3 tricks for clean grip cuts, file the edge of your board with the tape applied to get your cut line and soften the grip, use as small of a blade as you can, cut from one end to the other, you'll always pull a straighter cut when you start at full arms length and pull towards you ntm you'll have minimal scraps once you can get it in one clean pass
