yeah my trucks are hella tight and i want to make them looser but i dont have the tools to do so. I'll have to get some
gotta get a skate tool, most useful ~£5 you’ll ever spend
yep i was looking on amazon
I need help with 50-50s on curbs whenever i ollie onto the curb my front truck is on the curb but not the back. Whenever I try to stall not moving, both trucks are on the curb. What am I doing wrong?
assuming you're approaching the curb at a bit of an angle, make an effort to turn your body when you ollie so the board can straighten itself with the curb. i find it helps a lot to approach the curb with some speed, it kinda "forces" the back truck to get on. your trucks will slide nicely as well
thanks so much, manualed a sidewalk today and 50's seem like the next way up
@thorny pivot If you want a cheap complete check sierra I was able to buy an element for 39.99 had to change out the trucks but pretty sweet deal. Had no idea they sold skateboards
hello. im really new to skating, whats the best trick to learn as a beginner?
Ollie then pop shuvit
thanks
I watched a lot of skate videos back in the day and just watched where people put their feet doing flat ground tricks
cool ig
Riding and pushing around without feeling like you want to jump off
this is the real answers, first tricks are all the basics, riding and stopping, grabbing your board from floor, hoping on it, kick turn and reverse. THEN shuv or olli.
The other day i had a dream i believe was gifted by aaron kyro of me olliing a curb so im attempting but i cant land on my board when i ollie up the curb
I will continue to attempt but i have never been able to ollie up a curb despite knowing how to ollie
I can land with one foot
It sucks being old, I want to skate but I’m too sore from skating 2 days ago
I just learned how to get on my board 😎😎
that’s impossible
first you gotta learn how to get off your couch
then you gotta learn how to go outside
very hard things to accomplish
for a lot of people apparently
I can’t touch grass more than two times a week, then I turn into a zombie
good you’re just hurrying up the process
Almost just landed my first 360 front shuv and I have no idea how
I just ordered a primitive board
I used to skate a baker and a local shop one but it broke so I ordered a primitive one, it's a collaboration board with Tupac on his moto
I landed a 1800 on vert
i got my first speed wobble yesterday
did you died?
yes, am now dead
too bad
my first wobble i nearly break my wrist, i was bombing a hill on a penny when i have this though "what if a car is coming from the angle" then wobble wooble wobble
and that is how i broke my shoulder
On a 7.5 board (which i never skate) i just didnt stop until i hit the floor
Id love to post the xray but thats defo nsfw lol
outch i did elongate my wrist tho (3month pain) but that manageable. you otherwise...
should i get thunder, ace or indy for street skating?
I’m not too sure specifically for street skating, but when I was heavy into skating for about 8 years or so I only ever skated Indy’s because i loved them so much, if that helps lol definitely can vouch for them!
Even now when I skate casually, I have them on my current board
cool! i don't really have a skatepark so i'm forced to skate street
what indys?
(what model)
I always just got the standard silver ones, never got fancy. I mean I wasn’t doing like crazy grinds down 8 stair hand rails or anything hardcore like that they so they worked just fine for me lol
If you’re just skating street stuff (flat ground, curbs, etc) those would be just fine
I run indy lights. Hollow axle makes for lighter trucks. But they are still super strong.
Thunder lights or hollow lights are good too. I just break thunder hollow lights after all the impact skating
That’s the difference between me and you, I wasn’t out here breaking trucks 😂 I liked skating baby obstacles, being nice and close to the ground lmao
Im heavy footed tbf. I broke a kingpin doing a rock and roll
Big facts
or do i just get the good old stage 11 indys?
Yeah Indy’s are great, they have been all I’ve used for the majority of the time I’ve been skating
I feel so close to doing a shuv it yet so far
I get one foot on the board when i land it moving but my back foot is delayed cuz i lose balance a bit
And 180s just feel weird as hell
stopped skateboarding since covid, think im gonna get back into it.
Its nice and cool today in indiana
But im still super sweaty
If i sent shuv it footy would you guys send me crit
Shoulders
Or foot
They should be level with the board
Guys i think i made a shuv it
Back foot still lagging a bit but yea
i had the same problem
backwards btw
backside or frontside
rotate your front foot
kinda like a kickflip
but not that much
an keep your shoulders above your board
which is rotating towards my back
you have to counter it
so it will be more like a heelflip then?
i will have to send a pic to you
yo i just learned an ollie. not really something but eh im kinda proud of myself
anybody got tips for getting over the mental blocking I'm experiencing? I know I can ollie and shove-it but my brain is telling me not to lift my back foot up
valid
whats the weirdest thing you saw in skate parks?
My skateboard is arriving friday
Im excited
idk how to ride one but im gonna learn when i get it
4 girls riding one scooter
congrat \o/
do you guys think 144 indies is too small for a 8.25 deck?
144’s are perfect for an 8.25 deck
... Dang lmao
Loads of kids started gaping in my nans face after her having lung cancer so that wa smthing
Vaping
Ey so I've been trying get down kickflips for the past couple of months, I got the flick down and landed a couple but most of the time the board doesn't stay under me. Anyone have advice?
any tips for someone getting back into skateboarding after like a 5 year long break where u didnt touch a board for those 5 years
Just try to ride and ride and ride until your muscles catch up with the muscle memory. Then try to be fancy
Could someone give me crit on my shuvit in #irl-skate-videos-and-clips
aight most of its coming back but damm my knee isnt what it used to be
Keep it slow. I jumped back in too fast and made that mistake lol
Just remembered one. There was these 2 kids who were smoking behind the bathroom building trying to hide it but didnt hide it very well
Like they looked like they were like 10 💀
Also my skateboard is arriving tommorow :D
Also if ur wondering why i was at a skatepark at that time since ive never skated before it was because me and some friends were recording stuff for a school project and nobody was at the skatepark so
Someone smearing plaster randomly in the bowl
I got my skateboard but dont know how to turn while riding
I still cant even ride without grabbing onto somethinf since its my first time
It's in the lean/ankles
But lean to ride without holding on I think it's the first step
Do you have protective gear? I'd say a helmet and wrist guards are probably a must. I've also taken to using elbow and knee pads, 'cause I'm too old to get hurt in preventable ways. 😄
I found that wearing the gear tends to help curb the fear factor.
