods are what take Bethesda games from being great to being legendary.

It creates such a great community and extends the games lifespan tremendously.

There are still people modding the original Doom.

Please Bethesda, add official modding tools. You have such a great opportunity to make the Oblivion Remaster the next Skyrim for modding. It would be such a missed opportunity if you don't
