In my opinion, the reason why Skate manage to be the game because Skate is balance (realistic and arcadey) there's realistic, casual, comp and tricklining. The flick-it controls system is top notch.

You do the double handed no foot grab (can't remember the name of it) and you perform a backflip

Or front flip, can't remember, maybe either of the two

I think the best way to do it consistently is to learn when to let go, I'm not much of a flipper on that sense as I never enjoyed performing them, but there's definitely a way to do it consistently