Ye i dont have any gear
It helps a lot. Makes the prospect of falling way less scary.
Probably have an old helment from when i was younger but idk if it fits me still or not
Also, learning how to fall properly (because you will, it's inevitable) is also key.
But yeah, helmet is a must, I'd say. I know a lot of you don't wear any gear, but brain damage isn't funny and can't just be shaken off like some other injuries. /soapbox 🙂
Depending on how old the helmet is, I wouldn't trust it
Yeah. Better off finding a good one. Lots of choices out there, depending on the cash you want to spend.
And just how hard core you're going to skate. 😄
don't forget to learn how to stop or bail out properly after you get your balance right
Ok
Just had my first time falling off a skateboard cuz i panicked for no reason at all lmao
It happens sometimes. Especially on a smaller board. Less stable base makes it easier to bite it.
It'll get better as your muscles get used to the feeling and you know what you are doing better
I recently went up a very small ramp for first time in (cough cough some number of) years and completely wiped out because my brain at the last second totally discarded what I knew I should do. 😄
Me: Okay, so we're going to stay perpendicular to the ramp and board, right?
Brain: Yup.
Me: Not going to freak out and try to stand perpendicular to the ground, right?
Brain: Got it.
Me: Ramp's coming... ready? ... For real?
Brain: OMG WE'RE GOING TO TIP OVER, STAND UP STRAIGHT!
And, fall as the board goes shooting away from the ramp. 😄
I was doing it on the porch cuz no concrete
litterally all i could think in my head was just controller disconected
😄
I would like to add, I have not fallen from or on a ramp since then. But it had been [censored] number of years, so I'm going to be kind to myself for that first one back.
Lol
what trick do I learn after varials
i just got my first board today!
show it man
Congrats
yall how tf do i catch my kickflips i flick and i cant catch 😭
Guys I was practicing front 180's today and ooommmggggg I got them so clean now
Pop reslly hard and keep your shoulders square so your board stay under you
After that it's all about the commitment to just landing both feet on there
I just started being able to actually land kickflips not too long ago and that was my issue with the catch
Wow.
Today I got my first skateboard and then i went to a skate party
learned how to ride a bit
and then learned to ollie in one day
ngl i hate breaking in new boards
What kind of boards do you get that need to be broken in? Or do you mean the trucks?
does anyone know how the twenty seven inch cruiser handles downhill? ordered one and im hoping itll be better than my normal skateboard
Depends on a lot of things really. Hard to say without knowing your setup. But most boards for downhill riding (genre of longboarding) are around 36in-43in long for stability. Along with wider trucks and bigger wheels.
Trucks and wheels are a hung factor in downhill ability/stability.
Just putting bigger/softer wheels on your normal board will make downhill easier.
Welcome to the rabbit hole lol
okay, thankyou!
front 180s i got them but like im too scared to land them
i cant commit the back foot and that was my issue with shuvits for so long
also i gotta learn to pop higher man twice the pop twice the spots
once i unlock that pop soooo many ledges i want to 50-50 i can 50-50
and im gonna try and do stairsets i can jump off some pretty big ones just scared to skate em
No
You got it man, mind over matter, just tell ypurself to commit and dl ot
who here hates mongo
switch mongo is ok id say, a lot more ppl nowadays are pushing mongo switch
but if you're pushing mongo regs??? ❌
Cops push mongo
Learn all the push stances, learn skogging, become unstoppable
Skogging?
An efficient way to combine skating and jogging for long distance travel to minimize fatigue of pushing with one foot. Its kinda fun to do the switch kick variation since it switches your stance every time you do it
Example: https://youtu.be/GKA1lw4GsCg
LDP - Long Distance Pumping
Skogging and switch push
=================
You'd like to tip me ?
https://utip.io/panta
Inward heel flip of hard flip
Is a skateboard worth to buy i am honestly considering
yo whats good
a very biased place to ask, but yes, if you’ve been considering it for a while then you should definitely get one
Ok i might aswell tbh
if you’re not too sure if you wanna buy one look at complete skateboards, they’re a little cheaper and “entry-level”
I'm still gonna wait I'm not gonna rush in just to find out it isn't for me
i don’t blame you, don’t worry about it
by flicking rs??? duh
it was a joke bruv
Well, just got some great news
Ripped all the muscles and tendons in my left foot
With special thanks to the drunk driving F*ck that hit me
are cruiser boards looked badly upon in the skating community?
Not that I'm aware of
RIP💀 hope you're doing well
Oh, dang. Very sorry to hear it.
Only by weak posers. But they try to look down on everyone, so you're golden.
yo are moldy skateboards still okay to ride
my oldest brother gave me his first skateboard and it’s a bit moldy from being in his garage for years
Where's the mold?
griptape i think
i don’t remember i haven’t looked at it for months
moldy griptape?
idk bro it had green spots
Nothing with actual mold is safe
sooo i guess i won’t use that board
i have another board
it’s like 20 years old, my mom used it when she was younger
You could always peal the grip tape off, but hearing about the mold makes me think the deck was kept in a humid environment making it soggy and the wood questionable. The trucks might be salvageable though
it was kept in his garage
i still got another board that is super old, no mold though
First week back skating and I’ve already torn a ligament in my wrist from bailing off my board
Jeez man hope you’re good
thats tough dude sorry to hear that
I’m all good thanks it’s just a bummer
Yea I don’t really like the wheels on most boards
so some long boards can have the same wheels as penny boards
tricks are meh for long boards
But I kinda wanna try tricks which are not very possible on penny
i mean u can tiger claw but :/
Can’t I get the same wheels on a regular board?
