I believe in an interview that Cuz did, he (probably, or someone from the team, but it was a written interview with him) they pitched the idea of a new Skate to EA so, they most likely have more control over it. Sure, EA might interfere from time to time to see what's up obviously but I'm sure they'll have the right vision and make the right decisions, even if it's F2P, but hey that's just me, so please don't go after me 🙏
