I've been playing since the first game, and I'm enamored with the way the game feels to play!

I think the camera angles used in the skate. games probably have a lot of impact the overall gamefeel - something that's been difficult to find in other, similar games.

Skate being online free to play makes so much sense. Skateboarding is all about community and having fun with your friends. I think it makes sense for the game to focus heavily on that. It’s not like skate is some big story driven single player RPG that’s going free to play lol

No Beta invites have gone out.
We're in Early Pre-Alpha stage. And signing up as a skate. Insider just puts your name in consideration. Participants are randomly selected - and invites go out a week before a playtest starts.

I'm more worried about singleplayer and challenges, and cosmetics behind mtx doesn't sound too good i would want be able to just express myself without giving EA a single dollar I don't wanna look like another default bot character wearing the two free cosmetics in the free battle pass I want to play to express myself (And I mean PLAY not GRIND the game like a belt sander)

I've been playing riders republic for a while and got it on sale, now for a paid game I don't think micro transactions are justified

when there is a game this enjoyable, I would like it done right, not some sloppy seconds map (if you did create one) as a map dev/js dev I like my work to be as polished as possible, that's very approachable for the person that wanted the game, basically I wouldn't want anyone dissatisfied

I guess my thought is, if its not a payed for map, why would people try as hard to work on it

The only thing, in my opinion, that could be payable are DLCs, similar to the ones in the previous games

Plenty of games have had huge funding and still flopped because of things like crunch, feature creep, and rushed release

Because they're passionate, they created this studio to make this game, OG devs came back to the company to make this game, and brought a bunch of awesome new blood to the studio to create a game that respects the legacy of the franchise while building the future - and can be supported for a long time.

Well if you say so I can trust and respect that, to be honest I am glad that you guys are communicating to the community at all, thats something a lot of companies don't do so its very nice to see

I mean, heck, this server has been open a year already - before we had closed public playtests.
We're bringing y'all along the journey of building this game. And yeah, I've been at EA 12 years - and worked on a lot of franchises/titles. But I've never seen a studio be this open, share this much of the early dev work publicly... ever.

(Except for like those kickstarter games and whatnot).

No shade thrown in my last comment, btw.

And to bring folks into playtests this early - as we're building out the gameplay, listening to feedback, etc. - and more playtests are coming.
It's pretty dope.

Personally I love when devs are open with development and playtests, not gonna name names but I know plenty of communities that abandon a game because of radiosilence.

I mean, that's basically the reason I'm here. The openness of the team and the community. Makes it all feel like everyone is a friend

Idk how many other game servers I've been in and left where, even though it's official, no one actually on the team is there and it's all one big show of anarchy that doesn't matter