try getting a 8.5 and look into soft wheels
it really depends
Idk what that means
sry so get a board (size 8.5) and look into different types of wheels
But also my problem is portability
Oh ok
I love 8" + 55mm
8.5 is normal
8.25 is best
Also don’t like wide boards but I live with it I learn
8.75 :)
I got a sex skateboards 8.25 deck, pretty clean icl
I a flip guy, so less = more flips lol
then prolly try 8.25
Ok thx
@eternal verge just posted a bs tail in the irl skate vids channel lol
8.25 perfect for street IMO
idk my friend gave it to me and idk how to tell measurments 💀
I can't remember if I ever used a 8.25
I used to skate zoo York but moved to sex instead
i just moved up from 8.25 to 8.38, prob gonna get 8.5 next
I think so
Doesn’t mean I won’t skate another zoo York board
wont lie
rn i have a habitat board with venture trucks and bones wheels and bearings
man ive been skating 15 years and still cant 50 50 a flatbar. didnt have one anywhere near growing up and now i just suck at skating rails
and a nice kickflip on a 8.5 feels reaaaaaaaaaaaaal nice
damn really?
growing up in vancouver guess i didnt realize
yeah, closest skateable flatbar was about 2 hours from where i lived
gross
all i really can do are boardslides and lipslides lol, someone just put a flatbar at my local tho so im probably gonna start trying some new stuff soon
I used to skate when I was younger tbf, although my uncle who used to skate ended up breaking the board, it was a bad Amazon one though
i just started skating
yo that’s awesome
ty
stick with it bro, most fun thing you can do lol
alr
fr its so fun and on your journey you can even find people who you can skate with, stick to it, it’s the most eventful and funnest thing, it’s a good exercise too
all my day 1 homies quit by now but im still meeting new people to skate with, even if theyre a little younger lol
im glad im starting rn and not later tho
How old are you if you dont mind me asking?
almost 16
oh rad! thats when the most fun times with the homies happen lmao
yea 💀
i started when i was 11, but didnt meet anyone to skate with til i was like 15 or 16
I’ve only found my group like 2 months ago and it’s been so fun tbh
i wanted to get into it when i was 8 but couldnt even stand on the board so i thought i didnt have the coordination to do it
ah man thats unfortunate, just takes some practice
yo that’s great!
ty
Dope! try practicing by ollieing up curbs or over upside down boards. itll help you build confidence and height 🙂
alr alr
I still need to learn to Ollie on concrete
if you can do it on grass or carpet you got it on concrete for sure
The skatepark I live near doesn’t have any good flat concrete it’s just slanted which is harder, I used to be able to but I tried dropping in and sprained my left ankle which is my sliding foot
well I stayed in for a week and got back on my board
alr so not to bad
I am uploading a lakai demo video to YT from this past weekend 👍
I’m genuinely hyped to go out skating tomorrow but where I live has really bad roads and paths, especially skateparks too
I’m learning how to skate, anyone have any tips?
practice practice practice
basically
Don’t push mongo, it’s a bad habit that’s harder to shake when you start to progress
learn how to run and jump on ur board
I would NEVER mongo push. Wouldn’t wanna do anything that would disappoint coach Frank
That’s what I’m trying to get comfortable with rn. I’m working on getting my trucks tightened to my preference so they aren’t so tight that I can barely turn but aren’t wobbly when I jump
i cant do it yet 💀 im trying but my trucks are all the way loose
how to front board
?
It’s so hard to get them evenly tightened man
s l o w l y . . .
Even if I turn them the same amount and stuff they’re completely different
It’s a cheap board, they might have different bushings tbh lol
very likely
Look into softer bushings if you have a hard time turning when you want to, and look into harder bushings if even after tightening, the board feels too squishy
Bushings change the feel and you don't risk over tightening and destroying the set you already have, or the nut unscrewing on you trying to make them too lose
I think I’m gonna get new trucks, wheels, and bearings tbh. Change everything except the board. I’ll probably paint the board as well
Don't be afraid to fall and honestly, get a feel of what it's like to push opposite of your dominant hand
Many naturally already push opposite from their dominant hand as their stance
Go slow, get comfortable on the board and riding around before really trying anything else like tricks if you want a good balanced foundation
another thing: PLEASE don't blow your budget on parts until you know what you're looking for
definitely this. remember the only things you truly need to start with are the actual skateboard (who would’ve thought) and a skate tool
and a helmet
just in case
and definitely a helmet
these
better to break just your arm than to break your arm and head
ouch
And in that case some slide gloves/wrist guards might be a good option to consider as well
yes
also some good skate shoes would be a big plus
I'm sure you have a wrench and a Phillips #2 screwdriver somewhere though
nah im not even 18 tho so
You don't own or have access to any tools? Do people not have tool kits around?
not really no
i5ts fine ill get some soon
i cant skate up here till i get a helmet 😔
yes
How long has everyone here been skating? And been playing skateboarding games?
I’ve been playing the skate franchise since I was 6 and I’ve been skating for half the year!
Skating since I was 9ish and playing since Tony Hawk pro skate demo pizza hut disc
Wow that's a wild throwback
I remember that disc, it had multiple other games on it too but I just played THPS1 and I think Crash Bandicoot game
I remember super monkey ball and Spyro too I think
SMB does sound familiar for sure
wasnt there a metal gear solid demo on it too or was that a seperate thing
Been skating irl since I was 7ish, so almost 20 years. And played tony hawk pro skater when I was 5-6 I think so about the same. Most of my life which is crazy to think
hey i was struggle with the kickflips like 7 months ago, when im going to flip the board it just flip too much like a double flip, anyone can help me? i pot my foot behind de bolts.
What up skate fam 💪
o/
Gotta love skateboarding ❤️🔥
hey yall
Around 15 years. Loosing track the older I get 🤣
ahahaha
what your best trick
I'm a fan doing ghetto birds. But I got a pretty strong bag of tricks
i havent heard a ghetto bird in so long
Still goes hard
mine is a hard flip
you're telling me you can skate this board?
you’re telling me somebody gripped this tape?
Skateboards are apparently not acknowledged as a bag on flights lmao
is it just hand luggage?
I have mostly good experiences bringing boards on flights. Just try to get a board bag and they're much cooler about it
I've always just carried mine on no problem.
Just walked on with it? That is wild
Yeah I've done it about 6 times this year. All on American flights if that matters
I have actually never tried it, but you never had issues taking it through security?
