I did a LOT of ranked play, and trying to figure out the coolest ways to get a sick line. But I'd also go glitch hunting to see what silliness I could get myself into. Most of my play time though was spent in the park creator though honestly. I liked seeing what kind of mega-monstrosities I could come up with but still have them work like an actual skate park

I'll honestly say, I feel the controls make a huge difference for people too. I grew up on TH games, started with THPS3 and then moved onto THUG 2 and Proving Ground. When Skate. came out with the flick-it controls, I was immediately in love because I preferred how that felt over just pushing buttons. Felt more immersive for me. That's why I've also seen some people saying they prefer Skater XL or something over Skate, because even though the controls are similar, they're just different enough be able to form an actual preference

Well, they can still be compared. As a whole they're still the same genre, skating games. realism vs arcade is just one of the preference points. Like the controls, map design, story progression, ect. At the end of the day it's all subjective and completely based on what YOU prefer out of your games. It's really only a problem to start comparing them if you're gonna start legit trashing on the games and players for not being the one you like

#1 we don't know that the mechanics are done. I imagine theyre very far considering black box's original method for producing skate 1 of working on physics and mechanics first and prototyping a lot, not to mention they're building off of the already existing flick it system. however it looks like they're implementing a lot more in the parkour aspect and off board stuff in the game
#2 textures and optimization can take a while especially if they want to release it on the switch(that release could come later since it's a much weaker console)
#3 they are saying themselves that it's very early in development

im guessing it's coming out IN 2023 but we don't know yet, we won't until the 14th, and we don't even know if they'll release that info or not.

Yeah, a huge thing to keep in mind is that this is the 4th Skate. game, there's a lot of features that have been HEAVILY requested since day 1, longboards included. So far, we only know a handful of requests that they're meeting, but that doesn't mean we know all of them. That could actually be a huge reason it's been so long since the initial announcement before we finally got to see some actual groundwork. All we can do for now is wait and see. This is undoubtedly going to be the biggest game yet, so they could go CRAZY with it

I actually just noticed something while watching your video. A couple people here were talking about "I hope there's some kind of animation for your character getting up after falling instead of just teleporting to a standing position" and in the trailer you can actually watch someone go from face down on the ground to actually working on getting themselves back up. I'm glad you slowed the trailer down in some parts because it's easier for me to pick out certain details lol

Games dont want to do that though because it takes the control away from the player for a brief moment

all you really do is run up to the ramp before the telport thing comes up

where you press it and then you go flying its the same way as you do it normally as well
