I see it both ways, but if the objective is to raise revenue for game development (then Rev Dis), you want more D1sk sold. People can find out via discord etc once other buyers have revealed them so its not like it is a big secret. Just figure if it was on the website it provides more exposure. Reaching some of those reward goals may be a fantastic way to keep people engaged in buying and flipping their NFTs, as the LB is somewhat unattainable (for most). I don't mind either way though, just thought if people are questioning now how to get some of those rewards it may have been a missed opportunity to sell more d1sk.

The super high level is that the machine learning algorithm was swapped from something easier to use to a neural net. The reason it’s taken so long is that neural nets allow for a lot more power in getting accurate and generalizable outputs, but that also means there’s a lot more to do to achieve those results.

The main motivation for doing this was that the old algo struggled pricing things like a holo blazing rhamphyre 1/1 with 0 examples of it selling. It’s gotten a bit better with more sales but still not great.

The new neural net is also really great at generalizing. With the old algo you might’ve noticed that a stage 2 background was sometimes priced lower than it’s stage 1 counter part. The new algo understands the patterns in the data better to know that in 99% of cases, stage 2s are worth more (caveat being that the threshold for that 1250 power on megas sometimes causes stage 2s to be more abundant which can cause them to be priced pretty much the same as stage 1 bgs)

It’s also just more accurate overall. Unfortunately what this means for a lot of illuvitars is that prices will move slightly down, and some quite a bit down, but not all. I was crossing my fingers that this didn’t happen but obviously I was going for accuracy above all else and I firmly believe this is a lot lot better than the old. No more holo rhamphyre being priced at a pitiful 2.7 ETH.

Well the key is that it uses all of the market data available to infer price.

Do you think if we saw a bunch of sales trending down in price for let's say a holo tier 1 background Axodon, that we can very reasonably assume that a holo tier 2 background axodon's price is also trending down? As we know the price of a tier 1 bg and tier 2 are correlated, we know that the value of a tier 2 has come down, even if we've seen no sales for the exact match

Remember it can use more than just alpha holo singe data.

It's a neural net which means it has a ton of connections between neurons. Training on complex relationships between all the attributes. So if it notices a pattern between non holo alpha singes and holo alpha singes it might use that to get an up to date estimate. Or it might use non alpha singe data as it finds patterns within the data between alphas and non alphas.

Or maybe it even noticed a pattern on alphas and norms getting closer in value so it reduces the value of alpha.
The beauty of neural nets is that it can pick up on any type of complex relationship in the data. The flip side to that is that it's sometimes hard to figure out why it did something.

I will also say alphas are harder to predict value for than non alphas, as there's only about ~60 sales per week. So although I still think our predictions are pretty good for alphas, they are not as good as non alphas.

This is just one of those cases where the model will have to see more data on the high tier holos to be more confident at putting them at a higher price. There's so so so little data, especially recently.

It's very common for stage 1 and 2 to be closer together, then seeing a big leap with stage 3 as both power and rarity get a good bump.
Same thing with common/uncommon vs rare expressions.

I disagree with this. This is what makes the prices that Johnny is showing above making them way to low. The backgrounds and therefore the rarirty of the illuvitars is something that is needed in the data, otherwise it wouldnt excist. They added those rarity numbers for a reason. If you take it out data that should be there but isnt there you get some of the prices all messed up.

People pay based on a combination of things but ultra rarity generated by the background is not the same as ultra rarity generated by a rare illuvitar in holo or rare expression form. You don't have to trust me, check the market and what people pay the most money for...

How can you value something when nobody is buying it yet?

The top project on opensea right now has 1000 eth volume in 7 days. This project has 11 eth volume in 7 days

Patience and prices will mature when the project reaches more people.

I tried a few different ways to add rarity as an input to the model. I’m not saying I’m done with trying, but nothing I tried made it better.

If I released a worse model (based on comparing real data vs predicted unbiased data), that would be adding my own subjectivity on it. Not the other way around.

Unfortunately you can’t just mindlessly add data to a neural net and it gets better no matter what. I wish you could haha.

Trust me, I went through a ton of different data points trying to get the best output possible. I didn’t exclude anything based on what I thought should or should not be in the model.

I don’t want people to treat the model as gospel. For the vast majority of illuvitars it’s going to be bang on for what you can actually sell for. When trying to price a T5S3 of course you should use some of your own judgement. Although I do think people tend to think what they have is worth more than reality in a lot of cases. But starting high and pricing down is how can can get the most out of something anyways. You never know if there will be a buyer at that price. If there is, the model will retrain and adjust accordingly.

But judging from the team's earlier response regarding how much extra work would it be just to create extra colors for the accessories, for example, it looks like changing anything on this now is out of the question. They are focused on getting all games to open beta, rightfully so. So I think a later time would be more fitting to address this issue again.

I think your partially right, yes ofcourse we want other games out of alpha into beta or final, But beyond has been presented as a game in which we can bond, and it has been released, the whole idea was to make your own custom avatar. And yes we can, but it costs so much more time then if there were a filter option in the accessories selection screen or the illuvitars selection screen that would increase the workability by a margin great enough to have it workable for now. I cant believe with all the predefined filters buildin on other places that that would be so much work. I litterally cannot bo d at this moment bacausevi have to scroll through 500 clowns noses, 200 bandanas and some before i find what i need.

Having things that are super rare isn't great for some individuals, but I think it's REALLY great for the game overall. If you can establish desire first, then have this super rare thing that people want to chase and will put in as many hours/dollars as possible to get it -- that's the endgame. It's a formula that's worked really really well for a lot of franchises already. It's just human psychology at the end of the day.

This is my one major gripe with Overworld rn, is that if everyone grinds for a month or so, you could probably have every t5 illuviual, and then what? You've essentially beaten the game, and in PvP, your deck isn't going to be much better than anyone else's. Gotta have those t5 be a LOT harder to get/craft.

Yeah, I mean it works everywhere it's ever been tried -- as long as you do a good job generating that initial interest, which I think Illuvium is doing really well.

I can't speak much for the holos because I'm not a collector, but simply being able to have the utility of a Ramphyre in PvP when so few others have it, is reason alone to grind for as long as it takes.

FIFA cards are a good example. IIRC, once you finally got a Messi, you could add him to your all-time team and use him against other teams online. There were videos everywhere of people flipping the F out once they finally got one, and believe you me, that was a huge net positive for the franchise.

Let me be a little blunt: 1 hour before the sale, the countdown timer is still showing the wrong start time + 1 hour before the sale, there is still no info on drop rate = very amateur execution from this project, not what is needed or expected imo

I agree. It's very frustrating! Wave 1 drop rates were disclosed and advertised way in advance back then. For promo disks, Everything has to probably be signed off by the promo partner but still, I don't think such a product should be sold without very clear disclosure to the buyers as to the odds etc.