None whatsoever.
Wow that's incredible
I got absolutely wrecked in Rome for my skateboard
They made me check it in as oversized-baggage I was bummed
Does your carry on have straps you can clip it too? I've heard that helps out a lot of it's "attached" to the bag
Or wear it between your backpack and body vertically to act like it's a carrier
I have straps on the side of my backpack that I attach it to. The issue came when I tried to run my carry on through the Xrays at security. I got through 12/14 flights in my recent trip with my board with no issues
For whatever reason Rome and Budapest airport did not let me run it through the XRay and sent me straight to check in
I had a bag like that 12 years ago and took my longboard to Tokyo.
SO ANNOYING having to remove it and re-attach it through security.
I'm by poughkeepsie! Don't skate much anymore because of work kicks my butt, but I still like to noodle every once in a while!
I still keep a board in my trunk though, I don't think that'll ever change
@late night we can continue here
Alpha Flip is a big hospital flip, aka bs varial hospital flip
wait
that might actually be what ur looking for
Alpha flip (big spin hospital flip) in Tawapa. Nov 2007
okay yes, this is exactly it. but the difference is that he’s rotating it around his front foot like a hospital flip, front foot impossible’s rotation around ur foot is in the opposite direction
that IS a fs 180 front foot trick but it might not quite be an impossible
yeah ok
hmm I'm not sure what that truck would be
I think it's unnamed
TRUCK stop saying truck, I mean trick*
my keyboard is stuck on some specific typos too XDD
and yeah i think it might be unnamed
That would actually sound pretty good.
if i land this irl im calling it that thank you XDD
yuh
@stiff raptor we've decided it is unnamed since we've found nothing for it
am I allowed to ping him? will I die?
So now we need to name it.
say ur prayers 🙏
I said a toki flip bc tokirumi was searching for it
@polar shale I told you to ping me, bud. No worries.
cool cool
That’s a dope name.
I agree.
yea I just kinda thought "a variation on their tag would be cool" and saw two distinct things in their name. thought rumi flip wasn't a cool as toki flip
exactly what it needs since you're kicking around the front foot
Bro that’s so true. Everything makes sense now
badabing badaboom
I was looking for the answer but we had it all along
The real treasure was the friends we made along the way.
That’s the true finding. Maybe I was fated to find a friend after all hahaha
🤝
if i land this trick one day i’ll show you my dear friend 🤝
And we shall name it the toki flip
Or Tuki for both our tags
{Toski flip, Tuski flip, Tuki flip, Toki flip
nah bro just naming it is enough
i’ve already accepted the challenge. I can already do front foot impossibles irl, i learned it not long ago. adding a 180 might be possible
it's very possible
if you can kick the board one way for an alpha flip, you can kick it the other for a toki flip
just gotta grind it out fs
Heya. Anyone know the best way to strap a skateboard to a backpack?
Either have a backpack that has skateboard straps. If thats not an option are you carrying it or are you having the bag and board transported?
I'm carrying it rn. The way I'm doing it currently is putting a truck through the small strap at the bottom of the arm strap and it hurts my shoulder and leg, and probably gonna cause my bag to break
I didn't know you could get a bag with skateboard straps
'back in my day' it was just put through the shoulder straps between your back and backpack , just be careful in narrow places or cycling past people 😂
Yeppp i do this too
You can have the trucks facing outwards at the top where the straps are. So the griptapw side could also be vertical and against your back. If you dont mind scuffed clothes haha
None of my clothes look good anyway so it's not like it matters too much lol
I'll give it a try next time I have my board
Would defo recommend a bag with velco straps tho for future
Depending on how wide your bag or waist are, either trucks either side of bag or your waist, it'll get you to skatepark no problem
Ive had the same nike sb bag for like 7 years now. Its had the board strapped to it and hauled so much stuff like skate stuff, water and even shopping
I used to ride BMX upto skatepark, skateboard between bag and skates stuff inside, proper skatepark rat
I've never actually been to a skatepark yet
Takes way too long to get to one. The nearest is probably a 30 minute walk
That's closer than mine and I used to go every day after school, I now work 5 min drive from it and occasionally go down on lunch breaks
Thats a defo "back in my day" moment. Id always walk everywhere just to go skate
Fair enough. Just hearing that makes me wanna get up and stop being lazy, I feel bad for saying it's too far now lol
I'm definitely bringing my friend though, not confident enough to go on my own
Honestly skating is the one place you can do that
The fun part is in UK, it was the look outside window on weekend mornings to see if it was dry then guess if the skatepark would be too
Ok maybe not only one
Screaming at the clouds to clear off so it stays dry
Uk gang
I remember walking past a skate park as a kid and seeing the bowls with a massive puddle at the bottom
Yeah even damp is a killer on concrete bowls
:(
Painted too
Heatwave in UK now, right? Won't be damp right now lol
Absolutely
Its 32 (93 ish) rn
For me at least
Not as hot as before but yeah its toasty. Im stuck with early skate sessions only before it gets too hot
This is probably the first time I've gone to holiday and it be cooler here than England
Yeah, I'm way too unfit to go skatepark in this heat😂
Im sweating just thinking about it
I sweat a lot anyways, think johnny layton levels of sweat
But yea its been crazy
In the last heatwave this year I made the mistake of skating to college in 34° (something like that) heat
Yeah im thankful its not 40 again
That was absolute torture
Even walking around, the heat reflecting off the ground
No chance i would skate in that
I think my wheels would melt if I tried skating in that with how hot the concrete would be
I take it that you do more park skating than street skating?
These days yea
I sucked at street.
BMX was park, inline was park&street (pitchforks down please) skateboarding was park and occasionally some street but I could never do rails.
