This is a new generation skate game that dabbled a bit in skate culture but is not willing to take the full plunge because of how less profitable it would be compared to making and designing it to reach the broader market, which very well may lead to its eventual demise... because even though we love skating, its still a niche sport and will never reach mass popularity in the same way basketball or football do or soccer in europe

i agree with you on that, i can feel that Full Circle's influence is somewhere in the game just not the focus, and it's definitely buried deep under all EA has demanded them to implement. if the game were to perish at some point my only wish would be the devs can all comfortably find work after the project. they put a lot of work in for EA to reap most of the benefits and leave them to take the hit

when the game launched Early Access on Sept 16, the values you're seeing today were the values for Rip Chips and XP.
as noted in the patch notes, a bug snuck in in update 0.28 that inflated the accrual rates. today's update reverted that bug to the correct values.

5 rip chips although annoying really isnt that bad for standard boxes you can still open like 7-8 a day and get rip score and get cosmetics but when you get onto the builder boxes especially the market mile one where its 350 a pop and you get 6 spins a day with the lowered rip chip amount and you get 5 titles and 1 thing thats an actual item and grants rip score thats where the issue lies it makes the whole grind feel pointless

this is a very hopeful perspective i really wanna fight for (even though in a separate case, Diablo 4 is ridden with similar practices that Diablo Immortal is. when Blizz fans thought they were getting the sequel they wanted) the idea that it COULD happen. i just simply don't believe it by the way it's being treated this early.

Mission challenges:

• Per goal: 0.28.5: 50 Rep / 25 Rip Chips

Crew challenges (static/non-rotating):

3 was an interesting case of cult classic stature. carving out it's own lane years after it released meant yea while it wasn't a smash hit on launch, the demand was definitely there if a new premium title were to be announced. i get that EA didn't believe in it enough but the alternative was certainly not the play either.

also considering NCAA 14 sold as many copies overall and they gave that demographic a faithful revival, Skate COULD have been no different. it just wasn't.

I've been trying to remain patient with this game for a while man but every update is more disappointing than the last so idk what point there is to having any patience for this game anymore when it's clear this game is just a EA money farm. The fact that there are tricks already in the game that they locked away just waiting for the most opportune moment to release them should tell you they don't care about your experience they just want your money and playtime. The way they prioritize profit over quality, notice how the shop has never had an issue but extremely simple gameplay functions such as opening the map or spectating a player can cause bugs that force you to completely restart your application. I understand you really enjoy just skating around but I just cannot fathom how you can tolerate such a level of banal

it's possible you're missing one when you go for it.

i've found that happen to me.

ex. 5 goals + "do it all in one" and the first one may be a score goal.
I'll knock them out, but when going for the All in One, I may slightly miss the score one, but it's not SUPER clear if I got it or not until the end.

When the Daily Challenges gave you 50 XP and 5 Rip Chips, these were my complaints:

• You level up too quickly, and once you hit level 10 in a district, XP becomes worthless
• You don't get enough Rip Chips to incentivize doing the Daily Challenges

So they fixed it with 0.28, they balanced the increase of Rip Chips with the decrease in XP

Solved BOTH of my issues with Daily Challenges

Why on Earth did you even need to revert this? This "bug" quite literally fixed two flaws with Daily Challenges

When you get to builder boxes, you have a chance to get no prop and get a title instead, when you can now only open around 3-5 of these boxes in a day, and there's 30, 40 or 50 boxes, that's essentially months of continuous grinding to get reskins of objects that already exist

No, because it's an overall progression bonus. In the current state anyway. If there were more boxes and districts it would make sense for an increase. That said, I hope the rip chips will be transferable to expansion areas and they're not on a completely different currency. Also with that said, there would be hypothetically more challenges. I liked that someone else mentioned earlier that giving a higher reward for higher difficulty challenges makes sense instead of an additional 5 per 'task' item.

And what is the reason to do those challenges, it's for the rewards that you are given. What are those rewards? XP that quickly becomes redundant, and rip chips which you earn at a glacial pace outside of the one-time completion rewards of 'story' challenges. When you level up in a district, what do you unlock? New boxes to open. Everything in this game worth flicking a stick for is tied to rip chips.

When the Daily Challenges gave you 50 XP and 5 Rip Chips, these were my complaints:

• You level up too quickly, and once you hit level 10 in a district, XP becomes worthless
• You don't get enough Rip Chips to incentivize doing the Daily Challenges

So they fixed it with 0.28, they balanced the increase of Rip Chips with the decrease in XP

With all due respect to those legacy devs and the current skate devs, a few lead devs from that time do NOT encompass the entirety of what made skate what it was in its heyday

The reality is that the legacy skate series can never be made today because it’s just beyond a AAA studios nature to make something so consumer friendly as to let us flip our cap backwards without charging money for it (wow!)

Why tf did you guys decrease the amount of Rip Chips earned from challenges?
You already have four different currencies, of course the economy is broken. Why don’t we have the option to buy SV Bucks with Rip Chips? Something like 10,000 Rip Chips for 100 SV Bucks would make sense. Why did you remove the Rip Chip exchange for Tix? That was actually a good idea.

Also, Rip Chips are used for those boxes that increase your Rip Score, but once you’ve bought all the boxes, you can’t earn any more Rip Score. Just make it so that XP from challenges turns into Rip Score once you hit level 10 in a zone.

Please, do something with Rip Chips. Right now, even earning zero Rip Chips a day would make no difference, they’re a useless currency after a while.

Yeah, it’s even worse now — we don’t even want to do daily missions without co-op. Some challenges only give like 15 Rip Chips without co-op… seriously?
Why even add a currency if the goal isn’t to earn it, and more importantly, to spend it?
