That's a fair enough feeling, though I don't enjoy progression systems, so I don't play games for that... I just like certain gameplay loops, and skate's loop of hitting steezy lines and sharing clips with friends is fun to me. I'm just glad to be done leveling. The game is still as fun as ever to me because progression adds nothing for me.

(The endgame progression imo is pushing the limits of what you can physically do with your fingers-brain [the gray matter that makes fingers do finger stuff], and that's just a lot more fun to me than any numerical progression system. I appreciate the depth of gameplay that offers so many levels of difficult things to try. Imo, not enough games have such mechanically interesting gameplay. Too many games focus mostly on numerical progression, whereas the personal kind is all that interests me.)

Welcome to the games industry, you do get used to it. I blame Bethesda and the horse armor personally, but if you want real blame then 2000s South Korean f2p MMOs and mobile gaming are to blame for the current state of gaming.

I imagine gaming peaked in late 2000s or very early 2010s pre GTA Online. Since then it's been plummeting as they introduce "dark patterns" to manipulate people to spend on MTX. I super suggest checking out "dark patterns." If you have ADHD, South Park actually did a really decent and succinct explanation of how they work

Skate 3 has no progression after beating the main story and people still loved playing it. Skate was always about the gameplay not the leveling up or career mode

Oh yeah the game in general is fun to freeskate around, I still do it a lot and build DIYs with people, I have a good 260 hours on steam since release, and obviously only a small portion of that was spent on challenges. But I would like actual things to do. I wont film clips because theres no keyframes And the map is nothing incredible. Besides freeskating I find myself just doing challenges for the sake of it each day

They where literally voted "worst company in america" in 2012 and 2013. Which started in the 2000s. If I remember right, it was for 2 main reasons. Their EA Sports titles had a monopoly on actual team franchises in games and then they would release yearly with no changes beyond roster (easily done with updates online, for instance I would burN updates to a cd and install them onto my Xbox) and would charge full price for them. This was multiple sports like football, college football, fifa, hockey, boxing, etc.

The other was how they handled updates. Skate. bricking the game when they update it is very on par for EA. I remember the og Battlefield 2, everytime they would fix one bug, multiple game breaking ones would appear. Its like they do absolutely no QA before pushing game updates.

There were other reasons I can't remember details of, these where just the ones that I personally remember. Oh and they where buying up smaller game studios and closing them to destroy competition if I remember right.

Idk some of those suggestions are "don't push updates that break mission progress" which I think would be a better call than "staying the course" if the course involves not fixing mission progress for months. I think there's a middle-ground where they improve quality control and ignore certain poorly considered suggestions that would have drastically improved the launch.

Tbh this game does have fairly problematic issues that are extraordinary. Idr ever having any friends or acquaintances who were softlocked for months in Fortnite... That said, I love the core gameplay, but I don't think the mass frustration is all that surprising. I suspect many of the devs behind the scenes could have predicted this easily, but the schedule was the schedule.

Nah I am just mentioning it because it had a similar arc... A few important things missing at launch, they didn't get added for over six months, population dropped to the thousands by the time they started cleaning things up... Rumbleverse was eventually shutdown permanently, presumably because of disappointment among its investors at Epic Games who wanted it to be MUCH bigger for the annual investment they were making. I think it would be wise for any game that doesn't want to share its fate to listen better and act faster on widespread, strongly felt community feedback.

For sure, staggered rollout is common, but it only works when the roadmap is clear and the promises line up with what players see. Right now features keep getting delayed, communication feels inconsistent, and trust is low so the “wait for the next season”approach doesnt reassure people. Especially after waiting for 15 years and seeing how much better the game looked 2 years ago. Players would be way more patient if the plan felt solid instead of shifting all the time

It truly was a hilarious and awesomely fun game. Literally all of my friends liked it; one of the biggest things that kept us out was just being unable to coop together (hint hint), in Rumbleverse's case because they only had Trios for the longest time and we would prioritize games with squads.

Also, iirc, you couldn't add friends at launch in Rumbleverse. Very, very bad oversight to skip such a crucial social feature at launch. We had to use external tools to add each other and it was very tedious.

Season 1 added things yeah, but people are talking about the bigger picture. A lot of core features the old game had are still missing, so it feels less like an evolution and more like starting over. Thats why players are on edge, when a series steps backward, they expect faster progress or clearer direction

I think it's just about how many regular players they can get, and whether that is a sufficiently large multiple of whatever they need to spend on necessary game staff to justify continued funding when investors compare it to other places they can put their money.