Streets of london arent kind to old men with destroyed legs from skating over the years
Sketchy spots dont do it for me anymore
I've got every single pad under the sun now and never used then before, for exactly those sketchy places, what was nice smooth concrete before is all nasty broken ground now
Ah fair enough
I can mostly skate on roads because the pavements near mine are a death sentence
Also why I can't do this heat, padded shorts, shin and other pads and a lid is very sweaty even before I do anything 😁
Just hearing that makes me sweat
Feel like proper old fogey at skatepark now too, wouldn't be so bad if I could actually do what I could before, I try, but end up on my arse
Shoveits are death for some reason
Basic safety trick before now board just gets yeeted into some poor kids path
i went out for a cruise at around 5-7pm yesterday and i was sweating buckets. definitely not good heat whatsoever
Total meltdown
I just got into this skateboard thing, my bearings broke down, could you recommend some?
☹️
they are from spitfire right?
No, they are Bones
Uh, thx!
I’ve got bones super reds on my baker deck
Just rolled my ankle & skated on it for another hour folks
thats the way to do it
Ay where would I get a spitfire deck they look so fire
Spitfire is not a skateboard company
Damn I saw a spitfire deck and they looked so cool
They may have collaborated with someone. If I recall they did a girl skateboards collab deck but there are probably not too many you'll find around
Maybe you are mistaking the brand for something else- where did you see it?
What type of skating do you do most? Park or street?
If your streets are rougher like mine are, I’d go with 52-54s and like a 99a with whatever brand you get. Just from experience, my street deck had 52s and 99a wheels and it rides pretty alright for how messed up the streets are in my town. If you cruise a lot I’d get softer wheels unless your roads are pretty smooth
I’ve heard really good things about Bones STFs, I don’t exactly remember what is on mine atm, it’s been a while since I’ve had the time to pick up my board
They’re in the price range of most spitfires I think. I think wheels are the hardest thing to pick tbh because they vary so much
Yea my streets have hella cracks and stuff and the last time I went flying from a small ass pebble which is why I kinda wanted to change my wheels
😭💀
If you find yourself falling from pebbles when riding to different spots, I’d get a second set of crustier wheels, it’s a pain in the arse having to change them a bunch but it beats getting road rash from a fruity pebble lmao
Just get bigger wheels to zoom over cracks and pebbles. 56-58mm works perfectly
That's why you get a cruiser setup as a separate board
Fair, but sometimes that’s not financially feasible, so I assume people try and save where they can
could always save around $50 on the board and instead keep a spare set of trucks with softer wheels, but it does seem kind of annoying having to carry around pairs of trucks for the park and cruising
that’s why the backpack was invented
when thomas j. backpack tried to put his trucks in his pocket
speaking of cruiser and park wheels, what are you go to’s for both?
i like the 54mm 86a ricta clouds for cruising
What’s good
skateboard
I agree
If you have a good pair of trucks use them again but if you grind even one down probably go for a new set
words of wisdom
guys today i just got to meet braille skateboard guys at the skatepark
they signed my board
Sick did you mention that you're professional skateboarder Aaron kyro from the San Francisco Bay area
Does anyone else feel like they have ankles made of rubber? I swear every time I land on it I just bounce back up.
look steezier by crouching everytime you land
What @wicked dew said. Also, what kinds of wheels are you riding?
Front shuv is the scariest trick end of story
im not him hes just doing a tour with everyone
no way how
Legit no idea I’ve only ever done a few, I can kickflip way easier than I can front shuv
Nah
I can’t do a front shiv yet but there are tricks scarier than a front shuv
And anybody else here fingerboard
?
You mean tech decks? Heck yeah
Yeah but I use an actual wooden fingerboard
Nope
Yeah
I don't have any actual fingerboards like that but I collect the other ones
Tech decks, tbh some are more for looks than using them but I do use some of them lol
Nice lol
when you learn more tricks you will see many are scarier haha
your slide should be starting much sooner than mid-air
I can do a lot already & front shuvs are my scariest trick
I can consistently get Hardflips closer than I can front shuvs and I do not know why since they’re similar
Body mechanic wise, it's easier to kick back than front. And the hardflip has a little more guidance with the front foot working so I can definitely see that being easier
you are a maniac hahaha
Ik bro I hate it bc front shuvs look so good
I mean you just tagged me here so
Apparently there are some legendary snake runs from the 70’s that are buried
Indiana Bones movie in the making.

anyone in the North Carolina/ Forsyth county area know of any good spots or parks
does anyone know any good spots in essex or suffolk
but like easy spots i just started
easiest spot you can find yourself is a flat piece of concrete
enough space to roll back and forth and pop an ollie or two
good luck finding flat ground that isn’t a car park in the uk
sometimes the hardest skating conditions create the best skaters
Parking garage late at night
Usually lights, smooth pavement, curbs, manny pads. And you can often get an hour or two in before getting kicked out.
very true, but literally any pavement in england made before 2016 is literally medieval era paving
cool but what if im 13 and skating for a week
true
Big facts.
I took a trip to England/Scotland and skating the pavement there was actually so difficult bc it was so crunchy
Yo, just snapped my board learning the fingerflip (gotta be honest Birdhouse really did not impress me), any1 got recommendations for good decks without breaking the bank? Thinking Powel but not sure
i like real decks because they can hold my fatass pretty well
hey is this the right place to talk about the hockey x vid or is there a different channel
I love my Real board. It feels solid but still has excellent pop.
Imma check Real out, cheers o/
my real board was my first board coming back into skating
fellow real fan
Same! I also have a blind complete that's just for screwing around, but the Real is the one I built myself. Way better components and such a good ride.
Ayo I need a little advice
I really enjoyed my Last Day deck at 200lbs
I've been trying to get my kickflips down, I got my flicks down but I can't keep the board straight under me. It always goes to the right ot left. I can get my back foot on most the time but never my front.
Lasted so much longer than the tactics blanks I was buying previously
I've tried changing the way I flick the board but nothing helps
real make nice boards. i’ll post a new pic of it in #irl-skate-pics it’s still pretty nice but i haven’t skated it for a long time to really ruin it, just slight scrapes on the tail and nose
Hey do you think I should start skating I have a board and all just no skateparks around me
Yea street skating is perfectly fine, just in the future when you get better you might wanna envest into some skate wax for grinds
yeah don’t even let the lack of parks put you off, there’s definitely places to skate
an area of smooth flat concrete is pretty much all you need
is there absolutely no skateparks near you?
