Couple of things. I think people drastically under appreciate how easy it is to earn that.

Considering it’s basically what you get for doing your daily task which takes less than 5 minutes most days.

I don’t think it’s really gated in that sense.

But at the same time - because of that - it’s almost a “why did you even do this” kinda argument.
It’s so quick to earn the chips, why even have the requirement.

My gripe really is that paid skate passes get early access. It’s a silly move to make it seem the pass is worth it because people have said it doesn’t offer enough.

The game is already in early access for testing. Don’t make it so paid players test content faster. 😅

I’m in favor of this. The shop is so barebones. There’s a handful of items each week. If you can’t log in for a few days, you could miss out on something you might actually want- and chances are it won’t come back to the rotation for weeks or months. Unless it’s Vans, which are legally required to be in the shop every day.

I’d rather just be able to pick up a generic hoodie or shirt or (dare I say) socks whenever I want instead of waiting months for them to come back around.

Yeah. They are testing how much they need to put in the pass in order for people to buy it. Right now it’s Grom. Next season it could be an SLS type event. Pass players get early access to the competitions. After that it could be something else.

There will always be a lot of people who won’t buy the pass no matter what because it’s strictly cosmetics. So they changed that.

The tutorial island is going to make a return. Old heads feel like they were promised free-to-play game where you never had to pay anything to access new areas. Access to Grom is locked behind a daily pass that you get with free currency AKA rip chips. If you are on the premium pass, you can access the island whenever you want. Personally, I feel like this is pretty gentle monetization but a lot of people are freaking out about it.

Maybe in season 0 people were too angry. Season 1 got off to a bad start and personally as a content streamer I continued with Skate. as long as I could. With the last two weeks in this game, they have completely destroyed all trust with the one group who has the right to be angry. The founders, the people who have been here trying to shape this into what it SHOULD be. The surveys they put out have been bugged, I’ve filed reports and begged to be allowed to complete at least one survey but here we are, less than a month before season 3 and my input has not been received.

It is understandable when baseless criticism gets removed, but as a community we have been gaslit into either tolerating what we were promised would not come, or become an outlier and laughed at for uninstalling.

yeah, idk how they make this work well if they are also going to expand to the brickswitch boxes. At that point, its an optional thing for players to either "go play a potentially more interesting part of the map" or "unlock boxes" but you can't have both.

artificial scarcity and its lame to split the player base to say they can't go skate with their friends if they accidently spend some rip chips

also, you may not even be able to do the tasks to get enough rip chips if they don't fix the task bugs.... having to relog and it still not register is crazy to be a multi-month problem

I don't even remember the Isle of Grom, I just tried to make an alt to go there lol. People are mad they aren't listening but the roadmap has what people have been screaming in here for months - return to tutorial island and possibly legacy skate 1-3 spots... its just about how they deliver it

true - grab grinds, also a lot of other things like further board customization (loose, tight trucks/etc). More board shapes is 100% something I've seen mentioned in here in the past. I know its different teams working on different things but they gotta improve a lot of the social mechanics still. Kinda cool to see something like meetups on there among the turn based modes

if they can get advanced manual stuff like primos in the game somehow way down the line, that'll be cool

Very bitter community.. they think they know it all.. but in reality skateboarding is a dying sport... its up to us the community regardless of whatever ya'll believe to keep skating alive.. skateboarding is all that matters in a skateboarding game.. people are getting lost in the sauce of greed n wanting more n more..