Something a lot of people forget is that companies don't just want live service games to be profitable. If they can think of a different way to invest money that is likely to be (or will obviously be) more profitable, they'll move their money to that.

Legitimately, it was one of the most fresh breaths of air in the Battle Royale genre when it released. It was unique, it was absolutely hilarious, and most importantly…It was Fun!

I actually just participated in a community event, "Krazy World, " where they filled a server that had over 70 players staking different spots all coordinated through a Discord. Probably one of the coolest community events I've participated in for this game. We picked out large areas, rotated every so often, built things together, built giant couch walls, vert ramps, and just had fun as a group.

theres simply not enough to do YET, season 2 will have gamemodes coming and more options to keep people playing, but the only thing that will kill this game, is if people lose hope, if people give off a toxic vibe when being in community spaces, if the shop doesnt have cool enough items (the game needs funding yk?) and last but not least, if there isnt anything to keep you playing, and if it doesn't come fast enough- thats when it dies

i dont think youre remembering the skate 3 map fully, we had super ultra mega park, Dans hawaiian dream, Construction Dam, Double bridge gap, red skate park, contest skate park, so many places you can just plop down and have a fun time skating, in this new map there no notable locations besides parking garage into church ramp, this game lacks so much that older skate games had even when it comes to tricks, boards, player customization, classic goofy artstyle, genuinly if i wanted a realistic skate sim ill player skaterXL or Sesh, skate is meant to be goofy and have a good time, this game lacks that even when it comes to challenges, wheres hall of meat? wheres deathrace? wheres everything fun and unique and not a cash grab?

i do think a good portion of the complaints though are people who want to do big insane and they're not even really trying to Skate..party up with friends and skate

i never had issues with lack of content in XL, the game just is what it is and you still get full lobbies of people hanging out and skating, with Skate and seeing how the gameplay is I'm not unsatisfied enough to rage at the game,the core gameplay is beautiful

Not hating on the people who say there’s nothing to do but, I’ve noticed that there’s not a lot of people trying anything other than hitting the popular spots a billion times over 🤷🏽. I’ve set up so many cool things and have skated them for hours where as players will come up to my setup, try it once and leave if it’s a lil too difficult after the second run. There’s mad stuff to do aside from the fact that the game is basically still bare. You just gotta have the will power to do it 🤌🏽

POI diversity is what this game is lacking the most imo. If we had memorable locations, it would help make up for the lack of story/challenges. I just got myself into a bit of clip recording since last couple of days, and I've regained my interest in the game apart from playing it just for the dailies and weeklies, its like i am getting a bit of bonus content for myself 😛

I’ve been doing this too. Also to keep the dailies interesting, I try to chill and find interesting routes from one challenge to the next. And/or add my own objective to challenges (eg combining them with the task. Let’s say the daily trick is a smith or whatever, and a challenge ask for a grind, I try to make that one a smith)

oh, thats one way to do them. i usually try to not repeat for each task unless its something very specific like a 20m grind in market mile, which we can only do at certain places
but for example game asks me to do a smith i'd try to do all 3 or 5 of them at different places while adding a bit to the sequence myself

I think what they thought we would do with these community parks is that they would make a skeleton of the parks, and then we, the players, would fill it with dropped items, and this is how the community park is built by the "community." However, the dropped items are very limited, and the community parks offer no room for creativity.

That's not a bad idea honestly.

It would be cool if there was a full on map editor mode that was a certain size that would fit into the dimensions of one of the 3 community parts (4 with Brickswitch eventually)

And they would rotate these designs based on most popular by community vote - this would be its own mode that players can access from menu or in their sessions any time, load and skate privately outside of the main map anytime as well, either alone or with their party - or join anyone hosting it as a live small server ordeal.

Additionally - community park only pieces, if it was more live as the current build kit works. That way I'm able to toss down full on bowls or halfpipes than just simple small quarterpipes and such

Nollie Inward Heel. 100% steezier than every trick just for how slooooww it pops. Do it off of any ramp/ledge/bank and you’ll see what I mean immediately. I think it’s the slowest trick in the game outside of like, shuvits. (I haven’t confirmed it though)

I also love doing hardflip BS 180 because of how steezy the spin looks.

So I've done some testing with double rails (two rails right next to each other)

It does some interesting things, the game seems to want to force you onto one rail and it actively avoids collisions with the other rail
Even on grind assist at 0