Thanks and There is but it’s like a five minute drive I’m gonna try get used to riding on my board for a week or two just so I’m comfortable on it
Hi
i don’t blame you for wanting to get comfortable. just don’t rush the start or you might form a bad habit

skate shoe talk
what are your go to skate shoes
osiris d3 2001
all the way
i got 2 pairs and intend to get more, takes a bit to get used to how chunky they are but the moment you do theyre the most comfortable shoe youll ever feel
converse has good boardfeel imo
which?
i think its called cons storrow ox or sm
Just saw this. Gotta go with vans or Emerica
Lakais. Even if they dont last long if you do a lot of flip tricks/hills
Nike sb for lasting a little longer. I skate portmores.
vans are a bit expensive but theyre good shoes ye
vans and nike sb are pretty similar in price now
nike sb are having a sale right now
has anyone tried the ishod wair nikes? they look pretty cool but i want a comfy shoe too
I get em for the low I used to ride flow for them in H.S.
I just landed my first tre flip today
That's awesome!
That would be sweet.
Half-cab
i love half cabs so much that i have a pair for work
I cop a new pair every summer. They’re durable enough for a season and I like the padding.
So I'm My first week of Learning to skate, and I'm currently learning to push, kick turn, stop, etc. etc. In terms of pushing, I'm focusing on Practicing balancing on one foot and doing the pushing motion along with rocking my entire body. I'm not 100% sure on how my feet are mean't to be positioned, but as of now, I ride goofy, and my front foot is on the top bolts while my rear foot is in the pocket of the tail/below the bottom bolts. Should I change anything, or keep practicing what Im doing now? I'm a Day 2.
ate Shet now my a$$ hurts
keep practicing what your doing
Will do, thanks!
Front foot pointed forward while pushing. Rotate back to perpendicular once getting into your skate stance.
You’ll get accustomed to doing it in one fluid motion when transitioning between positions with time.
yo, just wondering but why is my skateboard so slow?
I just got new bearings and when I push it slows down fast
bones reds
have you done a little test where you just see how freely your bearings spin with the wheels?
honestly i couldn’t tell you what’s wrong with them
sorry man
i used to have this weird bearing problem where the shield would try to go inwards towards the bearing balls
thought it could’ve been that
If anyone has videos/pics they want edited lmk
same sometimes id take out my shields and bam the spin was better
might do the same if it happens again
Day 3 of learning to skate: Pushing
I've made good progress so far, I am about 60% comfortable on the board, still working on my balance. I've discovered that I need to tighten the trucks, because the board wobbles around 10 mph, and the board I've been using hasn't been used in a while; parts are loose. I've found a freshly paved segment of road that is smooth enough for me to push around. I plan on practicing Pushing, stopping, kick turns, etc. for the rest of the week, then I'll see how I am from there. No injuries today surprisingly, but my ankles are a bit sore from the ride home on the rough asphalt. I'll keep y'all updated with my progress in the coming days! I'm having a blast, so I'd say that im doing something right.
great stuff man. as long as you’re having fun, you’re gonna make progress. always remember that skating is supposed to be fun and not a chore
Exactly, Thanks!
what kind of board do you have and how old is it?
Ill send A picture
nice
I put in in the pics channel
would any of you know some good beginner completes i could get online in the uk?
there are no local skate shops near me sadly 👎👎👎
pretty sure skatehut do some good completes
would u know any specifically ?
Hi
i’d say my price range is below 80
i’ll have a look for you now. if i had to give just a basic guideline for buying completes go for the reputable brands
How do you play skate early
ok thanks 🙏🙏
?
i’d go ask in #general-discussion
what kind of size board are you looking for?
i’m 5’10 ~ so i’d assume around 8.0
How big are yo feat homie
Uk ya?
mhm
have you rode before
feet and height don’t always matter with board size, it’s just preference really. 8.0 to 8.5 would be a pretty good range though
no
ah then yeah i agree with nadan. A bigger surface gonna get you more comfy on the board
i used to scooter a little when i was like 12 but i never got past getting a tailwhip
I like 8.25 personally size 10.
i like an 8.25 and i’m a size 10.5 uk
^
8,25 is a good median in choice of future boards
if you think 8 25 to wide then go down if to small go up to .5
its rough cuz if you want a solid board will prob be more than what your asking. But i know amazon does do some good prices and deals
Even as a starter board
i can go higher
i remember a website that used to let you create your own complete board
if i find it i’ll drop the name
^ theres a few i believe?
i think it could be skate warehouse
are you wanting more a cruiser board or full on skate?
pretty sure the shipping to uk from skate warehouse is high
skate
there’s a uk version too
there is a uk skatewarehose
Skatewarehouse is the UK's leading independent online skate shop. 30 Years of skateboard experience, friendly service, 1000's of skateboard products to choose from: Complete Skateboards, Skateboard Decks, Skateboard Trucks, Skateboard Wheels, Skateboard Bearings, Longboards, Stunt Scooters & more. FREE UK DELIVERY!
they got some pretty huge sales going on it seems with there venom decks
oh okay
so your still thinkin an 8.0?
8.0 to 8.25 would probably be perfect since it just provides that wider riding surface and flexibility
^
yeah probably
do you have any board brands in mind that you like?
just because having a cool board means you feel good skating it
might even get special kickflip powers
most of there prebuilts they got there are venoms
there truck kit specs seem pretty the asme over all the boards so find the size and art you grove with my man
I love this lol https://www.skatewarehouse.co.uk/products/flip-penny-sun-orange-x-venom-skateboards-custom-complete-skateboard-8-25
This board was made on 7 plies of the best hard rock maple, in a medium concave shape.Flip Skateboards | Sworn To Fun Since '91Construction - 7 Ply hard rock Maple, Medium Concave Truck Kit Spec: • 1 x Pair of 5.5" Venom Core Raw Trucks • 1 x Set of Venom Logo 52mm 99a Wheels • 1 x Set of Venom ABEC 11 Bearings • 1 x S
right now i’m not too bothered on brands just because i want to learn how to skate first, if i get into it properly i would then focus on things like that
I feel that
Then yeah this site has pretty like well rounded stuff and pretty much same all around.
true
i just finished setting my new deck up. got some OJ 58a's and my other deck got them OJ 99a's
I landed a kickflip the other day
with the bronson speed g3s
oooo im loving it. Howd you feel? Just got new shoes and my flips have been feeling slicky. was it your first?
what shoes did you get?
thanks for the help guys 🙏
got a new pair of busenits pros
Not my first, but first in a long ass time.. My mom threw away my board in moving then I fractured my collarbone, and now my dad just got me a new one
yes! how did it go?
