Fun fact: game companies and hardware companies aren't always concerned about channel size.
OBVIOUSLY, big channels can help put out some stuff to a lot of people, but more and more companies look at the community you have grown around your channel/content, your social presence, and your fit with the brand. Authenticity, realness, and good content matter.

From working with content creators for about 7 years, I can tell you - I'll take someone with a growing channel (I don't use the term "small streamer" or "small youtuber") who will dive into the project/game for the long haul, over someone who pulls insane numbers and is a one-shot deal. I like building those relationships and facilitating growth. But that's just me. Of course, it's a mix in this world of gaming so you get all sorts of creators to work with.

Wow, the way I've always seen it is that they typically just promote the game to bigger creators so more people see it, but from reading this, I guess it isn't really like that.

I mean, these are things I've read and seen from successful folks and folks that had to "go back to the drawing board".

First, it's all about your community. Why?
Well, they will be with you from the beginning and they will help drive the tone, attitude, and health of the community you build around your personal brand/channel.
So make sure you start out with the community you want - and enforce rules when necessary to keep it that way. Find good mods and build relationships with folks currently doing it.
Listen to what folks say, but not everything that works with that person will work for you.
Play what you want. Seriously. If you about having fun, playing a game "for the views" isn't for you. Yeah, there's tons of games that will get great numbers, but they're also flooded with TONS of other creators. It's okay to be niche. Some of the best communities are with niche gamers.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your platforms. If you make YouTube videos, clip them up and throw that on TikTok and IG and Twitter.
This also applies to games. I've had countless conversations with creators who played the same game for 5-9 years, and want to switch things up, but they're paralyzed by the fear that their community will abandon them. Don't be a one-trick pony. (UNLESS YOU WANT THAT - but be aware, at some time, folks' interest may fade. Have a back-up plan or pepper in other games through your regular programming. Test the waters with new titles and OG titles. See what resonates with your viewers and keep that in your pocket.)

Invest in your equipment, but don't think you need to go into debt to get started. (This can be facilitated by reaching out to hardware manufacturers' partner program teams and seeing what you can do to get some gear.)

Be professional when you're talking to companies. You don't have to write emails like you're wearing a suit-and-tie, but for the love of all that is good in the world, make sure you keep an eye on your inbox and reply. Look, if you get offered an opportunity that you don't think is right for you at the time, just say no. When people ignore those outreach emails, those emails stop coming. Most good influencer/content creator teams already identified someone for outreach via hours of watching their content, reading their social feed. They wanted to talk to YOU.
Oh yeah - if you want opportunities, don't make it difficult to find out how to get ahold of you. Email accounts are free. Create one. Throw it in your bio. Use it for CONTACT ONLY. AND CHECK IT REGULARLY.

Honestly, content creation requires some of the hardest work if you want to be successful. It requires knowledge in VFX, GFX, marketing (i.e., knowing what's trending and how to format content to modern standards), acting/theatre (i.e., putting on a character for videos), technical writing, and brand coordination. What I'd recommend is to start slow (i.e., don't take it too seriously) and see if you enjoy doing it over the first few months. If you do, then you can start taking it more seriously.

If you start with comparing your content to other creators who have been producing content for years, most of the time your content will be worse, and that can cause severe burnout.

This is what I mean when I say "don't take it too seriously"

I want to say as someone who has helped multiple people in middle school / freshman in high school who tried to become youtube content creators, it's DEFINITELY helpful to start early but your stuff will get better as you get older

good judgement will affect the quality of your content and that will come with 1. brain development and 2. experience

I think I like skate 3's art style better but it doesn't mask the game's graphical flaws as well as skate 2's post processing effects

but skate 2's post processing effects make the game run like ass on PS3 so I have a grudge against its artstyle for that reason

I am hoping that for the next game they go for Skate 3's level of colorfulness but make it look fancy as well, which for sure will be possible on the frostbite engine and with modern hardware

But, the chromatic aberration and other blurry ass postprocessing effects was a bit over the top, and sucked performance

Love the clearer picture in skate 3 but the textures were a bit lackluster even for its time.