They have been my go to lately
nice mate thats dope
I posted the clip in #irl-skate-videos-and-clips
Thanks
I just managed to cop andys flight deck the other day at my skateshop
so cant wait to set that up
skate warehouse sometimes lets you choose the brands you want for trucks and other things
Trucks are pretty universal ya?
I havent seen much difference except from longboarding to cruiser shpaes
ya nadan look up the slim jim cruiser. it has an art piece that looks like johnny bravo and its perfect
i’ll probably ask again before i buy my board , i’m waiting until after i get my gcse results
i found it. it’s called a custom complete skateboard kit. you can choose the parts, choose whether or not they build it for you and grip the deck
let’s just hope you get a bunch of 9s so you can buy yourself a pretty good board
fr bro
only subjects i see myself getting a 9s is comp science and geography
Bro my board is a 7.5 I used to be an 8.25 it’s so weird
hows it feel?
My buddy went down about the same and he said his kick flips went off the walls
technically i’m on my second board but it feels like my first board because i haven’t skated in over 6 years. it’s weird because i’m pretty much a beginner but not
I feel that
i pushed mongo for a long time. but once i wanted to learn tricks i forced my self into pushing goofy.
can you skate regular but mongo?
that’s fine if you skate mongo switch
yeah i just change it for set ups
skateboar d
Anyone want some editing??? Hmu
Yeah that'll be decent for a beginner board
Anything half decent is a good beginner board. 8” - 8.25” is a good size unless you have huge feet.
If you have a local skateshop they’ll often have $80-$100 setups with good quality trucks and wheels on a shop board.
I wouldn’t purchase a single-branded complete if you can avoid it
Local shops can help you put together a setup with quality components
sick
As I was saying, the penny board is too small for me
@polar shadow How tall are you?
Thanks. Was googling conversion. LOL
Hahaha
Here's a decent resource to start with: https://autonomyskateboards.com/pages/board-size-finder

If youre just planning to cruise you should probably get a mini longboard
Anyways, I would like something for cruising more than tricks
Ah.
I got the Sector Nine Chamber Vortex - it's a "mini" longboard, double kingpin cruiser that rocks.
There's nothing like the feeling of the wind blasting through your hair as you carve down to the beach. It's even better when you've got that beach all to yourself on a secluded island, free from emails, work, tourists and obligations. Now imagine what that feeling looks like... and you've got the new Tropic Teak Colle
And the grip tape situation, is there any grip tapes that don't shred your shoes as much?
Sick
The graphic - I'm getting it tattooed because it matches a necklace my wife gave me 14 years ago. So it's like the universe was speaking to me to get this board. 🙂
Thats cool i just have some maui wowie walmart board for that lol
Depends on the shoes you're using - most grip tape isn't diamond encrusted. lol
The Vortex's tape is solid, enough grip with enough give to slide your feet without turning the bottoms of your shoes into slippers.

@stiff raptor @winter monolith thank you so much you two, I appreciate the help!!
Always. And glad you're here!
Unfortunately, most of these items I'll be ordering online which I'm pretty sure it's gon a burn a hole in my wallet but oh well
Nearest skate shop to me is like 600 kilometers away
Check Amazon. Lots of stuff there that can help reduce the cost.
That's 370 miles for yk who
👍
I live in a place that isn't really skate friendly, I rarely see skaters around here
Start the TREND!
And the skate parks situation...
I'll let this pic speak for itself
That's my childhood story in a nutshell. 😄
And I was pre-YouTube, so I had to learn everything on my own and from watching movies, lol.
Oh wait no pic perms, basically there was a park back in 2008 with nothing on it, just flat ground and some skaters installed some rails but the city removed them because apparently rails are too dangerous for skating???
But believe! You can do it!
Doh
SKATEBOARDING IS NOT A CRIME!
I intend to do so, I saw my neighbors teen on a skateboard just yesterday, I'd like to build the community back again
But I wanna be a bad girl!
HAHAHA
concrete waves with nothing on them lmfaoo
Because from my research online it seems there used to be a community here, but I don't know what happened to them
Maybe they got old and boring? 😁
They got tired of being harassed by the cops and squares, probably. Grew up and moved on.
I've seen it happen. We gotta keep the sport and dream alive.
Probably, this EYT website i found had its latest post on 2015, and the pics attached were of people in their late 20s I guess?
Even tho skating has no age i figured they've outgrown their skating phase
Getting bothered by cops nowadays (at the age of 44):
Them: Hey, no skateboarding here.
Me: It's a public sidewalk, there's no law against being on the sidewalk, and my taxes pay for it. I don't have kids, but my taxes pay for schools, so .... skate here on the sidewalk or go take over the school playground.
lol
@stiff raptor wanna know how I got into skating? Its a bit funny not gonna lie
Share the tale!
People grow up, have kids, and suddenly the possibility of breaking a bone seems way higher risk than before.
And we heal slower. But I won't ever stop. Even started riding motorcycles (my wife made me increase my life insurance policy "just in case". LOL)
Lol. Smart woman.
(I doubled hers too. "just in case" LMAO)
I was so disappointed
I can imagine
And yeah now I have this chunk of plastic in my room that I don't even know how to ride
So I'm gonna buy a bigger board and try again
This small penny board is like way too small for me, my shoe size is a women's 10.5
Penny boards are super difficult for a first board, for sure.
I figured it'd be perfect for cruising to school, then I can just hook it to the back of my backpack
I used mine through university just because it was small, and I didn't have to lock it up like a bike. But it wasn't easy.
How did you carry it around the university?
Strapped it to my backpack.
Grip tape side??
Because I chose the plastic board mainly because of its lack of grip tape
There's no grip tape on a Penny board, yeah.
But with my popsicle board, I strap it on, wheels facing outward usually.
Speaking of popsicle boards
If it's secure, it shouldn't cause much damage, but you can easily strap it on the other way, too.
My uncle asked of me to clean up a house he recently bought, I found the cheapest toy board ever
I mean, depending on your bag, I suppose.
Like its unrideable, I tried to
The deck alone is the length and width of my shoe 💀
Even a baby can't skate it
But I took it anyways for my cat 😈
Anyways I'll go check out the links above
Good luck!
does anyone know if longboarding or skateboarding is better
I believe it depends on your style
ah
If you like tricks then you like skateboarding
im guessing longboarding is mainly for cruising
Nooo, don’t buy skate stuff on Amazon
I personally prefer to just go around twon with my board so the guys here suggested I get a longboard
fair i like it
I skateboarded for 12 years, before destroying my knee in the Caribbean on an inactive volcano.
Been riding longboards since.
Speaking of that, what do you think of this? @stiff raptor https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/Sector9-BAMBINO-COMBO-Longboard-Complete/dp/B08Y3RHNL2/ref=lp_19981747031_1_1
YES.
It's sector9
been skating for 3
Been longboarding for almost 20 years. Riding Sector 9 exclusively for 13.
Oh, you’re not stateside
damn man
whats going on skaters?
boards
I got my Chamber Vortex from Amazon - but directly from the Sector Nine section. No resellers.
did anyone skate today?
I just like supporting local shops
30 minutes this morning between calls while walking my dog.
40 for me
Absolutely, I go to local shops for bearings, clothes, gear, tools - and I drop off skate. skateboard decks when I do.
nice guys just cruising?
ye
Always just cruisin'.
There is a lot of crap on Amazon for skate stuff (even potentially dangerous quality levels) but there're also a lot of high quality reputable brands there too that are worth taking a look
I’m more in the mindset of supporting local vs quality of product.
For sure. And if you don't have a local skateshop, going through Amazon is better than getting a piece of 1x4 with old rollerskates attached. LOL
There’s terrible product everywhere, even locally
Of course. Not everyone has a local shop, though.
try skatehut
But local shops are the best to chat, hang out, etc.
Yeah, I’m starting to learn that. Skating has been huge in my area forever, so it’s hard to remind myself that skate deserts exist
My local shop barely has any longboard gear and the other option is a Zumiez, so most of my longboard gear I order from muirskate, everything else is amazon
IT'S A TRAGEDY!
yeah i forgot about a skatepark
@stiff raptor just saved this dumbass @mystic scroll from getting scammed
nice nice whats your set up
i dont think i've asked
wish i was in america
He wanted to buy an enuff board from this 600 kilometers skate shop i told you about, the board he wanted from the shop was like 200 dollars, I found it on Amazon for waaaaay cheaper
Same board
🇺🇲
enjoi for life
Same my guy
So, I have a 2011 Sector 9 Sand Wedge (last year of their production - RIP) with Nine Balls and drop-through Gullwing Sidewinders II. Since it's a "classic", it hangs on my wall except when I want to carve all over the road. (~42" long)
Daily riding is on my Sector 9 Chamber Vortex (wife bought it for me for my bday in May) with Nine Balls and drop-through Gullwing Sidewinders II. (~37" long with a lil tail)
dude you got some sweet setups man i used to have a sand wedge
my cruiser board is a loaded dervish
i just like skate. games
had it since 2008
i need a dance board
I also have pintail - I don't ride it often - it's pretty flat so it has a weird feel (to me). Put some Nine Balls on it, but since it doesn't have drop through trucks, the turning is a little less than I'm used to. It's great to bomb hills though, unless I want to turn. LMAO
a homie of mine modded his so it could use drop through trucks it was weird but hey he made it work...gotta give credit to the guy
I want to - but ... mmm. sketch. Not wanting to faceplant when the trucks bust through LMAO
That’s not very irl
What’s the appeal there? I’ve always thought it looked ugly.
mainly dancing
Not for me, but to each their own.
i can do one move on my pintail
Seems lacking in the adrenaline department
yeah true
I can’t gatekeep though, skating is skating
but if you mix it up with tricks it looks dope
Seems tough to pop a dance board
want like ollie
Yeah
im right there with ya
i need to learn no complys
same
i got damn near all footplants tho
hard on a board that looks like a surf board
well kinda haha
very true
i do all my tricking on a regular skate deck
boneless looks cool
understandable
boneless over a gap chefs kiss
once seen a guy backflip on a ramp
i commend vert skaters
They are masochists
The pintail have rkp trucks or reg street trucks?
You see Lizzie Armanto get wrecked on the mega?
no
yeah that
I think that’s the essence of my joy in skating
Landing something and knowing I didn’t get hospitalized
i would never do it
If there’s no risk, it’s not as enjoyable imo
daamn that was hectic
She took it like a champ. Back to skating already
making me feel small not gonna lie
bro what if super ultra mega park existed
There would be more skating-based casualties
same
Y’all snowboard?
You’ve got a fridge over there I think
And maybe a dry slope
fridge mountain
used to
i hear france and italy got the best place for snowboarding
Yeah, you’ve got several indoor snowboard locations
oh wtf i had no idea this wasn’t #general-discussion my bad
Absolutely not comparable to a mountain, but better than nothing.
I’m just trolling lol
indoor is not a fun as it seems
It’s only good for park riding
It doesn’t seem fun at all otherwise
is snowboarding easier if you already ride a skate or longboard
Nah
You’re more comfortable making attempts and falling
But the actual motions aren’t related enough to translate super well.
funky ride over a pebble
Just the confidence of being on a board
nice
Are Casper flips cool or nah? I like them a lot.
Been one of those holdover tricks from middle school
I only skate 7-ply popsicles so weight isn’t too much an issue
